Looked at the type of cache, looked at the logs and thought well give it a go just to rock up to the location and go wow this is gonna be interesting Found it by sheer luck! A bit sticky but logged fine either way! Thanks for the letterbox and the view!

This one took us a while to find despite two people having found it before. We were about to give up when one of our group finally spotted it. Thanks for this very well hidden cache!

28 June 2024 15:12dalerious and I are back in Tasmania after spending a wonderful couple of days caching Melbourne on the eve of our wedding, and working our way to Geelong ready to board the ferry here for our honeymoon. Sunday 23rd of June, to Saturday 29th of June, 2024, will forever be etched in our memories for all the right reasons.Took the opportunity to drive up the Mountain today as the weather was favourable. Stayed up here for a few hours grabbing caches that dalerious already had from a previous visit.I am so glad to say that this cache is indeed here. It did take a bit of searching, and with both of us looking for a while.Thank you Budgietas for another awesome cache.

This is the fifth day of my first trip to Tasmania. I was brought down here for a 2-day intensive business retreat. Which was huge, but all finished now. And of course, I have an extra couple of days to go geocaching after. I have all of today to myself with the hire car. And the options are many more than the hours I have. Already I've managed to fall in love with what I could walk to around Hobart. And so today is dedicated to heading up this Mount Wellington that literally everyone I spoke to says is a must-do. Hard to argue with that! After a non-early start and a breakfast stroll through Salamanca, I throw some extra clothes in the car and I'm on the road, heading west and up.Joyfully, I do not worry about where I am and just follow Google Maps towards the towering rock. There are few things to like more than finding a bendy mountain road, shrouded in trees in a hire car. And it is really clear when the mountain road begins and the suburbs are left behind.Making the most of it, I wind the windows down, but being cold I also find the seat warmers. Makes no sense, but worth it! The scenery changes and it's so delightfully different to the Queensland that I am very used to. A few times in between looking at tiny waterfalls or slowing to see properly out the windows, I stop to admire the views. Each on simply spectacular on this clear, cool day. Until my fingers freeze, I hang around at each.Of course, I check for geocaches on the drive up. Reasonably underprepared, I figure simple drive-bys are the way for me today. Besides, I'm here for familiarisation, not mastery. And this is right by the road along the way - good idea!Pulling up at GZ, there is a lot going on. I see a guardrail up and ahead that looks like the driving will continue to get interesting. And there are no muggles for a moment but they quickly appear, having driven down from the summit and then stopping here. And I notice we're only just below the cloud, so perhaps the views at the top aren't possible today, so this is a consolation lookout on the way down; fair enough. And it's cold.I am so very glad I packed my windproof hiking jacket, but not happy I only wore shorts. So high above Hobart with the magnificent views down and out, there is also a brisk, cold wind. But after the muggles eventually move on from right near GZ, I scurry over and down, then make a quick find in a little hidey-hole. At 12:40, I sign my name in the logbook with cold fingers and replace it as found.Oh, Mount Wellington you are already impressing me endlessly. I'm happy to get back in the car, not just for its heated seats, but also to explore further uphill. Oh, I hope to get back here again someday! Thanks for this geocache, Budgietas Smile

Stopped for a look Chasing the different cache typeFound naught, except (disappointingly) lots of rubbish Oh well on to the summit

18-Mar-24
Pushed up the D from 2.5 to 3 as this is getting many DNF's due to the number of rocks in the area

15-Mar-24
Sadly, we couldnt make the find on this one. Its pretty disgusting to have all that trash near the Geocache. Close to Ground Zero. Nasty for sure!

Tried this cache while visiting Tasmania. Unfortunately, DNF. Will try again, when we visit Tasmania next time.

It's always nice when you can avenge a dnf. This is where I got off the bus to begin my epic walk back down the mountain......to Glenorchy Central via big bend/east-west/Montrose trail/random streets. A fun day out. Thankfully the day started off with the quick finding of this past nemesis. Huzzah! Thanks budgietas for this elevated letterbox!

Goldy and Jimmy are holidaying in Tasmania for a few days. A quick trip away from our regular life to see sights and find caches.I'm aiming to continue my daily streak and fill some Jasmer grid spots. As well as find some challenge caches and as many virtuals as I can. This was our first full day in Tassie and we went to see Mount Wellington and The Great Lake before heading to Launceston. We managed to snag a FTF just off the Tasman Highway at Targa and find some golden oldies in Launceston.Unfortunately, this one eluded us today. Eventually, we did need to keep travelling north. One day I shall return to amend this DNF. A cool spot though, thanks for bringing us here.

A quick find on a rather chilly afternoon just as it started snowing.

It was time for a return trip to Tassie to explore the southern part of the state. I paired up with OzHockeyChick for a 5 day caching blitz with some sightseeing in between. Today was Day 2 and we were exploring around Hobart, Bruny Island, Mount Wellington and surrounds.

It was forecast to snow on Mt Wellington this afternoon so we frantically searched for this one. It was freezing already on top of the mountain and OzHockeyChick soon made the find.

Thanks Budgietas for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

While on the way to the top of the mountain to get the virtual for this months challenge, we stopped here to have a look for this cache. Zozetta and I had previously had a DNF here in December, so I wanted to get this blue face off the map. While at a CITO a few months ago, another cacher and I were talking to the CO about this cache. He gave us a hint, one that was a lot more helpful than the one on the cache page, and today we used that advice to get a quick find. Nice to finally turn this into a smiley.

Thanks for the cache Budgietas!

I can now say that I have cached in the snow in Tasmania.

After doing the long walk out to Devil of a good time and to Smith's monument, I was feeling fairly tired and sore. I needed just one more cache for the day and although I spent around 15 minutes searching, I came away empty handed. I'll have another look at a later date.

Found on a trip from South Australia to Tasmania, mainly to visit family and friends and to also find a few caches.

After completing a couple of caches in Hobart first thing this morning, I headed up the mountain to find a few caches of interest including this one, before going down to the Huon.

This one took quite a bit of searching, although I'm not sure why as I must have looked quite close about three times before finally spotting it.

Cache and contents are in good condition.

Thanks Budgietas for the cache.

We continued today our tour in Tasmania, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Letterbox Hybrid.

The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.

The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging. The stamps were exchanged.

Thanks to Budgietas for the generation of this nice cache View of the Derwent (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.

PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.

Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

Touring around Tasmania with the family. Arrived in Hobart today & being it was such a lovely afternoon headed up to Mt Wellington. I needed a letterbox cache in Tasmania to fulfill a challenge cache, so we stopped here. The views from here were amazing. We searched about 10 minutes before I spotted something amongst the rocks. We thought the hint humrous. I dropped a TB in here to continue it's journey. It's a sheep, maybe a mountain sheep.
Thanks for placing the cache here.

Wonderful views from this spot!!

Spent ages looking for this cache. There’s real many rocks here!!

I found a plastic bag and used it to pick up some rubbish in this area. That kept me busy while I searched for the container.

Found it eventually and signed in. The container is generally in good condition, but the stamp has exploded and there’s ink everywhere.

Thanks for it the letterbox!

tassietan and I came to kunanyi to complete the final Reach the Peak challenge. We decided it would be appropriate for us to do this on our own local mountain!
Having completed all we could up the top (amidst the amazing crowds up there) we started to meander down and complete some caches on the downhill track.
It really is an amazing view of the Derwent from this spot!
We got out of the car and marvelled at the rock scree in front of us, then read the clue for the cache!! Really!?!
My patience was wearing thin as we clambered here and there on the scree. tassietan (whose knee was really giving her some grief by this time) sat and read previous logs, which didn't help my mood. Suddenly, having widened my search after reading one log, I saw something not quite in keeping with the general environment. Phew! Found!
Thanks Budgietas for the lovely views.

Came up With RoadieM to our Mt Everest (Kunanyi) to get the final points for the Reach the Peak challenge. Mmmmm ..... great clue! My geocaching skills for the whole day had been right out and my coords were right out, so I had no confidence in finding this one. RoadieM made the find after not too long fortunately, as we were both about to pull the pin. Thanks Budgietas - great views here thats for sure!

No luck for us this morning.
So much rubbish at GZ teasing us (and so many caches looking like rubbish these days), we spent a while looking, going grrr at the 'quick find' logs.
Maybe with the light at a different angle we will have more luck

Fitzy_1965 and I decided to do a bit of a whirlwind holiday visiting family and caching along the way. We did three states in four days. Tiring but so worth it. We are just waiting for Western Australia to open up and then we will be there too!

Day 2 saw us getting up early again to catch a flight to Hobart. Grateful for my Uncle being chauffeur and getting us to the airport on time. It was a fantastic day of caching which included collecting a number of LGA’s but turned wet and blustery as we headed up Mt Wellington. We ended the day with dinner at the Drunken Admiral on Hunter St….a fantastic experience.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise stated. Thanks so much to all CO’s for your hides.

We had tried this on the way up but came back for a second look. How did we miss that?

27,049. Found with minniek during Day 2 of our Southern Australian meander.

After a fun day in Adelaide yesterday, we flew to Hobart this morning with an aim to do a short loop filling in some Local Government Areas. After picking up our hire car we started caching through our list. We had completed a loop now collecting six LGAs, so we decided to head up Mt Wellington. Once up top (I forgot hoe long a drive that is) we did the short windy walk to find this one. Took a while, but then I looked at the right level at the right angle and spotted the cache. Signed/Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next cache on the list.

Thanks Budgietas !!

Cache checked. All good

28-Nov-21
The CO's cache check was our cue to go and find it. After the big walk (and hours of gardening) I had just about seized up. The dragged myself over the cliff and scrambled to where we though GZ was , only to find it was 500m away, well ok 5m but it felt like a lot more.
Anyway the cache was in good condition and there was obviously ink for the stamp in there so the spare container was not required.
Now back up to the road again [xx(]
Thanks Budgietas

Hello BudgieTas, We found your cache on day #19 of our Lap year trip. After selling up our hobby farm in South Gippsland and putting everything in storage we are now living on the road full time in our caravan and ‘doing a lap’.
Today we are based in Richmond and sight seeing around Hobart, it’s Geo daughters birthday so we have had plenty of sweat treats through out the day.
We had a good giggle at the hint on this one. Geo mum spotted the cache from above and Geo son retrieved it.
Thank you for being one of the CO’s who supplied us with a cache to find today.
Cache in good condition.

I A visit to Hobart, for my tribe, is not complete unless we do the drive up this mighty mountain. After visiting the markets we made our way to the summit. Of course, just as we arrived the clouds rolled in and stole the view, then came the rain. Brrrrr!

Time to go find some hot beverages but not before a quick stop here to collect this letterbox cache. It was still drizzling but we were already cold and wet so it didn’t make much difference. Happily the cache was found within 5 minutes. Back to the car to sign the log without getting it wet. With our scribble left on the log I ventured out in the weather once more to return the beasty to it’s hidey hole.

Rightio!!!! Time for that hot drink

Thanks for the cache Budgietas Big Grin

Thanks for the letterbox cache Budgietas.
Out and about today with RLD4963, and with the GeoGSP in doggy daycare today, I was keen to target a couple of caches in areas that are not for dogs. We had been looking at the top of the mountain all morning waiting for the cloud that was hanging around the top to lift, but it didn't seem to want to budge, so we headed up anyway to see what we could find. Well, above the clouds it was sunny blue skies! A lovely surprise.
We parked as close as we possibly could to this one, and were able to find the cache quickly. Great views from our time at the top, although we had to drive back down through the clouds afterwards.

After a pleasant day driving around Channel Country, late in the day we drove up Mount Wellington to enjoy the views over Hobart. I had found the caches on the very top of a previous trip to Tasmania (I did in the dark!) so I decided to stop off for this Letterbox on the way down. It took me quite a while to find it... although I was looking for the typical tell-tale (which I eventually found), my GPS was dragging me too far down the hill giving me far too many places to look.

Thanks **Budgietas** for putting this cache here... I have left a Trackable in it for the next cacher that comes along.

MrCoder headed off to find this one. After working towards the middle of the rocky outcrop, I thought I should head out to help. 2 seconds later I had the cache in hand!

Dispute residing in Tassie my entire life & frequently visiting Hobart (from NW), I had never nade the track up the mountain. Well judging from the previous visitors comments, I may have picked the best day for some time! Not a breath of wind, sun was shining & the view was crystal clear, although you wouldn’t have thought it the way the tourists were rugged up (maybe we just have thick skin)!

Thanks budgietas for placing this cache here.

We stopped in to find this cache on the way to the pinnacle area. GPS receivers took a while to settle down, but sat on a rock were mostly saying 1m so that is where it started. Suffice to say it took long enough for me to go and get a jumper and a hat from the car. Cache was found not far from where GPS said it should be. It just needed to be looked at from the right angle. Log signed and onwards.
Being leap-day and these only coming around every 1461 days, I thought I'd make a day of it.
A grand plan was hatched to try and get as many types on a day. In Tasmania (unless there is a mega on, etc) that's a limit of 8 types, being Traditional, Multi, Letterbox, Unknown/Mystery, Virtual, EarthCache, Event and WhereIGo. I had also calculated out a way of being able to do 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 but it started to fall down with Virtuals and Events - there being two events on at opposite ends of the state, and the route to collect 3 virtuals would have taken basically all day - so the 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 plan was shelved around 12:30 and the aim being to just get the 8 types.
I picked up my friend robboblah who came along and did some of the driving. We stopped to collect a Multi along our route, drove to Mt Wellington/kunanyi to obtain a Letterbox (which had some missing attributes from my grid), a Virtual (yes I'd held off finding it for this long) and an EarthCache, also picking up a Traditional because it was right there. We also had planned to get a solved puzzle coming down Mt Wellington and a couple in the Ridgeway area, BUT that required two 30 minute walks and it was quickly apparent that we had run out of time to be at the event starting at 10am. Over to the event organised by stainless-steel-rat, cachers were met and caches discussed. The allocated hour was well and truly over-run by gas-bagging me, and so we quickly ducked out to grab another letterbox and a mystery in the vicinity and some traditionals which were on the way. It was at this point that we decided the itinerary would be changed up and the long drive to the north of the state and back was all but abandoned. A quick lunch from the nearby bakery in Bellerive, which we decided to not eat in the car, and I started trying to solve some puzzles in our new target area. A drive (stopping to get some information for a multi and more-or-less DNF'ing an Unknown/Mystery on the way) down to Hartz Mountains where a Traditional and Whereigo were obtained. After which we decided to continue on to get some water from the Arve River and turned it into a bit more walking and a bit less caching. We collected a Multi and headed to the Ridgeway area to collect some more solved puzzles and finished on the eastern shore. Dinner was had and given the 'original' mission was accomplished, it was decided to call it a day.

After visiting Mt. Wellington we stopped also here. We parked our car just several metres away from the cache, however it still took us some time to locate it as there were just too many options. I was already about to give it up when I spotted it. This is my only letterbox cache I found in Australia, thanks and greetings from Slovakia.

Rocks, rocks and one more rock, a geocachers- or better said my - nightmare. But I'm lucky here, inegüxle, my fellow sufferer doesn't give up and finally holds in his hands our first, and my last tasmanian letterbox. Cool! Thank you Budgietas and happy cachergreetings from Switzerland.

Had to look quite a while as the hint left several options. Just when we were about to give up and continue to the top I saw something suspisious and now we have our first letterbox in tasmania.

Regards from Switzerland.

A little caching on a little holiday to the apple isle.

ook a while to locate, which Sue did. Luckily no one was about because we didn’t try when first arriving because there were lots of people standing and looking at the view, or more often photographing themselves with the view behind them. But is was quiet when we returned from our walk along Thark Ridge.

On a day trip to Hobart Mr "T" teamed up with Mr "W" from whitewebbs and tackled some caches in the area and this was one of them.

Cache and contents were in excellent condition.

Thanks Budgietas for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Mr W and Mr T from Tassie Trekkers headed up the mountain to find three caches and this was one of them. No view today but at least they stayed dry as the threatening rain didn't eventuate. Took a while to locate as lots of possible hiding spots. TFTC

We were on the mainland when this one came out and have been meaning to come up to collect it. Today was the day! We parked about 8m away from GZ and headed straight for it. I turned around to see what male membsec was doing when I spotted the container out in the open. Well that didn't take long to find as I was anticipating a longer search. I believe that some muggles had found it with some chinese writing and a "Happy New Year" message mixed in with the chinese writing. After signing the log book we replaced with a lot of cover hoping that more muggles don't accidentally find it.

Once again great views and still a little damp up here.

I read the hint, looked out the car window and just laughed. Surprisingly took us less time than I expected! Thanks for placing a cache here
