We are on a caravanning trip around Australia seeing the sights and finding a few caches along the way. We stopped in town and after visiting the information centre, a museum and having a bite toneat we got the bikes out and went for a ride. Was interesting reading the information at this area. Got to test them somewhere, you could see lots of drill sites. After a bit of searching my partner located it.Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache
On my way to cousins, property near Braidwood for a couple of nights with plans to check out the surrounding national parks. Early start decided to go up via Elliot and join onto the Snowy Mts Hwy and up through Cooma. Ended up staying the first night at Cascades campground along the Tuross River as it was such a magic spot. Stopped in Cooma for a while to complete a few caches. It's such an interesting spot along the Cooma Creek. Once at the correct elevation, I made the find here. Log was missing from the cache, but I've replaced it. TFTC!
Having had no luck accessing the Mt Tantangara area (see log here... https://coord.info/GCAVXEE), I headed back to Cooma and had a few enjoyable hours of geocaching there.I've driven through Cooma heaps of times, but usually only stopped for the loo on the way to the snow. It was nice to have time to explore today. This area was fascinating! I've always been really proud of what Australia achieved with the Snowy Hydro Electric Scheme, not only for being one of the civil engineering wonders of the modern world, but also for what it did for multiculturalism in our country. Thanks for the cache, Tankengine! I'll have to tell my dad to come and visit this location sometime - he'd love it!
#7877Day two of our LGA chase out through to Wagga and beyond. today we drive across the range to Wagga.Great spot we got the EC years ago, and this trad and the engineering marker today. Thanks for the cache!
#7877Day Two of our Southern NSW trip. Bega > Wagga WaggaAn early start today and were on the road, targetting whatever DTs, attributes and types we want. end of copy paste Fun one, I appreciate the effort gone into making all the custom containers, and someone else using cable for their caches! Cache and log in good condition, TNLN SL!Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Tankengine
While grabbing the nearby earthcache and AL location, itd be a missed opportunity to find this nearby cache! (and by nearby, I mean right on top!)Some seriously cool bolts around here, I love that they kept it around!Im sure theres an easier way to reach GZ, but lets just say that my recent visits to the Mitchell Blochaus have paid off! Soon I found myself at GZ where the cache was quickly spotted! How you secured that Im not quite sure.Log signed and off for a wander to the next one which was a beautiful showcase of some lovely boulders! Thanks Tankengine for the cache!
A fun day caching with the dream team. This cache was one of the main targets for the day, and was a straightforward find at GZ and in excellent condition. Some really cool history here (and also covered in the nearby earthcache). Thanks, Tankengine!
An absolutely stunning area! WOW! Last day in Cooma after a family trip and had to finish it with a bang. Due to my broken state I convinced my sister to do the finding for me (Jealous that I couldn't!) Wicked placement, awesome spot! Thanks for the cache.
A rather wet period here in Cooma, but we managed to venture out from camp in light drizzle this arvo. as w needed to visit an AdLab stage, not to mention investigate two nearby Traditionals and an Earth Cache. After finally deciding a climb was going to be required, I risked life and limb climbing over wet, slippery, lichen and moss covered rocks to search for this whilst the misus had emergency services on speed dial. Bu hey ! I'm only 72 so what's the fuss ? Grabbed and logged. This one will not get muggled, that's for sure ! TFTC Tankengine
On our return journey from the Canberra GeoBash, we are spending a few days in Cooma. We like this town and we are enjoying some of the caches when we can. This one introduced us to a very interesting process, something we hadn't previously thought about. Thanks for bringing us here, Tankengine. The log is in excellent condition due to your great container.
Found with gwd.aussie.Grabbed after lunch. Breaking the drive grabbing the A/L and this cache on the way home from Canberra GeoBash Canberra. Thanks Tankengine
Stopped for a break, and do the lab cache spot nearby on the way home from the GeoBash Canberra Mega 2024Thank you for bring us to this part of history.Out caching with D@geoThank you the hide Tankengine
1/4/2024 Find #6955Day four in Canberra for KBreeAHH, Captain Terror and I. Today was our second biggest day of caching, not having really pushed it too hard this trip. We had just completed the earthcache and decided we would head up to the lookout and then grab this cache. Until about the third step up where a serious swarm of wasps came flying out of a hole in the stairs at us. Well we scattered fast, back in the direction of the car, and decided to approach the cache from this side. A bit of a look around and the Captain soon found what we were after. Thanks for the cache Tankengine. Not heading up to the lookout today after all!!
Day 5 - Adelaide to GC9PNFB - Capital GeoBash Mega - Canberra ACTAfter inspecting the rock bolts and completing the EC, I morphed into a mountain goat ??and headed off to find this cache. LB guided me from the lower levels as I expertly navigated my way to GZ. A quick find, and now the logbook has both our names in it ??TFTC TankengineKeep smiling ??
On a road trip to attend Capital Geobash Mega and see many different sights along the way with 2beez.This was an interesting spot to visit. Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. Bt
Found on my trip towards Beridale to stay with my friend before heading to The Mile High Event at Tantangara tomorrow. Nice to revisit this location for this cache as well as the AL. Took a while for the phone GPS to settle and to find the right hiding spot. Lovely place. But, BEWARE: Snake sighting! I was looking at my phone whilst walking on the path away from GZ and a darkish looking snake slithered in front of me and into the rocks. It's quite close to the water after all. Anyway, had a fright, went back to the car, skipped the traditional further up the hill, and got a lesson in not looking down at your phone too much whilst in the bush during summer. All good now, TFTC TE!
Rock bolts confirmed stability for loading of 100kg with slippery scrambly fun next to a high flow Lambie Creek. Picture of log included as hard to write on the logbook with pencil. TFTC Tankengine reliving you full times growing up here with GEOJoh!
Thanks Mr Tank Engine - loved the local story of international significance and innovation for engineering internationally. We lived here for years and had no idea that this was here right under our nose. Our accommodation last night was also only a stones throw away!
Awesome location shame this cache has not been maintained.. found part of the log sheet down the bottom then climbed up for the second time to find the rest of the log sheets but no cache container...
Found it. Half of the log container is missing but found some log paper nearby.
Cache is broken, only the lid and log remains. Container is compromised.
Decided to stop for some caches on the way from Cooma to Jindabyne. Fairly easily found this one after some rock scrambling. However it seems a bit damaged. Maybe muggled? I found the log wedged between two rocks adjacent to the cache, and the container's lid seems to be missing. Log is also pretty much full.
A nice dog walkalong this track now that all the (other) Land Rovers have left the show
What a gorgeous little hiking track and spot.
We drove past a Land Rover car show and behind a row of campers, tents etc presumably attending the car show as they all owned Jeeps.
Parking in the Subi nearby the campers I joked that the car maybe vandalised in our absence.
Arriving at GZ Ben and TBS start climbing the rocks off to the right.
I looked where I was standing and thought "I have got this" and up I scaled.
Once my head was above the top "There it is!" I called.
Log signed.

What a beautiful location and the rock bolts story is remarkable. Never heard anything about this. We all climbed up in search of this one and Zinnia94 made the find. Nice hide TFTC
After looking at this interesting place, up I climbed to GZ, cache was easily spotted in the first place we looked, log book could do with a new one
Day 6 of Courtneyrose_ and I’s trip from Adelaide to Sydney, today we headed from Cooma to Batemans Bay via Bega. After caching around Cooma in the morning before our event it was Was interesting to go from country highlands to the coast after being inland for the whole trip.

Find # 11748
Found with sharkiefan.
We headed from Jindabyne up to Cooma and back for the days caching.
First pass I left this one as it looked a little iffy.
Coming back from the lookout I decided to have another look at how to get up here.
Took the long way and ended up with a sock full of prickles. But it was safer than a rock climb.

An interesting bit of engineering history. It took me a lot longer to find the cache than it ever should've but eventually I looked under the right rock and found it.

Sliding around on the wet rocks in thongs was a bit scary, guess I am getting old.
Happy to be writing this log without any worse damage than some any bites.

**This Cache:**
We came for the Earthcache, and sebass19 reminded me there was a traditional too! So I took the hardest route straight up from the information signs to GZ, that was fun! The cache was quickly located and signed before we headed off again!

# 7977 Day 3 of a geotour of Jindabyne and Cooma with iPlod65. Today was nearly all in Cooma in fine sunshine.
I did the climb up the rock-face only to discover a much easier way up and down. I had an idea about what type of case this was an was not disappointed.
Thanks Tankengine.

Visited this spot before but still interesting to return to. Took a bit of searching before I tried the slightly more exposed spot. TFTC.
Great spot and cache, thanks to previous activity comments for the tip about the easy way down!
Car broke down in Cooma so decided to find something to do. Lovely place and made car breaking down not so bad.

Reasonably quick find. The cache container is a little bit different but appreciated the CO's engineering solution to preventing the cache from creeping away.
We give this cache a favourite point for bring us here to appreciate Australian engineering history.

Thought it was time to break my 67 day no finds streak.
Got to within 20m assumed where it was, put my phone in my pocket, but searched with no luck. Got the phone back out - turns out you can have a lot more success when searching in the right area!

The start of a few days away with Nibletricecakes and K8TYBEE. We found this one while completing the Adventure Lab. TFTC.
Rock climbed up up to get this one only to realise there was a way to casually walk back down. Doh!
Heading down to the coast with GLISS! to help K8TYBEE celebrate her birthday. Can’t resist stopping in to grab these caches along the way looking forward to getting some funky caches, checking out some antique shops and staring at the beautiful beach. Been watching the news in case the dreaded Covid rears it’s head down this way. So far things are looking all clear. Thanks for the cache.

With the Canberra Day Long Weekend upon us, the FFLL ladies and I usually take off towards SA or the likes for some caching, however with the unpredictability of COVID on the borders, we decided we would try for something a little closer to home. We decided that we would come down and have a crack at the VB trail around Eden and Merimbula. It was a great weekend away with both the FFLL ladies and it was nice to see the ocean and get some sun on our faces.
This was the first cache for the weekend for me, the ladies had already done this one previously so it was just me this time round. We were nearby completing the Adventure Lab and it would have been rude to simply walk past this unfound cache so the ladies let me make the find. It took a bit of rock hopping before the tricky hide was eventually located. Log signed and cache hidden as found.
Thanks for the cache placement and thanks for the wonderful weekend away FFLL ladies Always enjoyable and always something to look forward to.

Off we go for an over night geomission to Cooma, Jindabyne and a Mt. K climb. Top weekend of quality caching and socialising. I was part of team FATZS (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, TikvaNZ, ZQX, and me, specimenX) on signed logs to save space.
After parking nearby we wandered along the track to this one. Luckily it was a quick find as the heat of the day was roasting by now!

Trip log:
We had a plan, and it was to go to Kosciusko for an oldie and some high altitude caches, it was also to be my first visit, so I was keen. When GreyHams noticed an event was published up there this weekend the decision was made and after a lot of discussion over previous years the time had finally come to tick this one off...
Or so it should have been but my sprained ankle several days before we were to go, it was touch and go and I wasn't sure I could make the distance, but only one way to find out, with some contingency plans should they be needed.
With GreyHams it was an early start, and of course there were other Canberra cachers heading south for the weekend also, so we teamed up for a number in the morning with the newly formed 'Jindy Crew'. After a spot of Cooma caching it was out to 'The Gates' on Lake Eucumbene, a trek but a great way to pass the hot day in the cars aircon, and then the 'track' out to the cache, challenging and equally as amusing, it was a great drive in! A little caching around Buckenderra was nice scenery before meeting up with dty73 and Tankengine in Jindabyne for some more caching an event and a relaxed yummy dinner with our Canberra caching friends for the evening.
Arriving at Charlottes Pass early in the morning is the thing to do, and with so many others already there it was a busy carpark, needing to park about 1km down the road! After our warm up walk and lashings of sunscreen we started off, slow and steady and hoping the foot would make the distance. And it did! The prep was sound, the poles were my lifeline step after step and finally I got to attempt the summit.
Such a great walk, so much to see, yes, it looks all bare and rocky but its beautiful and the slow pace we set we saw all of it! So great with many other cachers up there to spend time with them too, and we spent much time walking along with them over the distance, so much conversation had the time pass quickly and enjoyably. Many thanks to GreyHams, it wasn't the main range loop walk we had planned but he got me to the summit and back! As broken as I was with that last limp to the car we still had the enthusiasm to plan the next trip.
Many thanks to the CO's for your caches, we only stopped at a few for various qualities but your cache led to a very enjoyable trip.

This one scared me to death..... I know its pretty tame for most, but this isnt my cup of tea!
So I see a CITO published for the top of Kozi....Aquilus1 have been wanting to come down here for ages to collect the Kozi caches (I already have them) but also get the 2000!
But, Aquilus1 rolls her ankle, very badly.... so it looks like the whole thing may be off, but, I hadn't accounted for the stubborn streak..."we ARE going, the ankle will be FINE".
So, off we go collecting some targeted caches along the way, we teamed up with another team in the beginning before going our separate ways.
Some interesting Cooma caches, followed by a NUTS drive out to The Gates, and cleaning out Buckanderra on the way down to Jindy. After checking in and meeting Tankengine & dty73, we grabbed a few more caches including a multi I started very, very long ago before ending up at the event.
Great burger, great bubbles... thanks all CO's

Cache 7096 on 23 Jan 2021.
Out on a caching mission with TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox, SpecimenX and ZQX to get some altitude this weekend! Very excited to walk up Mount Kosciusko- my first time, and excited to get out for my first overnight caching mission in a year. But of course there are plenty of interesting caches to get along the way, and a couple of events to drop in to! Just need to keep cool while we do it, with the first really hot weather forecast this weekend.
This cache: a nice DT combination in a place we were going anyway! ZQX made the find. Signed as FATZS.
Thanks Tankengine for the cache and the fun!
