Chook was in Melbourne this weekend to support the Geocaching Victoria fundraising efforts at Bunnings Mernda, so of course a spot of caching was on the cards as well. Thanks to the wonderful hospitality and transport provided by OzHockeyChick, it was a fabulous and fun time. Thankfully OHC was able to find this one fairly quickly, given Chook soon had a train to catch. Have enjoyed Manning Clark's history books in the past. TFTC napier92.
Teamed up with chook(nchunk) this weekend for some caching fun. Once our shift at the Mernda Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser was done and dusted, we headed back towards the city, stopping for a few caches along the way.Thankfully reading a couple of recent logs made it a little easier to find this elusive cache. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, napier92 ~~
I had a second opportunity to pick up my niece from school this week. It was a much nicer day with no clouds in the sky today. I was running short on time though so should have picked a different cache. I searched and I searched. About to give up, I looked in a different location and what do you know, there it was. It turns out I was so fixated on particular objects I excluded others, to my detriment! The area wasnt too rubbish affected, although I did eventually find the area with more rubbish and broken glass during my search. The cache is not in that spot.A big thanks goes to napier92 for taking the time to add Manning Clark to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you ready for Victorias next big event?Join us for Victorias first ever *Block Party* to celebrate 25 years of geocaching.**When:** March 22 - 23, 2025**Where:** Hume Global Learning Centre, SunburyLog your will attend at [**GCAP417: The Sunbury Event** ](https://coord.info/GCAP417) Visit our [**Block Party website** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/the-sunbury-event) for more details on the exciting lineup of events and activities as they are released!
No luck unfortunately, lots of rubbish and broken glass so not great place to look for cache either. TFTC nonetheless
I found this cache on my Mega Walk #26 - a 31,000 step 3 Stage walk through Coburg, then Middle Gorge and finally South Morang to Bundoora. After getting off the train at the South Morang Station, I headed for this nearby cache in this secluded park first of all. Thanks from D B-A
Almost missed the way in but soon had the cache found and the log signed. Thanks for the history lesson.
Easy find. It was out in the open, so I left it in a more protected spot at the coordinates: David
Pro tip; make sure your phone is working before you plan to go geocaching.
Let me set the sign for you. It’s just me and the youngest. He is 8. So he clearly knows EVERYTHING. we get to roughly where the cache is located. My phone stops working and turning it on and off again doesn’t work. Mr 8 says I need to get out of the car for the phone to work. I think he is bonkers. But we do just in case we can find the cache without knowing anything. We get close and lo and behold. My phone, she works. Getting out of the car worked! We find the cache, and mr 8 says “this is the best day ever”

The ground is so wet, there are small lakes everywhere. But nonetheless a simple find after checking the usual hangout locations.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today, for without those who like to hide geocaches, there would be nothing around for those who like to find geocaches.

Another cache found on our mega tour. Thanks for the fun.
November 2022. Time for the second Victorian Mega of the year. This time in Whittlesea. What is it with W's? Time for another epic road trip. Who will join our merry crew? We traveled from South Australia and camped in the pig pen. It rained. It blew. It was sunny. It was not sunny. All four seasons. Beautiful location and some awesome caches.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.
Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

A nice find in the suburbs today, cache found and is all good
This weekend was mega weekend and we headed over with Freddo, team Waldron, e.gregory1 and Davidwazza as part of our team called: ‘Aussies on Tour’, the log books were either signed with the name, AOT or our individual caching names.
A great weekend away and a very well organised mega despite the horrible weather thrown at us we still managed to find quite a few caches
Thanks for the cache

Found while in the area to attend the Mega Event at Whittlesea.
Today I joined up with Team Waldron, Freddo, gridge98 and Davidwazza as we made our way to Whittlesea and targeted caches of interest. All caches were signed 'A.O.T.'

This weekend, it was a flight and trip down to Melbourne to attend The Whittlesea 2022 Mega Event. I arrived on Thursday evening and had accommodation in Mill Park, which was a good strategic location between Whittlesea and Melbourne. I joined a few South Aussie friends as part of the “Aussies on Tour” (AOT) team, which consisted of e.gregory1, Freddo, gridge98, and Team Waldron.
Several geocaching series were completed, which included the Commonwealth Star Series (CSS), Whittlesea Puzzles for Beginners, Whittlesea Event Gadget Trail (WEGT), Whittlesea Challenge Wander (WCW), and the Whittlesea Compass (TWC). In addition, we targeted uncommon cache types, rare/unique D-T combinations, older caches and those with high Favourite Points. It was great to have visited Victoria's two 2000 hidden geocaches too (Victoria's 1st (Melbourne's 1st) and Devil Bend).
We were treated with great weather for the first couple of days, but then it deteriorated from Saturday afternoon with rain storms and high winds overnight and on Sunday.
We took a stop at this location, and we thought it would be a reasonably quick find, however it took way longer than it should have. It was a wander over to GZ, and then I spent a fair amount of time searching the obvious log, when it wasn't the logical spot (although it was a reasonable size that I should have spotted). The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and the logbook was stamped with our "Aussies on Tour" stamp / noted as AOT to save logbook space. Thanks napier92 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.
Note that there was some spiky tree nearby that I can never understand how such trees get this evolutionary feature!

With Geowife and 2peasinapod2012, this is where you look in all the unlikely places first,
but eventually found it the last place I looked, isn't that alway the case?

Beautiful sunny winters day. I was out in Epping and found this cache today as I was passing by. Great location and very native parklands. Stamped the log and returned home to enjoy the rest of the day. TFTC.
A nice quick find after taking the boys to Tunza Fun. Thanks Napier92 for placing this cache for us to find today.
Heading from Greensborough to Wollert and Whittlesea to do some geocaching toady. This one popped up on my map so I took a side detour and added my name to the log.
Thank you napier92 for showing me this little park.
Thank you napier92 for showing me this little park.
Cache was out of its hiding spot and needed replacement. New container of a similar size placed. All good.
I love how by geo caching I find these little pockets I'd never discovered before. Thanks for bringing me here. Nice to still be able to discover within my 5km.
Had no problems here not not sure that the cache is where it ishould have been. Nice little park thanks napier92
Found the cache on the floor in plain sight. Not sure if that is where it was meant to be. Still in same location but slightly camouflaged. Nothing taken or placed. TFTC
A quick, in and out find. I always love discovering these little slices of bush in the suburbs
Checked and relocated into original hide position. Cachers please return to hide once logged.
This cache took a while. The area is very bushy thanks to all the rain, and the cache was not where I thought it would be. I persevered and eventually found it.
Kato Potato and I had booked accommodation in Mill Park for the Whittlesea MEGA event.....non-refundable accommodation which thankfully opened up to us regional Victorians this very week. Despite not being able to attend the now-cancelled MEGA, we got back in the saddle of geocaching and realised how much we'd missed it in 2020.
We had dinner at the nearby shopping centre with me rediscovering an alcohol I'd first tried in Soho in 2009 on honeymoon - cachaca from Brazil. Buzzing happily from that and full of Thai food, we took the long way home on foot and walked to this cache. Kato gabbed on the phone, I searched but in clear supermum fashion, Kato multitasked and found the cache whilst busy talking to her little spuds. TFTC napier92

After a particularly long caching hiatus thanks to COVID-19, Mummy Short Legs and I finally got to hit the road again for our annual caching weekend away. This weekend was originally planned to be celebrated with the nearby Mega event, cancelled for obvious reasons. We still had an accommodation booking though and thought waste not, want not! A great weekend away and an opportunity to just enjoy the area.
Walking to dinner and decided to call the family to say goodnight. So while we hunted I was yapping away. Impressed myself with finding this one first while chatting away and managing to replace it too. MSL did the honours of signing the log and making sure we were not muggled in the meantime. teamwork! Another decent sized cache, in a little park I'd otherwise never visit.
Thanks, napier92. Now, at last, I'm not labouring into the wind, as I start towards home on the trail by the railway line.

Out for a day's caching in the Mill Park - South Morang area. I found over 20, mainly on my bike - it is a great area for cycling. Thanks napier92
Out to get a few caches on a nice sunny winters day. Cache was hidden but an easy find
All the streets are Aussie icons round here - Weary, AB, The Voice, Harry, Athol and Judith, and Australia's favourite communist, Prof Manning Clark. OK I'm not sure about Jackson Pollock, but I'm guessing that when we bought Blue Poles we made him an Aussie. But back to the man who brought me here, and who the council thought merited both a drive and a park - a grand Red gum was a fitting place for a quickly found hide. Thanks napier92
Stopped by after doing a green waste drop off in plenty, parking in the little run off street at gz, noticed a house that had a council notice stuck to the door and windows. Looks like a regular suburban house but then so was Walter White’s!
Thanks napier92 for Manning Clark

Found on the ground but have hopefully put it back in the right place! Took some time out from the U14s state softball tournament to find this.
Hello again napier92, a secluded little park and a great cache in an old red gum it must have been wonderful in it's day. Thanks for bringing me here.

Suscoe headed to Melbourne today in the great company of Bushfire.
We had decided to target some caches along the Plenty Road area and we enjoyed travelling around the Mernda, South Morang suburbs as well as part of Bundorra.
It was a delightful day with plenty of sunshine and a mild breeze for most of the day. It did get quite warm during the afternoon as the cool breeze seemed to disappear.
We had a terrific day and thanks goes to all the cache owners for showing us this area.
Thanks to napier92 for this hide, this was our last stop for today before heading back to Geelong.
Great to see a cache dedicated to Manning Clark, a highly regarded historian in our opinion.
And we appreciate the wonderful Red Gums of this area, we have been amazed at the way these developments have retained these beautiful old trees.

After claiming a very high D/T challenge cache in the You Yangs yesterday, only a two km walk but the walk there and back was the easy part, but the climb ,thorns and huge rocks proved a huge challenge for the ageing Bushfire who had done the same walk two years ago on his own but two years means a lot when your over eighty, but I made it, so today these caches were very easy but I am still feeling the effects of yesterday.
My very special caching partners, the suscoe’s invited me to tag along for a visit to this area which I have never visited before even though I have been caching since 2005.
I could not get over the number of great old Red Gums that seem to have been reserved with their own little bit of space and the number of old fallen huge old logs that have been given their own space as well.
On my day in this area I logged as I went with FLL, which simply means that I will follow up with a decent log ASAP. I had a please explain from sbrundan as to what it meant so now you know what it means and here is my full log as I said I would place tonight or as soon as possible.
Special thanks to all the cache owners whose caches that we have found today as without you guys placing caches we would be back in the early 2000’s when if you found two or three caches you had a good day and travelled many km to get them, oh so different today.
Thanks napier92 again for placing this cache for us too find. Gee between you and sbrundan you account for a large number of our finds today, thanks for showing us your area and all the old Red Gums that are a feature of you area.

After an early morning FTF hunt nearby I decided to take the slightly longer route home to pick up this one. Left some handmade swag, a pencil pack and some little shops. TFTC!

I actually walked past this park for the first time a few hours before this was published. So I knew exactly where this was when I headed out on my morning walk today. A nice easy find. TFTC napier92.
Out with xambo4u, we set out early to cache in Mill Park. A lovely day with some interesting caches along the way. A quick find. What a magnificent tree this must have been.
Thanks napier92
Thanks napier92
Out and about with echidna44 for an other enjoyable day of caching. Nice easy parking nearyby with a short walk and easy find. Another piece of nature fallen. Thanks napier92 for all your variety of caches and spaces that you have led us today.
Quick park walked a little too far down but back tracked walked across and seen before I looked Thankyou quick sign before the neighbours can peep at us
Equal second to find with Bunadoorian. Nice size container and cleverly hidden. I love these old trees and so glad the local council have kept so many with all the new estates going in. TFTC napier92.
I was distracted by the old stump but Grub62 was on the ball. An easy find as per the D/T rating which was good on this hot smokey day to keep my streak going. Thanks napier92 for all your efforts providing caches in the local area.
Big treasure.
Made to fit.
It is always nice to see a new way to hide treasure.
Was this owner a pirate in their previous life?
Hidden in the obvious place until you can not find it.
The bananas are impressed.
And
Hope it lasts.
Well done, me hardies.
