Last for the day

09-Sep-24
Last for the day. We have done very well. Thank you for the maintenanceOne wonders how much longer some of these will be available with the road works happening. One of the Dacre Cottage has already succumbed to progress.

Technically its not quite a dot but close enough. Plenty of Canadian geese around they are quite noisy. TFTC

05-Oct-23
Caching along this road. I imagine some of the spots will become compromised due to the significant road works near the start. I picked all except for one that was gone or underwater and another that is right beside a busy entrance to a construction site.

I found this cache a while ago on a beautiful sunny day. I did all the caches on this road and the coastal walkway almost up to Stillwater, about 25ish caches all in all. Very nice and creative caches on my way and lots and lots of mud... Not sure if this much mud is allowed by the police. Thanks for hiding and maintaining this little fella, niice and easy find with the help of the hintTftc

Saturday afternoon out for some. Caches after work in a new area to us tftc

28-Jul-23
Today has been an interesting day.Strated off on a bit of a bum note when Air New Zealand decided my luggage didn't like flying on the same flight as me and would come on another one two hours later. What a frustrating waste of time.

However It finished on a high note. I really enjoyed the drive along the road here. There wasn't much traffic and plenty of good quality caches to find.

Some of the caches at the beginning of the road look like they may well become the victims of progress with the construction of the new Penlink motorway.

Cheers and TFTC

08-Feb-23
After dropping the family off for an overseas flight early this morning, I made sure to allow enough time before heading back to Whangarei, to go for a wander and collect a few caches. I knocked a few off around the Mangere Lagoon and then headed north here to Weiti Road.

I had never been up this road before and I couldn't believe how wide it was and what good condition it was, yet there was almost no traffic ... ??? Surely a road out to the beach, this close to Auckland would be humming..?? It wasn't till I got to the security gate at the end, that I realised why ..

Oh well, little traffic meant for easy searching without too many interruptions. Ran out of cellphone coverage further down the road, so had to return to the top of the hill to download the data for offline use ..

Heading back out to the main road now and this was a nice quick find in the hint location. TFTC

We are caching along Puzzle Road early on this wet and windy morning. Arrived at GZ, applied the hint, and immediately we are seeing red dots in front of our eyes. Thanks.

#11,472. I decided today was the day to get the Dacre challenge series done and it seems this road has now turned into a power trail. More than happy to find both trads and mysteries along this flash route to the gated community. Good to see the variety of cache hides along this road. Makes it fun to cache the powertrail. Nice quick find here. Great to convert red dots to yellow smiling faces. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks G-2 for hiding this cache here.

28-Jul-22
A nice quick find. Thanks for placing your cache.

I'm in Auckland to house sit while my mother is overseas visting family. Today was a good day weatherwise with only the odd brief shower. Much better than was forecast!

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

06-Jun-22
A little detour from the Smile series with Tramyard, although I found this one on my own as he was waiting for me down the road while I walked down collecting a couple of caches. This was a pretty quick find but it was a little more buried so I didn’t spot it straight away. All good here though. Thanks G-2!

The Stik-A-Crane's planned to do the nearby costal walk and the surrounding roads. Mr and Mrs HeMaLuDy decided to join them for the adventures. Beautiful weather allowed us to really enjoy the very pleasant coast and our day out. It took a little while to find here but we got it.TFTC

04-Jun-22
Headed up this way again as we spotted a trail of challenge caches we had qualified for, so thought to make a day of it...Joined by team HeMaLuDy, well actually HeMa only .....
Parked up and headed along the trail to this cache ....

Luckily the weather was on point for the walk, but still managed to get soaking socks as the grass was saturated from the days before rain and a heavy due this morning...

The cache was found in good condition ....but we had to dig it out of the dirt, as the mower tractor must have driven over it and pushed it into the dirt.....

TFTC.

My Grandson, DragonDefender, had a Teacher-only day at his school and I was put on Grandad duties for the day. So it was planned that we would and try to sign off the caches along the Weiti Puzzle Rd.

07-Apr-21
Roadtrip time, day 6.
I have used the Easter weekend combined with taking 4 days leave this week to get in a 9-day driving tour, hoping to get as far north as 90 mile beach in order to seek the recently published PWGT caches throughout Northland, as well as catch up with 4 different sets of friends.

Having travelled down from Auckland to the Coromandel yesterday, it was time now to reverse course and head back up to Northland. By tonight I would be in Waipu, but I had a full days caching before I could rest.

I hadn't initially intended to travel down this road, but on discovering a load of Challenge Caches along here I just had to do them, and any other caches along the way!

This was effectively a quick park and grab for me today. No problems parking up near GZ and walking over to find the cache exactly where it was supposed to be. I encountered no issues with either the container or the log, which was swiftly signed before the whole lot was replaced exactly as found.

Thanks for setting up this cache.

02-Apr-21
Nothing for sale on Good Friday so I felt pretty lucky to grab a red dot special.

25-Mar-21
Big red dot indeed... onwsrds and upwards.

25-Feb-21
Making my way along the road, probably should/could have done the left hand side caches on the way in, right hand caches on the way out? but no, took the direct approach, parking safely, and collecting the caches along the way Wink

Quick find, no problems with the dots, cache all good. Thanks G-2 for the hide and the adventure this afternoon, on my way to the water.... Big Grin

26-Jan-21
Lots of snails but easy to find. TFTC

26-Jan-21
There were snails, I threw the cache away!
OK I'm not that good at throwing so I picked it up, flicked the snails off with my pen, signed the log and put it back. Then ran screaming and yucking back to the car!

I wasn't intending on finding caches this evening but after I picked one up earlier I now have the bug. Not only that but I see that there are a couple of challenge caches near here that I have fulfilled the requirements for... so I guess I'm now geocaching this evening. Anyway, thanks to your hint I made a nice quick find here. The cache is in good condition and is holding up well. TFTC and Happy New Years!

21-Nov-20
Jag50 and I headed up to do all the caches along this road as well as other new ones in the area. Nice to see someone else has red dot specials besides Farmers!

21-Nov-20
Heading out to the Weiti walkway with Merlot58, we stopped to gather these caches along the way. A snail had attached itself to the cache, so we carefully opened the cache and replaced as we found it without disturbing the snail.

31-Oct-20
We can never pass up a red dot special and this one came with a bonus collection of snails so it was a double win. It brought to mind Mrs Coblet's favourite primary school lunchtime activity of picking snails off the tractor by the school dental clinic in Thames.

24-Oct-20
On a geocaching expedition from Nelson. Way back in February Isis58, no.13 and I planned a trip to Auckland for the planned Mega event. When Covid struck and the country went into lockdown we decided to wait and see what happened - - that was less hassle than trying to get refunds on our flights anyway. Well, of course the Mega event was cancelled but luckily for us, flying was an option again by Labour Weekend. We changed some of the details of our trip but decided we would fit in as much caching as we could. We were joined by Mrs SoBad. We visited some amazing places, fitted in some walks, came across lots of people - - lots of traffic too. A huge thank you to the COs for hiding caches which presented us with puzzles to solve, took us to great places, were cleverly camouflaged, were cunningly hidden - - sometimes in plain sight - - all of the above and of course an equal thank you for the ones that just gave us one more smilie. We really really appreciated them all. Thanks Big Grin!

Another quick park and grab as we make our way along the road. Keeps the numbers ticking over nicely. TFTC # 15,993

24-Oct-20
Great day for geocaching with inss
Piggy has been busy.
Thank you for the Cache

24-Oct-20
This was the third cache found on the road by the INSS. The cache was a quick find after crossing the road. We then decided to drive to the end of the road and cache back as we had crossed the road for the caches to date. We knew as we did it that we might still have to cross the road for others even if we did this. Signed as INSS.
Thanks.

23-Oct-20
Luckily a very quiet road today! TFTC!!

04-Oct-20
Visited family at Red beach and in the way back to Auckland stopped to do this series. Enjoyed the variety of hides. Keep me guessing. Thanks G2.

I was a little early for today's event, so I came over here to get the four caches I need to fulfill my 10* dot days (ten loops of the calendar) goal for this year. TFTC.

NZ Travellers have a big milestone in sight and a cache they are aiming for so they need to get their numbers up a bit for the stars to align at the right time. A plan was devised to hit this general area and a bonus of an event today! Weather was foggy when we started but the sun came out and we had a great day!

Thanks for the cache.

26-Sep-20
We are working our way to our milestone 6000th cache find and are planning a trip up north in October to celebrate, therefore a caching day, to get a few numbers, was planned with Keylev and Laval. What started as a foggy and/or cloudy day (we couldn't decide which) turned into a glorious sunny spring day and after caching our way to Long bay for an event, we headed north to get some power caching done!

Keylev and MrsZT did most of the caching duty here while MrZT was designated driver! TFTC!

26-Sep-20
Found whilst out with NZ Travellers and keylev.

It was a great day!

Thanks for the cache.

Red dot sale, recent, lockdown events dealt to that never-ending sale cycle. Allok here

Into the car doing some pork and garbs, and a few towards Silverdale. After the couple of hours of mingling, chatting and 'hosting', everyone dispersed to their own plans and agendas and I had a plan to head to the end of the track at Long Bay and back, caching as I went (of course). I reckon it took me a full 2 hours to get to tracks end, but only 40 minutes from there back to the car. The sun was out, and so were the other walkers but all good and not seen by anyone for any caches, super-stealth mode.

Quite an interesting geocaching day for me today in a number of ways. First up I'm hosting my awarded Celebration Event at Long Bay after the Covid-spoiling one was cancelled at Hobsonville a while back. And that also means I get to attend/find my first cache-type of Celebration event, a new cache Icon. And best of all I get to meet the geocaching community up here in the mighty Auckland area. I've cached here (in moderation) a few times over the last 13 years of living here in NZ, but never lived in the 'big smoke'. That all changed a couple of ,months ago and suddenly this target rich environment is starting to bear fruit (caches).
So, I was out of the house at around 0630 this morning with a wish to get some in before event a clock, which was all good as I managed a few finds early doors. All up today I managed just over 60 finds which was good, and after a misty start the sun attended and all was good, and hot. A D5 cache, meeting some new friends and a decent 15km walk was testament to a successful day, and a Silverdale Burger Fuel for a feed too, awesome-ness was experienced. I even managed to knock off the last few Smile puzzle finals to make my round face beam (geo-icon, not my real face!) T F T C all COs today.

20-Sep-20
The road was totally empty at 6am on a Sunday morning so it was a quick park and grab. I'm really enjoying getting a large a number of caches. I've exhausted my supply near home and I keep ending up driving an hour one way just to fill in dot days. TFTC Smile

That is awesome camouflage. T4TC

Mrs LC told me I was to take the elder Future Finder out of the house, through geocaching. Well, she didn't have to tell me twice! We headed up the northern motorway--away from the Harbour Bridge given the current issues--and headed for puzzle road. We parked up and I crossed over the road and executed a super quick find in the obvious spot. Cheers for the cache placement!

15-Sep-20
interested to see the new road. easy find. TFTC

We had a fun day out, our first really since the level 2.5 came in - popped up here to get these caches and managed to find them all which was great.

Pulled up here and Mrs Tuolei jumped out and got this one - no problems here and definitely didn't send up seeing red. Thanks for the cache, all good here.

Teamed up with AliGle and KirsTim today for an afternoon's caching around the Stillwater area. We met up at Stillwater, left a car there, drove around to Ara Weiti Road, collecting the caches along there, then walked the Okura Bush Walkway back to Stillwater. The logs were signed as V.A.K. as an acronym of our user names. All up it was a fun afternoon out! Another quick find here, TFTC!
