Day 3 of my trip. Staying the night in Gundagai. Got here early enough to have a pedal around and collect some caches Crunched some numbers at GZ. Cruised around the AL and the rest of town before heading to get this one. Nice ride back
Calculated GZ using the Coordinate projection method. Tried the other method and could not work out/understand the questions to come out with the same answer. At GZ found H2 before actually getting to the calculated GZ. Then found the cache under a nearby rock.Thank you RoostamanPS. I do enjoy these types of caches but had to let you know my comments. Maybe you can recheck them.
On our way back home along the M31 from one of our regular trips visiting family in Violet Town (VIC). We've never stopped here at Gundagai before (except for at The Dog on the Tuckerbox - we have stopped there EVERY time including today) as Holbrook is usually our lunch stop. But this trip we were keen to finally check the place out and were pleasantly surprised at not just the lovely and well-kept little town it is but the location as well. We will stop here more often that's for sure. Took a little to find the container at GZ as we (I) initially disregarded it as rubbish but one of the geokids was sweeping behind me and gave it a second look, unlike the syringe container about 5m from the north which I gave too much attention to yuk. The kids spotted a troupe of kangaroos grazing on the hillside as I was stamping and were quick to point them out to lady novo who always enjoys spotting any non-reptilian fauna. What a wonderful part of the world for them to live. TFTC, Bushfire/ Roostaman.#2035
Reperio 10:45Day 4 of our trip to Wagga Wagga, and Master Vitruvius and I headed out early this morning to round up a few more caches before heading for home. Our goal for the morning was to find the caches around Albert Lake, but not before going for a bush stroll for a couple. By mid morning we were headed for home stopping by and picking up a few along the way. Perfect day to be out and about.Gratias RoostamanAs a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV
Thanks to Roostaman for adopting this cache from our very good friend Bushfire. We sorted out the projection and found the cache!!A lovely sunny and cold afternoon in Gundagai.A favourite for the letterbox concept.
With Featherwaite we're on our way to Canberra for the GeoBash Mega over Easter. On our way we set our route to take in LGAs that I have no finds in. Day 1 we made it to Narrandera and Day 2 we arrived in Canberra.Unless stated this cache is in good condition.Apologies for the generic log.TFTC
Found with Team Waldron on our way to the Capital GeoBash in Canberra over the Easter long weekend. Thanks for the cache Roostaman!
Fancy finding a Bushfire cache here! Unfortunately we arrived at GZ about fifteen minutes to midnight on our Trip to the Canberra Geobash! Weve had a long trying day; leaving home on Phillip Island at 7am. We had a few important jobs to do in Melbourne, one, the most important job finished three hours later than expected which meant we got caught in peak hour traffic getting out of Melbourne. It was dark when we crossed the border and 11:30pm by the time we arrived at the posted coordinates! Luckily the posted coordinates were well lit and I could gather the information, project the final GZ and travel to them. The finding device led us astray slightly, but a wider search and The-Evil-Muggle made the find 90from where the device indicated, but it sometimes gets its directions wrong. The cache was stamped and returned to its hiding place before midnight! Well have to return in daylight sometime to see the view.
As time was starting to slip by, we took the easy option to calculate GZ. A short drive later, we were admiring the great views before getting down to search for the cache. As its a warm day, we did take note of the COs warning regarding snakes, but thankfully none were spotted.Cheers Bushfire and Roostaman.
During our weeks trip with Bare Foot Guru, Infoferret and Trinity to the Canberra Mega we logged as a combination of "BFG, CF, BIC, BITC" depending on who we were caching with at the time. The trip took us on a flight to Melbourne first, then a drive to Canberra, followed by a drive to Sydney before flying out again. Where possible I will add commentary to each find about the cache. Thanks for all the caches, hides and effort put into hiding and maintaining them.Solved this one reasonably easy (even though there was a lot of information to read). Did the Projection and drove to the final location. Read the scary notes and followed them, but nothing to be seen. Interesting water bottle cache. Great view from up here too.
Thanks bushfire for this letterbox cache which brought us to a fantastic view of the surrounding area.I love it when geocaching takes you along roads you wouldnt otherwise travel, to see such great panoramas such as this.No wriggly sticks to be seen, and weirdobiker put my Nordic walking pole to good use here fishing out the cache.Signed as CB88 for Cybergran V, weirdobiker, and Ronice88.

Canberra Geobash Road Trip 2024. Day One: Heading north via Wodonga, Adelong, Gundagai & Yass. Info gathered and cache found right on sunset. Lovely. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, Roostaman ??~????????~
Having left Tassie, we headed towards Canberra for the Mega and picked up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. Today we stayed at Gundagai and camped at Morley Creek while touring around the town, yep a great walking done.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks Roostaman for your cache placement.
Something special or unusual goes here:We did the calc's and now it was time to find the cache. [^] At GZ it looked like and obvious spot for the hide. It also looked to an obvious spot for a wriggling stick to hide. I leant down and thought I could see the cache (and only the cache) so it was with fear and trepidation that I grabbed the cache. No sticks wriggled. And there is of course a nearby series called snakes of the world! Good grief - stop playing with my psyche. [:o)][B)]The Generic Bit:The Capital Geobash Adventure 2024. Day 3: Wagga Wagga to Bowning. After spending the morning caching around in Wagga Wagga we had a bite to eat and headed east once again. As usual we followed the unfound boxes until it became a dash to our overnight digs....again. Once settled we went into Yass for a feed, some labs and a couple of caches as we toured about.***Thanks Roostaman for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Logs prepared and published through GSAK.
We are driving through on our way to Canberra for the Geobash. Stopped here for a look around and to do this multi. Thanks for all the interesting information on the boards and a nice walk up the main street. Cache was found before the wire haha.
Great to stop and pick up a Bushfire cache. Hes a top bloke who Ive enjoyed caching with on many occasions. I found your D2.5/T2.5 Regular Letterbox Hybrid called GUNDAGAI LETTERBOX. on 25 March 2024. It was find #18820 for me. Thank you Roostaman for placing this cache for our enjoyment in the wonderful state of New South Wales.
TFTC Roostaman your cache GUNDAGAI LETTERBOX. that we found today. Arrived in Gundagai mid afternoon and set up camp at Morley Creek just outside town. After a coffee we went out to find some caches. 1 DNF and 3 finds. Not bad. We have had this letterbox solved for quite a few years, just never had the chance to head to final GZ. Today we made it.Find Count: 19166
Lovely letterbox. No issues with calculating the projection, on a quick driver pit stop from Melbourne to Canberra. Collected some fuel then off to GZ. Stunning view up here. Never been up this part of Gundagai before so that was a treat. Used the convenient pen on top of the rock at GZ to sign the log. All good with the cache and contents. Stamp seemed to be missing though. Cheers. TFTC TNLN. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. Had done with Labs in few years ago but haven't done for Bonus as it's confused for me until we are on the way to Newcastle for Australian Deaf Games, so PAF for help.Stopped there for overnight, fav from me. because of beautiful viewFinally Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache Roostaman.
Found whilst travelling from Albury to Canberra (home) after having been in Ballarat to complete the GeoTour. Had my all-time favourite lamb cutlets from the Criterion Hotel and then walked across the road to attempt this Letterbox. Easy solve thanks to the projection tool and an interesting read about the history of the area. Arriving at the next spot, I thought that it may've been a several-waypoint cache but I didn't realise that the 3 hints are for the same location (i.e. it's a single-offset cache)! Looked closer at a likely hiding spot and spotted the cache, with this I had greater confidence to search a bit closer for the assistance wire and sure enough, it was soon spotted. Easy to retrieve the cache after that. It's amazing how much that muggles may miss unless they look closer at places such as this. Fantastic choice for a final location, TFTC!
Heading South and stoped for fuel. Made short work of the calculations and find was all good. Great bit of fun and a short break. SL TFTC
Found with isopeda on day 4 of our trip to Albury. On the way home and stopped to collect some strays. Tftc
barb2e and I are on our way home from a long weekend of caching and decided to have lunch in Gundagai. Before that we collected enough information for both options of calculating GZ, and over lunch made the calculations for a projection. At GZ we quickly found the wire (on the ground) and then poked around a bit. It wasn't until I went very low that I spotted, well, something. With help if the wire that something turned out to be the cache. TFTC and the historical information. *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
An interesting story and history. Popped over here while we were waiting for lunch to be plated up. I was a little skeptical that the projection would work but after we finished lunch I drove up and the hint suddenly made sense. Well done cache. Thanks for the fun. A favourite point for the effort.
A very enjoyable history lesson. Straightforward questions and a nice location for the final. TFTC Bushfire and Roostaman
Found with Moonb1 while travelling home from Canberra. We had worked it out on the way there, but lost the workings and had to do it again. Lovely view!
On way home from Canberra and had worked out finals last visit. No need for wire.
Thanks for the cache Roostaman

#3987 A day trip to Gundagai for some CO maintenance and to try our hand at some where we had previously been unlucky.
Staying in town some time ago we calculated and visited GZ on a couple of occasions a few hours apart.
Both times there was a character parked within about 20 metres just hanging out in his car. Yep, for at least 3 hours. Couldn’t believe our lack of luck. Had to give up and leave it for another day.
Much more successful today with a quick visit and find on our way in to town.
Thanks for the letterbox!

Sorted the numbers without a problem in the rain. Didn’t take long to locate the cache at GZ. Luckily the rain has eased a bit.
Over from New Zealand to attend the Rutherglen Mega. Now heading back to Sydney getting many caches along the way.

Visiting the lovely town of Gundagai to complete the Adventure Labcache we decided to complete this Letterbox cache after noticing who the CO is. After collecting a clue for the adlab we took some photos of all the other info and went back to the car to work out the coordinates in the cool air conditioned car, us Vic’s certainly are not use to 36° days. At GZ we made a quick find while admiring the views.
Thanks Roostaman for the letterbox placement.

We headed into the flooded eastern states for a week of geocaching fun. The mission was Frying Pan. The only December 2000 placed cache remaining in Australia. All other choices for this month are international. Traveling in style and comfort we selected the next cache on merit and forward movement. Some back tracking was required in the wettest areas. Wildlife seen included a lyre bird, king parrot and a single leech. Mozzies were a pest. Caches were found and signed. Wet logs were wet. Water does that. Numerous TOTTs were employed.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

A quick find after breakfast in Gudagai, on our way to the Whittlesea Event. OCW Brewmaker. TFTC
After collecting information, we had a lovely breakfast across the road before heading to GZ. Quick find and fantastic views. TFTC
Thought we had Gundagai pretty much sewn up cache-wise but there's clearly been some publishing happening since our last visit. So this perfect sunny day was dedicated to new caches and a couple of DNF's... yeah, and the coffee shop and bakery... We used the projection method for locating GZ and drove off to the final. And where else would it be but at one of the town's best spots. TFTLB Roostaman and harrowang for the PT. Left SA All the Way! TB.
#19539. Robmc and I decided to have a couple of days away and we decided the Jugiong area might be the place to go. Unfortunately with so much rain in the area recently it meant that both the land and nearly all of the caches were wet and in need of maintenance checkups.
This was the first cache for the day, after doing the AdLab in town. Such a sad history from the huge flood of 1852. I always enjoy a visit to Gundagai as it is such a pretty town surrounded by lovely rolling hills. Found the cache and added my name to the log. Rob had found it on an earlier trip.
Thanks Bushfire

Stayed overnight in Gundagai last night and decided to give this letterbox cache a go before leaving for Tumut this morning. Used the first method to calculate GZ and enjoyed the final placement area. SL at 8.35am Left: eagle pathtag as it seemed appropriate. #8981 TFTC Bushfire and Roostaman. Awarding a favourite point for cache notes and final destination.
We don't have a lot of letterbox caches in our found list, but I thought I'd give one a go. WP1 makes for excellent reading of a significant time in the local history. The bearing and distance gave me some grief. I suspect the reason was that c:geo changed the order of my GoTo locations as soon as I entered a new waypoint, so I kept projecting from the wrong location. Finally I got something that made sense and we were on our way. Plenty of likely spots at GZ, but eventually I spotted a flash of blue and with a stick I gingerly retrieved the cache. TFTC
This letterbox definitely called for a stop to the cafe near waypoint 1, we used method 1 to work out the required information for GZ, and after got a fresh brew before a short drive to GZ, a nice place to look out over the valley, cache was easily found and is all good
Day 3 of e.gregory1 and I’s trip to Yass, NSW and surrounds for a week away to find a few caches. Today we headed from Wagga Wagga to Yass, hitting the local trails and a few others around the area that were on our way.

Found on a week-long caching trip over to NSW and Victoria from Adelaide with gridge98.
Our main targets were the wherigo and challenge cache series’ around the Yass and Goulburn areas, although we also found quite a few other Unknown, multi, letterbox, virtual and traditional caches of interest along the way. We even managed to attend an event at Sutton and did a couple of caches just over the border in the ACT.
The middle of winter around the shortest day was probably not the best time to schedule our trip, particularly as we were camping. But despite a little bit of rain one night and sub-zero temperatures on another, the weather wasn’t too bad, albeit on the cloudy and cool side.
In all we covered about 3,300 km over the week and managed almost 350 finds each.
Thanks Roostaman for the cache.

This seems strange to be logging a cache that I have visited so many times since placing on the 3rd of January 2020
I have been staying in this town for many years as it is an ideal spot to break the long journey to Sydney.
I liked the story of the rescues of so many of Gudagai's early settlers and the great sculpures in the main street that I had to place a cache in this area.
Finally, I must thank my good friend Roosterman for odopting this guy as due to me being diagnosed with MND the future for me looking after this guy was not looking very good. I know it is in good hands.
And lastly, I will give it another favourite because I can now. Thanks for all the great logs that have been placed .
I really did over-complicate this puzzle. With help from owner, I picked up the cache this morning. Thank you.
TFTC our first cache like this one. Thanks for the history lesson and the little adventure
On our way home from the Mega, dropped in Gundagai, did all our sums in town, then to find the correct road to GZ, then a quick find, stamped log and replaced. Thanks to Bushfire.

Date 11/02/22. Browsing the map and saw that gundaghai had a letterbox and another cache at the lookout. Mmmm? Pretty sure we did them on our way back from Victoria. Sure enough, we did. Cant believe I didnt log these at the time. Great little brain teaser and good use of the distance/direction tool. TFTL

On the way to the Wangaratta Mega we stopped for a few caches here and there....mainly around the charging stations

I took a look at this cache late in the day, I was starting to feel exhausted from the heat so I gathered the needed info then went on and set up camp for the night by the river,I worked out the final set of coords later that night then stopped in to make the find the following morning.
Arriving at GZ nice an early before the heat kicks back in and made the a find.
Thanks for the cache

Muggle65 and l were returning from Temora. As he had not found a Letterbox in NSW, l thought this might be fun. We gathered the numbers and soon had a good looking GZ. Once there we checked the obvious spots and a lovely dry cache was soon found. Loved the vista we were offered also. Thank you so much for bringing us here
Heading home to Tumut from our Temora CITO and was looking for a letterbox. suggested this one & off we went to solve the puzzle thanks for the scenery…. Spectacular
Headed away for a bit of a post lockdown trip to central west NSW. My main goal for the trip was to find GC2F6F (2001 cache), but as always I couldn't drive past as if it wasn't there. This was one of the many caches I found on my road trip.
Another detour on the way home to find a specific cache. Really enjoyed the way the town had set this up with onfo boards and an impressive sculpture.
Thanks to the CO's for hiding your cache and contributing in a small way to the fun I had.

Don’t you hate those morning when you have time to finally sleep in, but your body just doesn’t want to?!
So while finishing off breakfast, a last minute decision which blossomed from a passing comment that there were ftfs still available in Tumut and we were on the road.
It was a grey, chilly day, but we ticked a few boxes - ftfs, clearing out Tumut and clearing out Gundagai too. And although the weather wasn’t the best we had a great time.
This cache: Thankfully I had a bit of help from Tankengine and my first effort had me a little off and away, then he steered me right. Tftc bushfire!!!

This cache was one of the main reasons for visiting Gundagai today (apart from a picnic at the playpark for the kids).I solved the coordinates during our previous visit and today we could drive strait to gz. The cache was quickly found. Thanks for creating this letterbox and sharing the interesting history of this beautiful little town. TFTC!

With quick data collection, we had the required data and were able to complete the required projection. Then it was a drive to a very scenic location where the cache was located quite quickly although H2 should now be "Under the large rock ". Thanks Bushfire for the cache.
We stopped here for coffee this morning and read up on the two rescuers from all those years ago. We were soon wondering how to access an odd spot before noting we'd missed a decimal point on the small phone screen. Error corrected, we repositioned, employed the tool, signed and rehid. Thanks Bushfire.

Day 5 of the Canberra adventure. It’s the last day, but won’t be leaving until after the RAAF fly over and some more challenge caches.
It was time for the journey home and so I made sure to break it up with some caching! These caches were picked to help meet an LGA challenge.
Gathered the required info and made my way to GZ. A beautiful view from the top just as the sun was setting.

An interesting piece of local history.
At GZ, cache was soon located and retrieved. The hint is brown, not white now.

This is our first chance to take off in our motorhome and test it out. It is so long since I have been caching, I am feeling very rusty, with very little caching over the last 18 months. Now we are semi retired, so we will no doubt get familar and catch up on some very late logs.
This was the last for the day and it really stretch my brain, trying to remember how to do these projections. Besides I think this was easier than the second method.
We were very delighted to make a quick find, not that we could find the extra hint to assist us. We had only just been to a nearby hide but loved taking in the views along the way.
Thanks Bushfire for placing the cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy the find.

Thank you Bushfire for all the work you have put into this cache. We enjoyed all the information and the structures at this site. The 1st option was taken to solve the task as we got a little confused with the other! GZ was located and the log sign and replaced.
On my way home from Jugiong to Beechworth.
Broke the journey with a few caches.
Just noticed the letterbox as I drove into town. I had not had a good look at the sculpture before, and certainly not read the information boards.
I used the first method and did the projection, although my GPSr only has whole degrees.
Nice view of the early morning sun from GZ.
Thanks, Robmc.

Stretching our wings again, clocking up the Kms - 700+, first interstate travel for a year.
What a wealth of information about Gundagai - too much to fit in one envelope!
We chose the projection method to establish the GZ (other method not really that simple).
Not quite what we were expecting, but our name is safely in the log.
Thanks Bushfire for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Victoria is out of lockdown and home I must go...
After packing up my tent I had a little walk around the town, a spot of caching and I was fortunate to see the horse showjumping competition.
I couldn't leave without completing this clever cache.
I projected my path and was on my merry way.
I am really glad I did this cache as the views along the way were amazing and a nice way to farewell NSW.
At GZ I somehow missed the tool but I had my own in the car and the log was signed. Afterwards I saw the tool!
Thanks for the story, cache and being able to use 2 tools today.

Worked on this one last night, and calculations were spot on. Located tool and easily reached cache. Enjoyed the history behind this cache, and watching the many Kangaroos here this morning, TNLN thanks.
#10434 - 10:46:00 AM; Headed south of the border for a couple of days and as I was travelling solo, I took the opportunity to collect a few of the caches which remain close to the highway along the route. I took a detour through Gundagai for a few GCA caches and decided I should do this one while I was in town. Ended up using the projection method as I could seem to interpret the clues for the other option. Once at GZ, confusion on what the second part of the hint meant also delayed the find, although I did eventually locate the cache and add my name to the log. TFTC Bushfire
Chose the projection method - 1st time - and it's a lot easier than trying to find the answers....which i also tried last time we were here found on day 2 of our Gundagai adventures. The cache wasn't what I was expecting, but the views were fantastic. Thanks for bringing us up here and TFTC.
We looked under and around and behind and geograndson found the mischievous thing
Caching with geograndson Bailey today

Still out caching with my bestest buddy, Finalf29 Now thinking of heading home after a wonderful few days.
Different type of letterbox cache. The history was very interesting. Numbers quickly found and crunched... love projections!... no I'm not kidding, I really love projections! The cool breeze at GZ was much appreciated! Thanks

We finally made it up to Tumut to catch up with family after a very restricted time in Victoria. With four youngsters to entertain we decided a visit to the lovely playground in Gundagai was in order, and how happy were we to notice a letterbox hybrid cache pop up on our phone.
We grabbed a pen and some paper and set out to discover where we needed to go. The “A B C D’s” were straightforward, with the answers easy to discover on the historical panels. We had read the story of the floods and the rescues on a previous visit, but it’s always nice to revisit history.
After the “A B C D’s” came the fun bit! (I might be saying that a bit sarcastically). We worked it out standing in the full sun near the history wall and sculpture. Our new coords had us over 7 k’s away from GZ.
Back to the picnic table and the shade. Attempt 2 had us in a slightly different spot, but still over 7 k’s away. Finally, on attempt 3 we came up with a set of coords that made complete sense. A short drive, a bit of a search and we had the cache in hand.
We stopped to look at the fantastic view on the way back. What a great spot to look over the Murrumbidgee and the Gundagai flood plains. Worth doing the cache just for the view. A fav from us.

Found. Full log coming soon.
Last cache of the day. It had been a huge two days in Albury and Wagga Wagga, with highlights being a 4-hour walk up over, and around Nail Can Hill, just west of Albury, 20 adventure lab caches, heaps of solved puzzles found, and four multis in one day (pretty rare that I get more than one).
In town I stopped at the signs and read the information. I projected some coords and then tootled off to find the cache.
A nice history lesson. I had no idea about that event in 1852, and knew nothing of the people involved.

As Goldenwattle stated that Bushfire was in lockdown in Victoria so could not do the required maintenance but all good again as I was here on the 18th December and checked it all out and big thanks to Goldenwattle for her offer of help.
The wire is not white anymore but is still hanging in the nearby tree and it is purely to remove the container from under the rock and not have to reach in and run the risk of a snake being under there and not liking your intrusion into it's home.
Stay safe and enjoy.

Hi there Bushfire.
We found your cache **"GUNDAGAI LETTERBOX."** today.
We had a wonderful afternoon trip to Canberra with baby & Mrs gopher to attend an anniversary celebration event.
Thanks for placing this cache here. Over the years, Geocaching has taken us on many adventures and to lots of wonderful destinations all over Australia. Without 'caching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic wanderings. 'Caching has also introduced us to a diverse group of like-minded people, many of whom we now call friends.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Smiley Badge
Thank you Bushfire for adding to our adventure.
Regards
Ian & Penny
