A beautiful autumn day to do a few geocaches and enjoy the peacefulness of the lagoon and river area. Unfortunately this one was up the wrong way and in full view with nothing in it so we tore a page out of our book and left it as a replacement log. TFTC.
Had some spare time en route from Picton to Kaikoura due to the ferry berthing early so decided to score a few unfound caches on the way. A quick find here, I spotted the cache as I approached. Signed log, TFTC.
Marchwood and I were in the area for the CITO, so it would have been rude not to come over here to find this one. TFTC.
Out for a day of Blenheim caching in an attempt to grab the latest souvenir.
In the area so I was unable to avoid grabbing this Marlborough’s DJ hide.
The river gets high here sometimes.

A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I cruised around some of the highlights of Blenheim today. The weather was fine and windy, and it felt like rain at one stage, but it came to nothing.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

We are doing z bit of an e plore in the area. Sobering to see how high the floods regularly come up. Thank goodness for stop bank. Thanks for bringing us here capernz
Nice secret spot that one could use to hide away..so tranquil many thanks capperz..nice tidy cache
A fairly quick find, although it was a bit difficult to extract the cache because of flood debris, and there was a rather unsavoury smell, presumably from a dead animal. We found the cache upright, but replaced it upside down as requested.. TFTC
Must have a listen to this song sometime...
Easy find made by Nette on something magnetic....
Enjoying Wetlands Walk today.

Be careful of the wasps in summer. We were lucky to see the rowers in action. 2nd find of the day
A remnant from Capperz, pleased to see your presence is still present, hope the Big Smoke is going well for you, tftc.
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to visit!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on wet or plastic logs)
*Another good cache located - now onto the next one!*
Last day of our 3 week geocaching trip in the South Island.

Here to go kayaking but the wind had kicked up too much. Perfect for a lap of the lagoon on foot though and a chance to check on trees that we planted in days gone by. TFTC
We were in Blenheim for what we had hoped to be a fishing weekend. With rods, whitebait nets and high hopes we were full of anticipation. We had not planned for the wind which is less than helpful when trying to see tiny fish in murky water. Needless to say we did not have a terribly successful fishing trip. But any trip away is better than a day at work. We found a few caches before heading home much earlier than was originally planned.
This cache was an easy find in the second place we looked. There was a (possibly wild) cat nearby, that had not heard us approaching, the poor thing didn't know what to do when it did see us, so it crouched down in a muddy puddle (obviously thinking we could not see it). When I got within about three meters from it, it took off into the bushes not be be seen again while we were there.
Thanks for the cache and thank you for the smiley.

A quiet drive and walk out here on a sunny friday morning.

I had to pop down to the lagoon to do some maintenance on Nanzies cache, this was close by so why not. Thanks capperz

Out on a ride on geocycle-r and got to within 6 metres of this before walking the last few. This should be the last of the Ancient Wonders, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon ticked off. Strange to see the last finders name on the inside of the container...
Start of the Whitebait season and there's a few people scattered along the river bank. Doesn't appear to be much action. All good here, TFTC
Oh, THAT song, that will be why you chose to place the cache here. Some songs say so much eh - - - and other songs say nothing at all. All the best with your fresh fields and different rivers - - - oh, and thanks for the cache .
You are going to be greatly missed down here capperz and so this find was "mixed with nostalgia" and I'm sure thats true for you too. TFTC # 15,674
The first part of the day was planned by the driver for the SIS - the later part had a few ? on the programme to give flexiblilty with timing. This cache moved from ? to tick and was quickly ticked off. We wondered if it was going to be jammed in somewhere - but it wasn't. Signed as SIS as most of the days caches were.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Been in the South Island visiting the grown up kids who are on Uni holidays. Travelling home but mechanical problems means an extended stay in Blenheim. Well more time to cache. Enjoyed a picnic at Maori island followed by the circular walk. Lots of bird life which was great to see. Managed to find all but one of the caches. This cache was all fine. Thanks
A busy day for me.
First a WOF for my boat trailer, then said boat was delivered to friend Admiral Andy in Picton for the wiring of some nav lights and the fitting of an auxiliary bracket.
Then a day in Picton checking out the marina, helping re-mast his yacht and a final walkthrough of my adventure lab.
I placed a bonus cache, shared some lunch and grabbed a couple of caches on the way home before the arrival of RG1972 and a dinner date at a restaurant and a visit to the touring Tiny Pub.
Easy find here, TFTC Capperz.

It's quite some time since we've been 'over the hill' but with enough new caches published since our last trip to make it worthwhile we set off for a day in the sun.
After hoovering up the caches around Renwick way we ventured down here to look for this. It took a wee while for the GPS to settle then it was a fairly quick find. Cache returned as instructed after signing.
Thank you capperz.

There was a deluge of notifications over and above our to do list for when the lockdown downgraded to level 2. Today was forecast as a perfect day and it was. Blue skies, hardly a breeze and bright sunshine. So the thermos was filled, sammies made and away we went. Our second "Song by" cache today although by different COs. A change of scenery also from the never ending rows of vines. Even the GPSs might have been pleasantly surprised because it took a bit for them to settle down. Cache returned as found. Thank you capperz
This area has been cleared up recently. Approached via the tree and trough the bushes to finally get to GZ for a quick find. So with my trusty gloves and handy dandy wipes we get this one tagged and tucked back in. Cheers. Last one for today. Time to go home.
Its Saturday and time to head for the hills with Lake Challis in on our radar for today. Raphael, my lock-down house guest, is along for the ride as we trail the Seagnoid Mobile up Staircase Road. Bummer! 14km from Lake Challis we get stopped by a tree across the road. OK plan B? Rimu Falls. Yes! so we u-turn and head up Bartlets Creek, only to come across a locked gate. OK a walk in these them hills is off the menu and when we later stop at North Bank we find the whole of Richmond Range is CLOSED. DUH, should have stopped there first. So we cache back along North Bank Road to SH6. Then target a few Capperz caches in the vicinity, before they disappear. Then a walk around Grovetown Lagoon to finish the day off. We have both enjoyed our day out.

Today is the day I *REALLY* want to go geocaching - the only day left in calendar for size Micro finds. Finding this would give me the 366 badgelet on my Micro badge. So I checked the map to find a micro close to home, and just to be sure, a second one as well.
Turned up here to find a few cars lurking, there must be a few people doing the lake circuit, but of course, none at cache GZ. A quick find of an upside down (ie, right way up) cache. Despite the rain we have had over the last few days the cache was dry inside. Nice. Signed and returned right way up (ie, upside down) to ensure no water wicks in. And as I logged this, I sent a little note to the last finder to let them know what is different about eclipse containers.
Another badgelet bites the dust! Woohoo!!

This cache has been handled during Covid19 lockdown do I am disabling for a to be decided amount of time.
Visiting from Dunedin. Doing a walk around the lagoon collecting as many caches as possible. This one was close by, and new!
Beautiful, sunny, still day in Blenheim - perfect for caching. Lovely spot by the river.

{FTF} with NZDi at 8.24am. I'm on holiday at the moment, supposedly down the Marlborough Sounds, but the premature birth of my first grandson, and fourth grandchild meant an early return... a sort of bittersweet happenstance. Being on leave means I am primed and ready for any new listings that might come out but the only new local ones were atthe end of last month and I already had my monthly FTF, and I was still down the Sounds when they were listed. The puzzle provided a short distraction in the solve, but I've already got my feet wet on a FTF chase down that track, so no real attrraction there.
Upon awakening this morning, there was a few notifications for new listings, a couple over the hill and this one. NZDi had finished her morning rituals so I suggested a FTF chase, reasonably confident of success, although not guaranteed as there are other cachers closer. On the way I got to scope out the progress on the new bridge and it wasn't long before we arrived near GZ. The search did not take long at all and the cache was soon found. There was a code in the front of the logbook, but as it looked like pages had been torn out, I took it that this was a recycled cache from the CO ex-P.U.B. series. This was later confirmed by the CO.
This is my 57th consecutive month getting a FTF and my 258th FTF so for keeping the streak going and contributing to my next P-GC FTF badge upgrade another FP is awarded.
I even 'You Tubed' the song and can confirm it is not one I was familiar with, proof yet again of the C{O's electic music tastes.
