This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 13634.After checking with the owner, they allowed me to replace this one and the same spot as indicated by the photos. Cache on!Thanks ShannonPC for the cache.

06-Sep-24
I plan on replacing this one in the coming days after confirmation from the CO that they are happy for me to do so in the area shown in previous photos.

04-Sep-24
We had hoped to find this one today but alas it wasnt to be. Looking at previous photos the cache is missing. Thanks anyway ShannonPC

We looked all over, got attacked by blackberry bushes. Weve also a lot of rain this week, which is limiting access. After about 30 minutes and based on the last DNF for this cache, we reluctantly decide to give up today. Will put this cache on our watch list and come back another day. Now to head to the Longley to drown our sorrows after 2 DNF today

Tasmania Trip Day 8. After arriving in Hobart yesterday afternoon and having a nice walk before dinner, today my aim was to visit some counties to the south west of the city. I did not go onto the island, but I did the rest of the counties. It was not the most successful of starts to the day, but I reached the numbers I was hoping for and headed back into town where I went for a much longer walk around the middle of the city and docks to do about six sets of Labs. By the time that was all done I was looking forward to dinner and a long nights rest.Between the blackberries and steep sone walls, I managed to not find this one. Thanks.Albida

On a drive today with a client, collecting some caches along the way. I approached this one from the wrong side, so after some rock hopping across the cache was found. Lots of blackberries to grab onto my clothes Nice spot though

Happy International GeoCaching Day

Well today I had the please of meeting some lovely Tasmanian GeoCachers at the Sorell event. Everyone was very nice and welcoming.

After that I headed back in the direction of Hobart to pick up a Cache before I had to meet some workmates at Moonah for a work Social event. After the Social event I found a couple more on the way home.

A lovely day all around (not the thorns from the blackberries though, that was not fun)

The following caches is what I found today.

GC Name Type

GC6PD7K Rooster Laneway Traditional

Went down the prickly way but cache was quickly in hand thanks to our teenage helper! Log is a bit wet but useable

With help from my teenage assistant we found it!

Water levels up and thorns everywhere

Loved this place had a great time playing don't fall in haha found with Enigbrah! Tftc

22-Apr-23
A few fallen trees on the far side of the river. Everything's looking a bit loose over there. I'd say that cache is probably gone.

22-Apr-23
Oh .. found it after all. As previous finder said, box is damaged .. looks like eaten through by rat or so.

03-Mar-23
On our last visit here this was a dnf for us.
This time we were able to correct that.
Cache found and our names finally added to the log.

Thanks for the cache. Not much water in the river today to easy to make our way to GZ. The GeoGSP's enjoyed having a paddle in the water and cooling off. A nice quick find.

23-Nov-22
We parked close to the pub and walked to GZ hoping the river wouldn’t be too high.
It definitely wasn’t as high as it would have been a few weeks ago, but looking back at previous photos it definitely isn’t as low as it’s ever been either. It wasn’t very hard to figure out a way across the river and the actual crossing wasn’t that hard either.
The main challenge for us was getting past all the blackberries without getting scratched and finding the actual cache as well.

We checked a few spots before noticing a likely location and so scrambled past some more blackberry bushes to get to it.
Sure enough the cache was there and well hidden.

Unfortunately the water level in the recent flood must have been quite high as the bottom part of the container has a large hole in it and is full of water. The log book is too wet to sign so a photo of it is below.

A wonderful location for a cache and I like the added challenge of crossing the river.

Great cache, favourite point given.

Thanks for the adventure and cache ShannonPC!

With only one can of beer in the fridge on a Friday afternoon, what better place to cache than just up the road from the pub. Probably would have been more fun after a few drinks, but still a good challenge. Thanks ShannonPC

29-Jan-22
After many visits, I finally had the right combination of low river, no muggles, and encouragement from family, so I leapt (tottered) across and quickly had the cache in hand.
Thanks!

When i arrived at this one i parked up in that small spot on the western side then walked over the bridge to the GZ area. A small battle with the blackberry bushes [:o] but i had them under control enough to not get slivered ha ha Big Grin
Down to the rock wall, i went. I was looking for about 10 minutes before i homed in on the actual hidey spot.

It was spotted and i was SL at 12:47 on Friday 20 August 2021.
Nice spot with a bit of a challenge when the creek is running which it was. Too much for a simple rock-hop over to GZ Big Grin I can imagine what this spot would be like when it's raging Wink

The cache and contents are in A1 condition Cool

We decided to get up nice and early so that we could gather a few caches that have appeared since our last visit! Lady membsec hasn’t been this far down (Cockle Creek) but male membsec has to either walk the track or to take visitors to this area!

There were 3 brand new caches that came out last night so we decided to see if we could get those 3 caches, which we did. We weren’t too sure if we had time to do this one but thought we would check it out.

Getting to GZ was a challenge but we both managed to manoeuvre across and male membsec placed his hand on the container first! The log book was a bit damp. Hope it lasts.

A little tricky to find ... but good fun ... happy Easter

Beautiful little spot to hide a cache. Book was damp but all good a part from that. TFTC

28-Mar-21
While caching in the area we picked you cache along the way.

After working out how to get to the cache we found your cache well hidden so the floods would not wash it out, cache and contents were in good condition.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Such a beautiful river. Crystal clear water. Saw a little trout. And even called in for quick cold ale at the Longley afterwards Smile
Log book is slightly damp but writeable. BYO pen/pencil.
TFTC ShannonPC!

Yay! We headed out for a couple of drive bys but were stoked with the little bit of adventure this provided! Thanks! Fingers crossed I dont get wet on the way back.

10-Mar-21
The water level was low so we made it across from the carpark side. Many thanks.

This one has been on our radar for a while. We were in the area today and with the river so low it was a perfect time to get it . TFTC

22-Feb-21
Found it! Full log to follow.

14-Feb-21
We have a bit of an attraction to high terrain caches, so this one soon popped up on our radar. A brief detour was had this afternoon and we found ourselves in search of this cache. It turned out to be a nice & easy 4* terrain but I can imagine after lots of rain and/or snowmelt that this location would be much harder to access. Tasty blackberries nearby too! TFTC!
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

On my excursion with budgietas and oldsaint the other sunday past, i borrowed somebody's 'yak to traverse the rapids and secure the prize.
Almost fell in at one point, but didn't and managed to one arm handgrab the cache and autograph the contents before replacing as found.
Thanks shannonpc for an interesting d/t combo that was surprisingly easy to attain.

This was a bit of a spur of the moment cache with me pulling over to just have a look and assess the danger of this T4 but with it all looking safe for me and my current level of fitness we moved the car to the other side and made our way to GZ without a problem.
The Goose made the find as he was faster on his feet getting across the river and we had the cache replaced in no time and made our way back to the car without any issues.

My first caching trip of the new year and a good one at that, always feels like I'm down this way cleaning up caches every couple of months.

Thanks for the cache.

Today we decided to risk the raging rapids to access this cache rather than the razor berries. Careful planning ensured a safe crossing with all sorts of safety equipment deployed on location.
It was a life and death situation but we secured the find and made it back to safely with just a few cuts and bruises.

Found after a difficult trek through water lol, TFTC in a lovely area

This was a fun little cache. Hopped the river, dodged the blackberries and soon had it in hand. Gee the music from the pub is loud though! Note to self: don't come here on a Sunday. SL TNTL TFTC.

We headed out today to find some caches for Wonders of the World travelling to Allens Rivulet, Glenlusk, Granton and in between and yours was one we found. Too steep for Mrs W and water too deep to cross from the other side so Mr W scrambled down the bank and found it. TFTC

06-Aug-20
Finally got around to finding this cache. Approached from the wrong side, but given the high water that was the only way to get there.

After a lunch with muggle friends at the Longley Hotel, we thought we would collect this one. This took some searching as there were so many places it could have been. The geokids loved exploring the area and after about 15 minutes, we found the cache. TFTC

A little tricky to get to but worth it. The log is slightly damp but not wet.

Hi ShannonPC,

A nice day to be out and about caching with EeePees.
Thanks again,

Thanks for the cache ShannonPC.
Found this afternoon with KingSmev; who chose to tackle/enjoy the river crossing; whilst I elected to scramble thru the brambles down the bank just maybe 2 metres upstream.
I won!

When we arrived at this location, we quickly worked out where this cache would be hidden. The task, however, was working out how to access the area. After fighting with some blackberries, Mrs y'stassie got down to GZ and quickly found the cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks ShannonPC for the cache. However, we wonder about the longevity of the cache because it seems vulnerable where the water level rises.

18-Jul-20
Not a DNF so much as a DNSearch. The terrain rating was definitely warranted today, with the river up. I contemplated wading, a bank scramble from above, or going down the other side on the other side of the bridge and then going under the bridge (this looked most likely, but still a little sketchy) before deciding I didn't need to get wet/scratched today and I'll come back another time (maybe in dry season!).
Thanks anyway.

After a bit of bad wifi we finally got there and a tricky crossing

Great spot that we hadn’t noticed before.

I wasn’t expecting the need to cross over. I spied the cache out the corner of my eye while searching in another more likely spot. Thanks for bring me here. I was very pleased to find a former cricket ground nearby that I was unaware of.

Hello ShannonPC thank you for the cahce

Today I went for a drive to Huonville to find a cache and on the way back I stopped off at a place I had been to before.

The water level was quite low today so it wasn't too difilcult to get across the river to the cache.

The cache was easily found, in a spot I spotted from the other side of the river.
