Logs
After finding San Fran Special on the spit, we then headed along the spit. In hindsight, we should have gone along the edge instead of through the centre (and the dried gorse). TFTC
Up this way with ABCDF4 for a few daysSo to the CO for making our time away enjoyable
After having a walk and some lunch at Long Beach we headed to Stillwater for some kayaking and of course a few caches. We paddled towards GZ, found a good place to put up the kayaks and headed off to grab the cache. A really lovely area to have a cache. It didn't take long before Glen had the cache in hand and the log was signed. Thanks for the cache, a nice addition to our adventure for the day. #1743
This is obviously someone's special place. Very peaceful. A quick find and TFTC
with the detour in place because of a closed section of the track (landslip caused by recent flooding), we came to this cache ...just have a look at all the logs there and you will find it easily... we came from direction Stillwater, a bit easier to find coming from that direction than if you search with the ocean on your back...
Once the rain had stopped we continued on with our walk. Spotted the hint item. One of checked one end without any luck whilst the other checked the other end to make the find.
Headed up this way again as we spotted a trail of challenge caches we had qualified for, so thought to make a day of it...Joined by team HeMaLuDy, well actually HeMa only .....
Parked up and headed along the trail to this cache ....
Luckily the weather was on point for the walk, but still managed to get soaking socks as the grass was saturated from the days before rain and a heavy due this morning...
The cache was found in good condition....
TFTC.

The Stik-A-Crane's planned to do this costal walk and a nearby series on a road. Mr and Mrs HeMaLuDy decided to join them for the adventures. Beautiful weather allowed us to really enjoy this very pleasant coast line. Followed the hint to one of two possible locations. Of course we chose the wrong one first. However it was still a nice quick find of the container with four pairs of eyes looking. TFTC
Not as quick a find this time but got there in the end! Was stumped originally but then moved on to a different spot and found it. Thanks!
Another walk in Stillwater so stopped by a couple of caches. Initially we were looking wrong place but after we widened the search we came up trumps. Thanks
No problems finding this one after a nice walk to GZ and we enjoyed watching the boats go by.
Someone had discarded a used nappy near the cache which we wished we could have removed but we weren't equipped for a CITO clean up of this magnitude so sadly had to leave it there.
Very sad to see people disrespecting nature like this. We only hope the next finder doesn't mistake it for the cache as if they do they will be literally up a certain type of creek.

This cache is placed across from our house, and we kayaked across.
We love this area, and are pleased that some caches have been replaced. Thanks G-2.

Took me a few minutes enjoying the sunshine and solitude after getting soaked twice since leaving the car. This find was bathed in sunshine and beautiful. Once I worked out which end to search the cache was soon located, signed and replaced. FP here because it's such a great spot, thanks G_2.
A double pronged geocaching attack on the area North of me; first up was a trip to the wonderful Stillwater and get all those here and there caches that have been previous DNFs or just not attempted as too far off the main trail when my companions haven't liked the diversion option. This was followed by a quick dash to Orewa for one before finishing off out on the Whangaparoa peninsula grabbing random caches here and there. Two dozen was the haul and the day was a combination of blazing sunshine and warmth, and Sou-Wester gusts and torrential rain dropping the temp down to low-double digits, strange weather day. Thanks to all (both?) COs for their placements.

Being careful of the ground nesting birds who were very noisy we found cache & signed in. Fisherman nearby trying their luck to catch dinner. TFTC
Nice find! We weren't sure which end of the log but got there in the end : ) a few noisy birds nearby
Muggles were enjoying a picnic nearby but were thankfully out of sight of us finding the cache.
Out with Merlot58 to find some of the newly released caches in Stillwater. There was a muggle family having a picnic and fishing very close to gz, but we were far enough away to be able to nab this cache.
I took what I thought was nice path to get to GZ, but it turned out to be longer. After finding the cache, I came back on a more direct route without disturbing any birds. TFTC.
This one had me stumped going slightly off-target by about 4 m with my GPS. Was just about to give up but read others activity and looked in a different area. TFTC.
Seems to be a popular spot for folks to go fishing, but managed to stay out of view, TFTC
Making my way along the trail as I enjoy a lovely Spring day and a walk from Weiti to Stillwater, collecting some hides along the way. I took the beach to make my way out to the end of the spit. There was a fisherman's gear rather near GZ, but he was around the corner so I was able to search undetected. Started at the wrong end but soon got the right one. Now to follow the beach around the other side of the spit and head for the "San Fran" hide. Cheers for the cache placement!
Made our way out along the spit from the San Fran Special until we approached the edge, then made our way around the coast to this cache. With four of us looking we quickly checked the possible hiding spots and had the cache in hand. Thanks.
A few fisherman out here today so made our way past them and Mr kc made a quick find here. TFTC
We came across the low tide and noticed a fully lit fire on the beach, unattended. So we poured water and carried one of the big fence posts into a puddle. Then up to the end of the spit to grab this and onto the next, thanks
Phone running out of power, we headed out along the spit to find this one on our way back to car. Oh, THAT log - thanks!
Joined up with AliGle today for another walk out on the Okura Bush Walkway, starting at the Ara Weiti Road end, taking the opportunity to look for some of the recently placed caches out here. There was a family of muggles on the beach nearby, but due to the nature of the hide, we were able to make a stealthy find. TFTC!
Last one for today before we head back to the carpark. Taking a breather on a log and admiring the view. A nice easy find to finish off.
People fishing on the wharf opposite. A yacht called kick
Motoring down the channel

Scotty participating in a 100 km's in May walking/running challenge. She achieved that goal a few weeks back and has now extended it to 200 km's. Another opportunity to head on out and get some k's done and collect a few caches along the way.
Once at gz set about looking for the hide. Found some rubbish (including a homemade fishing rod holder which may get turned into a geocache) but no cache. Eventually resorted to checking out the hint which then led us to the hides location and another (FTF) in Stillwater - TFTC
