TwoEms were surprised to find a quarry hiding in the burbs of Ferntree Gully. We took in the panoramic views on the platform before wandering off to find the hidden treasure. While there were people fishing down below, we did a spot of quarrying above. Nicely done, yet another self-inking stamp that leaked and stained our hands. Thank you for the cachepassport stamped.
What a beautiful place. After admiring the view from close to GZ did some muscle building activity and had the cache in hand.
Gosh this was the hardest to find for our family as it was hidden well in the rocks. There were multiple flora/fauna cards here, I think these are the missing ones from spots #10 & #41. Thanks again KNDP
A relatively quick find before watching the water and light show at the pop-up tonightThis spot is a hidden little gem. Thank you for sharing it with a geocache
Thanks for the cache, took a little hunt to find but good hide! This quarry rocks!
Cache # 11258 on 27 Apr 2024Decided to take advantage of the ANZAC day holiday and make a long weekend of it - added a road trip with Bobl27 to the mix and all is set for a fun few days. We are travelling from home in the ACT to Victoria via Cooma and then doing a relaxed loop to Melbourne picking up a few caches and counties along the way. And then straight up the Hume home! No tricky DTs or long walks this trip. Wonthaggi to Melbourne today via a few counties and a couple of older caches! This cache: a very pleasant spot to bring us! Happily a fairly quick find and enjoyed the views at the same time! Thank you KnoxBiodiversity for the cache and the fun!
Not Found at 09:51I spent quite a bit of time searching the rocks and bushes between muggles but had no luck.
17:00Wanting to fill a calendar hole, I was returning to a Multi that had been missing one Cup Day years ago. This was right near the start, so a quick stop to spot and sign. Thanks, KnoxBiodiversity.#8783
Wow what a hidden gem just off the main road. I never knew this quarry existed! Found easily, cache in good condition.
Hi allWe unfortunately, again, need to disable this cache due to a missing logbook and stamp. This is a disappointing outcome because we performed maintenance on the cache this month.Thank you to everyone who is doing the right thing. We hope to replace this within two weeks.KnoxBiodiversity.
Another quick find in the area whilst waiting to pick up our bunny from the Unusual Pet Vets nearby.I have to admit my heart sank when I saw the setup here - really not a fan of "needle in a haystack" hides - but fortunately just as I was about to pack it in I spotted something unnatural and had the container in hand.Doubly unfortunately, it appears this cache has been muggled again - not only is there no stamp, etc. in the container, there's also no log book... All that's inside are two swaps - a ball and a trading card - so will file a maintenance log too. Thanks for the hide anyway, KnoxBiodiversity - the vista at this location gave me huge nostalgia for the several months I spent returning to explore in and around this quarry doing the (now sadly archived) original Lord of the Rings series and final by grugthethug - absolutely my personal favourite cache series and final ever.
This cache has been muggled (again, based on reading past logs). There is no log book to sign or stamp for the series in the container, just a couple of swaps. If this is an ongoing issue it might be worth relocating this one...
**IMPORTANT NOTE IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE KNOX NATURE DISCOVERY PASSPORT**Hi thereWe have been informed the ink and stamp for our Nature Discovery Passport has gone missing. Thank you for letting us know. We endeavor to replace the these within the next two weeks. This cache is still active and able to be found if you are not participating in the Nature Discovery Passport.Kind regardsKnoxBiodiversity
I went geocating and I couldn't find it then my brother said he found something in the bush then I looked and it was the thing
The GPS signal in this area is not great - it was showing around 20m accuracy today. However, keeping an eye out while walking along the path, the cache was spotted immediately.A lovely view of the lake from GZ.
A very quiet morning here today so geokids and I had a chance to try and find the cache. We think we found it but no log inside. May need maintenance. TFTC
What a glorious day it promised to be... maybe a touch too warm for an ideal caching day but far to good to stay inside. With many caches calling, I decided to venture over to the *City of Knox*... I only had 12 more caches to find to qualify for ** 100 Finds in the Knox LGA Challenge **... and today was going to be the day!Having found six caches before lunch, I was at my halfway point for the day when I started up hunting again. This cache was very nearly a "blue frown face" for me... I'm not a big fan of turning over a pile of rocks until you luck upon the right one... and while I was pondering whether or not I bother starting, I glimpsed a spot of "unnatural" colour that was the cache. Thanks **KnoxBiodiversity** for putting this cache out.
Found this one on the way to see 'Art' at the local theatre. Nearly got caught by a muggle and their puggle, but got it back just in time. TFTC
What a nice place for a nap! The weather is beautiful today and the smell of wattle is in the air.
Out with Snips and Co this morning. We initially walked past this cache because we were too busy yakking. We didn't realise until we were back up those darn stairs. Back we went where a systematic search started. A noisy muggle asked us what we were doing, but she wasn't interested in helping once I briefly explained. Snips and Co came up trumps finding this cache after a few minutes of us searching.
Paying next to no attention to where this cache might be, we walked straight passed it. Not to worry, the sun was shining and Tiz13 and I were just starting our day. The GPS was a little funny here: here it is, no over a little, here it is, no over a little. I appreciated that a previous finder had left a clue as to where it might be, however, it didn't help lol. Eventually, the sneaky hide was spotted. Thanks, Knox Biodiversity Team, I'm keen to do more of the KNDP series.
Out for a local cache on a nice Saturday afternoon, this one was located quite quickly. Another one from the series ticked off. Tftc!
I haven't been out this way very much, so I headed to the Library event, then further afield. This one took 2 - 3 minutes to locate.
Thanks to Knox Biodiversity Team for the cache.

Thanks for the cache KBT, my second time for this one but, being such a fine day, I thought I would have another go. Thanks to the good effort and encouraging words of Riddell's post, I found it!

Found 6 m away. Was getting difficult and lots of rocks have been moved. So resort to logs… yep some good advice there.
Plants have grown a bit. So after moving a bit of shrubbery ….bingo.
Then it was easy to see.

The first cache I went after tonight ended up with a DNF so I decided on this one instead since it was nearby.
Took a fair but longer than it probably should’ve, but eventually I uncovered the well hidden container. Probably my favourite from this series so far. Log signed and replaced as found.
I’ll have to come and revisit this park again in the daytime as it’s been quite a while since I was last here.
Happy to report that the cache is in good condition and the log nice and dry.

I go past the quarry ever few months, I do like it. Found this cache a little before sunset. The quarry had a handful of people around, but not many, and no one was nearby while I found this one. Reasonably quick find, looking in the right place at the start certainly speeds things up and it was helped by good coords.
After this headed up to the hill above the quarry to see the sunset, which looked nice, though behind clouds.
