Found but couldn't get it.

#24873. No problem getting this house down (partly because it was a little lighter than it should be as one of its panel's is missing). TFTC.

After spending time in the Barossa Valley, StreetWalkerNZ and I drove back to Adelaide this morning as we fly to Sydney tomorrow. With the rental car, we are more flexible than we were on our initial visit when we mainly relied on public transit and walking.Another cache we weren't sure if we would be able to retrieve, as we wondered if it would be too heavy for our tool. Fortunately, not and soon we were signing the log. No one home today. TFTC.

Thanks to Freddo for this interesting cache, well there was something at home today. It was a log.We retrieved, signed and popped it back safe and sound. We felt sorry for the parks people as they have had to rewire the light poles at the touch footy grounds after someone stole the copper wire and other important parts from 5 of the towers.12 kgs in each large box and then the assorted wire that was taken. The sparky was amazed but not surprised of the damage done. He admired our TOTT.

Found it but too high to catch

Tough cache. I found it but to be honest there is no way I could climb and get it. I love and hate because sometimes the challenge is a little bit more than I and I imagine a few others are willing to take as well thanks for the cache. Goonies Never Say Die and in this case that is ever so true

10-Jun-24
Attempt 2 to get this one. My first attempt I was staying in the nearby green hill lodge & did not have any TOTT with me, I was unable to purchase any locally so I had to patiently wait for Tweety2s to arrive in the mail and then for us to make a return journey. In the meantime I did try everything in my power & I actually believe I could have retrieved it - I was very close. But I knew if I stretched it that far Id never be able to replace it. So I knew I had to leave empty handed. But in the spirit of entertainment, picture this. An overweight cacher climbing a tree with two long branches taped together with gaffa tape. She finally scrambles up, only to drop the branches. Down she goes. Retrieves the branches. Climbs back up, but she has exerted herself now on the first climb and her strength has waned so it takes many futile attempts before she is finally able to scramble back up. Climbing a little higher and a little higher standing in the tree. She extends her taped branches up. They arent overly secure, the join makes them wobbly. Up, up, up the go. Only 10cm short, Im not on tip toes yet, I could do it - I think I can. But no hope of returning it. So defeated I descend. Todays attempt was much less entertaining. Its a public holiday so parking with a trailer was easy. We traverse to GZ. Much laughter ensues as Tweety2 pops her pole cache cherry. I jump in to do the replacement so I can test out the pole. It was all over very quickly. TFTC!

10-Jun-24
As with a previous cacher, a find I didn't find!!

10-Jun-24
Popped my poles cherry on this one. Purchased after Easter it was time to use it. We figured parking shouldnt be too bad on a public holiday, and we were right. Took a stroll in the park, retrieved the cache(had a laugh while doing so), signed the log, laughed again while replacing the cache. Ok, now we are hooked, wheres the next one?

What an education thanks Tweety2 and Martini tftc

I tagged along with the second half of ozguff and pie_moms pole and ladder caching adventures. There was lots of fun to be had and a heap of new skills like pole fishing to learn. Not to mention a lot of cache finds that I never would have been able to get without tagging along. An awesome but tiring afternoon Tftc

20-Apr-24
Out with pie_mom and makingpie, and having a ball!Got a decent parking spot and made the short stroll to the GZ. Found the container and got to work acquiring the log. All good here.

20-Apr-24
Having a great day out with OzGuff and makingpie. Enjoying getting to do high caches. Thanks for the high cache.

12-Apr-24
In search of more pole caches to quality for a local Challenge, I stopped in the city and found myself 3 more caches to retrieve. This was the second one. I expected to need my 10m pole but being 64 has its advantages, so a 7m pole sufficed.there was on one home so I quickly continued on my merry wayTftc Freddo

20-Mar-24
Another geocache that I found, but didnt find.

13-Mar-24
As most of our goals have been achieved for this visit and there is just so much left to do we decided to target a few D/T combo's that are a bit hard to come by at home. This meant a low count for today's total but the quality of the caches made up for it. This was one of the caches we looked at last night and came over today to grab it as it had a desirable D/T rating. Managed to find a nice close parking area and got out our ToTT to retrieve it. A nice simple claim with the right tools. Signed log and returned as found. tftc#9311

I was looking at my D/T grid and was just one DT short of completing t he next loop, so I looked at the map to see if anything fitted. To my surprise, this one did, and it seems not to hard.So I set off early in the morning and half way here I realised that I am pretty sure I know what the hide is, and that the TOTT I had with me would not cut it, and the TOTT I left behind was the one I would need. Where I was staying is 3/4 hour away.Turn back? Carry on? I am going to loose too much of the day if I turn back, so I carried on in the hope I had what I needed.Parked at the nearby car park and set off across the lawn with the TOTT I did have. Hey! There are some guys trimming the trees! Can I borrow your cherry picker? Yeah, okay, maybe not.Get to GZ> Start hunting. Yep, the cache is EXACTLY what I thought it would be, and luckily, the TOTT I brought with me was actually the right one! The cache was soon retrieved signed and returned.Yep, this is indeed one of the many favourites I let go today. Easily the best of the lot!A note for the CO - one of the sides is missing.---Greetings from New Zealand! It's the last day of my Mega holiday in Australia. Mostly, so far, it has been about the numbers, today it is about quality. Skuzzy Bear gave me a overly ambitious list of 130 caches to visit, all good ones, apparently. So they were the only ones I looked at today. Lord knows how many I just drove past! on the long route out to Murray Bridge. Only found sixteen caches, but probably dropped 10 favourites, my biggest favourite drop day to date. There are some seriously cool caches out there!

03-Mar-24
Bought a TOTT but what attachment to retrieve the cache? My waking stick should do the trick. Retrieved the cache, found the log and replaced it. TOTT down but no stick Sad. Found and retrieved the stick and the job was done! Thanks Freddo

Find # 13955I'm in the Adelaide area for the Great Leap Forward event. Not just for the days event, but making it a week long trip of caching n catching up with mates.Flying solo......Day 7. With an invite to go out on a boat, we had headed out to Adventure Island for the caches. Then I was solo Caching around Adelaide grabbing high D/T and fave point caches and detoured north for a series I've had my eye on for a while and was highlighted in the Mega informationKFC had and a walk in the park required. This was another cache that was on My "DT to Get" list. Thankfully a shortish walk and a rather quick grab with the right TOTT was made. TFTC Freddo the Chocolate Frog

**Today** Another long day of caching in Adelaide! We made a new recruitment to the group today, welcome Brain! So myself, Brain, DSD, pantspeople and Muppet95 all squeezed into a car and headed off to clean out some more bucket list caches! We started off with the morning event, before heading off to the North Adelaide precinct for plenty of TOTT caches and others nearby. This area alone kept us busy for 4 hours! Muppet95 then had to be dropped to the airport, farewell friend, thanks for the laughsWe then headed out to Urban Easy as it was an old date we didnt want to miss, whilst also getting another old cache nearby that started interstate! It was then time for pantspeople & Brain to be dropped off at the airport via a couple more caches! That leaves just myself and DSD! We decided to grab a few more caches in the south east corner of Adelaide park before calling it a day! Thanks to all the COs **This Cache**The broken pole continues to successfully find us caches, wooohooo! Another one on the list ticked off, just a one more now before food & bed, its been a long day!

Im currently on the great novo Leap Day road trip of 2024 which starts in the north east of VIC and heads to Mildura via Echuca and Swan Hill, then on into SA through the Riverland and Barossa before heading to Adelaide for [The Leap Day event](https://coord.info/GL1BKDZBZ), and then the Adelaide Hills and greater ADL area for some cache cherry-picking before heading south to Millicent via the Fleurieu Peninsula. This is probably the biggest geocaching road trip I have undertaken to date with around 200 finds planned!A few caches to find in and around ADL this morning before making my way south. Another one here where I thought I'd have trouble parking but I managed to find the last one actually right in the park itself, where a short and enjoyable walk to GZ soon had me fishing out yet another cache. We have the perfect day for caching today it's like 29 degrees and sunny. Thanks Adelaide and TFTC Freddo the Chocolate Frog.#1885

01-Mar-24
Plans were made to attend the SA mega although our plans changed as both of our team couldn't go due to other commitments. So with that being sorted we booked everything and only made it a short visit to SA this time.Day 3 and final day of caching before it was time get back on a plane and head home.Out and about this morning after checking out of our accommodation to collect more puzzles that we had solved prior to the trip. Slowly running out of time we wandered to this one as well and made a quick find. Thanks for the hide Freddo and thanks for a short but sweet and successful trip away Rapidlywild

01-Mar-24
Plans were in place with FurfacesLL #1 to attend the SA single day mega. We had done the Anna Tommy series on day 1, then the Mega items on day 2 plus Victor Harbor and some tree fishing. It was now onto day 3, the last before we board our flights and head home. The D/T on this one was too tempting to not try. We had a car of TOTTs at our disposal, and chose the right one first time round. No issues with the retrieval, stamped log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache placement Freddo and thanks to FFLL for another awesome couple days of caching away from home. Looking forward to the next trip.

A late-night decision to take advantage of cheap airfares for dates less than a month after moving to Canberra committed me to a hectic 48 hours of geocaching and the most intensive stats-chasing I must've done to date!Despite having visited South Australia before, I'd never actually ventured into Adelaide and had plenty of fun being guided around it by some great geocaches.Secret deals done with RoamingHowie secured me a seat in his car for leap day itself (and I somehow ended up in charge of the day's itinerary in the process) as we ventured across Adelaide alongside TheBelgianKet, OzHockeyChick, GeoTurtle37 and Papi4506 for some shenanigans of MEGA proportions!Jumping between T5s, we headed to this lovely DTed cache to see if anyone was home. The answer was, in fact, yes! But only after we checked with the pole, of course. Our names entered the visitors book and all was returned to where it belonged. Thanks to Freddo for hiding this one! Smile

29-Feb-24
Teamed up with RoamingHowie, Brain, Papi4506, Geoturtle37 & TheBelgianKet to explore Adelaide, setting our sights on various types and leap day add-ons.We targetted this thanks to the tempting DT rating. Again, happy to have a smiley in its place here. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, Freddo ??~????????~

29-Feb-24
RoamingHowie, Brain, Geoturtle37, TheBelgianKet, OzHockeyChick and myself set off in a couple of vehicles to find as many of the Feb 29th add-ons as we could. This was another that we were aiming for today and I'm happy to say, the find, retrieval, signing and return were all performed with no fuss at all. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.

29-Feb-24
We had made sure we had the most used TOTT's with us when we headed to the SA Mega and we are pleased we did as we used them all quite often. Thanks for placing the cache for us all to enjoy.

Day #9 Leaping Forward AdventuresLeap day is finally! A busy jam packed day is ahead. Traveling around with TheBelgianKet, Brain, OzHockeyChick, GeoTurtle37 and Papi4506.I had visited this cache earlier in the week to help Posums tick off his LGA. A return trip today to again find it with the rest of the crew. Thanks Freddo for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. -The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! Be sure to find all the caches and earn the souvenir before the tour is archived. The [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour Event - GCAFQ8B](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) is on 18 February 2024.Looking for caches to find when visiting Victoria? Cache # 10996 on 29 Feb 2024Mega time! This is my first mega in South Australia so am very excited to have made it here from the ACT. Arrived Wednesday by plane and leaving Adelaide on Saturday for a road trip back to the ACT. Travelling mostly with Fox in Jox, TikvaNZ and ZQX, but also with others intermittently. Looking forward to grabbing a wide variety of caches while here! Today was the main course, with lots of different types of caches, DTs, old caches and attending the Mega of course. Finished with the dinner event at the mega site. A fun day overall despite sore feet towards the end. Quick find and retrieve. Cute container! Thank you Freddo for the cache and the fun!

On completion of our tunnel adventures earlier today, followed by a refreshing morning tea, we decided to grab some local caches whilst we had a selection of ToTs between us all.Joined by geo friends, domsky, E_Smiley, Tenkae & patrol14, we had an action-packed day.We walked a fair bit through the parks as parking for three cars was our big hindrance around this location. All caches found were in good condition and a credit to the cache owners who placed them ??

28-Feb-24
Today was the first day of my geocaching adventures in Adelaide with Kittykatch, Isopeda, barb2e, Joolay, and Albida33 henceforth known as SALI24 (South Australian Leap Invasion 24) which is how we signed the logs in the caches we found.I wondered what geocaching would be like with a group of folks here in Australia. It did NOT disappoint. They are well prepared, great finders, intrepid hunters and climbers, and just a whole lot of fun. They are also incredibly kind and patient as they took me along at a fast pace. They remind me a lot of the wonderful friends I cache with at home. It was hot today (much hotter than the winter temperatures I left in the U.S.) but we often found shade and enjoyed the breezes as we trekked into and out of the beautiful green spaces and neighborhoods we visited for the caches.More hiking and chatting and another cool cache. This group definitely sets their goals and hunts them hard. I love that. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!

Well after a whirl wind tour of Tasmania to help with 3 challenges that Im working on, I got back in late Tuesday night then packed the Geowagon and headed off to SA early Wednesday morning to attend the Leap Year Mega and to also tick off some LGAs along the way as well.Well after crossing the border the other day and staying in Millicent, Wellington, Cape Jervis, Kingscote and Im now in Adelaide for a week.Well it is the start of Mega week for me and lets see how I go.I met up with Roaming Howie for the day again (he must be a sucker for punishment) and the main target for the day is LGAs for me and anything else on his list.We found somewhere to park the GeoRanger and off we went in search of this one.We where in the area for another one and noticed this one as well. After a bit of wandering around we soon found the someone was home and we were able to coax them down.We added our names to the log and now to get the next one and the next one and the next one. Thanks Freddo TFTC.

Adelaide and train trip Day 13. Blackwood day 5. After returning from my epic Ghan trip from Darwin I had a few days around Adelaide before heading home. I went into the South Parklands area to get out and see what I could find. There were some that were out of reach with the tools I had, but I managed to find many of the caches I looked for. I even made it a little further than I expected. They day ended with a trip to the Northern suburbs to try for a cache that was recently replaced. It was a reward day for dinner, so I retired to Mitcham for a favorite pizza. I have had this cache on my radar for some time as it will complete my next lap of the D/T grid, lap 21. I was really happy that despite all the trees, I soon located the cache and was able to deploy the tool and retrieve it to be signed. Thanks for the cache Freddo44738.14 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2012 Compass Rose Cape of Good Hope A#248**Albida**

In order to get this cache down, I first extended the pole vertically to the estimated height.

Wondering how high the cache was, I then put the pole flat on the ground and measured it.

But that didn't help me, I need height not length. Wink

Well, this is my second find with my new 10m pole, but my first with this D/T rating.Had more trouble replacing the cache as the hook stayed up around the dead branch that the cache was on.
Thanks, Freddo, the Chocolate Frog for the cache. Nice location and no pesky muggles to contend with.

01-May-23
Today I joined pineapplegoldy to find some caches near CBD, especially some require special tools.

We signed the log book, and placed the cache back.

I am chasing as many D/T spots as I can while borrowing unssy's pole for the month, I messaged I&J who met me for a little tree fishing.

After a little catch up we made a quick find, quick retrieval, quick sign and quick return.

A very cool cache indeed. All is well here.

Thanks Freddo for this cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 3041 on the 1st of May 2023.

CITO's are a brilliant way to help keep our community area's clean. The Earth is our playing field and we need to protect it!

Always be sure to cache the "leave no trace" way!

Well I found it…. If spotting it counts? Think I need to do some research about TOTTs that can be carted around on a bike.

07-Apr-23
Decided today would be a good day to hit a few of the cities caches with expected lower muggles about on good friday, after catching up with Mattycat at a nearby earthcache we moved onto some more challenging caches requiring a TOTT or two including this one, only a log book at home today we left our calling card before heading off to our next challenge

Hit the big smoke on a quiet day with Froghoppin to tidy up the edges of town.

Found your bird. Tasted like chicken Wink

(Actually his little home is ageing a bit and it's weird fishing for birds...)

Thanks for the cache placement and maintenance Freddo . Cool

--------------------------------------

Cache carefully out there,
it's a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and objects falling from trees Surprised
...... but a cache a day still keeps the boredom away Wink

--------

Most of our caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids.
No apples or other fruit needed Big Grin An apple a day doesn't keep the doctor away, we've tried that Razz

----------
Make sure that Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Wink (Covid cancels caching!)
Keep a safe distance - clean and cache the countryside Big Grin

It's awesome of all those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas,
in sensible safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting Cool

Of course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Wink Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!!

Big Grin [:o)] Wink

I’m visiting South Oz from Townsville for about a week. I’ve a few targets on my list and this more than likely was one of them.
This run sees me picking up one or two of the On ya Bike Series. Probably bitten off more than I can chew but will see how I go.
Now that’s done I’m likely going after some challenges and whatever else takes my fancy
The SFE was always on the radar regardless of the terrain, although I didn’t bring a rope or harness with me on the trail
After completing the Adelaide hills section of the SFE bar the three power cacher trek, One full bike 1 - 100 plus a multitude of nice DT’s and even a full wherigo loop thanks to a round the world in 81 days addition I ended up 1 short of a full DT colour change. After starting from 8 loops, this one tick over to 11.

Thanks again Freddo for placing this Traditional for my caching enjoyment.

We had the TOTT on board so after our appointments today we parked nearby and walked over to GZ. Mr McLookers spied the cache, we deployed the TOTT and hauled the cache down, signed the log and replaced. Thanks for the fun Freddo.

Having a quiet caching day today compared with yesterday's effort.

Caught up with Cheezel1961 and did some targeted caches close to the city.

This being one of them.

Once we sorted how we would access this one, we had a steep, but fairly short walk to GZ.
Once at GZ, we had a quick look around and soon spotted the golden egg. Perhaps not so golden any more, but nonetheless a good prize.
Up the tree went Mrs Domsky, and soon had our name in the log. The O-ring is missing from the bison, and the log sheet was a little wet, however, we were still able to sign our name.
Thanks HillStSmashBros

started the day by collecting this one, we parked the car near by and met nearly every dog in the park on the way to GZ. After deploying our ToTT eased the cache from its hide. Thanks for the great hide

Muggle65 and l headed out to this one hoping we would find it. Log was signed. Thank you for the fun

Out after work targeting a couple of caches necessitating ‘tree fishing’. I’ll admit it, loving this aspect of Geocaching and looking forward to more of then
A quick find here, retrieval, sign and return …… and gets a favourite point from me

I suspect the CO has replaced this where it's meant to be. Took a while to find, then I just stared in disbelief, then checked the attributes. Smile
Note to beginner self - read attributes before setting out!
I think a few who came before me got a really, really lucky break!
I'll be back, with some TOTT and some assistance!

Today we teamed up with gooseandegg, stainless-steel-rat and Budgietas to do some caches around Adelaide of different types and this was one of them.

We signed the logs as Team Tasmania, cache and contents were good.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Another year, another Victorian Mega, so where do we fly into, Adelaide like you do, after a few days in the city we ventured out into the wilds of SA before heading Northeast towards the border (You remember the name of the town, don't you?) before crossing over we teamed up with Tassie Trekkers and we all finished off the OYB series.
Our attempts at a few caches as we moved South that were near rivers were as half expected we were thwarted by floods so we didn't get to those but added the odd on in here and there.

At long last we arrived in Whittlesea for the Mega late in the evening of Friday 11th and after a quick event headed to our accommodation for the next few days. While in the area we explored the area finding caches all over the place and we even got to meet up with our Victorian ex Tassie cacher 1Toolman who traveled up from down South to join us for the day

Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache.

Found this cache while out caching with Tassie trekkers. Goosenegg and stainless steel rat.
First full day in Adelaide, and we worked our way through some caches we had predetermined to do

Thank you for the cache.

All caches stamped with "Team Tassie"

November 2022 was planned as a trip to the Mega in Melbourne, so we flew from Hobart to Adelaide to find quite a few caches that we had missed last time. Some great caches were found, but the planned boat trip was canceled due to the weather. No matter the showers we found quite a few caches on the trip (Around 600) including a number with high Terrian values.

The drive-through down the Murray river on the NSW / Victoria border showed the impacts of the current floods. A number of caches planned were canceled due to the flooding. Unfortunately, many of these caches will have been lost to the flood. The Mega, as per the whole week, was on and off a wet time, even so a number of caches were still found with Goosenegg, Stainless Steel Rat, Whitewebbs and Tassie Trekkers

We walked from another cache with the TOTT for that one but not the one required here (communication error - my bad). Mr TT was dispatched to rectify that. Mrs TT found something else to do nearby and the rest of us stood around battling the mosquitoes.
A quick retrieval once we were all back together.
Thanks Freddo

We arranged to catch up with Tassie Trekkers, who have been over here for a while, to do some caching around Adelaide and surrounds. The weather was typically Tasmanian, four seasons in one day with some flash flooding thrown in!

It’s become a tradition to fly to a Mega via somewhere else so Stainless steel rat, budgietas and I flew from Hobart to Adelaide a week before the big event and, after a few days around the city, worked our way up along the Murray (where we could due to flooding) via Waikerie, Mildura, Swan Reach and Echuca before heading down through Shepparton to Whittlesea where we caught up, and cached with, a few other teams including Whitewebbs, 1toolman and icybeetas.
Thanks for all the caches.

Found quickly and rather low... Replaced at a suitable height for the D/T rating. TFTC!

Quick find at head height, we replaced a little higher - requiring a tool, but nothing ridiculous - hope this is OK with the CO! TFTC

On a beautiful day for a walk today, we decided to put our recently converted tool to the test, and out of all of the nearby caches requiring it, this was the place where we finally had success Smile Retrieved and replaced in the spot it was found. TNLNSL TFTC

Thus was exceptionally straightforward as we only had to extend half our pole to retrieve the cache. The outer container is a bit damaged from a fall or falls but the log is in good condition. Thanks Freddo for the cache.
