26-Oct-24
It is still up there.

28-Jul-24
Couldnt spot it anywhere.

28-Jul-24
No luck today. Maybe the strong winds lately have dislodged it.

20-May-24
A quick retrieval, but took me quite a bit to get back up until I decided to move around the tree and do it on easy mode... Pay attention to the direction of the protrusion! TFTC.

TFTC Found with ButterflyVenom

18-Feb-24
TFTC found with GeoMazeRunners

03-Jan-24
Thought we would do some tree fishing. Geoian spotted and TOT used to recover and replace cache. TFTC

03-Jan-24
After a dnf on a multi, we moved onto some tree fishing, chasing the higher DT ratings. This was spotted reasonably quickly, the long arm deployed, and CIH. TFTC

13-Nov-23
Cache was on the ground. Has been replace back on it perch.

12-Nov-23
My 2nd DNF here. Pretty close to an hour of craning my neck and examining branch after branch.I persisted partly because I believed I needed an Attribute from this one for a difficult Challenge but around the hour mark, I checked again and discovered I didnt need this one after all doh!

01-Oct-23
I must get out to find this one, but in the meantime Hot Pies!!

29-Jun-23
Nice quick find by geoson who eally enjoys his fishing. Thanks for the cache.

28-Jun-23
The pole was at full extension but no difficulty retrieving, signing and returning. Thanks for the placement and fun.

17-May-23
Found but will come back with longer tott, ours was just too short haha

17-May-23
Found the tree fish
Thanks for the cache

25-Apr-23
Targeting 3 tree fishing caches today with hubby and son. The kid tried first, but as the cache is higher than our pole, he didn’t have the strength to retrieve the cache while holding the pole up off the ground. Hubby took over and didn’t struggle too much. TFTC!

25-Apr-23
Got this one. Thanks for arranging the hide.

20-Apr-23
Got it ️ still enjoying this tree fishing thing. Last one for the day. Appreciate having a little cluster locally to go and target rather than planning a whole day adventure.
TFTC.

13-Apr-23
On holidays with alphag_25 from Mackay but sadly now homeward bound. Stopped in Brisbane for a couple of days to grab some of the higher DT caches to fill in some holes. A last minute early morning dash to grab the last couple local to where we are staying. Thanks to all the CO’s for placing and maintaining the caches for our enjoyment.

GC8HZ0Z Postie Series - Tree Fishing No. 6

small traditional cache 4.5/2.0

TFTC SL in good condition

Geocaching with mackay_geocaching whilst on holidays. Have travelled down from Mackay Qld through Rockhampton, Maryborough (JBF Mary Poppins GeoArt), Gympie, Wivenhoe Dam Kayaking caches, Toowoomba (SSE GeoArt, Redwood Park, Challenges) and then stayed in Brisbane at the Pine Rivers Showgrounds Lawnton, heading up to the Sunshine Coast and on to Maryborough then Rockhampton then home back to Mackay. Doing as many as possible mystery caches, Good DT combos, virtuals and earth caches and the assortment of traditionals. Checking out the local tourist items and got a Camel ride at Summer Land Camels Harrisville. Have got the Kayak out on the water for some and the Segways hitting the bike trails.

Thanks Brislions for placing this cache for our enjoyment.

We must have had the right conditions today as we spotted the cache on approach to GZ. Retrieval went to plan, log signed and the cache was put back in place. Thanks Brislions for this one and a fav for the series.

Brislions I found your cache Postie Series - Tree Fishing No. 6 on 9/3/2023, 6:00 pm. This is my find 4826 and find # 8 today. Came down here for the third time, still have cache blindness. Messaged CO brislions for some help. He came down to show me where it was. Very well camouflaged in the tree. My advice come around when it is bright and sunny. My attempts were made in cloudy weather and near sunset. Thanks brislions for taking the time to come down. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

06-Mar-23
I am visiting our state capital this weekend to send off my Aunty, Uncle and Grandmother on their final trip along the Tweed River. I happened to pick up my 8th loop while I was at it plus added a few more caches to meet challenges and attended the Clean up Australia day CiTO at the South Brisbane cemetery to see a few friends that I have gained since I started caching in 2018.
Another one that was DavidWazzas eyeline but it turned out that this was one that someone had twisted the loop into something that wouldn’t be out of place in the corner of the screen on an ABC television program. I was unable to retrieve it the last time I was here as it was that tight it could not be removed from the branch so I advised the CO of its predicament and he promptly rectified it.
So, today I can rectify that log. I don’t really call it a DNF as I certainly found it, but could not retrieve it. Thank you Brislions for keeping this one alive long enough to make amends.

05-Mar-23
This afternoon following the morning's CITO event, I took the opportunity to head north to Warner and Joyner in order to prioritise tree fishing and other higher D-T geocaches, as well as find a few from the Joyner *Witch* series. During my session, BenM70 and dahumbug joined me whilst visiting a few locations, and then I scampered home as light began to fade.

This was the last cache for BenM70 to find, as he told me the story during his previous visit when this geocache was almost interwoven with the tree itself, making it impossible to extract the cache. I still hadn't found No.5 ot No.6 in the *Postie Series - Tree Fishing* series, so they were two good targets for me. As the CO had promptly performed maintenance since BenM70's cache, the cache was now good to be found, and when we arrived, it only took a few minutes of looking upwards before BenM70 spotted the cache. The fishing TOTT duties were performed, and cache safely brought to the ground. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Brislions for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

30-Jan-23
Brislions I didn’t find your cache Postie Series - Tree Fishing No. 6 on 30/1/2023, 11:53 am. GPSr was pointing to a cluster of trees. Searched around but wasn’t able to locate.

30-Jan-23
Just checking it is still up there. It does blend into the dark branches

16-Oct-22
Tftc Brislions, out and about today looking at getting some caches that have D/T ratings that are not available closer to home.
Took ages to spot this one but the
Co ords were spot on

10-Oct-22
Couldn't get it but I see it

20-Aug-22
The horses willed us to it [:) Thanks very much!

25-Mar-22
Out and about with Duppers searching for tree caches. Another found signed and returned to it's location. TFTC

25-Mar-22
Spotted by Duppers, caught by Shazzar66. Teamwork TFTC

13-Mar-22
This was right in the extremes of where I had my hook set up. Just managed to pluck and return it.
Thought I might have had to head back to the car for some adjustments but managed to just make it.

12-Mar-22
I couldn’t see it on the day of my visit but someone did better the next day, so no dramas.

17-Feb-22
DisSister was stretched to the limit literally here but finally managed to secure the cache and return it safely. TFTC

17-Feb-22
I had seen that this had been fixed up since our last attempt so we decided to return today. I was at full stretch as I struggled to make a connection but soon the cache was down. The return was equally as challenging and now I’d love an arm massage! TFTC Brislions

08-Jan-22
Maintenance done all fixed. Found someone hook. All good to go.

01-Jan-22
That isn’t untwisting in a hurry. Maintenance required Brislions. Know any good arborists?

02-Dec-21
Finally spotted the cache in the correct tree and managed to grab hold of it at least six or seven times but the tether was in such a tangle up there that I could not extricated it from the tree.

16-Nov-21
Had most of TeamLambo with me this arvo and as we were nearby and just happen to have the fishing pole with us, I asked the kids if they would join me for a quick hunt. There were some muggles and their dogs in the park nearby but we were hidden enough not to be seen. A quick look skyward and we found the cache. This was probably one of the higher ones I have done as I normally don't have to reach full arm stretch to get them down. We signed the log and spent a couple of minutes returning the cache to its perch high above us. Thanks BrisLions, I believe we have finishes the series now. All very fun and enjoyable cache hides.

09-Nov-21
Mrs VC had gone to the trouble of pre-planning today's cache list, all I had to do was drive between caches and assist where necessary with the finding and retrieval. Surprised
I was NOT prewarned that there was a run of about 7 tree-fishing caches included! Surprised
This one was quickly spotted and wasn't TOOOOO hard to retrieve as I managed to do a reasonable imitation of the Toyota Ads, leaping into the air just enough to get that little bit of stretch needed to dislodge the blighter! Big Grin
Made our mark & replaced as found.
Had a bit of fun getting it back into place but success was ours! Smile

TFTC Brislions Smile

1 down, 6 to go! Surprised

03-Nov-21
This took a long time to spot… being here alone didn’t help… Geepers was very insistent on a couple of trees, and persistence paid off…

This is the first time I’ve used the pole since I broke it up near Kilkivan… worked a treat… even in the wind… tftc…

02-Oct-21
Have tried this fishing spot a whiles a go, without even a bite. With a few other anglers having success, thought it'd be worth another go and see if the others left anything in the pond.

Arriving early as the early bird is suppose to catch the fish, spent another period searching the heavens for inspiration or an illusive fish or trying to spot a koala or two. Failed on all accounts. So Gcoven as the owner of the pole had had enough and contacted the CO for a clue (or two) with immediate results. So with a likely spot or three to check, we were graced with the company of the CO not long after a clue came through, who grabbed each of us by our ears and planted us in front of a likely tree. The fish was spotted not long after that.

Always good to get the locals to help out with likely spots that will produce. Appreciated the quick turn around and a chat afterwards of old war stories. A FP for helping fill the creel.

02-Oct-21
Having searched skywards for ages with no luck on our last visit, we were again peering to the heavens for quite sometime when I relented and messaged the CO. Being the lovely chap that he is, he sent a hunt or two and just as we were possibly at the correct tree, he appeared like a genie to assist! It is hard to see!! Blends in so well. Tricky hide and a fave point for you BL for the hide and your help!

Out for a day of fishing and caching with KerriMG. I have found a trad at this location a few years ago and on arriving I mentioned to KerriMG how much trouble I had finding it. Well today was no different. Im blaming the overhead power lines as my phone couldn’t decided where it wanted us to be. I talked the horses I asked the birds sitting there watching us for any assistance but none was forthcoming. Decided on a DNF here

09-Sep-21
Out for the day with nikid1 for some tree fishing & things had been going well until this spot. The gps was having a hard time deciding where it wanted to send us so we looked & looked in all the spots it did send us & all the other trees as well with no joy. The horses even grew tired of watching us in hopes of a tasty treat. Nikid1 logged a dnf & we were slowly walking back towards the car straining our eyes looking again in the trees we passed when who should rock up but the postie in question (whose ears may have been burning a little during our search!). Well hello Brislions! We were very kindly directed to the correct tree (which was in the area my gps kept sending me back to) & even then I still had trouble spotting the little blighter. Thank goodness this was nikid1's turn to retrieve the cache & she soon had the cache in our reach. After a lovely chat we parted ways with Brislions to continue on our fishing adventure.
Thanks for the cache & coming to our rescue Brislions!

Out here with KerriMG. I thought we looked in all the gums. But obviously we are missing one.
Next time.
Even the birds watching on were no help.

Found on a day out with McLookers and beckNmonts. We were targetting certain caches today.

06-Apr-21
After finding four in the series we were getting an eye in for the caches and the quirks of the fishing pole but for the first time at this one there was a playful little gusty wind. It wasn't enough to usually notice but the fishing pole did... it took a lot of concentration to stop it wandering off to other trees. When #6 was signed and safely back on it's perch we were looking for another to find. TFTC Brislions and the DiMorgan team for our first play with a fishing pole.

After attending the Mega and knocking off the Dark Side, 65 Roses, Horses, Pac-Man, Geosaurus and I️Geo series I hunted witches and challenges today.

Needing 4 tree fishing caches for a challenge Karicka and I had a crack at these in the dark and drizzle.
One I actually spotted and retrieved for once.

Thanks Brislions for creating and placing this for us to enjoy.

#5028

Day 2 of our mega-quick Mega trip to Brisbane with TARDIS0061. We made a pre-breakfast start in attempt to beat the severe weather event that was scheduled today.

Our necks started to ache and eyes were watering from constantly looking up in the drizzle. But we were on a fishing expedition and there were still more to find. With all of the practice over the past 2 days we thought we should be getting quicker but it seems they are getting harder to spot

Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.

Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??

Thanks Brislions (F=6859 H=22) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

04-Apr-21
This one took two PAF's before we made the find. We also went and got some lunch as it was raining too hard, then came back and eventually made the find. Thanks for the cache.

04-Apr-21
We very nearly didn't get this one. We had had a fairly good look and tried a PAF but still no luck. It was raining very hard so we gave up and went and got some lunch. We got a hint from another PAF so made our way back after lunch and after quite some time, made the find. Thanks for the placing of this cache.

Day 2 of the GOM Qld invasion.
Today was our fishing day and this Postie series piqued our interest and was close by. Cache was in excellent condition.

Day two of our trip to the Mega after Gladys said yes. Pole fishing was a strong theme of the day and the areas north of the city had plenty to chose from. Despite the rain the Megatons as it appears in a number of the logs where signed as we pushed on. Some tricky hides and reaches but success at each one. TFTC

On day three of our adventure, we had a list of caches to target while we had some equipment available. This one took longer to spot than it should have. But once it was spotted, short work was made of the retrieval. Thanks for placing the cache Brislions, and making our day a great one!

15/11/20 Find #4367
Fangsoki and I had the morning free, and all of a sudden I realised I needed to get a traditional cache today. Well I had been saving this series for such emergencies, but as it is almost the end of the year I think I’m pretty safe to use them up now.
So we decided to head here to this one and grab it at least. I remember being here for another of this CO’s caches once before. The neighbour over the road was nice and friendly on that visit. Today however was both muggle and wind free, and it was a nice easy fish to catch.
Thanks for the cache Brislions.

15-Nov-20
1MinnieMoo and I were in need of a traditional cache - and I suggested a tree fishing affair - as I needed some for Orange Crew's new Challenge.

We parked up and made our way to GZ. 1MinnieMoo pointed out there used to be a cache near here. Yes - my smartphone confirmed that was correct Razz

We pulled up at GZ and started our hunt. We soon spotted the prize. Getting the cache was a bit simpler for us than previous tree fishing caches we had done.

We were soon signing a log and returning the cache as found. A fun little cache to do. TFTC Brislions Smile

14-Nov-20
Oh! We found this one on the ground below a gumtree. Well that was one challenge we didn’t get to have!
We signed the log and returned it above to where we had found it. We hope this is the right spot, but if not both of our GPS units brought us very close to this tree anyway. I guess it means it must not have been put back properly previously.
All was safe dry and fine.
Thanks Brislions.
Photo sent to CO of where we have replaced.

This morning I had a podcast recording session with IolantheK and I had asked her if she could show me what this strange tree fishing thing was that has popped up in the last year or so.

We parked and grabbed the fishing pole and headed over to GZ. We were too short! Luckily IolantheK had a small step in the back of her car and using the step we finally got the container. Name was added to the logbook and the task of returning was completed so off to the next one. Maybe next time we won't choose such a windy day!

I had planned on spending the morning tree fishing a few weeks back but couldn't get it to work iut. Fast forward to today, a spare morning ... let's go!!

Found this one after a bit of looking, and used a different technique I learned last week. Cache in hand, log signed, and cache replaced as found. Time to find the next one.

Thanks Brislions for placing the cache here.

When my son and I first used the fishing pole to collect a cache he made a few tradie modifications to it. He removed one section and taped on a hook but also tucked the removed section away for a rainy day. The removed section had jammed up another part and to reach this cache we needed the full length so some emergency surgery to the pole was required.

My wife and I both have online medical degrees from the chapter of holistic surgery and so felt easily over-qualified to fix the problem. Sure we might have both failed the final multiple choice exam many times but as internet-qualified practitioners we knew that health and well being isn’t an exact science. With a few choice chakras and incantations there is no imaginary problem we cant fix.

The small segment of pole was extracted and I was back to being fully stretched on tippy-toes to gather and replace the cache. There was another branch that kept running foul of us and no matter how much I tried to beat it down, flexible fibreglass is no match for a twig.

When we finally got the cache down we were able to extract the log with our broken bit of caching pole. Karma is a bitch except in our chosen medical field where it is a valid tool to cure any ail, just like naked hypnotherapy. Mrs Woodyrothwell and I both decided to head home and celebrate the find by seeing if there were any other medical degrees online we could qualify for. If not we would just get nude and hypnotize each other. tftc

25-Jul-20
Now that was a high one neede further assistance in a secondary tool to attain the height requirement to tag & release

25-Jul-20
Thank goodness l am with Muggle65 today. Couldn't spot this one and eventually he did. It is very well camouflaged. I managed to get it down with the pole as high above my head as l could reach and on my tippy toes. We had to use the step ladder as well to replace it. Must have looked pretty funny with me bracing M65s butt. Great entertainment here. Cache is in perfect order. TFTH

29-Apr-20
A quick morning trip for a second attempt at spotting this one. Thankfully the CO popped by (well, half popped) and helped me see what I needed to see ... that is well camouflaged. Hint for others, for me at least the posted coords are where you want to stand to see your target - and then only a step or two away. It is also at the upper limit of the borrowed tool I had. 8m tool plus 2m to my upstretched arms equals closer to 10m high I reckon. But that was enough to get to it, with a bit of careful wrangling I was soon adding my name to the log, and soon carefully putting it back.

And with that done - I have no, nil, zero caches within a 10km radius form home that I have not found now. Ten years playing this game and some 1100+ found in the circle - but as of right now, all clear. Woohoo.

Thanks Brislions for entertaining me at this location.
Cool *{Overall find #7690}* Cool

I was out today chasing the fishing series and a few traditional’s as I would go past. Having acquired the TOTT for my tree fishing task I set off. It was a good day and I got a lot completed in my short time.
My first cache for the day was No. 6 and I would have to start with the hardest first. At gz it was hard to spot the cache as the sun was in my eyes for the angle to see it correctly, then the postie turned up and gave me a helping hand. We then managed to get it at an angle to secure the tott to retrieve the cache. Log signed and then it was using said tool to replace the cache. My first tree fish, all good with the cache.
Thanks for placing this series here, an area that I used to bush bash in is now a suburb.

I had the day off today, so I decided I’d go fishing, not the water type, but the tree type. I brought a few different types of hooks with me to try out and see which one I liked best as I had a heavy metal hook at first which made my pole wobble violently when retrieving and replacing the caches.

This was the last one for the series, for now, but this one had me looking for ages. I walked around and around in circles constantly looking up, so I now have a sore neck. This one should’ve been the D5

Find #675 - TFTC

We are leaping today into an event and a series of caches and puzzles, etc with a group of friends.

I hope the CO didn't mind the noise we made getting this one down.

Log signed and replaced on February 29, 2020 at 2:24 PM. TFTC, Brislions.

Out with friends geocaching today - Leap year Day!! Plan was hatched to collect many caches types today, so with list in hand, we were up early and off and running.

This was the last one in the series and was the toughest one yet. Took 15 minutes to finally locate then another 10 to get it down. With arm at full stretch, RoddyC just managed to reach it. Down it came, logbook signed, and with the others guiding him (plus one person holding his back and another holding his arm for stability) we managed to get it back to its perch. What an effort!!! Thanks for the great series and showing us another way of retrieving caches. A fav point from us.

This was a fair way up. Need good eyes to find it.

20-Feb-20
Enjoying the day out with E_Smiley and picking up a few caches whilst in the local area.
This was the first of three 'Postie' caches we found and solely due to the very helpful CO loaning us a special ToT.
On approaching GZ we saw this cute koala asleep up a tree and luckily it wasn't the one we needed to be at. The retrival process was fun and patience is the key to not spending ages on it.

How lucky of Geobuddy finding a Koala while looking for the cache!!!

Like others before us this one took ages to spot. The sun was glaring, so Snickersallan's brilliant idea of extending the pole fully to determine which height would this be worked for us.

TFTC Brislions. Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment.

Cheers, E

Out and about with both members of Slow Puncture and Jelly the Wonderdog. We were on a fishing expedition, catch and release. SP had brought their new rod along and we all took turns at reeling in the slippery beasties, no bait required.

I certainly had an eye for these caches today. Spotted this one again in record time.

Thanks for the cache Brislions Big Grin

Monday. It was team NyssaFlutterby, Jelly the Wonder Dog and both Slow Punctures today out to collect some mighty fine caches. The new TOTT was getting a work out today and was surprisingly easy to use. It is good to have teamwork on these caches – helps to have someone spotting (or someone who can spot – I think Mr SP and my eyes must be getting old! [xx(]) and then people who can take turns at putting their neck at impossible angles. After Jelly had a play and drink at a nearby dog park, we were on to grabbing this cache. Thankfully the new TOTT is making collecting these caches a treat. After finally spotting this cache and signing the log, container was replaced and we were ready to move on and grab the last few caches in this series.

This was the 6th of 8 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***Brislions***, for showing us this place. Smile

When we got to GZ the wind was starting to blow which made getting this one *really* tricky. The tree was swaying, we were swaying... somehow the two came together at some stage and we hooked the cache. Phew!
Log signed and then the next challenge... putting it back.
Man alive! That was tricky but we did it!
Thanks for placing these caches Brislions. They’re a good challenge.
