Completed the adlab over the course of a few months. Found and signed today. Nice bike path!
Did the lab over a long period of time. Finally finished today and went to do the lab. Dropped a tb from the USA.
Up in Townsville for a week working at one of the local high schools. Being based in the city gives me plenty of time to take wanders through the city and surrounds picking up caches and labs as I go. The weather was has been beautiful and I made the absolute most of it. Thanks to all the COs and I look forward to my next visit.
A caching trip from Canberra, ACT to Cape York, Qld and then around the gulf to East Arnhem Land, NT. TFTC. Love the picture walk to the cache. Very clever.
Great ADLab and locationsFound it SL. Enjoying a caching holiday in Townsville with mackay_geocaching. Thanks to the COs for the puzzles that they have created and brain strain to solve them. Puzzles mostly been solved prior to this visit. Happy New Year fellow cachers.
We have been able to explore the area and take in all the sights and sounds of the city. Despite the humidity, the weather has been quite pleasant and we have enjoyed our stay. We still have a few days left before we head back on way to Mackay and we are looking forward to seeing what else Townsville. Enjoyed with labs and great to see the statue of famous. Brilliant hide fav for me Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache burgo78.
Caching in the area we pick up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.
Enjoyed the walk along the trail, big thing happening at the stadium tomorrow!! Enjoyed exploring the area, cache and contents were in good condition.
Many thanks for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience today.

Having completed the AdLab, I figured that I'd have a shot at the final in the encroaching gloom. Once at GZ, it was a nice, sweet find at 18:15.
Very entertaining and very clever and thoroughly worth a fave point.
TNLNSL, although a couple of our geocoins had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks burgo78.

A nice sequential wander and admire the things to see. Almost back and remembered I’d missed the bonus so back there. Spotted by a passer by who asked if I was setting an orienteering course? Close enough I said which satisfied him. Straight to GZ once o checked the image, gotcha!
After work today I managed to snag a vehicle for a few hours so spent the latter part of the day doing a couple of caches near town. An ad lab series and bonus, an 18 stage Wherigo, and one Trad. Nice evening to be about, though regret being in my uniform!

After Mr Searchwise took off with I know where it is. Mr searchwise had to do a long walk for a short cut TFTC
We had fun on our bike ride around Townsville from the marina grabbiing some handy caches along the way. This AL was nicely convenient along our route to the maritime museum then to visit J's sister in Railway Estate. Interesting history of some of the big icons.
Although we have a week in Townsville while visiting on our sailing trip north from Moreton Bay (Redcliffe), it has been a rush of touring & gatherings with family & trying to squeeze in jobs on the boat. Today we had some time in between to do some quick caching so these adventure labs were great.
Nothing seemed to be on at the stadium in the middle of the afternoon on a Wednesday, so we were in luck & rode up one end of where we needed to be & hopped down. Thanks to the detailed instructions, after a couple of false tries, we soon had the correct hide uncovered & retrieved the cache. This must be our first find for this type of container! Very unusual - I do remember these from grandparents houses in '70s-'80s. I hope it lasts here.

Had to wait for one muggle to very, very slowly amble along the path by me. If he had been going any slower he would have gone backwards.
Used the very nice descriptive hint for a quick find. Awesome choice of container. I travelled through Townsville in 1989. One of my only pictures is of this building.

Cleaning up some remaining caches after being inTownsville for the mega. Did your Adventure Lab Bonus - Townsville Icons today. 20 April 2022 12:06 pm Tyfc burgo78 total caches now 4773 .
We are still in Townsville although I think we are meant to be back home by now. We will be moving on soon though so a couple of the vehicles needed some attention before we do so. We took the opportunity to find a few more caches before we leave.
We attempted to park a little closer than what we ended up doing but it was a nice stroll to GZ. Thanks for the ad lab and this bonus cache.

A couple of our vehicles needed to have a check up before we continued on our journey so we couldn't go far.
This is one of the few we managed to find today. After travelling a bit more than we thought we would have to, we made our way on foot to this bonus. Thanks for the cache.

Catching up with late logs.
Although the weather wasn't too good today we weren't going to sit around doing nothing so we joined forces with Geoturtle37 & Papi4506 to do a bit of sight seeing and pick up as many caches as we could between showers.
We worked our way through the adventure lab over a couple of days as we were travelling around picking up caches after which we were rewarded with a set of co-ords for this one.
We looked at it on the map and thought, you beauty, we will be able to park close.
It didn't quite work out like this but it was an enjoyable walk to gz where the cache was found nice and quickly and again we signed as "The Vics" to save room in the log.
Thanks again burgo78 for the cache.

On our last day together, Earthbound Chief, ahomburg and myself headed off to find an assortment of geocaches. This was a cute find after some interesting labs. Thanks for the cache burgo78.
Really enjoyed the walk however we were getting very tired and hot after completing the saints series! Nice to get to GZ and what an interesting container.

Having completed the labs we had the finals for this and made our way to GZ with some of the Logan Cachers.
Even with a hint from the security guard it took more searching than it should have and finally peggapig got the hide!

Another day in Townsville means another day of caching and tourism for Tankengine, Youban and I.

Hmm, I completely overlooked the bleeding obvious from the AdLabs and headed deep into GZ, thinking I had an idea where the cache might be. I was wrong, but spent a chunk of time scratching around and really just getting hot and sweaty...
Reinforcements arrived not only with fresh sets of eyes, but will the very important information from the labs and of course the cache was swiftly in Peppa's hands. I'll omit the expletive I mutterred at that time.
Names were added to the log and we high tailed it outta there. The security guard new there was a cache in the area, but clearly not enough info to guide me to it.
Cheers burgo78.

MEGA is behind Team Tour de Ville now and looking forward to the next one but today was our last day in Townsville so tidying up some wanted ones. We had completed the AL so couldn't leave the Bonus. We ran into GhostGums and Gunnie69 here and we all headed off. They were ahead of us and when we got there GhostGums had thrown a shoe and limping along while Gunnie69 hadn't read the description well until Patrol14 bought it to his attention while Peppa pounced on the cache which fitted the theme perfectly. Log signed before replacing as found. TFTC
The MEGA is done and dusted but Tour De Ville have one more day in Townsville before starting our journey home. Caching in the city then onto Mt Stuart to look at the view.
A few more caches in the area and this bonus was finally revealed after starting the Ad Lab a few days ago. Not keen on sequential Ad Labs but today we coped and finished it; now onto the Bonus. At GZ we found Ghostgums with a blowout and Gunnie69 nowhere to be seen. Peppa went searching for him and found Gunnie lurking under ground.
I had read the directions on locating this cache and suggested they look out here instead. After a few false starts, they located the aptly themed cache container. What an interesting AD Lab and final.
A fav point from me.

Our last day in Townsville after an awesome Mega event. Have spent the last few days caching in the glorious company of team Tour de Ville and have had a ball. Nice to finish off our time with a few more caches. Tftc burgo78
After our wild ride back on the ferry from palm island a little caching while in the area. Was able to collect as we walked past thanks to the hints.
Up to Townsville with GreyHams, timed well with a Mega and Maze and a lot of quality caching in the area to keep anyone busy for longer than the time we had! Counties were our primary focus, up to Cardwell and south of Mackay... a side trip out towards charters, we covered some distance in the 5 days away but saw so much.
Day 1 saw us arrive late in the day after a stop off in cairns, out towards Charters was a lovely drive with its drier scenery before back into the mega to catch up with friends and a Trivia night.
Day 2 was our Mega and Maze day. Lots of great quality and fun ALs on site, friendly people and a visit from the Mega's Easter Bunny for my chocolate egg! Even managed a refreshing squirt from a hose on one AL much to the amusement of those watching!!! Loved the escape room experience and then off north towards Cardwell for a little caching through more iconic north Queensland scenery.
Day 3 saw us walking the length of the strand, lovely historic area, lots of caching and great scenery to enjoy. A good solid morning in the area before boarding the ferry to Palm island, after the warm walk of the morning it was great to sit in the cold aircon with lunch, a cold drink and relax out on the water.
The visit to Palm Island was a beautiful location and very pleased to have had the opportunity to experience it. A calm relaxed trip across was a far contrast to the busy and rough trip back. Into the waves led to a wild and stomach churning bounce of the ferry as it made its journey back to Townsville, yet up top in the open wind and spray it was a wild and fun time!
Day 4 saw us driving south of Mackay for a letterbox trail. More iconic Queensland scenery as we drove, love all the cane fields, lush green and huge mountain ranges. The letter box trail was worth the drive, a lovely area and well put together and we even passed other Canberra teams along the road! Mackay offered lovely beach scenery, a step back into my childhood and a little adventure... plan 'F' payed off as it often does. The little town of Calen came to our rescue were the people were friendly and and the facilities and hotel worthy of stopping.
Day 5 and our last, the journey back towards Townsville with a few stops as we cached along, the heat kicked up a notch but the cars aircon matched it well! Up to Castle Hill and then our time was done and back to the airport and the trip home... Many thanks to the CO's for your caches that led us on another very enjoyable trip.

After checking out the icons as we completed the Adventure Lab, it was a bonus to sign the log here, along with other cachers we met on the trail. Stamped out a small fire starting in the mulch as we returned to our geo-vehicle. We were surprised to find a container which does not match the geocaching guidelines.
**FEEDBACK TO CO:** Not sure that the nature of this container would stand the suitability test.
Thanks burgo78 for placing this cache on the geo-gameboard.

Up in Townsville with the family for the Mega.
We started this one a couple of days ago so had to finish it tonight. Luckily the place was deserted and the excellent clues had the cache in hand very soon.
Thanks burgo78 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

It’s our last full day in Townsville, and our plans for the day have changed… after enjoying a quiet morning at the apartment, we set out to cache again around the city, then a drive to the top of Mt Stuart, followed by a couple of select caches before finagling returning for a take out fiesta with Davinells to say farewell… or is that Wa-dda Mooo-li?
We weren’t really planning on doing this Adventure, it was sequential (we all just love a sequential Adventure- NOT) and we never seem to be in the right place at the right time to get into it…
Today was different, and all the pieces, or should that be waypoints, fell into place…
When we arrived we found Ghostgums in a state of disrepair and Gunnie69 somewhere he really shouldn’t have been for his own health… Patrol14 was the real hero here, she read the clues…
Apparently real men don’t read stuff…
Log signed Tour de Ville - TIPP…
We then gave G & G a lift back to their hire which was parked somewhere near Bowen…
I understand the sequential bit… it made for a nice story… fave point for the iconic container…

During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.
Following our visit north of Rowes Bay which included Pallarenda, Castle Hill followed by the Mega's Farewell event, we took a drive around South Townsville, making a stop at North Queensland Stadium (also known as Queensland Country Bank Stadium) to visit the virtual cache and complete a few more Locations from the Adventure Labs.
This Adventure Lab was quite an enjoyable walk along Ross Creek, and we didn't have any issues with the questions.
Upon arriving at GZ, we forgot about the provided hints in the Adventure Lab, and so took a little more time searching ourselves the various spots that the cache could be as per the coordinates. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as DWEG1 (Davidwazza and e.gregory1) to save space in the logbook. Thanks burgo78 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found while in Townsville to attend the Mega event.
I travelled up from Adelaide, taking a week or so so get here, meeting up with FeatherWaite to do some caching around the Cunnamulla area then continuing on to Barcaldine and Charters Towers.
While in Townsville I teamed up with Budgietas, Stainless-steel-rat and Gooseandegg on some days, including a day on Magnetic Island, and with Davidwazza at other times. When caching with Davidwazza, logbooks were signed DWEG1.
All in all it was a terrific week or so in Townsville, with plenty of great caches found.

With great excitement we headed to Townville for the for the first FNQ Mega - we were very curious to see how much it had changed since we lived there pre-caching.
Our third day in Townsville and the Mega starts today. After attending the welcoming event we headed off to town and Cape P with maccamob, Pprass and squalid for the day to collect as many of the solved puzzles as we could.
Spent a bit of time here over the weekend and managed to see a game, Weird being at the footy in warm weather though.
Thanks for contributing to the fun burgo78

In town for the mega, using caching as a guide to show us the best of what the region has to offer.
After finishing the labs I made sure to grab the final while visiting a mate nearby . Very cute, even an out-of-towner got the reference

Day 3 of my Townsville Mega adventure with SnappyTomCats.
We started reasonably early this morning and walked along the river doing the Townsville Icons Adventure Lab cache. I enjoyed your adventure lab cache and it was a quick search to locate the bonus cache.

Found it nice and easily as there was no one around today. Thanks for placing another great cache.
Found the place deserted today. The clues made it very easy. Thanks for the tour and the bonus and for a chance to ride an orange scooter. Tftc
Did the labs yesterday and returned today to put the icing on the cake. Thanks for the series.
#14011 - 9:03:00 AM; Day eleven of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. The plan for today was to pick up an adventure lab in the city and a few of the local caches in that area before heading to the racecourse and joining a group of other cachers to tackle a couple of the geoart trails. After completing the AL's, we headed to GZ to add our names to the log for this bonus, which we found in a most suitable container. A favourite for that alone! TFTC burgo78
killing some time was in the area
did the lab last year, but too much foot traffic last time to grab the bonus
nice and quiet this afternoon
so ducked in for a quick find
only one other car in the area, and it had a geocaching trackable plastered to the back window so discovered that too.
thanks for the lab and the cache burgo

Day 11 of the road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today all about the caches around town.
We started off in he CDB before heading out for The Saint and then the GeoArt series. The caches around own were all found without issue with the highlight being our walk the Townsville stadium. At least I'll now know where the stadium is when I next watch a Cowboys game.
Thanks to all the CO's for the caches....they all help to make the trip and the mega a good time.

Day 3 of our Townsville Mega event weekend. Out early with hevwalker for a walk along the river doing an adlab and a couple of caches before going to GZ to the official opening and a quick run through the Maze. Then we headed of to Charters Towers to do touristy stuff and find a few caches. Thanks for a great Adlab! TFTC
Found by Mary and David, with pprass, The Morris and squalid at 11:40. A quick find after a short, systematic search. Our thanks to burgo78.
Found at 11:50:00 AM(t) in the company of maccamob, The Morris and squalid.
It strikes us that Townsville is such a modern town and so bright and clean. A tour around town where we were very pleased to see that there was hardly any traffic around, allowing us to park in places that may or may not have been ideal [:o)]
Thanks burgo78.

It’s Mega time once again!! Woo hoo!! Love these epic road trips and a wonderful Mega event. Managed to cache with loads of different people throughout the long weekend - such a fun way to cache! Have signed as SCG, X, Snag, Capital crunchers, NRC, Nibletricecakes, Minifigas, Minifig or some combination of the above! Thanks to everyone in the region for the top quality caching. Appreciate your efforts planting and maintaining these caches.
Such a clever AL and Bonus - a fav for me! Thanks

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 8. Townsville Mega section Day 8. Mega Day 1. Easter has arrived and the town is quiet. There was a plan to try the Breaking bad walk today, but that fell apart due to some planning issues and a possibility the park was closed. What's more, it was hot. Instead Smitten Granny, Gliss!, Nibletricecakes and I toured around town doing Labs and interesting caches we had solved or had peaked our interest during planning. The evening was the welcome to Mega event alongside some amazing gadget caches, followed by some impromptu night caching with Cosmonaut97.
We started a walk in ton for LABS, Virtuals & a few regular caches. Pretty open and hot as we went along the river to the stadium. This seems a great facility. Nice to stop by for this final cache.
Thanks for the cache burgo78

Found with Smittengranny, Albida33 and Nibletricecakes on a fabulous day exploring Townville. TFTC.
We found Adventure Lab Bonus - Townsville Icons while on our saintly pursuits in FNQ. ...we are glad we have finally made it here.
I started this early good Friday and except for a hiccup at waypoint 3 where my answer refused to be marked correct (therefor. causing me to swear about sequential adventures), the correct answer was finally deemed correct. At GZ with excellent coordinates and fantastic hints and spoiler pic, we made a very quick find. Gratefully, I must admit, being Victorian, I'm not keen to being so close to edge of FNQ waterways
Thanks burgo78 for hiding this cache so that we could come and enjoy ourselves

TFTC. Today was an Adventure Lab day. We thought it being Good Friday it would be a good day with lighter traffic and. Easier parking. As we traveled to the various waypoints we also stopped for various tradition /virtual and found bonus caches. A good start to the mega weekend.
This was an interesting Adventure Lab. Glad to learn a bit more history. Final was easy with all the clues given.

I was really hot and very foot sore by time we got hereby loved the cache- it was one of the special ones. Thanks.
After spending yesterday out on the Island, the target today was as many ALs as possible with a few others thrown in for good luck. So it was that Nibletricecakes Albida33 , GLISS! and I set off to become conquering heroes. All caches were found to be in excellent condition so were signed as NAGS or some such combination.
These caches were extraordinary in their variety and creativity. Huge thanks to all COS for the incredible effort that has gone into the creation and placement of both the ALs and caches.

We enjoyed the walk, visiting several varying Icons along the way, collecting cluses as we went.
At the final it required a bit of trial and error before we were rewarded with the cache container.
Thanks for this Adventure Lab bonus cache Burgo.

TFTC,
It's day 24 of our 2022 Northern escape tour to the Townsville MEGA via Karrumba and Cairns.
We can see the light at the end and will have travelled 5900Km's when we set up our van for the next week.
What a great walk with some important people revealed to us. Visited trackabkes.

greencordial and mum are out and about on this cloudy day, avoiding the housework and organising things.
I had the last AL saved for a rainy day and decided that I no longer needed it. Nice walk today to stage number 5 and off to the nearby bonus. Cache was slightly out of place but easily enough found and relocated with picture clues from AL journals.
Feedback from Mum: good walk and hiding spot was imaginative (But she didn’t understand the cache container).
Thanks to burgo78 for placing this cache for us to enjoy!

Completed the lab cached some 15 months ago, but only got around to finding the related bonus on the way into the film event today. Queit morning, took a couple of looks to shake the cache out, thanks for an interesting adventure Burgo.
We've been in Townsville for fifteen years and have not been near any of these icons previously. Thank you for making us get out of the car and look around.
I completed the AL the night before and made my way to GZ early the next morning. Was able to park 60m away and made a quick find with no muggles around.

This Adventure Lab took us to a range of locations we had not visited on our previous visits to Townsville. History, culture and sport were covered. We enjoyed it a lot.
With the coordinates for the Bonus in hand and punched into the GPSr we headed off to GZ.
On arrival we probably had too many hints in hand so made the search harder than it really needed to be. Then again, lucky we had them!
We are once more on the road today continuing our journey north. Today we are leaving Bowen and making our way towards Townsville, stopping as we are able to grab any accessible caches that pop up on our way.
Once we arrived in town and were set up we had some lunch and then headed out to work on the Adventure Lab caches. We enjoy these as something different and take our opportunities to complete as many as we can. The two we managed today went off without a hitch.
We juggled the GPSr at the same time and also managed to pick up a few other caches as we went/
Thanks go to all the local, and the few not so local, CO’S for placing the caches for us to find. Without you we would have no pursuit to take part in. We appreciate your efforts, and thank you for your time.

Day six of my road trip and day four in Townsville. The plan today was to just drive around town collecting target caches from my list and working my way to my 6000th cache. There was a lot of backtracking and walking trails but it was a very rewarding day, thank you.
Working my way around town I had a few target caches to collect and then there was a few I collected as I passed. So the next part of my plan today was to go and collect a few more before I went and got the virtual as my 6000th cache.
Having arrived at the stadium to complete a nearby cache I went for a walk to finalise the adventure lab. With some new information and a new set of coordinates I was on my way to find the cache. Was Burgo feeling sick the day he set this one up, it was toooo easy, with clues of the hide and a great set of finals, really this can’t be a Burgo hide. Maybe I’m learning not to pick the hard caches now or getting better at my Townsville caching. Thanks for placing this one here, a great hide, with log signed and cache replaced as found I was off to my next one in the area.

After riding in from Annandale through two downpours and we didn't have a dry bit of clothing, we were in full agreement when some passing cyclists called out 'the weather forecast is wrong'. Unless 1 ml is a lot bigger in the tropics.....
So it was great to see fine weather again while we did the AL. We must have ridden past some of these icons previously and not noticed them. Today we got a guided tour, took holiday snaps of strangers with the big Townsville and found the bonus. Well played Burgo78... the ultimate Townsville icon. TFTC, FP!

I need to start taking a pen with me when we do A L’s!!! I thought we were going back to the car but we walked the whole way. I was just hoping there’d be a writing implement in the cache container and lucky for us there was. Loved this bonus cache. Thanks burgo78 for the cache.
We love AL caches, and this one is no exception.
Enjoyed visiting the stations along the way and are pleased that we had GZ to ourselves today.
Some terrific places, though we non-locals feel the heat whilst walking around the city.

I do love an adventure lab so thanks burgo78 for having this great walk, showing off some great local locations. As has been the theme for this weekend it was wet at GZ but I offered to go get the cache. Very appropriate.
Great little adventure cache. Was well worth getting the app and playing that new caching aspect.
Thanks Burgo78 for taking us on an adventure around Townsville.
I really enjoyed getting a walk in to start the new year.
Novel container but very fitting for a Townsville icon.
Favourite point added too.
