Going in was on my mind on a rather warm day. Neither the cache or me went for a dip. TFTC
Felt a bit funny hanging off the weir but all in the same of fun. Thanks for the cache. Signed FS
Day 8 of my Canberra Mega adventure. Out caching with the members of the WA3 crew. The day looks to be another sunny day, so a great day for geocaching . Very happy to claim a smiley here. logs signed as WA3Team members ,Geotrakka, Burns345 and Neva2oldThis is my 13168 find Thankyou Tankenginefor placing and maintaining this cache.
Over here for Canberra Mega from Western Australia picking up caches and meeting like persons. TFTC signed as WA3 (Geotrakka Burns345 neva2old)
Another early start after a crazy 5am event. Members of our team slowly starting to head different directions. Out this morning for a few hours while others are on a tour. Signing as a team - WA3Another nice spot - peopleSwimming nearby Some logs are delayed - Apologies for that- its been hectic trying to keep up! Many thanks Tankengine for placing this hide for me to find and adding to my adventures.
Woah held on tight to that one. Two hands!!! Dodged many muggles who were out for a dip or fish on this warm day. *The generic bit*Travelled up form Northern Victoria to attend the GeoBash Mega in Canberra. We started geocaching just before the Easter Mega event in Rutherglen last year and will celebrate our 1000th find at this Mega. Thanks to the organisers, sponsors, volunteers and all the COs who make these events a great success.
What a beautiful spot! Apart from the cars behind you every so often its quite serene. Got a bit nervous getting the cache and putting it back but all is well. Thanks Tankengine for another amazing cache!
We took a drive out to Corin Forest today to have far too much fun going at wild speeds on their slide luge thing without a helmet on.On the way there, we noticed this interesting weir as well as the fact it had a cache on it when we drove over which provided sufficient reason to stop on the way back.A nice park nearby was chosen before we wandered out and peered over the edge to eventually locate the hide!A slightly precarious retrieval ensued, although it's nothing we haven't done before!First to sign the lovely fresh log and all was replaced shortly after. Thanks to Tankengine for this hide!
Was passing thru, so checked/replaced the log! Old log attached...
GOOD TO GO!!!
GOOD TO GO!!!
#3869 Ducking out for a cache I found myself here. Just picking a random spot to visit on the map. Ended up parking nearby and grabbing some multi info for another day then strolled down to the crossing. Thank goodness no flooding today and great coordinates had me on the money. Thanks Tankengine for another Weird Weir.
After two days of rain, Point Hut was well and truly running well, with plenty of water flowing beneath the weir.
We decided, since there was a pocket of no rain for at least a day that we would come for a walk in the area, and after having parked the car, not too far away, made our way to the centre part of the Weir, where, after some searching, we have added our name to the log and have returned it safely to its proper hiding place.
Thanks Tankengine

Aramil and I have been visiting some random spots around Canberra before a trip away. I do like the weir series caches because I tend to find them pretty fast and they’re always in good condition, this being no exception. Was a little tricky getting it back, but made it.
Went for a bike ride this afternoon, and took the opportunity to collect this cache before the rains washed it under again. A quick find and signed without anyone about.
Thank you!
Thank you!
An unusual D/T rating had me stopping for a look. The water looked inviting this morning, but glad I did not take a dip while making the find. After checking out a few spots I made the find. Cache all dry and in good nick. Thanks for the cache TS.
After Parkrun this morning Strangetrousers, KittyKatch and I decided to pick up Joolay and finish off an AL and bonus in the southern end of the ACT. When we got to Tharwa we saw the signs that the Boboyan Road was closed so we did a few caches around Tharwa and then headed to Namadgi Visitor Centre to pick up some caches there and on the way back stopped here.
Noted how the upriver part is very still and calming and the downriver part is rushing, swirling and very loud.
Quick find and cache and log in good condition.

Wow the water is pumping today. Pretty cold too. A nice adventure today wandering down southside

Wow lots of water at the weir today ! Found with Joolay, Strangetrousers and Isopeda on a winter drive out to Nanadgi.
Thanks for hiding this cache Tankengine
Thanks for hiding this cache Tankengine
TFTC - very clever dad made short work of this one. The kids loved the sound of running water
Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.
Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??
Thanks Tankengine (F=19410 H=1073) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

We stamped the logs as "The Mob" - today I cached with teams: micaparamedic and The Drovers. An early, drizzly morning, but a nice area to explore.
Most of the caches were straight forward in this area, yet a couple stumped us. A few were located where it was difficult to safely pull the car off of the road, but we made it work with some creative maneuvers.
2020 was not a great year, and the beginnings of 2021 have also been tricky - so when it looked like the various borders would be open again (without quarantine restrictions), a trip that was planned at the Clear Waters mega was able to occur.
Adelaide, Victoria, NSW and Canberra - a decent drive, filled with various caching activities including Adventure Labs.
Several days caching with the awesome Team Crackers, gorgeous The Drovers, fab Phetlern, cool Alansee, and the lovely micaparamedic.
We laughed, sang to a vast variety of songs and chatted, non-stop. We piled into cars and had such a fun time. Despite the light showers and windy conditions at times, the sun certainly peaked out from behind the clouds a number of times.
A sincere thanks to Tankengine for placing caches in this area.

Day 5 of our trip to Queanbeyan, and surrounding areas.
Today we are caching with Micaparamedic & GoodLook, as the other teams in our group have headed toward the Mega. Using the stamp that we had made for group caching trips, we signed as 'The Mob' to save space on the logs.
What a surprise - a large man-made lake, which the ducks were enjoying.
Cache was a good hide for the area and in good condition.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Tankengine, for us and others to find.

A fast find thanks to accurate coordinates. The sound of the running water was very soothing. TFTH
Down on my knees for the recovery, thankfully with accurate coords this was the only spot I had to explore. Careful not to drop anything, signed the log and replaced. TFTC Tankengine.
After a long dnf the other week
5 seconds of looking and it being almost dark we found it with ease
How did we not find it the first time!!!

A pleasant walk along the Murrumbidgee River with Decrypter. We parked in the nearby shady carpark and set off across the bridge. This was the first find today and a quick find. So nice to see water flowing. Good coordinates and the cache and log are good. TFTC Tankengine.
Found the word for WP1 and subbed in every way we thought possible, close but no cigar yet. Will have to retry after a bit more of a play with the numbers.
Tried this once before but couldn't get to it last time because it was flooded. However, after a read of the description, it was soon in my hands. TFTC
Cache 6644 on 24 Oct 2020.
Rain does not deter a geocacher on a mission, and I had a mission to get around 10 caches today! ZQX was also up for a mission. So we combined efforts to get some interesting DT combinations for him and a few more caches for me along the way! We headed to the deep south of the suburbs targeting some caches near Point Hut crossing and a couple more in the suburbs. A successful mission all around. We got a bit wet, but had come well prepared with our jackets and umbrellas.
For the first tranche if caches, we were worried about the Point Hit crossing being crossed, but it was open with water still a metre under the bridge. Then it was a case of parking near by and walking the sodden track!
First cache of the morning- I think some of the difficulty for this one lies in not getting run over while retrieving and trying not to look suspicious while obviously doing something suspicious! ZQX made the grab on this one!
Thanks Tankengine for the cache and the fun!

With all the rain about, AG27 and I were discussing the possibility of the crossing being closed today. But when we drove over it, the water was still a metre below it. Plenty of water, but nothing to spoil some geocaching. Using my trusty smart phone, we got to within 1 metre of GZ. I spotted the cache quite soon after that. First of the morning for both of us, I do believe. After this one we headed to the nearby mini power trail of trads plus bonus wherigo.
Thx TE!

I was pretty sure I knew where it would be, and in a sign of growing competence at finding tankengine caches, I was correct (for this one at least)! So ignoring the perplexed looks from truck drivers (why, after a gap in traffic of 5 minutes, do they all go past now when I'm on my knees accessing the cache?) I got the container, signed the log and replaced carefully. Thanks, Tankengine - this has been on my want-to-do list for a while.
There are some caches where you go to yourself, ‘now why didn’t I think of that?’, and this was one of them. That’s why I’m the Green-Martian and T.E is Tankengine, I search, whereas he is a specialist hiding caches. Thought I’d do this cache during a weekday while still on holidays to avoid the traffic and muggles but this bridge is like Piccadilly Circus. I became the tourist gazing out aimlessly watching the world go by while cars zipped past, then looked for cache when coast was clear. Highly rewarding find on a brilliant day. Tftc

As I was in the area not far from our objective, decided to grab this ... coords spot on.. must be careful handling the cache.. don't want to drop it.
Decided to have a mid-week day off, and as the weather looked good for geocaching.
Found with Strange Trousers
thanks Tankengine

Still a lot of water going under, but had an idea and felt around a few places before putting my hand on it.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Wet and wild and windy was the weather. Such conditions always have me thinking of the grammar monster "Whether the wether would weather the weather, or whether the weather would kill the wether." Plenty of darling little lambs seen out in the cold chill, on our drive out and about. Soooo many 4wd crossing the crossing, journeying up to Corin, on return from our own earlier visit.
Quite astounding how high the water had surged up over the crossing, given all of the mud and debris. Walked across and admired the flow, noting the concrete bollards that had been dislodged and swept into the weir. On the walk back, muggle hubby was the first to spot the cache, and regardless of the passing traffic, we squatted, retrieved and signed the log. Managed to not drop it into the water. After new kitchen shopping early morning it was time to do some caching.
Sent a message through to ALL7 to say we had finished our shopping and suggested a meeting spot for a wander.
Didn't think this one would still be here after the recent rains but was found in good condition.
Thanks for the hide Tankengine

The road was closed to traffic with the ends of bridge in thick mud. The river was deep and swift after the recent flooding. It was my intention to just do a cache on the other side as I thought it would be still too dangerous with the high raging river to even consider this one. Contesta however had other ideas and very quickly had the cache in hand. TFTC.
TFTC excellent little adventure after all the rain and raging torrents! A day out caching with Marmaduke Rothschild and this was close to the end after walking across the muddy bridge to pick up some caches nearby. MR was not too enthusiastic with this one but my GPS was showing it as way too close not to at least give it a try. I promised to be careful, and with very little effort had it in hand. This must be one of the easiest Weird Weirs I've done to date. Thanks Tankengine.
Cache condition: good and dry after a definite submersion in recent days!

Out for my 3rd caching mission of the day. This time it was a solo mission. Since parts of the Namadgi were now open, I was keen to get out there to see how things have been affected. After success out there, I returned via this cache. Quickly found. TFTC.

After being well and truly underwater yesterday - I checked on this this morning, and all is well! Good to go!
A nice little wander down to the crossing to grab this one. Found with Chocolistick03. Signed as OK + CL3, TFTC.
Called by here this afternoon to take a look for this cache. My timing was good - there was a lull in traffic sufficient for me to locate the cache without attracting the attention of any passing motorists and I soon had the log singed and cache replaced.
From here I ventured to a little further down the road to 'Broken Bridge II', but as I made the return trip back past this cache I saw a couple of other people wandering across the weir with phones in hand. I stopped to introduced myself to Loci612 and Darksidedan and we chatted for a few minutes before we went our separate directions - nice to finally meet the people behind the signatures I've so often seen in logbooks!
TFTC, Tankengine! [:)}

It's funny with all the "Weird Weir" caches you have placed in the many years, not only the longest one in the ACT, but one you have no doubt driven straight over at least 1000 times only just got it's own cache! [:o]
What a top spot it is too! Really enjoyed this! Have always just zoomed over here and never walked across, so I was pretty impressed by the rate at which the water was flowing, and it did make a nice picture!
I only took the picture though because when we got to GZ Dan said "Don't look yet, someones coming!". Sure enough someone was walking along the Weir towards us! So I took photo's and Dan stood around looking confused whilst we waited for them to pass so we could search. But they didn't walk past, they stopped right next to us, and said "I know what you are doing!"
We were very surprised to meet The Tree Whisperer! Have always wanted to meet you after all the awesome logs on my caches, your logs have been some of my all-time favourite, so thank you! We had a nice chat about tree's and caching before heading off.
Thanks Tankengine The hide was nice and easy after all, in the first spot I checked!

Found with The Matetrix. After a return to training it was a good opportunity to drop by for a looksie. Wandered across the weir by torchlight for a quick find, sign and replace before any muggles drove by. TNLNSL TFTC
Quick dash to find this as its my closest unfound cache. Took Zach with me. I know this area very well, and had even considered my own hide around here. This was a very sneaky hide which was both very easy to spot if you knew where to look, and completely concealed to passers by. Thanks for another clever hide tankengine.
# 6213 Found after a fun morning up in the snow at Corin. A nice day to be out with the Importunity team from Sydney. I was a bit worried I would need to get my feet wet here, but the 7yo spotted it quickly. Interesting location.
Thanks Tank.
Thanks Tank.
Found in a flash by master 7 after we all laid prostrate on the weir. Log signed, tftc
A brisk short walk from the car and a quick find as it was cool and breezy with lots of traffic. Thanks to ALL7 who came to the rescue with a pen as ours run out of ink. Off we went together to chase more caches, and some that ALL7 had already found today.
Very, very busy with traffic today including huge semi trailers. Probably the school holidays don’t help. TFTC Tankengine.

A lovely winter ️ afternoon walk and a visit to a very familiar weir. Cache located quite easily, beginning to think the weir master has lost their evil streak, because there was definitely some more interesting and difficult options to hide his treasure.
But then again, perhaps we shouldn’t poke the bear

I had a day off so wanted to get out of the house for a walk and a bit of caching. I walked along the river here on both sides and found a great collection of caches along the way. The off track sections were a bit rough with some big holes to look for, but at least it was dry.
It was good to get a cache so soon after publishing, even though I was never on for a first.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine

*FTF* 8:37pm with Aquilus1.
We were just heading out to find a special cache that we wanted today, but three potential FTFs popped up instead.
We headed to the closest one first but we thought we saw torch lights near GZ as we walked half way there so we decided to abandon that one and head to this one instead.
The drive was pretty straight forward and the parking easy and close by. It didn't take long to find the cache and when we opened it, t was balnk. So we signed and thought we would head back to the last one as we noticed it was still unfound. Tftc Tankengine!!!
