Out and about today poking around Mt Major. Thanks for placing this cache here for me to find. All good here. Now, onto the next one for the day. TNLN TFTC
Nice and easy, great place for a break and a wonderful view of canola in full bloom!! TFTC!
Shepparton is an area that we often drive through but has never been a destination. This Kings birthday long weekend we made it our destination to tick off some caches in the area
Nice easy find and great views

On a lovely, sunny Sunday afternoon, Rex and I needed a stroll!
Deciding that hydrotherapy[:X][:X] and the osteopath[:X][:X] had improved my capacity to walk[^], enough that I could maybe find the caches on the Northern side of Mt Major[?][?][xx(] that was where we headed[^]
After searching for about an hour, I DNFd the 1st geocache that I looked for at about 5.20pm then I found the last cache that I looked for at about 8pm[|)] By that point we were almost at the very summit but as it was now dark, I decided to head down hill and back to the car and leave the higher unfound cache for another day[^][^]
Especially as I managed to fall while looking for the multi and while it was jarring, I wasn't badly injured[xx(][xx(] which was lucky as of course I fell on some rocks
There was butterflies[:X], owls[:X], sunset in stunning colours[:X], kangaroos[:X], lights off in the distance[:X] and just the sheer beauty of being out in the country at dusk and beyond[:X][^][:X]
A fantastic[:X] way to spend an afternoon/evening[^] and made better by some cool cache hides
We spent quite some time here chatting to a lovely lady who was walking down as we were walking up. She even knew where this geocache was hidden!

Heading after this one ScottyL78 decided he needed a sit down for a bit.
Opens his phone to discover that we are at GZ.
Beautiful views from up here, despite the fact I couldn't feel my ears.

Wow! Aren’t the views just amazing. Imagine the view when the canola are in full bloom. I’ll have to come back to see this.
A nice place for someone to rest

With the rest of the family in Sydney and a busy few weeks coming up at work I decided last week to have a day off to go caching. Looked at the map and initially thought about Shepparton but then saw an intriguing collection at Mount Major so that became my target. Picked what would be a sunny day (was raining when I left Albury but was fine most of the day - though very windy). In the end a successful day with 26 caches found and one DNF. Turned out to be a Team BGF day.
Past the two local teens as they were heading down as I approached this cache. At GZ knew what I needed to do and as I creaked Fien the cache was spotted on the first spot I searched. All good with this one - another nice design.

Lucky to have a few days by the river at Yarrawonga, today our GPS'r headed us toward Shepparton in search of a few caches, we only got as far as "The Major" before we were surrounded by hidden treasure. We were right into the walking now! Great views.
Thanks Team BGF for placing caches in such interesting locations.

Walking around this great part of the world was a pleasure. The weather today was quite warm for Easter. My thanks goes to to my host dalerious, and the cache owners for providing and maintaining these caches. A fun day in more ways than one, and one Easter that l will never forget. Cache found in good condition.
#17469. It has been a while since I have been out caching and today Robmc, Howjen567 and I made an attack on Mount Major. Rob and Howard had done some of these back on 6th July but this was my first time here. We arrived at the carpark at 9.30am and were back again in 4 hours and 20 minutes. This included a few long side treks and a decent lunch break at the top. We were the only ones here today which surprised me as most people have had to contend with many walking muggles. Fortunately I had a walking pole but even so I found the downhill back to the car rather difficult. Walking is most definitely not a favourite sport for me. Give me a bike any day.
After collecting clues at signs along the way it was good to have a rest at this seating platform. I was still trying to get my QR code thing working but in the end that never happened - thanks Telstra. Most annoying. Anyhow back to this one and I soon had the cache to hand and my name in the log book. A great place to take in the wonderful views and see how far away my poor Sylvie Subaru was............ Time to continue on up the hill.
Thanks Team BGF

An afternoon's outing on the way home from a long weekend in Shepparton with the intention to find all the caches on Mt Major. We really enjoyed the walk up and back, dodging the weeds and long grass to find caches, saw a few kangaroos and heaps of watching mugglers on top aka sheep. Very busy walking track and new erected signposts were clear.
Didn't need the rest and didn't need the flies sitting on us either. Great views though. TFTC

I remember seeing a few of these get published a few months back and thinking I’d like to get over to check out the area at some stage. Then lockdown 2.0 happened and I forgot about them.
After collecting a number of the wonders of the world souvenir challenge tokens recently I then discovered the final two I needed happened to be on the Mt Major series. I spoke to the wife and we hatched a plan. Today wasn’t supposed to be to wet or cold so we set out from Wangaratta just before lunch.
We ate lunch in the car park before setting off up the hill at 12:18pm. I hadn’t even counted the caches up there, we mostly wanted to just get outside in the fresh air. As we went along I picked up a few here and there, of course directing the journey by where the next WP was.
Number 3 on the journey up after over shooting the last year and deciding to pick it up in the way back to the car. GZ is a good spot to sit for a rest. Found at 12:50pm

What a stunning winters day to make the most of the last gasp of mask free/optional hiking.
I was not the only one with this Idea. The Base Camp car park was full by the time I got back down. [:o]
I'm glad I found this one on the way up as on my return journey I found a very puffed, heavy set muggle taking an extended breather at GZ. Her hubby was further ahead hoping to reach the summit but this was as far as she was going and not moving until his return. [xx(]
She was happy though as she had a camera and a magnificent view. [^]

Although Marli was keen to find this one Ben beat her to the punch. Nice hide, happy for the rest. TFTC
Nowhere near sunset, but a good place to stop and take in the view and have a seat for a moment. Mr Harrowang was glad to divest himself of the gear he was carrying and sort out a new plan of action. SL at 12.17pm Left: a gold eagle PT to enjoy the sunset for a day or three. #7080 TFTC Team BGF - enjoying the sunny day with no wind, and a distinct lack of muggles to have to share the track with.
Quick easy find. Great day up on Mt Major. Blue sky and small birds everywhere. TFTC
After driving out of the pea soup fog in Wang, I arrived at howjen567's house in brilliant sunshine!
We set off for the Major Walk series, and joined the hordes walking up the new track. Not sure where all these muggles came from, but there was plenty of room on the track for us all.
Fantastic views from the top across to Mt Buller and Bogong, both snow capped (and Wang still in fog!)
The series (as it is atm) took us about 3 hours to complete, including lunch at the top.
Fortunately, it was still long before sunset when we arrived here.
Did like the colours of the cache though.
Starting to get good views back towards the town.
Thanks, Robmc.
