I located a few caches today near Dunedin and on the Otago Peninsula whilst en route to Portobello for the night. This one was a quick find but it really had to be based on the size of it. Tried to cover it up a little better than how I found it. #7363. TFTC.

On 6th January this year, I was lucky enough to be travelling to Thailand. Here is my caching log for the day:GCA4334: Elephants are closeAll is in great condition here. No need to archiveI am visiting Thailand with a group of friends. Our primary reason to visit is to go scuba diving however before the dive trip, we as spending three days at Elephant Hills. We have visited the Elephant Sanctuary, gone on a canoe excursion, and spent a lovely day at Cheow Lan Lake where we had a delicious lunch, and went swimming and kayaking.Today we're off on a jungle hike, but beforehand, I had to go and see if this cache was still there. I wasn't sure as it was disabled. On arrival, the cache was found in excellent condition, so I'm not quite sure what it is potentially being archived. There is a new log sheet and new zip lock bag in the container. Thanks, megalodon for placing a cache here for our enjoyment.-Thanks, Natalie247, for reminding me of an excellent day.
Natst se pak prodrala houtm njak mlad ochrnkyn prody, kter la naplnit pasti proti oposumm jedem, a ta mi poradila, e nco divnho vidla v zemi pln mimo souadnice. No byla to keka. Today I found another old cache from November 2000 in Unity Park and then went to see the Otago peninsula. I enjoyed geocaching and nice views and made it to the end to the colony of albatrosses and blue penguins. However, neither type of animal can be seen here without taking part in an organized tour, and they were sold out and it started to rain. So I went around the lookout points and took a different route over the ridge of the cliffs back to Dunedin. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Czech republic.
No traffic heading to find this, but then struck multiple camper vans and small buses on the way back. Quick find today. TFTC
Cache 1602 last minute trip to Dunedin/Oamaru. Main aim of the trip is 2 D/T spots, large and not chosen size caches for a challenge, sign some other challenge caches and maybe get a few oldies if time allows This cache was on the large listT4TC
Our last cache for the day, a nice easy find thanks. Stunning day, amazing views from up here.
We are from Christchurch and came down to Dunedin to do a train trip to Oamaru. Then had a days caching and exploring the Pyramids before heading home. Of course we ran out of daylight so are having a wee detour on our way home to pick up some of the caches we wanted. Don't remember anything special about the 6 Jan. Thanks for this cache Natalie247.
Evidently it's Eddie Redmayne and Rowan Atkinson's birthdays. I also have a friend born on that day. Thanks Natalie247
A nice quick find. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are heading to Invercargill for a tramping club 75th jubilee, so we left a bit early in hope that the weather would be fine, so we could get a bit of caching in. So far it has been good, fingers crossed for the rest of the time away.

#22013. Troodles likes to keep her finds of large containers ticking over, which is how this trad ended up on "the list" for today. KiwiChris got stuck in and found this one, while I was still sitting in the car trying to work out why my normally reliable GPSr was saying the cache was several kilometres away. TFTC.
En route to Taiaroa Head and there was some caching to be done on the way .
I am trying to increase my count of large sized container finds, so a drive by bucket was a must do. While I was aiming for another location, KiwiChris got stuck in and found the cache. TFTC.

On a geocaching expedition with StreetWalkerNZ and Troodles (who wants to increase the number of 'large' containers that she has found, hence the search for this one.) I got to GZ first as SW was involved in trying to get his Garmin to behave and T was aiming for a different spot.

I found it hard to believe. A 10 l bucket beside the road, but pulled in and the cache was only 7m away. Soon found, and left it properly hidden and the lid securely closed. Thank you, Natalie.
With the recent bad weather the bucket has lost its lid and was rather waterlogged. We searched for lid but no luck, tried to cover cache until owner can replace.
Found on our 2nd day of excursions on this beautiful Peninsula. Lovely reminders of our forebears farming practices up on the rocky Knob above. Well worth the walk on a beautiful day. TFTC
Dropped penguin tb. Big bucket
Heading out to the end of the peninsular, I had planned a route to collect caches that would be as close to park and grabs as possible, hopefully with sensible parking areas. We had been lucky on this road not meeting any traffic on dodgy corners, and as we approached this cache we could see a vehicle coming from the other direction and a great place to park. The courteous driver pulled in so that we could pass just as we stopped and indicated and hoped they would carry on.
Once the coast was clear GeohoundandI sprinted up and found the cache. She dropped off a penguin TB.
She did replace the lid as tightly as possible, even though it was only placed loosely on top when she found it.

Time for another CJ-Curry solo adventure. Feels like it's been too long! Today I thought I'd tackle the Harbour Cone, but of course you gotta pick up caches on the way first. Started here and immediately made things more difficult for myself. Parked some three metres away (maybe less) from the cache but I decided to try another hint object a little (read: twenty metres or so) further away. After deciding to be less silly, I went back down and grabbed the cache easily. Cheers!
Spotted a bit of a geotrail which took me to the cache. Nice large container too which is why I came here. I needed a couple of large finds for a challenge.
Thanks for the cache, Natalie247

Out this way today for lunch as well as some caches. Thanks Natalie247 for placing, I needed another large container for my latest challenge. Also the view is worth stopping for.

Out and about with way for KJR's event. I was on a mission to get the points needed for Reach the Peak. Time to head up the hill for this one and get a few up this way. TFTC Natalie247
Another good parking spot. A nice sized hide too. Jude_E and I are on another road trip. We stayed in Dunedin last night. It was a bit rainy yesterday. That hindered the caching a bit. It's just blowing a gale at the moment. Thanks for hiding this cache Natalie247 I appreciate it.
On a caching trip to the Dunedin area with Nosynel. Our third day on the road and we have headed out to the peninsula for a drive. Have cached out this way before. I enjoy the road and views. Nice big bucket here! Tftc.

Stopping our drive around the peninsula. It will go help with our October spelling challenge. The track was closed due to Lambing season, so we just located the container, both the logbook and container were in really good condition. 6th January have dramatically changed for us. In Canada, we usually stayed home, and didn't do much. But in 2018, during our Tour of the Pacific, we shared a winter tradition with friends in Vietnam: Galette des rois, and almond filled pastry, delicious. Now in NZ, 6th of January, we are usually exploring some part of the country, enjoying summer!

It is strongly recommend that whilst we go for a walk for exercise, we need to take care on shared surfaces and geocaching should not be done at this time; https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/New+Zealand
To remove temptation, I am disabling this cache and ask kindly that you do not find this cache during lockdown.
Remember there is more than physically finding a cache, there are plenty of puzzle caches you can do at home. Or if you live near a multi you can walk the trail and save the find for another day. For more info or connect with wider community see Geocaching New Zealand on Facebook.

Well that took me longer than it should have! Should have had more faith in the GPS. All nice and dry inside. TFTC.
I couldn't believe that it was possible to hide a 10L bucket at this spot, but there it was. Don't think that this date has been memorable for me- I'm usually already working anyway. Gloom. Thanks for this hide.
Down in dunnas for the weekend ...on a long overdue caching mission around the city with kjr as my guide.....

Finding a few caches before the rain. Staying a few days as weather not good in Canterbury
Visiting Dunedin for the weekend. Enjoyed a cycle out here along the Portobello road. Great to see all the work upgrading the footpath/cycle path. So a total of 40 km cycling with 2 hour walk up Harbour Cone in between and some refreshments at Portobello. Pretty tired by the end. Still got 4 caches on the walkway and some wonderful views. Thanks for the adventure and smileys. This cache was all fine and great to see a large cache.
Thank you for this great-sized cache, Natalie247.
I decided to have a bit of a drive out this way - and was really pleased to see there was a Large cache on the way - they are few & far between !
Left TB which I picked up earlier in the week.

Out and about today for some caching. Had our family xmas a few days ago before we left home so today was just us. Decided to hit central Dunedin today as figured there would be less people around. The only people we did seem to hit was a couple of Chinese tour groups.
Another quick OTD find, at least the NZ ones don't have snakes making their homes on top of them. tftc

Out for a bike ride enjoying the first day of the last month of spring. Such incredible views - and a couple of caches on the radar. Starting from where we parked the bikes, it took an embarrassingly long time to check each possibility in turn until we reached the right one. A large, wow, that's more like it! Moving on the TB.
Tomorrow the lambing season closure is over and Harbour Cone is open again!

Had to sit out and wait while a couple changed into all their walking gear and heading off. Very cold and windy up here today so I don't envy them. Nice quick find of the huge container after they were out of sight. TFTC # 15,524
Had to try a few approaches to get this cache - mainly due to a muggles car blocking the obvious route! Audacious hide. Walked up from Bacon St, on to Harbour Cone, then back down via the other side of Bacon St track. Dunner stunner today!
Distracted by muggles that turned up to climb to the top. Did that last year so not today. Then struggled to find anything. Back to the van to ponder and set off the way I should have first time and got it straight away. Damn the muggles

Found the parking easy enough, then the real fun started. Followed a few trails, searched a few decoys, someone wrote the co-ords where off, so I tried them. Even walked into a hole up to my thigh! I am guessing the remains of a stump rotted, or fallen tree even? luckily I was wearing my tramping boots, so no harm here. Just gave me a bit of a fright, as I was on one level, and the next on another
This is not being found as quickly as I thought, then returned to car for a think, spotted a different approach, and this time meandered my way to this large cache.

A quick park & grab for this one. Looked at a couple of hint objects before picking the right one. TFTC
Surprise, surprise. It already had a name on the log from this morning. Nice big container and the cache was well covered. I spotted the geo trail leading to it.
I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

Since we were so close after the last find it would of been a pity not to get this one. Really put a time pressure on for the rest of the day.....................would rather have kept on caching.
We searched a few potential hint objects at this location before finding the correct one, which for us was about 9 metres northeast of the coordinates at S45 51.481 E170 38.624. TFTC
The escape from the city was welcomed, really enjoyed the views from the top road as a passenger as we wound our way towards the goal.

First of the OTD caches for me. The prospect of a cache a day for the whole year certainly excites me! Found with Napoleon_Solo. Not sure how the "call" went out to find people to contribute to the series, but it might be worth remembering that not everyone is on Twitbook, or InstaFace or whatever it's called. TFTC.
