TftcIt was only slightly cooling in the Tamban, then it was in Kempsey. But i was wanting to grab a couple of D1.5 -2/T1.5-2, so we did a slight detour on the way home. Turning this one into yellow smilie. Last time it turns out i didn't go in far enough to find this one that was safely tucked in its hidey spot.
Found quickly with Portstevo, tftc, just a few more quick ones then we'll call it for today, hot and the spots of lantana are hard
Found on our first full day in our Kempsey trip, Signed as HG (Hunter geocachers). Found with Deni F, banj5150, Shaneo58, Lee 737 and Samuel 737, tftc!

#8150Hunter Cachers in Kempsey event has brought us up north for the weekend, and theres plenty to do. Targeting the good DTs mainly, and other cool types or caches that look fun!Attacking the Slim Dusty trail and surrounds today with Banj5150, shaneo58, Deni_f and Crying Cowboy, hoping we dont get attacked back by the rain.Signing all caches as HG 29/9/24.Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache OzGeoMuster

Second DNF with a lot of burnt logs at gzStarting the next trail. I managed to solve a few easy puzzles to begin and then as i solve more of the difficult ones I'll rope my brother in to helping.
#45/65
I sat on the log whilst signing the log, and it cracked a bit. Still plenty fine to hide the cache though.

This track towards the closest entry point into the bush is quite pleasant to walk along. We had some fun swinging from the large liana vines along in the bush before getting down to the serious business of finding the cache. how this survived the last flood I don't know but survive it did. MS found it in a spot I'd already checked. tftc
Puzzles were solved sometime ago at home. Now to turn them into smiley faces.
Still going along on foot as the terrain is to rough to drive along, some parts are extremely overgrown and I agree with Jebjeb as I have never been along a track like this.
The best TOTT today was secateurs. They certainly got a good work out.

We had started solving the puzzles but stopped when the event was canceled.
Now we have arrived in the region and have searched for and found some of the solved unknown caches.

Found with pprass, DiMorgan, coongoola, ozglory, KWmoo, Bobbiesgirl, DiamonJs and geono.
Log signed as MNCM to represent our large group.
In total we found 37 caches today, the terrain was very tough but we made it out alive with just a tick and a blown out boot the only snags.
Thanks for the cache

I saw that the MNCM were planning an assault on Slim again and decided to join it. Some parts of it were about what I imagined from previous posts, some weren't bad but then you went back to the really we have to do that. What a great group of people to do these with.
Thanks for a great series. TFTC

After missing the first assault on the Slim Dusty Trail I was determined not to miss this one, so was happy to be part of the MNCM (Mid North Coast Mob). Have had the puzzles solved for ages and was keen to make a start, but don't think our trusty Commodore would have been up to the task for these. Certainly was an effort in that thick terrain, some parts were easier than others and for once I only came away with one small scratch, some sort of record for me. The copy and paste logs do not retract from my appreciation of the effort involved in creating the double geoart and the puzzles.
Found at 2:13 PM in the company of bobbiesgirl, coongoola, DiamonJs, DiMorgan, geono, huskymaddog, KWmoo, ozglory and we signed the log book as "MNCM" (ie Mid North Coast Mob)
What a great day for such an adventure, not a cloud in the sky and nice dry bush conditions. A bit of a struggle here and there getting through the bush, however the machete took care of that. A lot ofthe time we were going downhill, but even when there was a slight incline - it took a lot out of most of us!
Thanks OzGeoMuster for the adventure and we are pleased that we have finally finished the series.

Log signed as MNCM to represent our large group from around the area.
Our plan was to pick up pprass at 7.30am & proceed to the meeting point. Thought we would be one of the 1st to arrive but were surprised that we were the 2nd last to arrive, geono arriving the previous day & had set up camp over night.
Started with our DNF from our previous trip out here. With all the preperation done by pprass we continued along the well planned track with all the drop off & pick up points having been organised.
We were all pleased when the lunch time location was arrived at & all had time to refresh & prepare for the rest of the series. The ache & pains & stiff joints started to show up but the job was to finish what had been started.
It was the very last cache of the day that pprass claimed his 30,000 find.
We returned back to our starting point for photos. Glad to have completed the series some of the others have to return another day.
Thankyou OzGeoMuster for all the puzzles & the amazing art work that has been placed in the our area.
This is certainly a series to remember.

Let me start by thanking the cache owner for the time and effort they have put into caching for ourselves and others to enjoy.
Most will be cut and paste logs but in no way does that mean we don't appreciate your efforts
At the end of day 2 my gps reset its self and in the process deleted all my comments so I can't really remember which was what. sorry
Also forgat to say found with Staybe and co.

We've been on this site quite a lot during Covid so were happy to find another relaxing puzzle.
Back into the thick of the forest as we came to what we'd usually call an obvious GZ but the hide was anything but obvious. Good co-ordinates narrowed the search down and the cache was found in it's lair. TFTC OzGeoMuster.

Probably best to park near #17 and walk along the road for #18, 19 and 20. Road gets narrow and bumpy after #19. TFTC
Solving the puzzle was a little easier than the stomping into the cache site . All things in place.Signed, sealed and replaced. Thanks OGM..
Number 8 for the day. GPS a bit jumpy around this one. Could clearly see the large target despite it wanting to point me in another direction. Log signed and on to the next!
Found this with MummyPenny this morning, our last before heading out of the area. Here we were in the middle of nowhere when another vehicle comes down the track and parks next to us. So good to run into wazza9 and Nana Nel in the wild. Thanks OzGeoMuster.
Attempting this series with Wazza9 today, ended up finding 38 caches, this is not an easy series, firstly some of the puzzles were challenging and then the terrain is not easy for this nana. Glad I had a walking pole to get through the vines and lantana. 1 leech got a feed of my blood, lucky I thought more would be out there. No snakes to seen thank goodness. Stamped all logs and replaced, thanks to OzGeoMuster.
TFTC,
Doing a generic log today.
Heading north and have made Kempsey our first base, here for 3 nights but only caching along this series today.
Worked all the puzzles for the Geoart at home and must admit that we obtained some help with a few very difficult ones. We started at #11 and continued to the next closest all the time.
It is by no means a walk in the park and while the caches have been visited by others, there are several caches that you need a special very strong TOTT to make your way through the growth. Given the new Lantana growth, I wouldn't like to be out there in a month. Many cuts caused by the Lawyer Vine and at one cache where you have to cross a creek, I went down to both knees in what I thought would be solid soil.
Came across BackTrac and Money Penny and had a chat before moving on to complete 38 caches. Started about 9.30am and called it a day at 3.30pm. All but one are in good condition and within 5m of where our GPS's took us. It was 11m away.

This was Day 2 of our trip north to Kempsey to complete the remaining 48 solved puzzles in the Slim Dusty series. Our group of 4, PelDroedGwin, Team Canary, The Bebes and Brewmaker, aka Team PelCanBebBrew managed to squeeze them all in before dark at 4:50pm. A great long weekend spent with good buddies and some long hikes. Most were found easily thanks to the hints, though some of the cross country bush bashing took it's toll. Thanks for the series. Some were signed TC/TB/PDG/BM. TFTC
As travel restrictions lifted I was keen to stretch my wings/legs, PelDroedGwin and I hopped in the geoKombi and headed to Kempsey.
I wouldn't call myself a Slim Dusty fan but I loved this series of puzzles.
Day 2 saw us with a big target. We'd collected 17 caches from the series the day before which left a lot to do today!
With a clear plan of what we needed to do we got started, taking a short break for picnic lunch.
The terrain seemed a little tougher today with lots of fallen trees and lantana or maybe the legs were just out of practise after iso.
A fun day with Brewmaker and Team Canary.
A nice quick puzzle

With things settling down and safe caching now allowed there were a number of plans looked at for which way to head for the long weekend. For me with a trip to Brisbane now confirmed for next week Kempsey became my preference plus it should be a little warmer than some of the other options considered.
After a few solo caches yesterday before two more members of GOM (PPE and Baktrak) arrived for the days outing and then Team Canary, The Bebes, PDG and Brew maker joining for some in the afternoon. Plenty of bush bashing, stepping and trip over logs and getting to GZ’s to find the hides.
Certainly a lot of effort with the art work but equally the same getting through some the lantana and other nasties as part of the terrain. Unfortunately some of the co-ords were not that good and the hints could have been one of many and often not the obvious one. Certainly possible to do all in one very big day and we visited 58 in one day and could have started earlier and left a bit later but I was reminded I didn't let the others stop for lunch!
Signing duties completed and cache container re hidden. TFTC

Found this one a bit tricky to remove but good for small hands. Cache in great condition with excellent coords. A blank log sheet gave us a FTF.
If the log sheet is small we may sign as CG. We also visit any trackables that may be travelling along with us for mileage.
Lots of thanks to OzGeoMuster for placing the cache and adding to our caching adventures.
