Out and about today poking around Mt Major. What an amazing view. Thanks for placing this cache here for me to find and showing me around this beautiful place. All good here. Now, onto the next one for the day. TNLN TFTC
Shepparton is an area that we often drive through but has never been a destination. This Kings birthday long weekend we made it our destination to tick off some caches in the area Nice easy find but with fading daylight and low battery on the phone it was only just Tftc
Found quickly after the freezing cold trek over to this one.
Log was wet and mouldy.
Scratched our names on log and decided that we may aswell get the one we have left.
Maintenance required.

Actually found it on 19/1 but forgot to log it! Interesting history on the original cache going back to 2002. Relatively easy to find but was worried about snakes in the long grass.
With the rest of the family in Sydney and a busy few weeks coming up at work I decided last week to have a day off to go caching. Looked at the map and initially thought about Shepparton but then saw an intriguing collection at Mount Major so that became my target. Picked what would be a sunny day (was raining when I left Albury but was fine most of the day - though very windy). In the end a successful day with 26 caches found and one DNF. Turned out to be a Team BGF day.
Lots of walking up and Fien for the next few caches. Could see where this would be so slogged over from the tower. Once I searched the right pile of rocks was a quick find.

Finished work and thought we had a couple more hours still up our sleeve so we thought we’d come and make a visit to Mount major absolutely beautiful stunning day for a walk
This took some creative work to reach the treasure - I just don’t have gorilla arms. Guess that’s part of the fun! Out and about on trusty treadles aka the MTB as I heard Mt Major is fun for riding. I don’t mind uphills but it’s not really my style of terrain - still a change of altitude and fab views of where I’ve just driven from! with beaut panoramic views of home base. Buffalo looks impressive and there’s plenty of snow on the peaks. Apart from skittish sheep, no muggles today. Cache locate and mission accomplished. Now it’s off to Shep with a load of boxes for #1 daughter who has moved there so I’m crystal balling plenty of visits. TFTC and the fun!
I decided last night that I was going up Mt Major this morning to claim the two caches that I missed last time I was here with my babe dalerious. The day we came up here was quite warm and I had not had my knee operation yet, so I was in pain most of the way. Fast forward to today and the temperature was more to my liking, and my knee is better than it has ever been. I headed up the beautiful ascent to gz, enjoying the view and conditions, when I spied something that was out of place. Needless to say, I scored an extra bonus whilst making my way to the prize. Thank you Team BGF for providing and maintaining this cache which was found in good condition.
#17478. It has been a while since I have been out caching and today Robmc, Howjen567 and I made an attack on Mount Major. Rob and Howard had done some of these back on 6th July but this was my first time here. We arrived at the carpark at 9.30am and were back again in 4 hours and 20 minutes. This included a few long side treks and a decent lunch break at the top. We were the only ones here today which surprised me as most people have had to contend with many walking muggles. Fortunately I had a walking pole but even so I found the downhill back to the car rather difficult. Walking is most definitely not a favourite sport for me. Give me a bike any day.
It seemed a long way back here with a bit of a scramble to retrieve the prize - naturally the current prize and not the original cache #79. Signed off this last one at 1.18pm so it was obviously a 40 minute hike back to the car, with a few rest stops of course.
Thanks Team BGF

Found this cache as part of the afternoon's outing on the mountain to find all 13 caches as it stand to date. More great views, but didn't see any bike riders. We had another look again to spot the mountains in the distance. Love all the thought and creativeness put into your caches Team BGF. Dropped TB off. TFTC
I remember seeing a few of these get published a few months back and thinking I’d like to get over to check out the area at some stage. Then lockdown 2.0 happened and I forgot about them.
After collecting a number of the wonders of the world souvenir challenge tokens recently I then discovered the final two I needed happened to be on the Mt Major series. I spoke to the wife and we hatched a plan. Today wasn’t supposed to be to wet or cold so we set out from Wangaratta just before lunch.
We ate lunch in the car park before setting off up the hill at 12:18pm. I hadn’t even counted the caches up there, we mostly wanted to just get outside in the fresh air. After arriving at the tower we spent a lot more time off track for the rest of the day. The landscape is covered in thick knee high cape weed!
I don’t think we took the most efficient route around up top but we made it fun.
A quick find by Nat and I while Em gave Cassie a bit of a walk out of the backpack.
Found at 2:05pm #6

Just one more before work cos who knows when I will be back up here again.
Having made the summit a little quicker than I thought these old legs could, I completed the multi and decided to go a little further and see if I could find an old archived ammo can cache that I knew used to be hidden aroud here somewhere once upon a time.
Unfortunately all I found was this one.
Oh well... Beggers cant be choosers I guess.
How could I have known while signing this log that after not being on top of Mt Major for some 34 years, I would be back up here again the very next evening. [:o]

Even tho Marli had the device it was yet another find for Ben. Ben Marli Nice hide, beautiful views. TFTC
Yes, well as the name says we had to look again, again and again before we laid hands on the prize. Have we mentioned that Mt Major is full of rocks, rocky outcrops, rocky paths, piles of rocks, big rocks, little rocks, jagged rocks, hard rocks? We were very glad to find this ammo can in a rocky outcrop and SL at 2.45pm TNLN #7084 TFTC Team BGF Now time to hit the summit!
After driving out of the pea soup fog in Wang, I arrived at howjen567's house in brilliant sunshine!
We set off for the Major Walk series, and joined the hordes walking up the new track. Not sure where all these muggles came from, but there was plenty of room on the track for us all.
Fantastic views from the top across to Mt Buller and Bogong, both snow capped (and Wang still in fog!)
The series (as it is atm) took us about 3 hours to complete, including lunch at the top.
We could see where we needed to walk to for this cache, and on arrival we found where the wind was blowing from!
Next time could you put the cache on the other side of the rocks?
Always good to find an ammo can though.
Stopped for lunch here.
Thanks, Robmc.

After a long walk to the top with WeAreGleesos. Soon they had cache in hand. TFTC.
Found with gleesonstribe. Love the views up here. Like I said in the other cache, this is the first time I’ve climbed Mt Major, and I will be back, thanks for bringing us here Team BGF. And we will come back to do the Summit multi, the kids are tired so we will head home, and the other cache gives us the reason to come back.
FTF 12:20pm More to come after I thaw out. Well home now and thanks for another great cache BGF. The wind was blowing a gale up there today and I had to grab my beanie a couple of times. It took me a good hunt to find it, must have been frozen brain syndrome. All's well when you find it.
