I unlike many, Bee loves doing jigsaw puzzles so this was a great on for her. Stayed in Charters Towers last night and will do some caching before heading further north to Wallaman Falls.*The generic bit for this trip*We are on our way north for warmer weather. From Victoria to Cooktown, weaving inland and to the coast, caching as we go. No real plans, just taking each day as it comes and enjoying the adventure in our converted ambulance. Thanks to all COs for placing and maintaining caches for our enjoyment.
Council have announced the Weir boat ramp will open this weekend, 1st June. They seemed to have abandoned the signage at the town end of Weir Road this year.
Took me about two hours but in the end found it feels like a big weight is off my back LOL
This cache is fine but be advised that the Weir Boat Ramp in Dave Chapman Park was closed for the wet season on 2nd Dec, give it until Easter........ note the signs on the side of Weir Road near this cache.
12781 Located by baby&Mrs gopher 1405. Solved the mystery last evening to make the find today, Saw the sawn branches and that made us a little nervous but all ok, SL Tnx Cachedin NQ
Next on my 'solved mysteries' journey around town before the trip down to the coast. Another quick find at 10:30 and it was onwards and eastwards.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Cachedin NQ.

Tree lopping contractors have been through removing the low branches? at the final. Found cache on the ground and replaced at waist height, altered puzzle completing message fractionally. Log 3/4 full but space on the reverse for a while longer.
Apologies for the late log here (26.12.23) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.No problems solving this - that I recall - and once at GZ, a QEF. Lovely. I appreciate the ones that don't put up too much of a fight.TNLN-TFTC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
This cache is available, but please be aware that the boat ramp park off Weir Rd is currently closed due to wet season flooding.
29/8/22 Heading back Mackay direction and grabbing some caches along the way. TFTC SL

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 79. Charters Towers Day 2. Today was supposed to be a shorter day doing the remaining caches around town I could get to. It turned unto a marathon of long multis zig zaging all over town with a dash way out to the south for one final location. I then had to out wait a ground staff person so I could make a dramatic climb to my last cache of the day. Lots of success, but it all took so much longer than expected.
This was a puzzle solved before the mega, but I did not have enough time to get it back in April. Today it was a drive by before getting on with some of the multis.
Thanks for the cache Cachedin NQ

Checked on this cache and the container is good, log has 1/4 remaining on the back side.
Today we were driving further afield, doing the TTHS series of caches, and then a few wider out on the return trip.
Thanks Cachedin NQ for the caches.

Another puzzle, another hide. We found this one on a quiet drizzly Anzac Day afternoon.
Thanks Cachedin NQ. Your puzzles and hides have kept us well-entertained on this wet day.

We decided to start caching a little bit earlier than usual - best decision ever as it started showering later in the morning and then it just rained all afternoon.
We completed the tribe series as well as many other interesting caches north of Charters Towers.
Thanks to the CO's for placing these caches.

Out and about today caching along this road and finding a number of caches. The weather looks like it will rain later on, so we need to find them quickly. Found the cache and then moed onto the next one. TFTC
TFTC. Today we were leaving Townsville after a week enjoying the Mega and caching. We planned to head back to Maryborough via Charters Towers and Emerald. We joined up with Richmond Lad and JooJoo57 to cache our way to Charters Towers with a detour to Ravenswood. A successful day with 30 finds and one DNF.
Poor planning had this one a little too far down the list and we drove past it on the way out to the weir. Thankfully, the icon was spotted on th SatNav on the return journey, so Ghostgums and I took a very small detour and picked it up. A nice quick and easy find at GZ, I never got chance to get out of the car.
Cheers Cachedin NQ.

Found as part of the Qld Cache mega event weekend in Townsville over Easter 2022. Joined forces with Gunnie69 after flying up from Brisbane to tackle a variety of caches around the Townsville area including three GeoArt series, other puzzles and a few labs! I would like to thank all the cache owners who are making this an enjoyable weekend!
Today we trekked out along the Flinders Highway to the historical town of Charters Towers. Enjoyed some of the sights, old buildings, occasional wildlife and of course lunch at a local pub!
A smiley has been added to the cache!

Heading out to the weir for a new virtual, so I grabbed this on the way past.

Day 7 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
The long awaited day we drive into Townsville! We did a bit of caching around Charters Towers before leaving. Definitely some great caching there and some good Adventure Labs worth doing. A simple drive to Townsville: we are all happy to finally be here. The kids were very glad to have a quick dip in the pool at the Motel before some rest before all things Mega kicking off tomorrow.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. I did this puzzle. Took a while but was satisfying.

27,557. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 7 of our Townsville Trek, and we cached our way around Charters Towers again during the morning, before doing the short journey to Townsville for the main event (literally !). A couple of neat Adventure Labs were completed, as well as their bonus caches (one a real doozy) plus some other must do caches along the way. This cache we really wanted to find after minniek did the hard yards on the puzzle. A quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.
Thanks Cachedin NQ !!

It’s Mega time once again!! Woo hoo!! Love these epic road trips. This time the plan is Canberra to Narromine to Cunnamulla to Blackall, a detour via Winton and then swinging back to Charters Towers before the main event in Townsville. Will see if the April rains and flooding detour us! Thanks to everyone who placed and maintained all these caches that enabled us to have a wonderful holiday! Thanks for the cache.
#13928 - 1:10:00 PM; Day eight of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Made it through to Townsville last night and headed out to Charters Towers to try our hand at the variety of cache types in the area today. Managed 30 finds for the day on the way to and from and around the town in Charters Towers, with one DNF. Cache types we found included Adventure Labs, Letterbox Hybrids, Trads, Multis, Unknown (Puzzle), Wherigos, a virtual and an earthcache. All caches were found in good order unless noted in the log and where required each has been signed L.L10n & Sdl or vice versa. Apologies for the largely generic logs [:o)] TFTC Cachedin NQ
Day 8 of the road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today it was a drive from Townsville out to Charters Towers.
A quieter day than others on the trip, but that was due to the different types. Puzzles, WIG's and Multi's were the order of the day. A couple of trads of course as went right past them....and we couldn't leave them could we?
Left CT around 2.30 and head for Cardwell to help fill in a few counties up towards Carins and the Tablelands. All up, another great day.
Thanks to all the CO's for the caches....they all help to make the trip a good time.

I had decided that today would be a trip to Charters Towers to collect a few types for the day, dragged my mum out and put the invite out to chamad as well which he accepted. With no real plans we found ourselves collecting everything on our way leaving a swathe of smiles behind us.
Solved this the night before in preparation so it was a should collect for the day and it was.

I do love spending time in Charters Towers. I have family connections and have visited many times over the years. I now know it is also a fabulous place to go caching. We stayed over night and managed to get a few hours of caching in today before heading to Townsville. We certainly found some very entertaining caches but left plenty for next time. Thanks for the fun day.
I was invited on an early morning drive with Sheridan (from Jacs Team) and Vic (from Waz and Vic) for some caches in the Charters Towers area. We had no set plans, just a few on a wish list and a few we both had solved. It was again another fun day with these two ladies. I like caching with these two, the simplicity in our caching day, the stories, the banter and the laughs were just all day; nothing is a problem, thank you.
We collected some nice caches and a very different adventure lab on the way in from Townsville, we even left a fun little multi for our return home. The day saw us collecting a whereigo, some trads, a couple of old caches, some nice D/T caches. There was a virtual and a couple of puzzles, some more adventure labs, a bite to eat and a stop off to collect some Shinny little disc thingies. An absolute great day. All logs were signed with the three names and all caches replaced as found.
Thanks to all the CO’s for the hides.

Like all geocachers, I’m taking the scenic, slow route to Townsville. Along the way we detoured for, amongst many others, this geocache.

One of many jigsaws solved for the Townsville Mega roadtrip. And I love jigsaws. Found the cache in the first place I looked. That's right.... I looked... MrG was kickin' back in the car's air con. TFTC Cachedin NQ.
This cache is accessible but please note the council has closed Weir park boat ramp due to upstream rainfall.
Staying in Charters Towers for a few days. Next, I headed to this solved puzzle. This cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC
A nice straight forward find.
After a great campfire meal last night at the van park we are staying at, and an even better nights sleep, we have set out to find the caches around the weir. Just a quick deviation at the local market where we picked up a homemade apple pie, fruitcake and some hedgehog and we were on our way. What a lovely community Charters Towers has, and some fantastic spots to visit and history to learn about.
We would like to thank all of the local CO’s for putting out all the caches we have found. We read only a few days ago that while the numbers of people who are geocaching is growing, the number hiding caches is actually falling. So as we regularly say, the CO’s are the most important part of the geocaching world. Without you we would have nothing. You have our sincere appreciation.

Just 17 finds today. We have almost come to the end of our stay in Charters Towers. Last night we had a great "catch up" with the locals. Today we thought it would be nice to attempt the local power trail and then head out to the weir. We got side tracked on our way back and logged a couple more.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache pretty close to where the GPS said he should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards

Great cache puzzle and hide. Grabbed along our travels in this great country. TFTC Cachedin NQ.
After a long day of grabbing some caches around town I headed back to my accommodation and decided to do this jigsaw that I saw when I got to town. Once complete I decided that, 'just one more', for the day was needed so I headed off on an afternoon stroll to GZ for a quick find.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

I love a jigsaw. Jigsaw puzzles kept me sane during the long Melbourne Covid lockdown in 2020. This jigsaw came together nicely and the cache was found easily.
Please note the nearby signs - the Council have closed the boat ramp at Dave Chapman Park because of upstream rainfall.
Thanks for sharing this one with us. I wish I was more organised and I should have noticed that there was another jigsaw down by the Weir. Next time
Thanks for hiding and giving us a reason to explore this area. Good puzzle and cache hide.
Day 18 of my trip north from Adelaide.
Today was spent caching and sightseeing around Charters Towers. I had picked out the multis, puzzles, wherigos and traditional caches that I was keen to do and picked up a few other opportunistic traditional caches along the way. I also completed the new Lab caches in town.
All in all it was as a very pleasant day, with a cool morning and a relatively mild day, which made things much easier and more enjoyable. In all I managed to find 7 puzzles, 9 multis, 3 wherigos, 13 traditionals and an earthcache for a total of 33 caches for the day (plus the Lab caches). I only had one DNF.
This puzzle was solved before I left Adelaide in preparation for my trip. The cache was a quick find as I headed out to the airport for a look.
Thanks Cachedin NQ for the puzzle and the cache.

For the last 2 days we have covered the four corners of the region.
We have found such a good variety of caches in some incredible locations, this has been a wonderful way to tour the town.

BlackPearl and I were drawn back to the Towers by the influx of new caches 2 years since our last visit.
I don’t like to admit it but I may have slightly enjoyed this puzzle. Makes a nice change from solid colours, rocks or camo of which I am not a fan.
Quick find at GZ despite the camo.
Thanks CachedinNQ.

Was quicker than the ESCO to get the puzzle solved but even with Bumblebee would not have beaten Jilly to the GZ. Stretched BB’s legs today and picked up the smiley. Thanks for the Cache. Did enjoy the jigsaw. Nice Photo
Looks like I’m on top of the catchers leaderboard. 45 minutes I can handle. Glad to see the number of pieces is within the treaty.
Was going to wait to get this new one till my birthday but didn’t want to miss the chance for an *FTF*
