Six months ago on a very warm Brisbane day, Chamad found cheap return flights to Launceston. So with little thought, but 6 months to plan, the flights were booked - for a whirlwind 3 day weekend (travel time included). This was day three with an early morning start (in the dark with the sun taking ages to appear). We spent the morning collecting caches around Hobart and met up with Eepees for a few of the trickier ones. By mid morning, we were on our way to Launceston for the plane flight back to Brisbane. Originally the plan was to drive straight to the airport, but we still managed to stop for about 10 caches along the way.I was at the wrong elevation but luckily Chamad didn't and we were able to move on with cache found.

A while back, jetstar had flights to Launceston from Brisbane for $150 return. What a great opportunity to grab a new state, some new caches and meet some new people. Oh there was one other purpose, North Tassie. My caching buddy feels the cold so was a little sceptical to the timing and had second thoughts to the idea when I mentioned it, however flights were booked and the weekend finally arrived. Day three and we are heading back, our time here is done, but there is still 4 hrs of time to grab a few more caches and a couple along the way. The plan today was to grab a few of the maps, meet up with EeePees for a couple of caches and then head up north with a few more on the way to the airport. It has been a good time here and we got some very nice caches. Will plan a 2 week trek here next time and finish off what was left behind and start on those geo arts. This was a case of lucky I was here when I was here as the tide was out so it was an easy walk in. We signed the log and replaced the cache as we found them and then went on our way to the next cache. Thanks for the hide.

The tide was conducive for a walk along the shore but at GZ the GPS was bouncing around a bit but using the clue the cache was soon in hand and the log signed. Thank you thylacin for placing and maintaining this cache.

Had half an hour before meeting up with friends for a day on the beach, so thought I would pop along to this one Smile It's a super beautiful area, and I ended up being a few minutes late back after getting caught up looking in all the rock pools! A nice easy find, and hopefully the first of many Summer finds now exams are all over. TFTC!

The tide was out this time, so off for another look. Relatively quick find, and all good at GZTFTC

What a glorious morning for a stroll along the seaside. Much better than yesterday. The phone was a bit flakey with direction, apparently GZ is 8m out in the water. Cachesense prevailed and the booty was soon mine. This is a lovely spot, with the waves lapping just below, thanks for the experience.

I think I might have struck it lucky tonight.
The sandstone, although wet, wasn’t slippery as I made my way to the cache. I didn’t turn on my torch until I had crossed my he sand as I didn’t want to alert the muggles watching tv to my presence.
Found quickly. Was a bit of a stretch to get it out.
Thanks for the cache!

Thank you so much for this amazing hide.
The wind was blowing and misting with rain, oh and the tide was almost full. Nice work Viking Dad.
We climbed the the rocks and had a blast feeling like kids again.
Cache is completely dry and perfect

03-Apr-23
Quiet spot (apart from the 100 school kids that appeared on the beach!).
Thanks for bringing me here.

The rock is my favorite spot in Howrah. It was great to find a cache there!

08-Mar-23
We first looked for this cache in early August but the tide was in and we couldn’t get any closer than ten metres to GZ so we decided to leave it for another day. I returned in January but there were too many muggles around to look, and so, once again I didn’t get very close to the cache before deciding to turn back.

I came back today, when the tide was out and there no muggles around and made a quick find, helped by the fact that the cache wasn’t quite in it’s proper hiding place and, instead, sitting out in the open. Log was signed and the cache was put back in it’s hiding spot.

Thanks for the cache thylacin!

Apologies for the late log. I was in Hobart for 5 days in October for the cricket and there were games every other day which left me two free days for caching. This was the first of those days and I had originally planned to hire a car to pick up some solved puzzles. That didn't work out so I set out on foot from where I was staying in Bellerive. A big day of walking with 22,000 steps and 10 finds. After a few finds to the west I continued be beachside stroll and this was the next target. Found my way down to the beach and along the rocks. Took a little while before I found the right hidey hole and had the cache in hand. Nicely done to hide one here! Thanks for the cache thylacin.

Lady membsec came here many months ago with the grandchildren 3 & 6year olds and couldn’t concentrate enough worrying about their safety. Today wasn’t the best day to revisit as the rocks were extremely slippery and this time I had to worry about male membsec. So glad I spotted it easily and that male membsec had to extra height to reach the nice container.

Signed and replaced as we found it.

Out on a wild weather day today with RoadieM. We wandered around the beautiful sandstone rock ledges to what we thought was GZ but unfortunately no luck today. There had been a bit of a rock slide, so maybe the cache has been a casualty of that?? Have sent photos to CO.

20-Aug-22
tassietan and I carefully went around the coast on what is a very windy and wet day.
We got to GZ area and were faced with what looks like a landslide/rockfall. We are thinking the cache might be flattened under a very big rock which has fallen down from the bank??

I was out and about cleaning up a few caches that had popped up around town and decided I should go and get this one.

The beach was busy but I was able to hide away while finding the cache. A very clever little hide, but the area might be good for a CITO

Made an unconscious bee line straight to it! Such a cool lil area, love coastal geology so much! Thanks for bringing me here

Nice stroll to gz, muggles and dogs everywhere. Tide was out however the rocks were still quite slippy, extra caution needed. Great hide in a lovely location with beautiful views. TFTC

While caching in the area we found your cache along the way. What a great place to visit, love the sandstone as it has weathered by the elements, this is why we love geocaching bring us to places like this.

Cache and contents were in good condition and adding to our favourites.

Thanks thylacin for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Arrived to this one on bicycle and made my way down onto the beach area and then to GZ along the rocks. Thankfully the tide was low enough to be able to access this hide [^]

It took about 5 minutes to find it was hidden so well, but i was fascinated by the geolocical shapes and small caves here, so looking for that time was enjoyed heaps [^] Lovely spot for a hide Cool

The cache was found at the log was signed at 10:24 on Thursday 24 December 2020.
Loved how the container was well wrapped up with a bow-tied string Big Grin so no water will get in.
[loved the spot and the cache hide therefor a Fave Point is given Wink]

Returned the cache and tied the string in a bow-tie as found WinkCool

Today was an absolutely lovely day in Hobart - clear skies and warm air, perfect for a day at the beach! We decided to change things up a little, and try to find a beach we weren't familiar with, to try a new place. This one ended up being our destination - partly because it's not too far from home, and partly because of the cache (of course).

Arriving at the beach, we discovered it absolutely packed with muggles - clearly we weren't the only ones with the same idea! Fortunately most of them were occupied with the waves, so we were able to approach GZ unnoticed. A quick search found a well-hidden cache, just out of sight of prying eyes.

With the formalities taken care of, we spent the next hour or so thoroughly enjoying the nearby rock pools and splashing about in the surf.

Thanks for a great addition to our wonderful beach outing!

Thank you thylacine for the cache.
It was high tide this afternoon, so to get to GZ was a little challenging, but a very enjoyable find.

11-Sep-20
We were fortunate that the tide was nearly low enough to get to this cache. By timing our movement between waves we were able to get to GZ. Accurate coordinates and a tell-tale sign led to a quick find although the shorter member of the team, who got there first, had to be creative to access the hide and retrieve the cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the good hide and cache. It earns a favourite from us.

Hello thylacin thank you for the cache

Out and about caching with EeePees before BNO.
The tide wasn't to bad but wouldn't want it too much higher.
It didn't take too long to find.

Found with AlbyDangles, as we were out and about finding a few caches before grabbing some dinner, somewhere still to be decided.
Lovely spot, tide is just about 'nearly too high' this evening.

Thank you for your cache.
It is such a pity that people have seen fit to vandalise the nearby cliff. Hopefully the wearer washes the paint quickly.
The cache was found at dusk today, roughly half way between high and low tide in nice calm weather.

Two caches this Thursday afternoon and two Favourite Points added, thanks thylacin for a brilliant spot to wander. Checked the tide information and was right to roll. A short stroll from the parking spot and spotted the old sandstone staircase. The beach was clear so extracting the cache was easily done. Love the area water was lapping but was high enough to allow my work shoes to remain dry. Thanks for the scenic view and history lesson. Loved it

Thanks for the cache thylacin.
Out and about this afternoon with RLD4963 and the GeoGSP. It wasn't exactly low tide, but it wasn't high tide either, and we managed to make our way to GZ and back without getting our feet wet. A nice quick find at GZ.

This wasnt on the plan for the day but we called in to see if the tide was right and we were in luck, after a bit of back and forth we ended up back where we started and then found the cache no problem Smile

Just a quick few caches for our Saturday and then a short trip North to Pontville to do a Lab with Old Saint

Found on 11/07/2020 at 10:55:00 AM thanks to thylacin for placing this cache for me to find.

After some prearranged plans and COFFEE we came to look for this cache. No problems with the tide or wild surf, just a couple of slippery spots. The GPS was jumping all over the place, 10m this way, 8 metres back, no we've come back too far now! Eventually we went back to near where we had guessed it would be and found it well hidden. A joint second to find around 10.30 this morning with stainless steel rat.
I used to spend Sunday afternoons walking here with my dad and sister when we were visiting mums dad and step mother.
Thanks thylacin

Well I have not been this excited about caching in a long time. Yep up early reading emails, new cache was published and no one yet logged. So gupping down coffee left a little early towards GZ.
Knowing the area well and I lived in Howrah for 8 years and walked and explored this area, I arrived with a very low tied and headed to were I thought would be the cache. A little slip and search of one spot before heading a little further over and bingo. Another dry and safely hidden cache.
There is a face on the cache cover bag that is a little scary under torch light. Second cache in a week using an old school method. Thanks for helping ignite the spark at 05:15
JABs.
