ItchyFeet2020, hadyn.seek, a selection of my sprogs, and I are on a post-event expedition to claim some more smilies. *(two new caches had been published at the conclusion of the Meet&Greet event held at a caf in town, which I think was a strategic move from the EventCO to clear the venue of attendees? )*Now we're pottering around Levin picking up odd ones for me or H.S or IF.As the driver, I was open to being given directions, but followed my own nose when no navigation was supplied - like to this one!Quick find at GZ once we ignored the "obvious" location on the other side of the path and focused where the compass was pointing to.Thanks for the hide D!
Out exploring with Ethermiss, Etherlord (our driver today) and haydn.seek. After leaving an event and finding some newly released caches we all had a couple of other ones we wanted as well. This was one of those. Thanks for the cache woolward9 - another levin one completed. One of these days I might rise to the level of having got everything around here - but I have a few to go before I reach that status - still lots of fun green dots and laneways to explore.
Mrs & I are down this way for a "date day". After sharing what she wanted to do, it's time for me to have my turn - by finding a couple of geocaches. After three DNFs, I've found one of this CO's geocaches - and then there is two found with this one.Another quick find - exactly where it should be. TFTC
I'm in Levin for the second day to clock a few caches for the Cosmic Quest but also to find caches for my last few hidden dates. One of the COs Alley caches will do the job. I didn't the first one so am very relieved to make a find here! Nice hide. TFTC woolwood9
Well, after an indomitable time, I was ready to give up finding this blighter. But big Sis was getting savvy. She crossed over to the other side, and before I knew, she said, "Found it!". Thank you Woolwood9.
This weekend is all about events. One in Levin, one in Wanganui. But first I stopped off in Waiterererere for some unfinshed business and spent the night there. (Waitererere is a bit like banananana - I am never sure when to stop). This morning I headed back into town for some early morning caching. I quite like alleyway caches, for their exploration component. In fact two of these alleyways - this is one - are not even marked on the maps. I'll fix that when I get home. I found 8 caches this morning and now I am filling in time waiting for the event by sitting in Adventure Park logging them. And it has only just turned 9am!
Apologies for the late log, was transferring to a new phone and realized that there were a number of caches that hadn't been logged online yet.In town with one of our sons for a national indoor hockey tournament and decided to grab some local caches between games. On a bit of a theme with these caches finding the hidden alleyways between the various streets that only the locals really know. Got better at spotting the entrances to these so managed to park up alongside and soon had the cache in hand. Thanks for the cache woolwood9
A small group of us from Team SEAC consisting of Keylev, Stik-A-Crane, Uncle Sam and ourselves had come down from Auckland to spend the long weekend caching in the Manawatu area. The plan was to get as many as possible. Along the way we had some great adventures, many laughs, met some interesting people and found a wide selection of caches. Signed SEAC to save space on the log. TFTC.This was day 4 of our trip and we headed South from our accommodation caching down SH 1 to Levin and back through the towns to Himatangi.A nice quick find here.
The hint clarified things here.....Day 4 of our caching trip to Palmerston North area with HeMaLuDy, UncleSamNZ, Keylev, and myself, signing in as SEAC or TEAM SEAC to save logbook space. A big thanks to all the CO's for cache placement and maintenance, making this trip the success that it was.TFTC.
Day #4 of the Team SEAC extra long weekend little road trip for Labour Weekend.Sorry my notes don't make sense for this one so can't say more than....thanks for the cache
Small group of caching buddies drove down from Auckland for the long weekend, and headed for Palmerston North area. Sorry for the generic posts, but we had so many caches to find.Had a great time, with so many laughs. Thanks to all the Cache owners who placed the caches. This was day 3 of our trip. All logs signed "SEAC" or "Team Seac"
A quick trip to Levin to get some caches this afternoon. Spotted after a brief search on the wrong side of the walkway. All good. Tftc!

Managed to spot something just poking out by the light of my torch. Thankfully it was the cache, so nice quick find. TFTC

After lunching with friends nearby, I made a quick stop but nature called and I had to cut short my search. Initial search thwarted by wavering GPS. One day I will return.
last of our finds for today after the medieval festival .

A nice quick find, as decribed in the hint. The coords were pretty good too. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Heading home and we are travelling from Levin to Wellington. A beautiful day, though a triffle warm at times!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Getting a few caches before an event nearby. Junior spotted this instantly, nice hide.
Thanks!
Thanks!
After finding number 2, it was only right to pop around the corner and find number 1. This one had and I scratching our heads for a few minutes. Then we each found a cache! I suspect the old cache is still in place and we also found the new one. We seem to be the first to have found the new edition (which was definitely the drier on the two). Great wee cache, thanks! KTG
Out with KTG finding a few caches in Levin. We found the cache around the corner. And then headed off to this one. For the first time ever we both shouted the usual excited "found it/got it" within seconds of each other. Each of us producing our own cache we had found. Not quite sure what happened but will message the CO and let them know where we found both of them. TFTC
Coordinates are a little bit off but I managed to find the cache after several minutes of searching thank you for the find!
Working graveyard shift in Levin and doing a couple of hours caching in between naps. Not doing well as second dnf. Looks like this one to good for me today
A nice little hide which took a wee while to spot, a few metres northeast of the coordinates for us. TFTC
Found the cache and had it in my hand as someone came into the alley. I turned my back to her and signed the log while trying to look like loitering in an alley is no big thing and replaced the cache once she had passed and couldn't see. Thanks for the hide woolwood9!
On our way south and in 2 minds in doing this last peak but decided its a good way to get out for a day. Thanks for the placement.
This one took a bit of searching but we got there in the end. TFTC woolwood9 # 18,109
Was also looking on the wrong side before reading some logs, and changing my perspective slightly. Nice hide here, cheers
Took a moment to work out where this one was on a seeming serile area. Then we spotted the tricky wee hiding place. Was with Crystal Fairy as we headed up to Palmerston North for a weekends caching. TFTC
Due to the postponement of the Auckland Mega, Buttels and the Crystal half decided to use the dates planned for the event to do some caching between Wellington and Palmy. Cache was lying on the floor so placed it back where we believed it should have been. Thanks for the cache
#12,501. Parked on Elizabeth Street in Levin for a short walk. Fortunately GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. This one took a bit of searching, initially on the wrong side of the laneway. Tried the other side and missed it initially. Eventually spotted the well placed hide. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

Finally , finally , finally , This was about my 4th attempt as i was tunneled visioned on the wrong side of the alley but finally , in desperation , i looked further a field - which i had had done in a fairly cursory manner - and there it was all very neatly , tucked away nice and safe and just waiting for me to find it . so i can now cnange this blue frown into a happy smiley face - at last ! Thank you for this cache.
I have found a few of these Levin alleyway caches now and I think they have all been different. I needed to be very quiet as there was somebody on the other side of the fence. It took a few minutes but I eventually spotted something and thought "ah ha!". The paperwork was soon taken care of and I was on my way again.
Stopping in Levin to pick up as many caches as possible. Parked up and got the bike out. So much easier to get about town, particularly with the alleyways and you see a lot more. First searched the wrong side then changed tack and found I had parked my bike right over it. Nice hide. Thanks for the smiley.
TFTC took us a little while, but was were I thought a good place to hide it would be. Nice little cache
A shady lane - everybody wants one, a shady lane - everybody needs one! Found with youngest son. We checked a few wrong spots first, then read over previous logs and son spotted the cache quickly after that. Nice hide. TFTC
Spending an afternoon caching in the Levin area. Sneaky hide, straightforward find. Thanks for placing the cache
Decided to clean up my remaining unfound caches around Levin on my day in the area today. Spotted this one fairly quickly. Signed log, TFTC.
Thanks woolwood9 for placing this cache
It was all quiet at GZ
Thanks for the cool cache.

Not such a quick find for us. After searching in the wrong spot for ages we spread out a little and found it immediately. Would have been an easier if we came fromthe other way
Took us a while. My GPS thought I was in the neighbours house which didnt help. Had we come at this from the other end it would have been very obvious. Good hide! Tftc
Find number two here and the clever cache was found fairly easily before continuing on.
I was heading south for my other hobby and naturally decided to get a few caches on the way. Only one DNF otherwise I managed 11 finds.

(# 6287). A trip to Levin this morning to grab some caches. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
Looked at a few possibilities here, then stopped to think things over and spotted something right in front of me and sure enough on grabbing it it was the cache.

#8418. Headed up today from Wellington to attend the GC event at Ohau celebrating the arrival of daylight saving. Travelling north with Infoferret. After doing the series of caches along Arapaepae Road we headed west and crossed the highway to check out newer caches placed on this side of the town. This was one of a series of alleyways that we visited today. Certainly a regal neighbourhood. Good that they created these shortcuts for kids to use on their way to the the school.
We parked nearby and wandered down the path to GZ. There seemed to be one promising spot where we searched carefully but without success. Widened the search but nothing came to light. Cane back close to where we started and then IF spied the cunningly concealed cache even lower down than I expected. I must admit I had discounted that side of the path. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks woolwood9 for hiding it here. You have been very busy in Levin giving us lots of interesting caches to find. Enjoying exploring the lesser known parts of the town. Lots of kowhai and cherry blossoms out in fully glory this weekend. Its a great time of year to visit Levin. Favourite for this regal cache.

We parked up as close as we could and headed down the second alleyway for us today.
Mr rattll was doing well spotting the trickier hides today and soon had this one in hand.
Thanks for putting this here for us to find.

All present and correct!!
Will increase the difficulty rating as there seems to be a few DNFs

Spiderhouse and Kiwirupen teamed up to go geocaching while the men were in their meeting and some of the other ladies were content with their coffee and cake. Neither of us could find this one which was a shame.
Nice drive around with blair137 & woolwood9
We soon had the cache located.
Good hint for a quick find.

Who would have thought that if you want to visit some Wonders of the Modern World you would go to Levin, Horowhenua, New Zealand? But that's the weird and wonderful world of geocaching for you!
Even though the weather was not so promising today we experienced no problems - there were the odd spits of rain but mostly it was fine, mild and calm - perfect caching weather in fact.
Many thanks to woolwood9 for placing a number of caches recently in Levin. We're certainly getting to know many little aspects of the town. We got all six caches we sought today and were able to complete the Modern Wonders souvenir requirements as well as get 2/3 of the Ancient Wonders credited to us.
We soon located the neat little cache here, and appreciated its useful tab. A FP for this and the increased caching opportunities provided woolwood9. TFTC

Out and about in Levin with Flowerydaze. I'm pleased to say this was a QEF by me while FD was looking in the wrong place. TFTC WW9.
Out with Talla64 checking out a few caches. A quick find, all good here. Thanks for the cache woolwood9.
Was making my way to Palmerston North and working my way north, I decided that since I was in the area and I had finished my appointment early I would check the GPSr and see what caches new caches has being placed in Levin since I was here last time.
After finding GC8XXKB - Bone Graveyard, I was still a bit early for my next appointment, and since I was in Levin, I decided to check my GPSr and soon spotted this cache and since I was still in Levin I decided that I would go and check out this cache as it was not too far from where I was at the moment.
After a short drive, I decided to park on Duke Road and make my way to GZ from there, as I was making my way along Duke Road I soon spotted the walkway entrance and decide to go up the road a bit more and soon found a safe spot to do a U turn and then it was time to find a parking spot, and I managed to find a safe parking spot across the road from the entrance of the walkway.
Once I got out of the car and started making my way towards GZ I decided to check the hint and soon spotted a likely spot not too far away and as I arrived at GZ, I had a quick look and soon spotted the likely hiding spot and I soon spotted something and soon realised that it was the cache.
Managed to retrieve the cache, extracted the logbook, signed and then returned the cache back to where I found it. Thanks woolwood9 for placing this very clever camo cache here and for bringing me to this spot. TFTC TNLNSL (15311). Was glad that it didn’t take too long to find this cache as this area could be muggle central at times
Now it is time to go back to the car and start making my way to my next appointment for the day.............

Lovely day for a drive to Levin with Mrs Popmac to find four caches for my personal challenge. Thanks woolwood9 for the cache.
Last cache of the afternoon before heading out to Hokio Beach for a look-see. Took me somewhat longer than it should have -either the brain or the geo-sense -maybe both- seemed to have logged off for the day.
Thanks woolwood9 for today's caches, made the trip up a successful one!

Well that was an unexpected trip. I was just settling in to playing the local Tuesday night pub quiz when I simultaneously got a notification of a new cache, and the power went out at the pub. Left with nothing to do, I thought "why not drive to Levin?" So I did. After findingthe first cache I thought I'd hunt down a few more. A nice evening and all quiet here which made stealth tricky given how close the houses are. Eventually found the cache, all safe and dry as expected. TFTC.
Another fab day for a walk and cache. Quick find, never knew these ally ways were here. Tftc

Ping! And another cache gets published in Levin. I'm loving all these new placements, as either a chance for a FTF or else as an easy way to fulfill a dot day. I'm often torn between which option to choose, and as often as not someone else gets to make that decision for me by being faster off the mark!
But not today. I received a heads-up from a mate that there had been a new one published. Damn, I'm at work! Ah well, they won't miss me for 10 minutes and off I went.
"Now if this was my cache, where would I place it?" went through my head as I was approaching GZ. Ahh yes, right there.
Nice to find the log still blank and soon added my mark before replacing as found.
Thanks woolwood9 for yet another positive twist to my day
