Heading home after our trip away for the winter. Stopped nearby last night so we could grab a few around this area.Staying nearby so we could get out and do some of the bike trail over the next few days. Not on my own bike so it was alot harder going but found all of the hides and a nice place to cycle. I started searching on the wrong side of the road but hubby found it.Thanks for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
Today we are in Railton and will be here for Christmas. Very nice little town and thus far very peaceful. Our first stop was the Seven Sheds Brewery where we enjoyed a cleansing ale (anything to keep the husband happy). Then on to caches. I need to find 15 per day to get to my 22000 target by year end. So will need to do a bike ride tomorrow to get a few out of the way early on. We realized some of the bike ones are on a road so added them to the list for today then not so many to have to get tomorrow. We found all the caches we looked for today and enjoyed the topiary.TFTC
Hubby was searching on the wrong side of the road. Wifey parked the car and went straight to it. TFTC
A quick find with the aid of the hint, lots of traffic on the road nearby but noone taking any notice of us here. TFTC
The 3 beautiful horses in the nearby paddock were good company while resting under a shady tree.
It is a habit of mine to not conform and this is a good example. Starting in Sheffield on the 16th I decided to do this one backwards and took a few days off in the middle. At first I was a bit clumsy, trying to get the caches without taking off my big heavy hiking pack full of camping and cooking gear. At one point I tripped and did a somersault into a soft grassy ditch, pack and all. From that point I began taking it off to retrieve the hides. It was good exercise.
There was some wildlife, tiger snakes, one was on a cache, and a jack jumper nest under a cache.
All in all, it was a great geocache trail and an excellent walking track with caves and waterfalls.
Thank you Angus88!

Heading home so decided to go via Railton and grab a few caches and this was one of them. I know this trail exists but had not done this part of it. So decided to give it a go. It was a nice day for caching today a bit wet and not raining. TFTC. Cache and content in good condition.
It was a Big enjoyable day out caching with ANNAGJW on a nice Sunny winter's day (even managed to get sunburnt). Have had this on our to-do list for some time, so with Anna trying to make it to find her 300th by the end of the month we finally organised a caching day together.! I found my 1100th cache along the way. Nice to get out and have a good day doing caching after not finding many in the last year. Couldn't pick a better day to be out with it being International Geocaching day.
Started at the Sheffield end and worked our way down to Railton. 52 finds including an adventure lab. With only 1 DNF we were happy with the day.
Thanks, Angus88 for placing all these caches for our enjoyment.
Easy find, the horse came to say hallo to us

Super fast find. Beautiful horse came to check us out, but wasn't interested in a pat. Thanks so much for placing this cache trail Angus88
We have planned this day so many times before and finally today on Geocaching World Record day, CoxFamily7310 and I were able to head out on our Railton to Sheffield adventure together.
We found 52 caches, my highest number in one day!! Our day also included, walking a few km (got a beautiful blister to show for these ), an adventure lab, replaced a cache for another CO, some easy finds, some crazy coords, some slips, slides and falls, crawling in caves, jumping creeks, caching by torch and only a couple of DNFs.
We started at Sheffield today and worked our way back to Railton, completing the track in reverse.
Massive thanks also to CoxFamily7310 for an amazing day

And I’ve completed the road! The gps was very confused on this one but soon enough I found it!
Time to get back to this trail of cahes, having previously only bagged a small parcel higher up the trail. Started with Falls Walk, and now going downhill (although not on bikes). Thanks Angus88 for our outing today.
My favourite find of the day due to this guy watching over me. I found it hard to sign the paper because I didn’t want to rip it out. Also being watched by a car so left it. Found tho
Found Out and about with 1 Lil Rafa caching for the GC reach the peak game what a lovely three days we had with a trip to tasmazia a trip to Burnie and accommodation at sassafras. TFTC TNLN log dry
Thanks for the cache Angus88.
RLD4963 and I were off to the northwest coast for a couple of days for some geocaching, and to attend a friend's play in Burnie on Saturday night.
After enjoying the play last night, today we decided to grab a few more caches as we made our way back to Hobart.
We headed to Railton hoping to make a start on the Railton-Sheffield rail trail series of caches.
This was our first for the morning - sure enough, after parking and locating the cache, a couple of MTB'ers appears from behind and rode past us. Definitely noticed the increase of MTB'ing in the area.

Grandaughter 7th birthday and she wanted to bike ride and geocache and what better place
We didnt find this one when we dropped the car off, but we made a quick find now we are back at the car for lunch.
This weekends adventures was instigated by TazScout with a discussion/statement 'Day Walk' followed by a map of the area around Sheffield and Railton on the 8th of April, after we all talked to our significant others and arrangements made and diaries double and triple checked we had a sort of plan on the 15th and accommodation was booked for a busy weekend of walking between Sheffield and Railton collecting those caches along with any other GC or GCA we could find the time to grab as we were in the area.
Along with a wonderful walk we had time to catch up with friends and find some great caches, so a perfect use of our time, i think we all were better for a caching weekend and swear we wont leave it as long next time, thanks to all the CO's for making this trip possible.
Thanks for the cache.

Last one before lunch. A farmer was in a field but the stealthy TazScouts retrieved and replaced the cache without him seeing!
It was TazScout who first mentioned the idea of doing the Sheffield to Railton rail trail caches. I suggested this weekend to tie in with a CITO in Devonport that I had organized to attend, and a plan came together fairly quickly. Hotel rooms were scarce around the area but we managed to find a place to accommodate stainless steel rat, the egg and I. TazScout has a busy weekend so drove out to meet us for the day.
As always, our day started with coffee whilst we did a car shuffle before starting at 'The End'. We talked non-stop as we walked, it had been a long time since all five of us had been together and we had a lot of news to catch up on. The company was great, the weather was perfect, and we really couldn't have asked for a better day.
Thanks for all the caches today.

Had a day out with Stainless Steel Rat and Goose & Egg. Decided we'd tackle the Railton/Sheffield run. Of course we picked the busiest weekend of the month with three events in the area one of which being cycling so we had plenty of company on the track.
I'm afraid I"m going to have to send a long run of very boring log posts. If the cache was big enough I left a Scout behind but otherwise all my notes on each find have vanished into my phone storage so I"m relying on memory. Perhaps our Co-conspirators can fill in any blanks. Thanks for a great run of finds with no DNFs in sight.

No problems finding this fella, all in good order.
As always, thanks for the incredible effort and task of placing these caches. It's a fantastic series.

22nd January 2021. A maintenance run on the Railton to Sheffield Series finds the GOSS ROAD cache in place and in good order. However, the log has been replaced with the 'double cache' system where the log is in a second container in the cache. This is in an effort to keep the log dry.
Was out for a Sunday afternoon drive and found a few caches in the area, bit slow logging these. Quick find, amazing how many new caches are in this area since I was last out this way.

This area of caches had been selected to be done after the Community Event held at Latrobe a couple of weeks ago but as it was pouring with rain we left them. Today we headed out with Tassie Trekkers in glorious sunshine to find them. The coords did wander a bit so we were pleased with the detailed hints. A lovely trail. Thanks for placing and sharing this area with us. TFTC
Today we targeted this series of caches with whitewebbs that form part of the Tasmanian Trail between Sheffield and Railton. We started early when the breeze was cool but soon became hotter as we worked our way to Railton.
Some were easy to find, but others took some time as we had trouble with co-ords. Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

We did the top end of this road late yesterday , so now circling back round to complete this stretch
A trip to Launceston and Devonport on Thursday and Friday with a a night in Launceston. Thursday was work and Friday was a day off, so I took advantage of the new caches in Devonport and Railton for a run on my way to my target of 500 finds for the year. After a very successful day, I came home with 58 cache finds and 2 and nature lab stages.... so 60 which was a good day considering I was home by 7pm. Thursday weather wasn’t very good, so little was down after work, but Friday was a perfect day for caching. Not to hot not raining.
Really enjoyed a walk along the Tasmanian trail. And all was good until on the back roads to Railton, where one stop I was surprised by a tiger snake, which luckily didn’t seem interest3d in me. To be honest it was about 10 metres away, but going Parallel to my walking path.... I don’t like snakes.
Anyway. Managed to finish The Tasmanian trail whole series which deserves the huge favourite point.
Nice little hide. Obvious to a cache hidden from public.

Heading north for a few days, no real plan, by the look of the weather that will most likely determine what we do.
The weather was looking good so we decided to see how far we would get in this series. We decided to start at the end.....as you do. The start was very wet but improved the further we went along the track.
Another one we drove close to GZ. Quick find.

Between the two Beetles, working one each way today this was the last cache to be found.
And would have been the last cache in the series except we now have the two unfound extras to return and do some time soon.
As we did these tracks we were also scoping them out for a potential bike ride with muggle friends so we might leave them two until that bike ride is organised.
Thanks for a wonderful series and in the words of Arnie - "We'll be Back!"

Being such a nice day I decided to catch up on caches yet to be found in the Latrobe area, Having time to spare I decided to detour to look for some of the rail trail caches. Thank you for the time and effort you have undertaken in setting up this series of caches.

After having lunch with the Angus88 and GeoMaggie in Sheffield, we decided to do a small amount of shopping before heading home. Whilst Mrs y'stassie was making her purchases, there were repeated signals on the phone indicating that a number of new caches had been published, When we looked we discovered that the series that Angus88 had been working on for some time had finally been published. Despite heavy rain, we decided to attempt as many caches as we could that were drive bys. So we picked our starting point, downloaded some of the data and headed off to the Stoodley Forest.
As it was still raining quite heavily and there was very low cloud, we decided that one of us would do the hunting whilst the other got the information for later caches. It was probably the weather conditions today, but in all instances out GPS was slow to settle but the hints were very useful and led to quick finds. Each of the caches was well prepared with each logbook in a separate sealed bag.
The coordinates for this cache looked incorrect. They placed the cache close to Newbed Road, well away from Goss Road. This is the area where Mrs y'stassie grew up and she knew Goss Road very well. So we chanced our luck and tried S41 22 instead of S41 21 for the South degrees and minutes. We went there and with the aid of the hint, made a quick find. Hence we can confirm that the coordinates are S 41° 22.138 E 146° 24.247. Hopefully they will be updated soon. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Angus88 for a series that has taken a lot of planning and preparation.
