So glad we came to find this. Had to read comments to check we needed to get our feet wet. Kids bravely ventured into the water.

Let's say we weren't prepared for this one. Approaching GZ we looked for the hint object and decided the tide was too high to grab it today.

Cool spot take you lr shoes off

Coordinates changed from:
S 37° 26.487 E 175° 57.082

Coordinates changed to:
S 37° 26.475 E 175° 57.079

Distance from original: 74.5 feet or 22.7 meters.

Came here a few days ago to check the co ords ....
I apologise as they were a long way out .
Try these ones !

02-Sep-22
Easy when tide is out....only about 6 steps in the mud!
And not many steps to the manuka bush!

10-Aug-22
When I first passed this one, I thought no way not going there. But by the time I returned, my feet were soaked so I thought buggar it, and headed for gz without even bothering to take my shoes off.
I was a little worried at first when I couldn't find it, but read a log about the co ords being a little off, and spotted it quite quickly after that.
I left a pet rock - a penguin. He should be happy here!
Thanks for putting this here, and adding to the adventure.

I'm parked at the NZMCA motorhome park just down the road so came for a wander along here to grab some of the caches. Tide was low but still got wet feet, nice quick find in this interesting spot, TFTC

A cool detour with low water levels. Fun for the whole family. Co-ord’s out about 10-13 m but found quite quickly. Tftc

13-Mar-22
Great location for your hide Helen! No gumboots required as it was dry as!
GPS was bouncing all over the place so I had to check a few potential spots.
TFTC!

23-Jan-22
Found on my way out after having given up, my gps was 14 mts out for this one

31-Dec-21
came at low tide which was helpful. coordinates were a little bit out (maybe 10m) but found after a bit of a search

Last one in this nice wetlands area before we move on, glad to be able to locate it. TFTC

04-Dec-21
Well I wasn't expecting this but as buzzybb was a little under the weather I thought I better take one for the team. So shoes off & in I went. Wasn't happy about walking with all the gorse around. So looked at all the options & when I found i was relieved that it didn't take too long. Deserves a fav point for the fun adventure i had. Tftc

04-Dec-21
Kimbathelion took one for the team here and got wet feet. Once in the right location, spotted easily

It's didn't take that long to get there even when we went the long way but still fun

22-May-21
We had a very pleasant morning walk around the wetlands enjoying the scenery and the serenity, and finding a few caches along the way.
This was the final cache and as we approached we realised what was involved and the reason for the footwear advice in the description suddenly became clear.
Mr Coblet decided to brave it without any change of footwear as it didn't look too bad but he soon discovered the ground was a lot more slippery than it appeared to be and a lot softer too.
But very careful stepping, and a couple of close calls, got him there safely.
There were a multitude of bird footprints on the way and Mr Coblet's footprints were added to the collection (photo attached)
Once on drier ground the search began and the cache was soon spotted using a systematic search.
Once the log was signed and replaced a very careful (and fortunately uneventful) return journey followed using the footsteps made on the way as a guide.
Thanks Supernanny for hiding this cache and providing an unexpected adventure in this beautiful spot.

Thanks for your amazing cache.

Finally found after investigating every target species. As mentioned, cache location was 13m off. Very unique location. TFTC.

20-Mar-21
Cool spot. Saw some fish jumping in the lake while we were looking nice hide

22-Jan-21
10.15am. Came with my old boots, but didn't need them. The water has dried up and I crossed on almost dry land. A quick find too using the hint.
Thank you. David.

Found it TFTC

10-Jan-21
Lovely walk around this reserve. Great fun wadding out to the island. After a decent look and reading through some logs and a bit of a wonder from phone coordinates we had the cache in hand.

10-Jan-21
Not an easy find. We walked through the squelchy mud to the island but couldn’t find it. Checked the previous logs and used the helpful hint of the coordinates being up to 15m out and then it was found. Hint - no need to circumnavigate the island. TFTC

30-Dec-20
This elusive one took some hunting down. Had to widen our search area and by using the hint finally tracked it down. Cheers.

Day 13 - Wednesday 30 December - Waihi - Athenree - Tauranga. Moving south again. Lets Go!

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

30-Dec-20
I was talking to a good friend in Australia, saying how the caches in southern Coromandel are spoiling my geocaching experience - so many are a long way from GZ that I have got into the habit of looking at the hint before I even arrive at GZ. Mostly it is one culprit, with caches up to 35m away. We even came across one that was 400m out! It is going to take me some work to train my self back to using a hint as a last resort. Alas, this particular cache is also a long way from GZ at 14m, but at least the hint is good and it's an easy find.

Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

21-Nov-20
A good find fun crossing the mud many thanks

19-Sep-20
We went for the day at Karangahake gorge and thought we would stop and find caches on the way back. Slightly wet but so worth it. Tftc

23-Aug-20
With a good look around we found it. Yucky mud between my toes. Good hide. Thanks.

When I saw the coordinates for this I was sure they were well off , but I persevered. I’m glad I came here on a day at the end of summer after a long drought. Wouldn’t like to negotiate this mid winter. Even so my brand new walking sandals have lost their pristine ‘shop new’ look and are now the colour of duck pooh and mud.
Thanks for a fun cache.

Every few years we are gifted and extra day.... to Geocache! I decided to head out West to clear some of the stragglers out this way. We'd saved this one for last because we weren't sure how dirty we'd get. We made our way out and the search took a little longer then it had to due to the coords being slightly out. The long grass on the way back to the car cleaned our feet excellently.

Cheers supernanny, TFTC Smile

Found 2.30pm
Very slippery here today getting to this one, also a few metres out but quickly spotted. SLTFTC

22-Feb-20
With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and nieces... We were really keen to get our walk on today, and the area at the top of Waihi Beach - Orokawa Reserve, seemed to be the best option. We gave Gap the slimmest of margins to get ready this morning, and picked him up on the way... We have a ‘hit list’ of caches that we have targeted, and there are a lot in this area. The only problem is forecast rain...

We determined that we couldn’t get much wetter, so pressed on with the trail. We figured this one would be island based... The lower water levels made for an easier approach, but the exposed mud was slippery in places. This one was out by our iPhone’s reckoning, but there wasn’t a whole lot of alternative hint markers. Thanks supernannny and TFTC.

Low tide so no worries - mud was hard too. Looked further a field and found it

With a new year in mind and a need to get out I headed up here with HKCB to collect a few caches in the area. Nice morning for a walk.

Leaving Hamilton at 4am meant we got to Waihi Beach a little before sunrise. So with a couple of park and grabs nearby we headed for those before heading to the start line. Continuing after our walk out and along the reserve
thanks for the placement

19-Jan-20
With the new year started and having put the year where Geocaching came about 10th behind me, I teamed up with CatsandDragons for a good old fashioned Geocaching adventure. With both of our fitness's nowhere where they once were, a bash around Waihi looked perfect. Long enough to push us, but nothing too crazy.

With the walk complete, and with some time still left before we needed to head home. We headed down the other end of the beach to clear out a few of the park and grabs.

Worked out where the cache was when we got within 100m of GZ. Should of read the cache page before heading off. Luckily with the midday heat a stroll in the water was that bad at all. Took a while to find the cache as the coords seemed off, but there was only so many of the hint items so eventually narrowed it down.

Fortunately not wet at the moment so cache was accessible after a sticky careful approach. The cache was real easy to find once at gz, well worth the dicey walk to get it, tftc

06-Jan-20
Nice walk to the cache

04-Jan-20
Got it after a few stuck jandels in mud!

TFTC.

One boy decides to go in handles and slipped, the other one didn’t bother with shoes. And all that while their mum was watching from the sideline. TFTC Smile

A day out clearing some new caches in the area. I N being the operative word lol!! Awesome Thanks.

I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

06-Dec-19
Popped on my wading shoes and made my way to GZ with a squish squash sort of sound, slippy as heck and almost losing my shoes. Grabbed the cache and squish squashed my way back to the shore. Good idea for a placement. TFTC

01-Dec-19
Up here again for a couple of caches and a bit of fun This is turning into a lovely area and will interesting to see how it develops more TFTC

24-Nov-19
I wasn't looking forward to wading across here, but it ended up being loads of fun. Lots of squeals from the girls whereas I went for the get-across-as-fast-as-you-can approach because I was barefoot
Thanks for the adventure. Cache was quickly found.

17-Nov-19
So, wellies and bush hat, looking very Kiwi, I strode out across the lake. The cache took a little while, as the co-ordinates were about 15m out but, when I cast the net wider, it was an easy find. TFTC. Nice view too.

Find number 6279. Boges and I were on our way to the area when this notification came thru. We had a little way to travel and some caches to grab before getting to Athenree. As we made our way towards GZ we read about the cache and the attributes. On the edges we took our shoes off and started to make our way over. n doing so we spied and few footprints returning. These did not look like dainty prints that would be supernannies. Assumption was that the FTF would have gone and this proved so when we opened the logsheet. All good and thank you for the little adventure.

Doing boring paperwork when the call came to go. Left in fine weather, stopped for coffee and came out to pouring rain! Arrived at parking spot to another heavy shower, but soon cleared. On with the wet shoes and off. A few foot and boot prints had preceded us. No birdlife at all. Very different to last visit when the island was teeming with birdlife. Signed and retreated. Thanks for the cache placement Supernanny.

15-Nov-19
First to find. Just on the way out when the computer binged at new cache. So took the long way round. Chased all the birds away on way in. Gum boots not high enough Have seen the whole area and car park under water. TFTC. Dogs not allowed but dropped of TB Dog

Thanks supernanny for your little cache adventure...I had the exact same thoughts as you as I walked past the islands...those spots are begging geocache ....but when I saw the abundance of bird life I gave it a miss..today as I approached GZ not a bird to be seen...umm..and then the tell tale ..multiple hoof or foot prints imprinted in the mud...not hard to find ..fillow the trail of foot prints...soon had the log signed ...thanks supernanny ...tidy little cache
