For some reason the cache info didn't load into my Garmin, so I simply resorted to logical places.TFTC.

Great crisp morning outThe views from this walk were amazingThanks TE for bringing us here. Apparently 10.78% of all my finds are TE hides.Am I up to 100? not yet, apparently this is 96 So close!

Found on my walk on these old train tracks after tracking down some ftfs. The views along this train line are stunning, hopefully, this encourages a rail trail to be created in the future! Thank you Tankengine for the cache!

The early bird catches the worm! Apparently. Baristayan and I caught no such creatures. But we DID manage a first to find. And (somewhat bizarrely) this cache filled a blank hole that had been plaguing my DT grid. Only three more squares to fill in and I can claim a maiden DT loop.Ahh geocaching, so much to do, so little time hehe. Thanks!

I was going to make this a DNF, but since I didn't give it all of the attention that it seemed to call for (based on previous logs), I thought that I'd write a note instead. It was after dark by now, and I was still a long way from the car; after ten minutes I decided to keep walking rather than search in the dark for any longer...

ohh sigh. This one was the aim of my trip today due to the unusual d/t rating. But alas the gz was covered in water due to the rains.
Socks and shoes off and pants rolled up. No fear of snake bites today.
But no luck. I will return one day when its dry.

I'd had a go at this cache a couple times previously. With a bit more of a strategic sense of how the cache was likely to be hidden, it was in hand quickly this time.

TFTC!

Found after a bit of a search - approx 3-4 metres off on our iPhone gps, but persistence and the hint had us rethink and search where we eventually found the cache. TFTC

28-Mar-22
A second day's attempt to find this one. Today I'd gone through all the possible hiding places twice and was about to give up. At the start of the third look - bingo.

18-Mar-22
Focus was on the hint and just happened to move the right cover.tftc

22-Jan-22
Out with Tankengine and Aquilus1 to do a little cache maintenance and pick up a few unfound caches and place a couple too.

We used two cars at either end and walked about 10 or so kms from the paintball end to the last cache. It was a long, hot, hard walk and I felt it by the end.

But it was also lovely and interesting and I think this section would make a great rail trail one day.

This cache: Took a little to find, but found in the end. Bit squashed and muddy, but the log in perfect condition. Tftc!!!

Out with dty73 and Tankengine for a walk out along the tracks. Beautiful day to be out and loved the paraphernalia spotted as we walked along. The flat terrain along the tracks was a relief from the hills we walked to get up to them... clearly my Christmas break was less than active!

Lovely scenery along the way helped distract that the walking became more challenging the further we walked along the tracks. Although not the hottest of days it warmed up, and the stones underfoot slowed things up a little.

The last two culvert caches added to the fun, challenging to scramble down to with the moving sliding rocks on the slope, add in a few barbs, nettles and thorns and the DT was well earnt!

Relief to turn off the tracks and head across the reserves under the shade of the trees, so many butterflies and dragonflies everywhere. Fantastic day out and a great place to walk, although I was so pleased to have crawled under that last fence and be back to the car! Thanks for the cache and the day.

Looked through a few of the options till the right one revealed the cache.

Found it! Again, found it after Aquilis 1 on same day and used car key to etch paper to log find.
Great hide!

19-Jan-22
I was out on the disused railway with a work colleague (working on the proposed rail trail) and finally remembered to look for some caches. He went on to the switches while I went back to look for this. Lots of potential hiding places but eventually found the right place. Thanks for placing a cache here Tankengine.

(Oops, got ahead of myself there....)

Out for a day of caching with Albida, Smittengranny, Joolay, KittyKatch and Barb2e and this was our next one.

A search by all of us and Albida soon came up with the goods. Nicely hidden away however the methodical search soon meant the log was being signed.

Thanks again TE....

There has been plenty of rain recently, and it made some of the creek crossings in the first part of the days walk a challenge. The day was a group of Sol de Lune, Smitten Granny, Joolay, Barb2e and Kitty Katch. Our aim were the puzzles south of the Paintball and the Tankengine caches along the railway line. It was a very successful day with some difficult puzzles and some difficult terrain. All in all a great day.

Thanks for the cache Tankengine

After all the rain we had during the week, I wasn't sure if Capital Crunchers would be able to get out for our planned walk today, but we made it!

Like Joolay said feet are really starting to feel tramping along this railway . Again it was one of our male heroes who managed to put hands on this cache first. Now the log carries our names.

Poked around in a number of wrong spots, then came back and located a sign. Found!

28-Feb-21
Ah well, this one eludes me for now! I was so determined to find it that I broke my usual rule of not staying longer than 10 minutes... But as the sun was quickly sinking I really had to call it quits in the end.

I was so sure I knew what the hint meant too, but after a very thorough search down that track (ha) I now believe I was on the wrong train of thought.

Perhaps with my more high powered GPS map, instead of a phone, I can get more accurate coordinates. At ant rate I don't much mind - happy to give this one another ride, another time. Wink

So many options! This wasn't really at the end of the line or even the beginning of it but is somewhere in between. After a short search the right one was found.

Following this morning's event, I teamed up with IAmCoust to get a bit of exercise and grab this cache that had been on my radar for a while. Thankfully the rain held off for the walk here and back. Cache soon found on arrival. TFTC.

Headed out for a bit of a wander along the disused railway line in the vicinity of Old Tuggeranong Road today, aiming to collect a few caches. In the end I went much further than I had originally intended and ended up returning in the dark!
Third find for the afternoon and a sense of deja vu - I'm sure I've picked up a cache near here once before! No matters - it's a cool place to visit!
TFTC, Tankengine

31-Jul-20
A quick stroll up the last cache to find a Tankengine cache this close to the suburbs with very few finds already. A short search and shinydragon had this one in hand. TFTC!

31-Jul-20
One of the early finders of this cache! Very cool spot to check out. We pondered for a bit bit on how to approach the search and I made the discovery after a bit of thought. I really enjoyed this one, thank you!

24-Jul-20
With a few hours free this afternoon this was a good short 3km return walk to the car. We love walking on these old tracks with plenty of train infrastructure to look over and remembering a time when it was all in use. The rail nails alone must weight close to 500g each. The small rail plates several kilos - so much heavy solid steel lying around. Back here for the fifth time we continue to enjoy the history. Worth a favourite point. Now off to Point Hut Crossing for a 6km walk. TFTC Tankengine.

*FTF* with DSD Big Grin

Yup, an absolutely top spot, one of my favourite locations in the ACT by far! The first line of the description could be aimed at myself as I have said many times before how much I love abandoned locations and spots, train lines included!

I knew exactly where this cache would be hidden too after reading the description, despite it feeling like a long time since I have walked along here, I had a vivid picture in my head of the old concrete platform and the siding! So once we found the tracks, the GPS was put down and we followed our guts insteadwalking and chatting with head torches, so we wouldn't trip on the sleepers and break a nose...! Razz

Eventually reached GZ, and with the accurate coordinates and the hint the cache was located in a jiffy! Well done, and thanks for another cache along this line, not sure if I have been here before in the dark but it was good fun!
