Short Trip Away Day #3 [25/11] of 3Day three of my holidays (and day #3 of 3 for my trip away) saw me leaving the motel early to start the day. I started by heading over to Fyshwick for a couple of caches over there. For nice easy-ish ones. Three in the Fyshwick Forrest and one over in the park next to Maryborough St. After finding those ones, I headed over to Belconnen to find a couple of others and then onto the Mall for lunch. While at the Mall, I also did a game of 10 pin bowling because why not? I got a score of 120. Big Grin Once I finished up in the Mall, I started making my way home. I found the next lot of power trail caches along Dog Trap Rd. I have decided on doing these caches section by section given, I drive past/through here so much. From there, I headed home while finding one more in Binalong before getting home. It was a great weekend away and I quite enjoyed catching up with everyone. TB visit. Some caches were signed as JM. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. Big Grin TFTCs! Big Grin It's nice to get another T5 cache onto my found list. My TOTT was only just tall enough to get up into it. Big Grin

The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time.Today was an early start to attend an event with all the other April fools before heading off to Murrumbateman with a borrowed ladder to attempt some high terrain caches. The afternoon saw us enjoying a fabulous behind the scenes tour of the Deep Space Tracking Station which finished just in time for us to attend the Geobash CITO. A long but enjoyable day. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us and adding to our enjoyment.

More big days of caching as WAC consisting of Lachlan1.77, Leg5, neva2old, Barnzy12 and me. So many caches, so little time. Too many tree climbs for my liking but Im a chicken from way back. Thanks to other cachers for helping supply some of the required tools for the higher terrain caches. Thanks to you (and DARKSIDEDAN) for supplying the bulk of the hides Im finding.

Another massive day with the WA Crew signing WAC. If we arent up trees, we are wading through water or hiking mountains. We are grateful for locals who have shared their TOTT with us. Since we all flew to get to Canberra, it wasnt possible to bring the tools necessary for the high terrain caches. For some of the day we cached with an awesome group signing DG as deaf group; truly a generous and welcoming group. Thanks for your contribution in hiding this cache to make our experience as amazing as its been so far. Please forgive us if the dates are incorrect; we are catching up online logging whenever we find

Unable to spot the cache from down below, I deployed the TOTT and made a straightforward ascent at the most likely spot to reveal the container safe and sound. Thanks for the cache ALL7

Reperio 14:42This was Day 3 of our camping getaway to Yass to go in search for some of the local geocaches, and things got off to a very early start being woken up by some extra enthusiastic 4WDers, so we decided to leave where we were and resume where we left off yesterday. With approximately 150 caches found today, we had an awesome day with only about 10 DNFs, and managed to either replace broken containers or do some log maintenance along the way. Today we came for a drive out to Murrumbateman, and Yass. It was very peaceful on this country road, and with the help of our TOTT, we soon had our name in the log.A beautiful tree. Thanks ALL7 Domsky

12-Mar-23
Picked up from home late morning for an outing around Murrumbateman with a small group of friends. We were mostly targeting the harder higher caches that are better to retrieve in the drier weather.

There was a group of four caches, all in a row, that none of us could find but as they were recently replaced by the CO and her friends then we assumed that they were just too cleverly placed for us to locate them.

A quick high climb to find a new cache/log. TFTC ALL7.

21-Jan-23
Out and about with FFLL#1 and ALL7 to pick up some countryside caches. Was nice weather today and we managed to get our names in all the caches we attempted. There were a couple we didnt attempt due to their placements but thats all good. Logs signed as FAR (FurfacesLL, ALL7 and Rapidlywild) for those which we all needed, otherwise it was individual names.

No issues with this one, signed and replaced as found.

Thanks for the cache placement ALL7 and thanks for a nice day out FFLL and ALL7.

Arrived at GZ with keen eyes but couldn’t spot anything. Brought the TOTT out to help with our search, I climbed up first to see if I could spot anything and then Turtle did both of us couldn’t spot anything. The obvious spots (at least to us) were less than fruitful

DNF for this one, We looked at all the likely spots you would/could hide a cache around near GZ, also looked at previous logs for any hints. . ALL7.

This weekend from 17-21/06/2021, I joined georode and gridge98 in visiting our nation's capital, Canberra for geocaching adventures. We prioritised the higher difficulty-terrain combinations, as well as the more special/unique cache types.
On Thursday, I largely spent the day solo and visited Black Hill lookout, the Botanic Gardens, Australian National University and nearby Canberra Central, and then gridge98 and I walked around the front of Parliament area in Parkes.
Friday was spent completing a few hikes in Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve and Kowen Escarpment Nature Reserve, before then meeting locals at a Friday evening dinner event.
Saturday was predominantly the UFO series in Bullen Range Conservation Reserve, targeting the higher terrain ridge area.
On Sunday, we arose to the morning's CITO event, before returning to Goorooyarroo Reserve for more walking around those hills.
Finally on Monday, gridge98 and I headed north to Yass for the Birds of Australia Wherigo series, a few climbing caches, and returning to ACT completing the UGC series.

Today, it was an early day losing georode returning to Queensland, but otherwise, gridge98 and I headed north to Yass. We visited a few spots and completed the *Dark Past* Adventure Lab, before commencing north with a few *By request* geocaches, and then the *Birds of Australia* Wherigo series intermixed with the *Challenge Cache* series.
Following a bakery lunch, we returned via a few attractive D/T *Dragonstone* geocaches, to then complete the University of Geocaching Canberra (UGC) series. Our final stop of the day was Mount Painter finding Canberra's oldest geocache, *Canberra Nature Park*. We then made the dash to the airport to formally end our trip to our nation's capital.

This was one of only a few of the Dragonstone caches that we stopped at, attracted by its difficulty-terrain rating. After stopping and looking on, we soon deployed the TOTT, and ascended to find the geocache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks ALL7 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Today Davidwazza and I headed to Yass for the wherigo series, and stopped by this one for a quick and easy find

This weekend I headed to Canberra with Davidwazza and Georode after being asked a month or so ago if I would like to join them for 4 days, planning occurred and a list of 110 targets were chosen consisting of DTs, oldies and special cache types.

Day 1, I arrived in the evening and headed out with David Wazza for a few hours before georodes arrival, we headed to capital hill to find some random caches in the freezing cold.

Day 2, we set off early in the morning for a half day hike around Goorooyarro Park collecting all the puzzles and a few trads in the area, after lunch we had walked 17km for the morning, off we headed to kowen forest for some of the CBR wherigos, half way around it started to pour so called it early and thought doing the drive bys in the series would be a much better idea, in the evening we went to an event and was great to meet a few locals.

Day 3, we set off before the sun had risen for the main target of the day, the UFO series, with so many in the series we focused on the ones along the fire trail and a few in the paddocks, despite being buggered we walked another 18km for the day, in the afternoon we targeted some of our target list in the southern area

Day 4, after a morning CITO we headed back to Goorooyarra Park to complete the remaining caches in the area and finish the L and P plate series, another walk completed over 15km for the trip, in the afternoon we drove around the northern suburbs collecting caches off our target list

Day 5, after dropping georode off at the airport, davidwazza and I headed to Yass for the birds of Australia series and a few of the challenges in the area, after completing the caches we headed back to Canberra past a few caches before attacking the entire UGC series, being tight for time the trip wouldn’t have been complete without going to the Canberra nature park to collect the oldest caches

Total of 356 caches plus a few labs along the way,

Thanks for the caches and their placements

16-Jun-21
Out with LuckyL10n to grab a few more along this series...with today being tree climb day.

Starting here we had an idea where this one might be and once up the ladder, the cache was soon spotted. Passed down to LL who did the signing duties on this one before the cache was replaced and we packed up and headed to the next one.

Thanks again ALL7.....

#11557 - 9:41:00 AM; Hit the road with Sol de lune again this morning to collect a few more of the caches in this series we missed on our last visit. Brought the ToTT with us today, which we put to good use and also managed to collect a couple of others which we didn't try for due to the rather wet conditions last time through. A couple of the caches took a little bit of effort to locate, but managed to complete a successful mission with 15 finds from 15 attempts. TFTC ALL7 Smile

We weren't expecting to be in town for as long as we were but having had an issue with the fuel line, we had at least another day to have a look around and attempt some smileys.
We managed to do quite a few this morning and as we still had some time, decided to tackle some of this series. Won't be as many to find next time we visit, hopefully.
Please excuse the generic logs, we are thoroughly enjoying driving through the countryside. Another fun retrieval.
Like the others that had the higher D/T's, we didn't think that we would be able to spot this one but somehow managed to spot it with the torch.
Thank you for placing so many caches in this area.

22-Apr-21
We weren't going to look for this one as we hadn't had much luck back a little with the fading light. We said that we would have a quick look and take it from there. Couldn't believe we found it so quickly. Thanks for the cache.

Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.

Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??

Thanks ALL7 (F=18985 H=1365) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

We stamped the logs as "The Mob" to save space in the logs - today there were 6 teams caching together: Team Crackers, The Drovers, Phetlern, Alansee, the lovely micaparamedic and myself.

Most of the cache finds were straight forward, yet a couple stumped us. A few were located where it was difficult to safely pull the car off of the road, but we made it work with some creative maneuvers.

2020 was not a great year, and the beginnings of 2021 have also been tricky - so when it looked like the various borders would be open again (without quarantine restrictions), a trip that was planned at the Clear Waters mega was able to occur.

Adelaide, Victoria, NSW and Canberra - a decent drive, filled with various caching activities including Adventure Labs.

Several days caching with the awesome Team Crackers, gorgeous The Drovers, fab Phetlern, cool Alansee, and the lovely micaparamedic.

We laughed, sang to a vast variety of songs and chatted - almost non-stop! Cool[^] We piled into cars and had such a fun time. Despite the light showers, windy conditions at times, we also had sunny days to enjoy caching in.

A sincere thanks to ALL7 for placing these caches, including the enjoyable little series. Big Grin

15-Mar-21
Did this cache with a group who logged as THE MOB. We had to replace quite a few logbooks and caches. All in all we were appreciative of the CO's efforts in putting them out.

15-Mar-21

A plan was formulated at the Queanbyann Mega to come and attack some of the Canberra trails nut unfortunately in 2019 the bush fires put paid to our plans and then Co-vid got in the way and with things looking settled we took the opportunity to get the group together and head up here to try our luck.

Day 1 turned into a great day. although parking was quite difficult at some locations but we managed with a bit of a walk here and there. We replaced quite a few soggy log books and cache containers that we were positive were missing and had a great time collecting some nice terrain and difficulty's, some of which took quite awhile to spot, even with this many eyes. We only had one dnf for the day.

To save room in the logs we signed the logbooks as the Mob consisting of Alansee, Goodlook. Micaparamedic. Phetlern, Team Crackers and The Drovers.

Thanks to all the cache owners for these hides and a great fun day.

15-Mar-21
Setting out from Murrumbateman in glorious autumn weather, we had a fabulous day of fun, friendship and caching in the great company of Alansee, Good Look, Micaparamedic, Team Crackers and The Drovers. (For economy of space logs of caches we found are stamped "The Mob"

Thanks ALL7 for placing so many caches on the gameboard, which players enjoy finding.

Caching as 'The Mob" - 6 teams made up of Team Crackers, Phetlern, Micaparamedic,
Alansee GoodLook, and ourselves.

Staying in Murrumbateman, concentrating on trails, and a few nearby caches.
Thanks to all the CO's for a entertaining day. All caches found quickly and in good condition.
Many thanks for placing this cache, ALL7, for us and others to find.

Couldn’t spot it so didn’t climb it.

16-Feb-21
I did a quick survey of the tree and went back to the car to get my trusty TOTT, then it was an easy climb, thanks.

16-Dec-20
To finish off the year The Rats, Hoojar and I teamed up for another caching run down around the Yass area. We certainly had a great 24hr run finding plenty of caches (in some long grass!) The spate of recent hides around this area with five star terrain rating meant we scored plenty of stars with our finds and had some interesting caches. Great area and some great caching. TFTC!

15-Dec-20
After a difficult Covid 2020, The Rats floated the idea of a trip to Yass with Steeba and myself. We compared diaries, and had a 24 hour mid-week window where we could make things happen.

Thankfully the predicted rain held off, for the most part, and we were able to tour around the region collecting many of the new caches that have appeared of late.

A lot of excellent caches were found, and some fantastic terrain caches too. I was introduced to the concept that all caches cannot be climbed to, it still feels foreign to me!

Thank you to all of the cache owners for placing their hides.

Cheers

15-Dec-20
The Rats, steeba and Hoojar were keen to fit in one more caching trip before the curtain came down on 2020. With our personal calendar's filling fast, the best we could do was a midweek juggernaut for 24 hours.
The influx of caches around Yass was our target, so with some careful route planning we tackled a number of trails in the area.

This was one of our targetted trails for the night. The long grass made many of the hides alot harder than expected.

Thanks to all the CO's for your caches. We had a great time bantering one another, trialling our new TOTT, staying one step ahead of the weather and one eye on what lurked in the grass. Thanks.

12-Dec-20
The original plan was a walk in some of the high country but with some road closures it was changed to GOM's going to the ACT and Yass for a few day walks and caches.
This was our last and biggest day for numbers. On realising Yass is a little sleeping for early morning cafes PPE, Crash 2079 and myself went and completed the first part of the WIG's and challenge caches (about 32) before breakfast and then came back out again to finish off the rest and having the obligatory Maccas stop.
Given the numbers found I decided to see if I could push for a few more so onto the Dragonstone trail it was with a few nice higher T ones in there.
Plenty of finding and signing was done as we worked our way around.

A quick deploy of the expandable TOTT and the cache was in hand and signed. TFTC.

25-Nov-20
With one day to go before I head off to the North of Queensland, I was joined by Smittengranny for an afternoon in the long grass doing another section of the Dragonstone series. A few more trips out of the car with the ladder and one DNF fixed and one more DNF created.

Thanks for the cache ALL7

I had a great afternoon out caching with Albida33 who was on a mission. It is so much fun caching with a good friend. I was very happy to be the one to steady the ladder while he climbed when that TOTT was needed. It was also handy to have two pairs of eyes searching for those caches that required "look up". Thanks for allowing me to accompany you AL33. All caches attempted were found and signed. TFTCs ALL7 another great series with varied hides.

Found on a trip along the Dragonstone trail on a fine Spring day. Wink
Some very good hides and many muggles around.
Those tree climbs were a bit challenging as well.

Went on a country tour today and enjoyed all the finds made with ilook4geo. We found most of the caches we looked for, but gave some a miss when we couldn't see it up high or it was not really accessible. Another one where the TOTT came in very handy. Many thanks go to ALL7 for placing this extensive series of caches.

21,325. One of several really fun finds today with minniek.

After the great event today we meandered around cherry-picking some caches for Jasmer and D/T combos. We started heading home the scenic way knowing that a few tree-climbs awaited us out here. We were going to stop now but then we saw this D/T Combo which minniek needed so we continued on to it. The trusty TOTT was deployed for a nice quick find (for a T5!!).

Thanks ALL7 !!

Headed into Canberra with fitzy_1965 for our first Community Celebration event and what a celebration with our geocaching community.

Now heading home the long way, we headed towards Yass for a few tree climbs to help our D/T grids.

We were going to stop at the last one but when I saw this D/T I insisted we go as it was one I needed. Easiest of the lot. Thanks ALL7.

After helping with the maintenance of previous ones in this series, the CO asked us to assist her with the placement of more caches in the series.
It was a really nice winters day and we all had a great day out in the country side with many laughs along the way.

Thanks for keeping the game growing ALL7.

This was a good straightforward tree cache. Tftc ALL7!!!

Came out caching today with dty73 and Aquilus1. Mainly to complete this trail. We teamed up with Joolay and KittyKatch for a few of the tree climbs. The weather was beautiful, the company wonderful, and the caches, well, very average... But at least we got some smilies! Thanks for the cache ALL7.

Found with dty73, Kittykatch, Aquilus1 and Tankengine on a pretty chilly day picking up the tree climbs Kittykatch and I left last time. . TFTC ALL7

19-Jul-20
It was a very chilly morning to head out with dty73 and Tankengine and meet up with kittykatch and Joolay. The Dragonstone cache series was the target, to join up and tackle the tree climbs. Always good with a nice group and there was a lot of fun and laughter to be had!

Indeed it was a good move as some required assistance, most are good with a ladder but there are some that need a very tall ladder, a good climber, probably both... but also the extra hands to hold the ladder steady.

We met at #47 and made our way back to Jaggy Jeir stopping at the caches T3 or above as they seemed to require some element of up. For a sunny bright blue sky morning it was icy cold. The wind blew straight through and the hands froze, not good for some of the tiny micros but we managed to get all we set out to achieve done.

Jaggy Jeir has been on my to do list for a while and a lovely location, was also nice to finally feel some heat from the sun as we walked along! It was here we said goodbye to Joolay and Kittykatch as we headed north to complete the rest of the series not up a tree, found a few T2.5 that were up but simple stuff.

The caches we had wanted complete, it was into Yass for lunch with time to find a few local caches before getting home early afternoon. Thanks for the cache ALL7, a lovely scenic area and a nice drive through made more enjoyable with team work and great company.

Any information about the cache has been added below the cut and paste trip log.
Got to worry about a T5 but this is very achievable with the ladder, a comfortable retrieve.

18-Jul-20
That one certainly earned its difficulty, with geokid on my shoulders and using our cache grabbing tool. Getting it back up was a little harder but some useful branches certainly helped. TFTC

Cache 6271 on 28 Jun 2020.

Another day, another geocaching mission, this time to pick up a few of the more interesting DT combinations in this new series. TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox, ZQX and myself met nice and early, loaded ourselves and a TOTT into the SusieQ and headed off to eat some dirt. A gorgeous day although frosty underfoot at the start. We found nine of the nine we looked for, although some took some time to spot and find. We all contributed to retrieving and spotting the caches this time around. I will be back to finish off the series in the not too distant future!

Sixth find of the morning. My turn to do the retrieval , so I reluctantly (and maybe with a swear word at Fox who was being overly supportive) edged up to the cache and found it in the logical place. Cache thrown at Fox who signed and more politely passed it back to me for return.

Thanks ALL7 for the cache and the fun!

28-Jun-20
Nice to get out on a Sunday morning trip with FATZ (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, TikvaNZ and ZQX). Our mission was some nice DT combos that have recently been deployed.

Once at GZ, we had a hunch where the container might be, so out came the TOTT and up went AngelG27 for the find, while the lads held the ladder and provided 'expert advice' on where the cache might be. TFTC ALL7

28-Jun-20
The FATZ team of Fox in Jox, AngelG27, TikvaNZ and ZQX was out on the road again. We were on the prowl for some of the new caches with appetizing DT combos. This was one of them.
After getting the TOTT into a very stable position, one of our party shot up to retrieve the cache.
This one would be extremely difficult to get without the right TOTT. Thanks to TikvaNZ we had the right equipment. That's two days in a row that this equipment has come in handy. I might just need to invest on one myself.

Woohoo...[FTF] with Loci612 in the dark.

Well talk about unlucky getting this cache. First of all when this cache came out I was stuck at work and not able to leave. By the time I got out of work and started heading towards the caches Kathy and Julie were scooping them all up. I called them and asked if they were going for the remaining high D/T rating caches left and they said maybe not. I tild them that I would meet them there. Second bit of bad luck was I arrived home and my mum had stopped in for a visit so I had to text the girls and cancel my FTF plans. I waited till 7pm before looking at my phone again and this cache was still not found. I called loci612 and a plan was made to get them. Third bit of bad luck was I left my torch at home. We drove out to this cache and found it quickly. Finding it at night made them harder to find but I really wanted the FTF. Forth bit of bad luck while I was boosting loci612 into one of the tree climbs a large branch fell from the tree and struck me in the head causing a small cut and a big lump. Loci612 and I got all four high D/T FTFs so we were so pleased. Last bit of bad luck, when I got home I noticed that I had dropped my drivers license either at one of the caches or in loci612 car. Loci612 managed to find my license in his car and we got the FTFs so it was all worth the trouble in the end.

Thanks ALL7 for placing the Dragonstone series. I look forward to finding the rest and maybe even getting some more FTFs. The cache was signed DSD as usual

*FTF* with DSD Big Grin

**This Cache**

The cache size in incorrect, this is a **SMALL**.
The GZ was pretty spot on with this cache, which helped immensely with the find. We weren't exactly sure where / how it was hidden, but if we knew it was a small size it would have been much easier! After a few debates the ladder was set up and scaled, and the cache soon presented itself. Quite a neat little hide which we enjoyed! Thanks

**Tonight:**

Was chilling at home on the PC thinking of another early night given I start work at the crack of dawn when I get a phone call from DSD!

"Wanna go for FTF?" I was a little confused at first, I had already tried my hand at the challenges on the Federal Highway and thought KK + Joolay had cleaned up the power-trail on the Barton! But soon found out that some were left out!

So we headed off with a TOTT in tow as the terrain ratings looked a bit interesting. We were very happy about their locations meaning we could cut through the back of Murrumbateman instead of driving many km's along the dirt roads which is not ideal in the dark.

We ended up finding all 4 unfound caches, which we were honestly not expecting in the dark given both the D and T ratings of some! Tricky hides but in great spots, they were all well hidden / secured which was good to see!

Thanks ALL7
