On our way back to Auckland but saw all the caches around the mine, so decided to stop for a walk along the pit rim track. Number 3 of 11 on the walk. With gavinjodie. TFTC
Good find today. I did move the container out of sight, but still in same clump. TFC
Down from Auckland so my partner can re-do the electrics in his sisters new house! This means I have spare time to find geocaches! Todays task: the Pit Rim Walkway, and all its caches! TFTC!

This one was right next to another many entrances to the Pit Rim track. This cache was visible from the track so we had it quickly
Today 3 of the Team SEAC crew headed down as the Waihi Walking Wanderers...a smaller crew than usual being Easter Weekend but that didn't stop our enthusiasm or plan for the day. Another great day out for sure!! Best of all not a single DNF!!A while ago we had completed this walk but for some reason there were 4 not attempted / found that day so we were back for them today. I stopped to tie my laces and as I went to move further towards GZ it had already been found.Thanks for the cache.
The call went up as another caching raid had been planned (in minute detail I have to say) by Keylev. As it was Easter weekend we didn't have the full Team SEAC compliment but 3 of us headed down to Waihi to execute "THE PLAN". So starts the adventure of Keyle, NurseDr and NZTravellers.Parked close to GZ and I made the find before others got there.TFTC
Im staying in Waihi for the weekend for some leisurely bike riding and walking in some new areas.Having visited the tower last night I resolved to ride the loop today before heading home. Nothing too tricky and some caches en route.More muggles, so needed to stop and wait a while until they headed out of sight. Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit & doing the things that we want to do we are currently parked up at the Waihi Beach NZMCA Campsite decided that we would head over to Waihi & have a look around at the Gold Mining History and do a couple of caches while there we did a couple of Adventure Labs & decided to walk around the Martha Mine Pit Rim Walkway & see what we could find the cache was easily found, completed & replaced pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,658 for us!Headed down to Athenree for the first camping trip with my niece and two nephews. We planned on visiting the Gold Discovery centre once it opened, but had plenty of time to spend beforehand. I had promised the kids that the walk was pretty flat and would only take us around an hour or so. This seemed to appease my oldest nephew, who'd taken a tumble on the Karangahake Gorge walk and banged his knee up pretty well. Unfortunately, this was proved wrong not long after we started. We did go in a clockwise direction, so ended up going down the really big hill. While my youngest nephew was freaking out about a spider that had gotten on him, I quickly spied the cache and retrieved it from its hiding spot
Found along with SJCgeocamp. It was the last day of a four day trip planned mostly around some neat geocaching experiences and it was nice to finish with this lovely walk before heading home.
This is one I had left for a wee while but is close to home. Nice to be able to roam around and not get wet! TFTC
I was spending a couple of days in Waihi and this evening I was out and about completing the AdLabs here and picking up a few other caches that I haven't done before. This was my second walk around the Pit Rim, picking up some newer cache hides and one that I DNFed on my last visit. Quick find here, TFTC!
Headed down this way for some RnR with Mrs stik-a-crane and junior cacher, staying at Waihi Beach..... spotted on the way down that these were new since my last visit here....luckily not too many muggles in the area today lending for a speedy find here.....

Summer Geocaching Road Trip - Day 6 - Whakatane -> Tauranga -> Waihi -> Auckland. It's been a while since I've been off on a road trip and this one has been on the cards for quite a while. I plan to visit some parts of the country where I've done very little caching before and hope to complete the qualification for a challenge cache in Nelson. Last day of my road trip. I was going to spend a night in Waihi but weather conditions and the potential for road closures between there and Auckland meant I didn't stop there for long. As I approached cache find #19000, I decided to go for a walk around the pit and find as many caches as I could to make that milestone. Found as per the hint. TFTC, Biggles.
Over at Waihi beach for the afternoon and we dropped in here to pick this one up. Quick find - thanks for placing it
First days of sunshine and I did the walk around the pit.
I think I am not good enough for New Zealand because I found in 3 hours only 11 boxes.

Difficult to say something Different every log as you get yet another cache on The Rim
Found with trayc.g on our way to Beach Hop in Whangamata. Am looking forward to some family adventures over the next week with this walk being one of them TFTC

Last time I was here this part of the walkway wasn’t open so nice to return and get these new caches along this part. A nice easy find too
During our way to south, we stopped at this amazing place - The Martha Goldmine. What a great view. Unfortunately we hadn't enough time to turn around the whole mine, but we were able to find the some Traditionals, the EC and last but not least the Virtual.

Stayed in Whangamata with kids for weekend decided we would do the pit rim track today. Quick find here I’m between muggles passing by. Tffc
Weren't too many trees to search here, so I knew it wasn't going to be a tough cache to find... but it shouldn't have been this easy as the container felt like it had just been chucked in the rough area from the last finder as it was VERY exposed and significantly at risk of being muggled 
After signing myself in, I made the careful effort to replace with a light layer of natural camo. TFTC nodo!
Last day of the long weekend and it's ANZAC Day! To pay respect, I didn't find any caches until after 1:00pm but once the clock struck 1 it was GO, GO GO!!! Had an awesome afternoon walking all over Waihi with the highlight being the pit rim walkway around the Martha mine. All in all, I found a total of 28 caches including 19 trads, 5 AL's, 2 Virtuals, 1 Earth cache and 1 Mystery... Thanks very much to all CO's for their hides

Today was a wet day in the middle of the school holidays. We decided to take advantage of a break in the showers and head off on a geo-caching walk around the pit rim. The weather stayed fine and we kept a tally of how may geocaches each person found.

Funny how you eye everyone suspiciously when theres activity near a bunch of caches. "Wonder if he's caching?...".

Had a quick look today, but as the branches started crashing down onto the track nearby in the gales, we decided to beat a hasty retreat to the car! Maybe next time...

Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. The weather was mostly dry today, another bonus. We cruised from Waihi Beach to Te Aroha, and got here just as the heavens opened. Another great day!

Had to wait for some muggles on their quad bike to pass through the gate before grabbing this cache. So pretended to walk for a bit before heading back. Andrew was excited to see the quad bike
Having a great day out and about around Waihi on our bikes - with a bit of caching thrown in - Perfect! Have to say we had fun getting up these hills on our bikes! Great track though. Cache is all good. ,TFTC

Great the track has been redirected. This part of the track was closed. last time I was here. Back to complete the caches on this interesting walkway. Thanks for the placement
Out exploring Coromandel during the holiday season. Finding the rest of the Pit Rim series not found previously. TFTC.
Luckily this was a quick find as we had a thunderstorm bearing down on us. Signed log quickly then off to the last one.
Heading up to Northland to meet the kids for the Christmas holidays. Had time to return here to clear up 4 sad faces on the Pit Rim walkway. Happy that we managed to find them all. Thanks for replacing this one.
