Never used this door and I don't plan to. Even if I did I doubt I could get it open it seems pretty firm. Locked the bike up on the nearby trail and meandered over to GZ, where for some reason my GPS was throwing me 6m away. Had to use some common sense before the high quality cache was found. TFTC Tankengine! Another spot which makes me wonder how you find them.
What a cool spot!We came thinking we would clean mountain, but this hill cleaned us. We managed to only get 6 caches on a pretty long adventure. I guess we will have to keep chipping awayThanks TE
Very aptly named cache I reckon! This is a pretty geographically interesting spot I woulda thought, where two gullies converge onto each other.Waking along the fence is the best way in! Find made by one of Frenchykeks geokiddies after a brilliant afternoon up and down the hill. Thanks!
Here in Canberra for the Mega and we found your cache while exploring the area.We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. Today the backdoor was open and a slow find at GZ.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
A morning stroll hoping to stay out of the rain brought us to black mountain this morning. This was a little more than we bargained for! But got there in the end. Fun cache. Tftc
Tried to sign with my pencil but the waterproof paper wouldn't let me sign. Carved a D in the log and took the photo below.
Today was pleasant in the air-conditioned car, but we also managed a couple of short walks to keep the legs active in some way, despite the heat. After a short stint further south, we came to the lower area of Black Mountain and parked in a very familiar area along Frith Road. A gentle and slow walk soon had us heading off Trail and down to an unusual and unknown (to us) spot. A short search, and the hide was found safe and dry, and we did wonder if we could sneak in by the back door late at night, for a moonlight stroll through the gardens. Thanks Tankengine Domsky
Good hiding spot! Not too tricky, but a good adventure. Terrain and climb out are a little tricky
Nice day for a walk on Black Mountain. Found with SA a while ago and now walking past it again. TFTC
While in the area I decided to collect this one as well. A fair bit more hill climbing than I expected and was surprised by the double gully. Weird.
At the gz I checked multiple spots before making the find. Looks like there has been recent flows down here.
Thanks for the cache TS.
Another name for this could have been wombat walk.

My Sunday arvo 'T3 spree'. I want to get to 600 T3 caches for a local challenge. So I rode the mountain bike from home, around BMT and back picking up 5 caches.
After picking up caches on the other side of the mountain, I made my way around too the Botanical gardens via some nice tracks. Dropped the bike and headed down to the fence. A typical TE placement. TFTC TE

#12491 - 12:40:00 PM; The geohoney was undertaking some pre-Christmas retail therapy, so after dropping her off, I headed off to collect some of the caches around Black Mountain and the inner suburbs to tick a few more boxes towards my current range of personal challenges that I'm working on. Third and final stop on Black Mountain today. An interesting location which required care to be taken on the approach! Once at GZ, soon had the cache in hand and og signed before the climb out and back to the parking area! TFTC Tankengine
I've been meaning to do this one for a while, and today was the day. Walked up from Frith rd, and headed bush when close. Looked around for a bit before spotting it. Creek was running, but managed to just keep my shoes dry.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Held off long enough for the rain to stop before doing a circuit of the mountain. Another interesting little spot here after a short trek off the path. Thanks Tankengine for the cache and the daily exercise.
Quite a strenuous walk and now to walk back up. I have been to the back door.

Making the most of the today after all of the rainy days. All caches in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Now that one took way longer than it needed to, and way too much heavy lifting but I got there in the end.
Grateful thanks Tankengine for placing and maintaining the caches that continue to entertain me on my caching journey.

After doing mother-daughter stuff this morning (my role here was daughter) I decided I needed some me-time this afternoon, so headed off to get some caches on Black Mountain, long overdue to be found. I had a lovely 3km walk up most of the mountain/hill and then down again via 4 caches, all of which were found easily. Now back to do more mother-daughter stuff, this time in the role of mum.
This one was not on my original list but it was not too far away so detoured to have a look. My knees did not enjoy the last few metres, but the cache was found as I thought it would be, although it was quite well hidden so I had to have a second look.
Thanks Tankengine for the cache and the fun!

A brilliantly warm afternoon on Easter Sunday seemed like a great time for a walk to three caches on this side of the mountain. I parked the car at the normal spot at the substation off Frith Rd and headed up the hill to 'Paleomagnetic Place' first, then around the side of the fence, across a quite steep gully to 'Lucanidae Cachii' and then finally down the hill to this cache which was found in a typical TE location without issue. Thanks, Tankengine! This was the last for the day - back to the car now.
Found with [@Decrypter](http://coord.info/PR75QXD). We parked at the back of CSIRO and walked to GZ. Once there our GPSs wouldn't settle. After searching for a few minutes, D read out some previous logs and this gave us a better idea and soon we had CIH. Log signed and all replaced and we walked back to the car. There were a few muggles out, walking, jogging and cycling. TFTC.
Today we have a field trip to the Botanical Gardens for our last class of the year, so I arrived in the area a little early so that I could take a look for this cache first.
Only a short walk from a suitable parking spot, and the cache was readily located. The "gate" reminds me of a cat flap - but I wouldn't want to meet the cat that needs a cat flap that big!

I don't think this will keep out the foxes. A it doesn't close properly.
Was in my way from the AL bonus to the bookstore and thought this might be a quick one. Still took me 10 minutes to find. Just in time to escape an onslaught of mozzies.

There are things that I will do to find a cache, and if that means a scramble down into what appears to be a ditch (all dry, no flowing water today), then so be it. After completing the nearby AL bonus, we decided to continue along the perimeter walk. And once I had slipped through the 'backdoor', it was much easier to retrieve the cache from the other side. Muggle hubby marvelled at the CO's ability to find such random, out of the way places and object. TFTC TankEngine

As I was heading out of the Botanical Gardens after finding the newly published cache (which I was beaten to by this cache's owner), I decided that I might as well pick this one up as well. It wasn't a huge detour from the easy route out and didn't take too long to find.

The Omnia Monday evening walk visited Black Mountain this evening which provided the opportunity to seek out some geocaches in the area beforehand. First I tackled the three off Black Mountain Drive, including this one, then several at the southern edge of Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve. This cache was a straightforward find, being spot on the coordinates. The flow of water required to open this gate must be incredible. Thank you Tankengine for installing and maintaining this cache.
Luckily the gate at the other side was locked too so we had to walk atound. Otherwise we would end up inside arboretum not able to get out this way
Found the cache easily. Thank you for the hide.

Today I headed out with Smitten Granny to do the two ANU Adventure cache collections and their associated bonus cache. It all went smoothly except on WP, but a phone a friend sorted that one out. We then went up to the Botanic gardens to do a few multi's, which all took way longer than expected. A quick late lunch on the way home finished the day off.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine

I had a beaut morning caching with Albida, firstly in the ANU area doing ALs, before coming to the Botanical Gardens. Caches are not being logged in sequential order as found, rather which ones I can remember finding. This one was a challenge. We arrived near GZ and Albida climbed down closer. Some time later, I clambered down hanging on to the fence for personal safety. The cache was located, log signed and then all returned to the hidey hole. TFTC TE
A short walk today to clean out my last two caches on Black Mountain, excluding the Earthcache ontop of course as I tend to avoid those...... [:o] Maybe one day!
This was the first find, followed the fence around and soon made it to the backdoor. Theres a bit of a gap in door here too, so if the botanic gardens is wondering how larger animals are getting in I think you found their problem! As the fence seems to be pretty solid everywhere else.
The cache was a quick find, and in good condition.
Thanks for finding this spot!

Last of my unfound caches on this side of the hill, so it was a timely walk and grab to tick it off.
After clambering up the hill to find a nearby puzzle, decided I might as well give this one a go while I was in the area. Made my way to GZ and slid down the last few metres and quickly unearthed the cache. Don't think it's likely to be muggled any time in the next 50 years. All in good condition and TFTC Tankengine.
Found at 10:36:00 AM out on a day hiking and caching with JmanJezza
Along the way doing a multi-cache on the mountain we passed by here and so grabbed this cache too. All was dry and in good order. It would be interesting to see in a flood.

20,002. Found during a day cherry-picking caches around Canberra.
Circumstances meant that I had today to myself to cache around Canberra. Seeing this one looked like a shortish walk I headed up the mountain to a convenient carpark then hoofed it along the trail and then the fenceline to GZ. Phew - easy find - always happy about that. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then I headed off to the next one.
Thanks Tankengine !! Did I did see Botanic Backdoor II on my way back?

A very eerie start to our 2020 caching here on Black Mountain. The smoke creating a think barrier between the gums. Telstra tower seemed to just pop out from nowhere in the smoke shroud and the sun glowed a blood red.
The backdoor only guarded by a single lone roo mum and her bub. Cache located in the fairly obvious spot and signed.

After 3 TE caches so far today (and no others) and still enough daylight, I decided to make it 4 for the day. A brisk walk to GZ and then the cache was soon found. TFTC.

The only catch of the day as the threat of bushfires and the smoke kept us indoors and busy most of the week. As we had 40 minutes to kill before rock climbing started at nearby ANU this was an obvious pick-up in the meantime.
Interesting gate requiring quite some water force to open up but we can well imagine it with the mean slope above it should we be lucky to rain anytime soon or ever again (

*FTF* with Aquilus1 and Delta Response Team!
After Aquilus1 picked me up and we went to grab my car from Woden (a long story that has nothing to do with caching), we then headed ironically to a cache which last time we went to try, another ftf came out and so we didn't even reach it before turning around and heading off.
But today we got to the cache before the notification came through. We had signed the log and replaced it as found, then as we headed back to our cars the phones starting beeping. Aquilus1 said she was off as she really needed this one. But I said that as I was unprepared I should go home. Then a message from DRT saying he was going to it as well, I thought "Dang it! I'll just come too"!
The drive in was a little slow around the traffic, but Aquilus1 and I parked in a pretty good spot in the end. Would I recommend that spot? Probably not in the daylight hours, but it was fine tonight for a ftf chase.
As we walked the 300 odd metres to GZ we could see DRTs torch across the gully. He had come from the top and we from the bottom. We followed our paths until we had to take the short bushbash to GZ and we met in the middle.
After a quick search of GZ, Delta Response Team found the cache. We signed the log, took a photo then headed back to Aquilus1's car as it was all down hill (pretty much). then Aquilus1 drove me to my car then DRT to his car.
Nice spot around here. And a good place to walk, but the heavy smoke is still makings things a little difficult to brethe. Tftc Tankengine!!!

*FTF* 9.09PM with dty73 and Delta Response Team. Having picked up dty73 earlier from home and driving her to her car in Woden, we were just walking back to our cars after a barefoot tree climb when this cache was published. I still needed a new one for the month and even with seeing it sitting in among the bush on the side of Black mountain I was intending to go.
DRT was also keen, and on the way, so we made our way across to meet up, navigation favoring different ways to get there and on arriving we had ourselves coming in from two separate locations. All good though as we had cars at different gates, and one to get up the road a little more!
Only a 300 metre or so walk but in the heavy smoke even the slight rise was painful and hard to breath, it was a slower than normal walk in. Having had a head ache and sore throat from the smoke any way all day a little shortness of breath to add to it wasn't really noticed, nor the then sore eyes!!!
As we made our way across the rocky fire trail with dty73 in her finest of caching shoes, DRT's torch could been seen approaching from the opposite direction. A few flashes of the torch and a call out to each other we then headed down through the scrub to meet up near GZ. Wondering if we were on the wrong side of the creek trench that ran between us we soon sorted out we sort of both were! The wrong back door first spotted, DRT soon had the right one, a much more impressive one too and then the cache also found.
Logging complete, we made our way back up the short hill to the track and towards the first car together. A bit of a fun walk back to the car, the smoky views down below, wow its so smoky... we really should not be out in this. A drop off every one back to their cars and then off home, crazy the things that a new cache will make you do... funny how much fun the adventure is though! Thanks for the cache Tankengine.
