Out walking the promenade to grab the AdLabs and continued to make this find.Amazing how the earthquake dealt to what I assume used to be a pinnacle.Did a clamber. Sidled around and made the find in about the third place I looked.TFTC, it was fun.
unfortunately a seal was guarding the spot. beautiful location. worth the trip. just be aware wildlife might be here
Found this evening while on a sunset walk of the beach. Studying abroad this semester at U Canterbury and love being this close to the beach. Cache is in great shape and was a quick find with the hint. Thanks!
Spent about an hour there partially cuz I am a new catcher. Was a pretty cool hiding spot and I guess luck helps to find this one cuz there are sooo many loose rocks. Had lots of fun taking advantage of the sunny day 27/07/24 TFTC
On uni holiday up in chch from Dunedin thought wed take a trip out to Sumner for a drive. Lovely spot here and view. TFTC Kingy
Definitely there! Was in the area and had a look, even though I have found it before.
The cache has been replaced where it was previously - just tucked in well. Please take care when finding the cache, and replace it covered well with rocks. More information in the updated description and hint. Cheers,
Alas, it seems to have gone amiss. We are currently away but will fix and replace it by the end of January. Cheers,Dracophyllum.
Not found after a long thorough search. Last found 3 months ago. Im just wondering if it is still there
It took longer than it should have, given the clue. Great hiding spot once we found it but frustrating before that!!! Fun for the kids to climb around the rocks too.
Ms_KR, OP44 and I are off on a wee drive to Lyttelton for dinner. We took the long road back home via Sumner, and I noticed that the tide was low and getting lower, so we took the opportunity, parked up and made a nice quick find after clambering over a few boulders. Thanks for placing your cache.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

On the way home from Arbour Piazza in Lyttelton with OP44. Not intending to stop for anything, when KR says let's get this one. Me in best shoes thinks this isn't going to work for some of us! Actually perfect timing for dry feet. Thanks Dracophyllum.
Great view! Had been before but at high tide so couldn’t reach. Better timing with the tides today
Climbed up and had a look around without success. Just didn't want to do to much climbing around solo.
#21461. We wanted a couple of finds today. Troodles was keen to look for a recently-solved D/T, which meant we were passing this cache. It seemed like a good time to try to avenge our DNF here en route to the D/T cache. The tide was low, and it was a chilly overcast day, which meant we had no trouble finding a park near the surf club. After our DNF last time I realised I had been looking on the wrong side of the rock, so was hopeful I'd track the cache down this time now that I had a better idea of where to look.
On our last visit there was a lot of sand around the rock, and it looked like you could get to it with dry feet for quite some time either side of low tide. It was a different story today. Even at low time there was a moat around most of the rock, with just a narrow strip of sand that enabled us to keep out feet dry. Even though I had a better idea of where to search, it still took a few passes before I spotted the nicely hidden cache. It didn't help that there was a kid right on top of the rock (I was a bit nervous about being hit by a falling rock, but thankfully none came down). A great placement. TFTC.

We had looked for this cache a while ago without luck, and today, with low tide at about midday, seemed like a good day for another attempt.
It was bitterly cold, with a nor'easter wind not only reducing the temps more, but also blowing the water towards the rock, which was looking like a castle with a surrounding moat. Luckily there was a little sliver of a "bridge" to keep the feet dry. As luck would have it, a young boy also decided to climb the rock at the same time, right to the top. I was surprised at the numbers of hardy people out and about on the beach.
Not an instant find, but StreetWalkerNZ stuck at it, and the amended hint was certainly helpful. Good to avenge a DNF, though we failed to find 2 out of the 3 other caches looked for today . TFTC.

Good find, tricky climb for me but son had fun! Have the trackable & will relocate soon
Went for a bit of a walk on the beach today and quickly climbed up and got this one, in sandles. Dropped off a trackable aswell.
A long day out for SullyMum and the two boys. A drive across the port hills from Gebbies Pass to Sumner beach, with a lunch stop in Lyttelton. 13 Caches and an Adventure Lab, probably makes it the most productive day we’ve had in a while (if ever). Waiting for SullyDad to get home from his summer in Antarctica - due to land back in Chch in the middle of the night.
James happily did the climb to retrieve this.

After several DNFs at last we found it. A busy day at the beach but it was quiet around the rocks. Glad to have got this one off our list. TFTC
Looked for this one whilst completing the nearby Adventure Lab cache(s). Wasn’t sure how easy it would be to find. Searched a few spots before locating it. Hoping there wouldn’t be another earthquake at the time which would throw a few more rocks around! Sadly Shag Rock is only a shadow of its former self. #4348. TFTC.
The tide was well out so we were able to do a few laps of the rock at ground level and scope out potential hiding places. Mr B clambered up to check out a couple of them and found the box in the second place he looked. TFTC.
Got he tide right today which made a quick find and brought some sunshine on a rather gloomy day. TFTH
Nice Saturday out. A lady told us off and said it was dangerous to go on the rocks, as they were still unsettled. We still did. It was an easy find. No rocks fell on us. thanks for placing this here, it is impressive to the earthquake damage.
On the fifth attempt thanks to the updated hint. No pen so will sign tomorrow but have sent photo to CO! Tftc

Finally a day where all things aligned for me to find this cache - good weather, free time, low tide. Went on an afternoon bike ride and 2nd stop was Shag rock.
I had actually thought about this before - how come there is no cache here. Was even contemplating hiding one myself but that's the way it always is with me - I contemplate about hiding a cache somewhere for a couple of years and then someone else comes and does it
I timed my visit with the low point of the low tide, so it was all easy to climb up from all the sides. But even when I was passing by on my way home, which was almost 2 hours later, it still looked very much accessible with dry feet.
Awesome views, and a nifty hide. Good that there was an explicit hint!
Kia ora! Paldies!

Visiting the area and looked to see if there were any geocaches around. Lovely day for a climb. Happy to find this one easily after others had trouble. Cache in great condition. Tftc.
We have checked the cache again today after the recent did not find. We can report that the cache has not moved, and is still in its original hiding spot. It has never ever had to be replaced since its creation
Thanks
Thanks
Checked cache today, super low tide around here today, cache is all good, thanks
Hmmm, not sure this is a mere 2 terrain. After climbing part way up, I decided not to risk going any higher.
Low tide, in the area, so, why not. And no seals, plus no pen, so photo sent to cache owner as proof, tftc.
Was a seal sitting on the area a suspect the clue is alluding too! We weren't going uo there today!
We spent a bit of time fossicking up and down but persistace paid of with Little Horrible doing the honours today..TFTH
Down from Northland for a one week trip to Christchurch to pick up some solved puzzles, challenges, unusual cache types, Jasmer grid fillers, as well as a few others in passing.
Time for a few around the Sumner area this morning. Luckily the tide was out, so accessing this rock was no problem. Identifying the likely hiding spot was more difficult and there were just too many possibilities for this old non climber, so after 4 or 5 minutes, decided to flag this one. Thx anyway

It took a wee while to going up and down and around but finally found it, just like the hint said. Doh. Enjoyed watching the little sail boats having a race across the channel below, quite amusing. Cheers
Came to check today after recent DNFs but it is still in the same place and all intact .....
Finally struck the tide right! Thought we had the correct hint items but no luck despite an extensive search. Wait to see if anyone else comes up with it. Tftc
No luck for me in spite of a good search and a PAF. Great spot, and I only gave up when I noticed the water level rising... I will be back!
Out with coconuts3 this pm to find a smiley and get away from weeds in the garden! This was not a T2, more like a 3! Mrs Coconuts3 said the magic words after a bit of a hunt, there's alot of hint places to choose. Very happy to get this after a slow careful climb. Tide was fine and no seals today. TFTC.
Went out with busy paws to find a cache for our daily challenge. We struck the tide right for us and had no seal company. Very easy to get distracted the views are great. Looked in many spots then saw the amazing seat, which we enjoyed. Then had a further look and oh my I saw the cache. What a great feeling, we agreed to do happy dance when back on the ground lol. Thanks for this cache Dracophyllum.
The more nimble partner ascended first but was unable to locate the cache. So the other more keen-eyed partner gingerly made her way up the rock pile, and soon picked up the stone that was hiding the cache. A beautiful sunny afternoon, and a great day to be out. TFTC!
I was passing after checking out a car for darling daughter and saw the tide was right. Okay, *this* time I'll get it!
Foiled by a couple of angry seals last time (I didn't get close to actual GZ as I was keeping one eye on them). This time I had the pile to myself and spotted something in the second crack I checked. Yes, that's what I'm after, log dry, all good.
DNF avenged!

And Second to log! After more than a year without geofinding, I took my friend WonderCloclo for her first geohunt. Thanks for the Cache, our very first in NewZealand!!
Relatively straight forward find however we managed to lose our pencil on the way up will be back to sign another day
DNF but I have an excuse! I headed up towards where I thought looked good. As I got there Mrs R called out to look out for the seal... just as I spotted him!
He was a wee way below so I still started looking. One more step and I heard a sudden huff/grumble from below - I'd startled his girlfriend (& she returned the favour)!
I kept looking for a bit, but with one eye on the wildlife I couldn't give it the search it needed.
I'll be back when the muggles in the pic have moved on.

A bit of a mission but got there in the end! Picked up Nosynel to find a few today and this is our first one for the day. Tide was good at 3pm. Thanks for the hide. Good fun!

We are at level 2 so geocaching is permitted. So a plan was hatched this afternoon. The tide was right and we found it.
