Enjoying this bike ride in perfect weather, a group of seven of us, all on e-MTBs. A bit of a scramble through low new blackberry growth to locate this one but it is well placed off the track. Thanks GSEL.

27-Sep-22
Nice to find this on my bike ride, a lovely day for it.

25-Sep-22
This morning I went on a bike ride from the loop road over Goat Rock Road onto the Incline trail, over to the Cross Creek carpark and back. I had parked my bike and I was just waiting for a couple of downhillers to go past. One of them called out and asked if I was ok but she was gone and round the corner in a flash so probably didn't catch my answer (yes, I'm ok!)

I'm quite impressed there were only ever three fell railway systems built in the world - I hadn't picked that fact up before; makes it a more impressive railway and a more special place. Nice quick find - TFTC.

Quick find of apt container (despite not recalling hint object). I remember this incline Thanks for the new caches GSEL!

Came up from the lake side, wasn't expecting such an up hill trek, but made it here. Thankfully a quick find, before I turned around and headed back down hill, TFTC

Smurf seemed to be eating an ice cream not driving the train. He should concentrate of the job I think!!!

Amazing weather for our bike ride there and back today. Even had a tail wind home. Really enjoyed the historical information. Also learned the valuable lesson of recognising a pittosporum tree... Cache is all good. TFTC

This was my first day caching - loving it! With Sherlock the puppy. TFTC

This was the next cache we focussed on. Once we identified the right tree I made a nice quick find. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC

With good weather at last I came for a day's caching in the Wairarapa, starting off with a bike ride to score three unfound caches along here. Identified a suitable looking tree, and an instant find with good accurate coordinates. All in good condition. Now for an exhilarating mostly downhill ride back to the carpark! Signed log, TFTC

As always, another very pleasant walk on the Rail Trail with this being today's turn around point. Luckily, my GPSr was in total agreement with the cache owner's coordinates as I thought a P... was a ****, not a ****. I really do need to sharpen up my knowledge on botanical matters.

28-May-20
Phew! After being off the bike for such a long time I was already feeling like a rest by the time I got here so it was a great excuse to stop. The cold breeze through here didn't let me stay still for long though. After a quick sign and return it was upward and onward to check out the new(ish) swing bridge. TFTC GSEL

A quick find on the last of the new caches along this track. Fantastic new bridge at Siberia. tftc

22-Feb-20
this was my turn to find it first
we are out trying our mt bikes out and what better place than the Remutaka rail trail.
This area is so full of rail way history an the things people did many years ago just to help the wheels of the industry to keep going around
many thanks

Had a phone call from 2Bulbars earlier in the week wanting to head back into the remutaka's area and start from the fear
featherston side so here we are and no rain insight yay good ride up had lunch at the summit then headed around the backroad which at the mega we only found this road by mistake so have been keen to come back and of course pick up the few caches around this way.
Quick find here thanks for the placement and the smiley.

#11,701. Returned for another good hike on the Cross Creek Road in Rimutaka Forest Park. GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

On the way to here there were was severe wind gusts blasting down the gullies that cross the track and it was quite the challenge to stay upright sometimes. But those gusts were very isolated and there is a relative calm elsewhere on the track. Which is just as well otherwise fighting a headwind up here might have caused me to give up and go back. As it was walking up here was somewhat faster and easier than when I biked up here the last time (of course the downhill was the payoff though).

As I approached GZ I was a bit mystified as to why the cache would be here since it seemed to be in the mddle of nowhere. But just 5m from GZ a natural spot for a cache suddenly came into view and indeed the cache was located there in a nice sheltered spot. I don't know if I was imagining things but I could have sworn the smurf was eating an iceblock and not driving a train. Oh well, I have no photo evidence.

While I was signing, two e-bikers whizzed by going uphill without much apparent effort. I wondered how they were fairing with the wind gusts. Then as I was walking back down they caught up to me having given up before reaching Summit citing extreme wind! I guess that answers that.

Thank for filling in some more "gaps" along here.

Was at home taking some annual leave as work has asked me to take some extra leave as I have far too much leave owning, so instead of working though these quiet holidays, I ended up doing a few long forgotten chores around home.

Was in Petone getting supplies when I got a text from Ethness asking me if I was interested in coming over to the Wairarapa for the 3 new FTF caches, well as I was currently doing some shopping at that stage there was no way that I was going to be able to do so, and I also had other things planned for the rest of the day. I asked Ethness to contact Mrs Yeetrees and make arrangements, and when I finally got back home with my supplies, I discussed with Mrs Yeetrees in regards of going for a walk and she was happy to do so, I said that it would be approximately 4K

After finding GC8HAWK - Mountain Biker Smurf (Wairarapa), it was time to continue on our walk to the final off the 3 caches that we had planned to come in and get today. Even though I knew the FTF had more than likely gone, I wanted to carry on so that I would complete and clear up this area again as I had previous done.

After about 10 minutes up the track I soon spotted the likely culprit ( ianL1) finally, making his way back down the track, and decided to surprise him with a hello from a distance and then we finally meet up and it was a great opportunity to exchange compliments and a little bit of banter, of course Razz[^]Surprised[:o)]. After a short chat ianL1, asked if we were interested in making our way to his place to have a drink before going home, well with an offer like this who could resist, definitely... got all the details and it was time to continue on our separate ways till a bit later.

It really didnt take long before we were soon near GZ and Mrs Yeetrees finally managed to nab this cache and did the honours.

Managed to retrieve the cache, and opened to find that the FTF had gone but we were starting to get a bit closer, till we caught up and definitely fell behind time, 44 minutes 42 seconds now,WinkSurprised[xx(] signed the logsheet and then it was time to return the cache back to where we got it from. Thanks GSEL for placing this extra few caches here and for bringing us to this spot. TFTC TNLNSL (15069).

Decided that once we had found all the caches that I would let Ethness and Mrs Yeetrees slowly make their way back to the car while I did it a bit faster so that I could pick up my fresh baking to take to ianL1 place. It is rude to turn up empty handed. It was good as I was able to get back to the car before 09:30 and managed to get the supplies and back to the car park just as Ethness and Mrs Yeetrees were ready to be picked up.

After finishing the walk 12000 steps, I was gratefully for ianL1 for inviting us back to his place for a drink and some home baking. What a wonderful spot to have a batch, thanks for inviting us around and for showing us around your place as well as the lovely banter, Happy New Year, may it continue, WinkTwistedSurprised[xx(]Razz.....

FTF @07.50 am
I was staying near Cross Creek for a few days before New Year Publication notices for three new caches up the Rail Trail were sitting around for 12 hours before I noticed  I checked next morning and still no FTF's  Being so close I could not resist having a crack so early breakfast and got #1 by 7am The remaining two followed during the next hour Great After almost 4 years I now have 4 FTF's! So lovely morning nice cool shade and all down hill now back to the car Three people coming up the hill What can they be up to? When the cheery call came up the trail I knew there was only one possible candidate Yes the usual culprit on his FTF crusades Yeetrees and also Mrs Y and Ethness  I invited them all for a cup of tea at my place so I  think I was forgiven for being just a few minutes in front today
Thanks GSEL I don't normally get up at this hour!

After a chat and banter with the first to find cacher (and a discovery that he was part of the team that found [The Centre of NZ's Extended Continental Shelf](https://coord.info/GC86KJN) which was his first FTF ) it was off to find the last cache for today.

A most enjoyable walk this morning. TFTC GSEL and for not putting any near electric fences -although I didn’t see any, but you never know what is hiding near a cache!!

Yeetrees volunteered to collect the baking ('his home baking' as he called it [in his dreams!!]) for our morning tea invitation, which gave Mrs Yeetrees and I time to collect some of the answers for the multi and have a good ol' natter. Arrived at the car park with no sign of Yeetrees - slaving over the oven perhaps?!!!

Quote of the day, actually, more like the year: said in the carpark on our return, “WOW, 13,458 steps in under 3 hours!” A record for me.

Happy New Year GSEL and all COs. Thank you for putting out your caches for us to find.
