Located this one safe and sound on our wander through the park. A nice sheltered position away from view by the seated people higher up today. TFTC!
#13,921. I had the afternoon free to do some geocaching so came over to explore this regional park which I have not been to before. Never saw anyone else in the park during my 2 hour walk. After crossing paddocks which were fairly dry today (lucky as I was only wearing sandals) I decided to walk around the small gully rather than taking the direct route. This paddock was the only one I encountered today with stock present. Quite a lot of sheep but no cattle seen. So had to watch my step to avoid the poop. Got to the right object and after searching all around it finally located the hidden recess with the cache. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks dagonNZ for hiding it here and also your interesting descriptions of the history of this park and human use across the centuries.
Found it after a bit of looking. No pen so couldn't log but have a photo for proof. Good introduction to my partner as we didn't have to search too long
This place definitely needed a cache.
Well concealed, I had to look twice.
Thanks for hiding and maintaining.

We are out walking around Mutukaroa today adding a few more cache finds to today's date. On arrival here we soon located the cache, then realised that we no longer had our pen with us. A photo of the log and cache was taken as proof of having been here. TFTC
Taking my small dog for a walk around the park and looking for some caches. Thought I was going to end up in the wet but obviously was looking at distances incorrectly and the terrain went downhill quite sharply. Found two stumps and rather than get the phone out again thought I'd just look. Turns out it was at the first one I looked at so that was a bonus. A beautiful day for it. Thanks for placing dagonNZ!
No sheep or muggles on this Good Friday but lots and lots of poo! Don't wear your good shoes tftc
Out for some exercise after a work.
Finding this was a great feeling after a day with no results.
Had a few wooly spectators when I first found it But they all when camera shy.
Thanks dagonNZ

After a longer jog to this one, wasn't stumped by it at all. The sheep were too hot and bothered to even move out of the way. TFTC

First stop off here and a quick hop of the gate at GZ. A quick stroll up the hill and soon had the cache in hand. All good here and replaced as found. T F T C dagonNZ.
After dropping mrs c at the shops I headed off for an hours caching in the midday sun (mad dogs and all that) . This is a regional park I've not visited before so was pleased to be in a target rich environment.
New year has been and gone and the temperature has cranked big-style with late-20s for the last several days. After being away for the main holidays the caching has been fairly sparse but with mrs c back to work today it gives me a week before I head back myself to the home office and prep for moving South. Thanks to all COs for their caches today.
mrs c was keen for a trip to Sylvia Park shops and I was keen for a trip to the Harbour Bridge area for the new Virtual. So we settled on both and headed out mid-morning for a trip out. After heading to the bridge I left her at the shops and headed to Matukaroa Regional park for a first visit and was pleased for a few caches and a nice small walk around. I even managed a cache that's 20 years old this year so that was a bonus. And I did my GC8NEAT cache by CITOing at one of the cache sites so that was good too.

After 'Shrubbery' we climbed back over a fence and went down a cattle trail to locate 'Stump' There was a small stream keeping us from the stump, we could see it, but the boggy mud stopped us in our tracks. A bit of detour following a cattle trail past a very thorny bush until we found a place to get across. Finally got there, cache in good condition. Just one more fence to climb and then back to the car. TFTC
Gosh we had some fun getting to this one. Heading down the hill from shrubbery which was fine until we got to the swampy boggy mess at the bottom. Made our way along it until we found the driest spot to cross. Once that was done it was up the hill slightly to claim the find. Incredibly hot day so made the use of some shade before stopping to chat to a policeman and heading back to our cars. Thanks for the caches we found today.
Out and about this afternoon for a hike and a spot of geocaching around Hamlins Hill (Mutukaroa Regional Park). After finding "shrubbery" I made my way over to this GZ, heading across country. Certainly some of the more tricky terrain navigating to this one and a short sharp climb up to GZ. I think T1.5 is too low on this cache; in my experience the terrain here is trickier that all the other hides in this series. The find was super quick in the logical spot. The container, if I recall correctly, was missing a latch (with two more threatening to come off) and doesn't really close properly. Having said that, the contents are still bone dry. Right, I think I will climb up to the top of the hill and check out were the old water tank used to be next. Cheers for the adventure and for the cache placement!
Bit of a job finding our way across the little gully. Would be easier to approach from the other side!
Final find in my Kilimanjaro Reach the Peak challenge. With my daughter who climbed the actual mountain in Africa 7 years ago. Mission accomplished with much less effort than she had to expend.
Lovely walk, great spot for Miss 7 and Master almost 5 (aka Mister Muddybutt) to find.
Thank you to the sheep for providing the nice walking paths right to the cache.
87.
After a muddy slidy trip down the hill we found this one. Be aware of the sheep poo!

Considered leaving this one for another day as I was heading back towards the exit but I was in no rush so decided to attempt one last one. No problems finding this and cache is in good condition. Saw a cute tyre swing in the way there. Wonder how often that’s used! Thanks for all your caches today and bringing me back to this underrated gem wedged into industrial Auckland. Thanks for the short stumpy cache!
Thank you dagonNZ for all your caches here. We probably would never have visited Hamlins Hill if there were no caches hidden here although we have driven past countless times. In fact the hardest thing to do is to find the entrance and where to park. All good with this cache, thank you.
Had us stumped for a while... But trial and error soon had cache spotted. Thanks for this series we had a great afternoon at the park!
Had to make a trip to Sylvia Park, so thought we'd come and collect some treasures at the regional park next door.
This one was particularly tricky terrain wise as we nearly ended up in the gully below GZ.
Nice and easy find when we eventually got there.

Initially approached this one from the wrong angle and had to relocate to the correct spot. There were two potentials with this one but we got the right one first time.
Was out enjoying this park on a fine spring day. Walked up & over to GZ, enjoying all the scenic vistas. The vegetation has grown a lot since I was last here. Nice quick find. TFTC
Parked in way the wrong place and walked over the hill when I did not need to, so ran out of time to pick up more on the way to work this morning
Found this one right before I found a family of ducks and ducklings walking past.
Thanks for another one!

My first work trip out of Nelson since the late March Level 4 lockdown. Quite strange to be out and about with things almost normal while in other parts of the world things are definitely not going well at the moment. Time to find a few caches before heading to my hotel. Although I've been in this park for a cache or two in the past, this newish set took me to places I'd never been to before. My GPS took me to the right stump but the well hidden cache took a wee while to find. All good in the end. TFTC, Biggles.
No kids with us for the day so after completing an escape room this morning we headed over here for some fresh air and a wander.
This was the last for the day and a nice quick find, in the obvious spot. Cache in good condition.
Thanks for the cache.

Geez Louise that was a long walk across the grass to the far corner, once to find a road, fence and track. T4tc +TB
After walking around Mutukaroa Regional park, we decided to drive closer to this one which made this cache almost a park and grab. We followed a feral rabbit towards gz where the cache was quickly located. TFTC
Find number 6838. After being to the top I made my way to the road via this cache. Thankfully it was a quick find and I was soon on my way.Thank you for the placement.
Found it!!! Took the long way though - my own navigation skills were well out of kilter today! TFTC
As today is palindrome day and a souvenir was on offer I needed to find at least one cache. I was babysitting my nephew, and in an effort to keep him from playing on electronic devices all day I decided that we would head off to Mutukaroa Park, as it would be a good walk in the slightly cooler weather this morning.
We headed down into the valley from the ridge above. Wasn't expecting to find access to this point, so was surprised to see a gate up ahead as we approached GZ. If only we'd known before we could have skipped the long walk in the growing heat and stopped here for a quick park and grab - too late now.
There were two possible options for the cache so I headed to one and my nephew to the other, and before I'd even had a chance to search he called out that he'd found the cache. It was then a long slog back up the hill.

It was very hot day today and decided to stay at home until late afternoon. A bit of detour for me here to get this one but no problems at all. Enjoyed my walk here and left TB too. TFTC
