Rail trails really suit us as they are nice and flat. Rode to this one and made a quick find of another well maintained Duntulum cache. Not much of the old railway bridge left here.As far as we had time to ride today unfortunately.Thanks.
Thanks to Duntulum for placing this cache out here.
A pleasant short bike ride in the early morning filtered sunshine.
Cache spotted quickly on the ground. Log signed and rehid the cache.
A nice spot and an impressive bit of work from the high school kids in the bridge construction.

Arrived at the carpark at 5.50 pm. Took the torch along in case.
Thankfully a few hundred Kms to the west means more afternoon daylight hours and Mrs Riddell got to the cache in plenty of daylight.
Even so, the frogs were deafening…. Louder than a forest full of cicadas!!!
There was a great showing of bird’s around too.
Black Swans, Egrets, one white faced heron flying, and many others.
It’s been such a beautiful spring day, it’s been awesome walking this trail at twilight…. The place is alive, but no mosquitoes
Thankfully the cache was quickly spotted and retrieved from the upper deck.
There is more water here today than when I was here last time and posted a DNF… cache had floated away in the floods…see my photos.
Up until I reached GZ, I was fearful that this one may have gone the same way. There’s just water everywhere and it’s wonderful!
Duntulum, thanks for the cache and replacing it again.
It is a magnificent little walk.

On the way home from Halls Gap ( portion of GPT)
today.
This one vexed me last year in October when the massive 2022 flood started. So left it for drier times like today.
Had a lovely little morning walk appreciating the historical link with the Heatherlite quarry as well as the important wetlands here.
It is actually freezing cold, about 7 degrees with a spine chilling south westerly wind.
The GPT walkers encountered snow yesterday, going over Mt William. It was forecasted.
Had a really hard and long inspection at GZ, the hint narrowed it down but no prize.
Possibly washed away. There has been recent works on the trail for flood mitigation and wire fencing surrounding the board walk at “sea level” preventing debris and animals and humans to get close unless going over the fence wires or accessing through the metal steel wires from the top level.
Nothing was found above or below with a thorough search, sorry to say.

With the weather looking (and being) a lot better than it was meant to be. And the fact it was better than a couple of days ago. I headed out, Ararat, Stawell and Horsham for some "out of the way" caches.
Thankfully all the roads were opened (well the ones I had planned to drive down) and only water on the sides, nothing flowing over them.
A big day, big driving loop, lots of walking and a few more smilies to keep the numbers ticking over..
OMG what a walk. The wetlands were in full swing and flow, after the recent weeks rain. Lots of birds, frogs, mozzies and flies.
Great to walk up the train and seeing the old bridges.
Once at GZ cache was a quick find.

Spent some time looking for a sistema container until we realised the container had been changed.
Well worth the walk through the wetlands to finish our day off.

A nice walk with 2beez and geopups.
Great to see this trail highlighting the history and natives along the way.
Thanks Duntulum

One last walk. Had attempted this once before but ran out of time. Each time done this it has been very hot. It's a really nice walk. No need to take shortcuts.
Thanks for showing me this nice little trail.
Thanks for showing me this nice little trail.
Found during ride with family along the Grampians rail trail. Great place to stop and take a breather. TFTC.
A nice 3.5km return walk with the family today. The newish info boards added to the interest. Thanks Duntulum
Found, signed and returned. Large ants a long the part upset our youngest but cheered up after finding the cache
"FTF" at 2.30pm.
When we saw this cache published on Sunday it was belting down with rain and as we needed to come to Horsham for a dentist visit today we decided to leave this cache until the dentist was finished with for the day.
We are so pleased we did as today is sunny with little wind which made for a much more pleasant walk. On the walk we were serenaded by sulfur crested cockatoos, we startled two very large kangaroos and frogs talked to us when we reached the boardwalk.
We had our lunch at the parking co-ords before taking a round about drive through Halls Gap to get back home. Here we saw emu's and more emu's, they were everywhere. Paddocks that had more kangaroos in them then there was sheep. We had a deer cross the road in front of us and also two kangas.
