Logs
Out with our caching buddies today exploring the area as we make our way to the Erica pub for Hot Rocks for Lunch. We have stopped here at Moondarra Reservoir a number of times for morning / afternoon tea when we are heading further afield and the place is always pretty much deserted. Today it was no different. After finding three nearby caches we stopped in here to locate a couple more as we still had a bit of time before lunch. Again our caching buddies had previously found this cache so they were spectators. After arriving at GZ and locating the cache Mr Pooky was examining the options available to retrieve the log when he started getting bitten. He was standing on a bullants nest and had disturbed them in their thousands. So while Mr Pooky was doing a dance trying to remove the bullants from his body, it was our caching buddy who started examining the cache with a view to retrieving the log. Whilst the mechanism was a little waterlogged and stuck the men folk eventually managed to extract the log Thanks for placing this cache for us to find on our travels.
Perhaps I was getting too tired, and in need of my lunch, but I couldn't find any sign of this fellow. Thanks anyway grannyapple64. I be back.
We wandered around for quite a while examining likely places until Mr SKI finally located the cache. Then we took a seat and it was a few more minutes before the log was finally signed.
A quick survey of our geocaching map quickly revealed a number of caches in the Moondarra area that we are yet to attempt, so we decided that with cool but dry weather on the cards we would head out today to try out luck.
The plan involved quite a bit of walking along the old Moe - Walhalla railway line. We had heard the top end was much clearer than the lower part so we thought we would try it as well as the caches sprinkled round the Moondarra dam. The rail line was good walking with gentle slopes and the finds quite straightforward and in great condition.
We had some difficulty in locating the correct tracks round Moondarra, so ended up doing more walking.
We are both a bit tired tonight, but enjoyed the walk and picnic lunch at the Moondarra dam.
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache grannygeo64.

Great day to be out grabbing a few caches. This one was a nice easy find. TFTC
This was a fun cache within a cache to find..Au.fait had her hands on this one first.
In the delightful company of Tiz13 this afternoon’s adventure continued with a small group of caches here. We thought that would not take long but we reckoned without the thick bush. We valiantly fought our way up the hill and with the technology being all over the place took quite a while to find. A clever container so a FP here TFTC grannygeo64
We took a bit of a detour today on our way to a family lunch. Our geocaching time was running out so this was our last find for the day. Fortunately we have done a few puzzles like this so we were feeling a bit confident it wouldn’t take long. Several minutes later, with a bit of head scratching we were happy to be signing the log.
We enjoyed finding your caches today. Thanks for bringing us to this interesting bit of history in very quiet surroundings.

Back at Moondarra today and ventured through what is left of this old village .. it is indeed amazing how nature comes back and reclaims the land .. after reading some of the logs I misunderstood what it was I was looking for but when the GPS settled I found a traditional cache hidden in a traditional way .. fortunately my other half knew what to do next and the log was soon in hand and signed .. thanks Grannygeo64 for placing the cache..A favourite point awarded
Tftc grannygeo64. Finally, and at the third attempt, plus help from CO, extracted the log from its container. Pushed, squeezed, prodded and pulled but only after an almost accidental jarring did I prise it open. Ingenious I say. Well done. Now off to get some tadpoles.

It seems like ages since I went caching, in and out of lockdown's and having none in My km radius it seemed like forever, Its hard getting out the house these days with Covid and PTSD I found it hard to get out, I searched the map for an area not to far that was out of the way and My chances of encountering any others was low and it turned out that way when I headed out here, it was good to get out in the bush and out of the hustle and bustle of Warragul, I really enjoyed My time exploring this area as I had never been here before.
This is one of the caches I found today. I had no trouble finding this one and no trouble with the puzzle as I have seen this one several times over the years.
Thanks grannygeo64 for the cache.

A small bush trek and this cache was spotted and extracted, however the fun began. We let each child have a hold and an attempt before the caching kit came out for a bit of assistance. Once completed, we replaced and a little extra camo was added by the youngest in Team Spider....one extra long gum tree stick will DEFINITELY stump the next finder.....good luck, whoever you are. I'll be watching for your tale of woe. TFTC grannygeo64
Number 4 in our trail today with Team Spider… another quick find, but took a bit of work to get the inner-cache holder open. Some careful team work saw victory and the cache was replaced with extra camouflage courtesy of our younger team members
With the sun now up, it was time to take a look at this area, as I didn't know what I was getting into and didn't want to try in the dark. Glad a parking location was mentioned on one of the caches, as I used that location to walk to all the caches in this area.
Hoping you are not watching me, because the sun is up now and as I'm starting to warm up, I'm stripping down. Glad it's a deserted town
A geocache that I could actually walk up and find, is pretty amazing but nothing like the amazement of a field puzzle that I could solve. Luckily I had done this style before as the moisture had it pretty stuck.
Thanks for the cache Granny Geo 64

That was a lot of fiddling! It was swollen because of the rain. Very wet. But luckily still came apart.
Tftc. This is a great place hopefully the rest isn’t creepy.

As I was to head to Albury for work today, I decided to do a slight detour.
After getting a FTF on a cache nearby, I decided and to get this cache as well.

Tftc grannygeo64. Noticed these 4 relatively new caches in one my bush playgrounds so headed out with geohound to nab them all. Parked up at the hall and commenced my run. Dam wall first then back up to the camp, downhill finish back to the car.
Relatively quick find for three of the caches and a no find at the decoy. Will tackle that another day. In fact one of the finds was ridiculously simple because of the direction of approach. A bit of fortune with that one.

5% phone charge left. on our adventure day. Miss 8 found this one for us. A great puzzle. Tftc.
After a little struggle I phoned a friend for hints on opening this one... Thanks kashbound ..
As per our usual MO when we head to the Erica/Thompson Dam area for the day we stop by at Moondarra for morning tea and enjoy sitting in the sun. We were going to have *another* go at finding the other cache nearby (which we failed at, yet again) however first sought out this one. When I spotted the cache container I initially thought it wasn't a cache but it obviously was otherwise I wouldn't be logging it, now would I? It took us a while before we had worked out how to open the *actual* container and I can see why the CO left a small tube of superglue with it which to my embarrassment needed to use to repair it. I trust subsequent cachers will not be as ham-fisted as I was when trying to work out how to open it!
Very clever and I'll be adding it to my growing list of favourites. Kudos to the CO for the effort in making this!

Found on a lovely day checking out the area, not too bad being the second to find for the pair of us, it took a while to open this clever cache but we succeeded with some patience.

This was definitely something I didn't expect that I had to over think this early in the day but I persisted and got to the log signed and replaced...TFTC grannygeo and the headache
