A great day out caching around Myponga today with naughtybunny. Of course we had to do a few along the way. This was one of many for today and we really enjoyed driving and walking around this area, especially around this reservoir. We were a bit worried about how to get to GZ as there was a big creek between us. Had a look from the road and was happy to see the path which lead straight to it. Cache was found after a short search. Thanks for bringing us here. TNLN. Cheers.

The usual Wednesday Wander for members of Befuddled Puzzle solving group had us heading southwards once again but instead of solved puzzles we were in search of caches along walks. Surprised Today it was myself, Blackadders and Anymules. [:o)] Meeting at Myponga we zigzagged everywhere in search of caches. Cool By the end of the day we had found a few but the legs were feeling it. Big Grin

The last time I was here doing this trail this cache was underwater! Surprised Today there were new co-ords and I was able to access it easily and soon had the cache in hand. Smile Now to walk around again we these guys tot eh ones I had already found. Razz Seems to be a few less now. [^]

***Thanks JJ52 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

Another Wednesday wander of the Befuddled group with the Starfish, Adder and a Mule. The Rat was not able to join us.
Todays target area as down south around the Myponga area where a couple of high terrain hides were sought.

As always, all caches were visted and signed by all members of the group or each member had a part to play in retrieving the prize.

All caches were in good condition unless noted otherwise.

A pleasant stroll around the reserve under the watchful eyes of the pouncing locals and thier joeys.

Thank you for the cache %Cachename JJ52, found 11/05/2022

A lovely day grabbing a few caches around the Myponga area.
A beautiful walk to this one and a nice, empty log sheet for us to sign.

Many thanks for the hide JJ52….a favourite point on it’s way

It appears that the cache floated away when the water rose. Sad
Have replaced with a similar container which hopefully will stay in place.
All good to go again. Smile

Everything is dry now but no sign of the cache:(

well unless you bring snorkelling gear you can't get to gz. Like azzo7777 stated the path is currently under water from about 60 meters from gz

We didn't really attempt this one as I didn't want to get wet feet Sad

Out for a days caching down south with Freddo.

An early start meant a relatively early finish.

Freddo hadn't found this one as it was under water last time he was here. No water today.

Clever cache found. This time the area is not under water. Almost a driveby now that the new track is open.

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

The cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

Easter 2020 was supposed to see South Australia Geocaching hosting the next Easter big MEGA event, GeoVenture 2020 at Millicent. GC82DAN. Due to COVID restrictions the event is now postponed to early October 2021. Check out the event page and our website for new details. We would love to see you at this four day event. Mega event sponsored by Wattle Range Council, Geocaching.com and many other supporters. Lots of caches to find with two classic geo art trails including the famous animated bottle and glass.

This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and a Samsung S8. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs...

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

S 35° 23.594 E 138° 27.336

Coordinates changed to:
S 35° 23.627 E 138° 27.339

Distance from original: 201.4 feet or 61.4 meters.

Original hide was waterlogged so have now found another spot that will be above the water level.

03-Apr-21
New cache has been placed in a new hide this time above water level. Same cache container and hide. All good to go again. Big Grin

27-Feb-21
New cache has been constructed but with all the new works happening in the reserve I am leaving this one disabled until all the construction is completed and the tracks opened again.

27-Jan-21
When I placed this cache here the water level was well back, but over winter the levels rose and flooded the hide. Even though GZ is dry now, the paths have been temporarily closed so I have found another hide a bit further inland. I just need to construct a new cache container. Will be back online soon. Big Grin

18-Jan-21
This may or may not need maintenance but the two loop tracks leading to it are both closed and so it should be taken off line for a while until the water levels abates a little. Surprised Pictures speak a thousand words so check them out. Big GrinWink

Heading down to stay at Myponga for a couple of nights to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Razz So some sightseeing planned and maybe pick up a few caches here and there. Wink I even managed to find two previous DNFs but as it sometimes goes added another to the list. Twisted

Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. Twisted So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers to single digits. Cool That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]

***Thanks JJ52 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

It appears this one is not accessible at the moment and I think it might need to be relocated. Will get down there in the next couple of weeks.

12-Jan-21
Think it's gone:( searched everywhere but no success

It's still underwater

04-Oct-20
Site underwater. Waded our to where it should be but then read that some interfering person has moved it. Why move a geocache???

26-Sep-20
Epic fail you pwned us n00bs... You are only as good as your next find. TOTT in the car is a bicycle. Not what I needed here. Will return with waders.

Perhaps this URL might be your friend. https://www.sawater.com.au/water-and-the-environment/south-australias-water-sources/reservoir-data/myponga-reservoir.

Level today was 95%. Probably needs to be less than 90%.

19-Sep-20
Location is currently under water. Decided not to venture any further.

07-Sep-20
Now that was fun! Successfully waded out to the cache and found it underwater, well hidden. Opened it up and the log was perfectly dry! Placed the cache out of the water, and phoned the CO but was unable to get through.
