Heading home after our trip away for the winter. Stopped nearby last night so we could grab a few around this area.Staying nearby so we could get out and do some of the bike trail over the next few days. Not on my own bike so it was alot harder going but found all of the hides and a nice place to cycle. Thanks for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
Today I needed to try and find 15 caches for my daily target to get to 22k by the end of 2023. So I decided on a Xmas bike ride. The bike ride reminded me I am quite a lot unfit, the terrain was much hillier () than I anticipated. I had to push the bike up some of the hills but it was fun going back down them on the way back.I cycled out to the furthest cache and then cached my way back to Railton. Nice 16 finds for the morning.Back to Beryl the Moho for scrambled eggs and Tassie salmon on muffins. I had earned it!!!Nice quick finds on all the caches too.Great little series looking forward to the rest of them when we visit Sheffield in the New Year.TFTC
Our last find for the day. After being muggled out by a guy parked right at GZ on way up, he had finally moved on by the time we returned and could make the quick find.TFTC
Beware of the big blackberry canes, they're dangerous. A quick find with the aid of the hint. TFTC
Easy find TFTC I wish I had a bike so i could ride this trail. Maybe another time.
It is a habit of mine to not conform and this is a good example. Starting in Sheffield on the 16th I decided to do this one backwards and took a few days off in the middle. At first I was a bit clumsy, trying to get the caches without taking off my big heavy hiking pack full of camping and cooking gear. At one point I tripped and did a somersault into a soft grassy ditch, pack and all. From that point I began taking it off to retrieve the hides. It was good exercise.
There was some wildlife, tiger snakes, one was on a cache, and a jack jumper nest under a cache.
All in all, it was a great geocache trail and an excellent walking track with caves and waterfalls.
Thank you Angus88!

Another convenient hide and find. Finally made it back to Railton to walk some more Tasmanian Trail cum Mountain Bike Trail cum old railway line. A good clean dry hide. Thanks for this trail of caches Angus88
Heading home so decided to go via Railton and grab a few caches and this was one of them. I know this trail exists but had not done this part of it. So decided to give it a go. It was a nice day for caching today a bit wet and not raining. TFTC. Cache and content in good condition.
out caching with the Rafa family in the north of the state, TFTC TNLN log dry, a cool weekend with lots of caches on the list.
Thank you for the cache Angus88.
Staying in Sheffield for the weekend with RLD4963 and the two GeoGSP's.
RLD4963 had done a small section of the Railton-Sheffield rail trail during a visit in February. We have always planned to come back and spend a weekend here so we could attempt the remaining sections of the trail. Today was the day!
The track had some wet sections today, but nothing terrible. This was a nice quick find.

It was a Big enjoyable day out caching with ANNAGJW on a nice Sunny winter's day (even managed to get sunburnt). Have had this on our to-do list for some time, so with Anna trying to make it to find her 300th by the end of the month we finally organised a caching day together.! I found my 1100th cache along the way. Nice to get out and have a good day doing caching after not finding many in the last year. Couldn't pick a better day to be out with it being International Geocaching day.
Started at the Sheffield end and worked our way down to Railton. 52 finds including an adventure lab. With only 1 DNF we were happy with the day.
Thanks, Angus88 for placing all these caches for our enjoyment.
Easy find

Nice fast find as we started to loose light, the torches were now out. Thanks so much for placing this cache trail Angus88
We have planned this day so many times before and finally today on Geocaching World Record day, CoxFamily7310 and I were able to head out on our Railton to Sheffield adventure together.
We found 52 caches, my highest number in one day!! Our day also included, walking a few km (got a beautiful blister to show for these ), an adventure lab, replaced a cache for another CO, some easy finds, some crazy coords, some slips, slides and falls, crawling in caves, jumping creeks, caching by torch and only a couple of DNFs.
We started at Sheffield today and worked our way back to Railton, completing the track in reverse.
Massive thanks also to CoxFamily7310 for an amazing day

Thanks for the cache and Angus 88. I've taken a strong up the trail towards Sheffield. This is my second cache along this trail, probably do one more before I turn back. I didn't find the bison tube perhaps if you could make a minor modification it would help me out, paint the tube hot pink and erect a 3M by 3M yellow sign with a big arrow "here it is!". Thanks, regards from Victourer
11km run has me pretty tired. Looking forward to a snack and the ride home. Thanks
Ģood little stash, found a marble, left a bracelet and a fidget cube. Was next to my house.
a quick find here on foot, we had no vehicle!
It was TazScout who first mentioned the idea of doing the Sheffield to Railton rail trail caches. I suggested this weekend to tie in with a CITO in Devonport that I had organized to attend, and a plan came together fairly quickly. Hotel rooms were scarce around the area but we managed to find a place to accommodate stainless steel rat, the egg and I. TazScout has a busy weekend so drove out to meet us for the day.
As always, our day started with coffee whilst we did a car shuffle before starting at 'The End'. We talked non-stop as we walked, it had been a long time since all five of us had been together and we had a lot of news to catch up on. The company was great, the weather was perfect, and we really couldn't have asked for a better day.
Thanks for all the caches today.

After a little bit of a walk around the cache was soon found.
This weekends adventures was instigated by TazScout with a discussion/statement 'Day Walk' followed by a map of the area around Sheffield and Railton on the 8th of April, after we all talked to our significant others and arrangements made and diaries double and triple checked we had a sort of plan on the 15th and accommodation was booked for a busy weekend of walking between Sheffield and Railton collecting those caches along with any other GC or GCA we could find the time to grab as we were in the area.
Along with a wonderful walk we had time to catch up with friends and find some great caches, so a perfect use of our time, i think we all were better for a caching weekend and swear we wont leave it as long next time, thanks to all the CO's for making this trip possible.
Thanks for the cache.

Had a day out with Stainless Steel Rat and Goose & Egg. Decided we'd tackle the Railton/Sheffield run. Of course we picked the busiest weekend of the month with three events in the area one of which being cycling so we had plenty of company on the track.
I'm afraid I"m going to have to send a long run of very boring log posts. If the cache was big enough I left a Scout behind but otherwise all my notes on each find have vanished into my phone storage so I"m relying on memory. Perhaps our Co-conspirators can fill in any blanks. Thanks for a great run of finds with no DNFs in sight.

Found it. Although it was hidden more like 1 and 0.5 metres from the respective tracks.
Parkrun goes along this track and after passing by GZ on my run, returned after coffee to grab the cache.
No problems finding this fella, all in good order.
As always, thanks for the incredible effort and task of placing these caches. It's a fantastic series.

18 January 2021. Log replaced with a new one in a second container in an effort to keep it dry. Please replace cache carefully. Thank you.
This area of caches had been selected to be done after the Community Event held at Latrobe a couple of weeks ago but as it was pouring with rain we left them. Today we headed out with Tassie Trekkers in glorious sunshine to find them. The coords did wander a bit so we were pleased with the detailed hints. A lovely trail. Thanks for placing and sharing this area with us. TFTC
Today we targeted this series of caches with whitewebbs that form part of the Tasmanian Trail between Sheffield and Railton. We started early when the breeze was cool but soon became hotter as we worked our way to Railton.
Some were easy to find, but others took some time as we had trouble with co-ords. Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

A trip to Launceston and Devonport on Thursday and Friday with a a night in Launceston. Thursday was work and Friday was a day off, so I took advantage of the new caches in Devonport and Railton for a run on my way to my target of 500 finds for the year. After a very successful day, I came home with 58 cache finds and 2 and nature lab stages.... so 60 which was a good day considering I was home by 7pm. Thursday weather wasn’t very good, so little was down after work, but Friday was a perfect day for caching. Not to hot not raining.
Really enjoyed a walk along the Tasmanian trail. And all was good until on the back roads to Railton, where one stop I was surprised by a tiger snake, which luckily didn’t seem interest3d in me. To be honest it was about 10 metres away, but going Parallel to my walking path.... I don’t like snakes.
Anyway. Managed to finish The Tasmanian trail whole series which deserves the huge favourite point.

Heading north for a few days, no real plan, by the look of the weather that will most likely determine what we do.
The weather was looking good so we decided to see how far we would get in this series. We decided to start at the end.....as you do. The start was very wet but improved the further we went along the track.
All good and quick find.

Could have had the dogs off lead during the first part of today's walk but it was a bit too warm and we were worried about snakes so they did they return walk on lead. They weren't particularly happy about that but the vet bills for snake bite are too expensive.
I was getting this one a bike rider went past. Don't think he took any particular notice of me though.
Thanks, a quick find made here.

Being such a nice day I decided to catch up on caches yet to be found in the Latrobe area, Having time to spare I decided to detour to look for some of the rail trail caches. Thank you for the time and effort you have undertaken in setting up this series of caches.
After having lunch with the Angus88 and GeoMaggie in Sheffield, we decided to do a small amount of shopping before heading home. Whilst Mrs y'stassie was making her purchases, there were repeated signals on the phone indicating that a number of new caches had been published, When we looked we discovered that the series that Angus88 had been working on for some time had finally been published. Despite heavy rain, we decided to attempt as many caches as we could that were drive bys. So we picked our starting point, downloaded some of the data and headed off to the Stoodley Forest.
As it was still raining quite heavily and there was very low cloud, we decided that one of us would do the hunting whilst the other got the information for later caches. It was probably the weather conditions today, but in all instances out GPS was slow to settle but the hints were very useful and led to quick finds. Each of the caches was well prepared with each logbook in a separate sealed bag.
This cache was a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Angus88 for a series that has taken a lot of planning and preparation. No leeches here today
The bonus this time was the seventh Modern Wonders of the World that we were seeking. We were surprised that in the fifteen caches we visited, we were able to find all seven of the required wonders. A real bonus.
It was now 16:10. We had just enough time to get home and prepare tea for our daughter who comes each Thursday evening. All in all, a great afternoon.
