Such a nice day out today with buckoraider! The cache is reachable.. still I think in 1-2 years the blackberries will finally close the pathway around it The location its pretty spectacular! Thanks TE for bringing me here
I dunno how you find these places Tankengine! This was another absolute beauty, something Ive driven past a million and one times, totally oblivious to its existence.I spose those Harmanians did need water all those years ago! Treaded carefully at ground zero and eventually made the find. Jolly good stuff, thank you!
Interesting old infrastructure. Fortunately it no longer operates! Cache found all OK. Thanks
Decided to check on this today, and it was missing! So I replaced it!
GOOD TO GO!!!
GOOD TO GO!!!
I conducted a thorough search of all of the 'easier' and logical spots. Now, where would TE hide something? I bet on the 'control box' first and came up empty handed. I was almost certain that would be the spot and that the 'scuba' reference was a TE red herring. Then I checked all the uprights for telltale signs. Not there either. Having exhausted those options, along with several others. I descended into the stink and slime of the 'well'. I inspected a few obvious things and had a poke around but no.luck there either! I will watch this one with interest! Am I cache blind? Or is it missing? Thanks anyway TE. A fP coming your way when I find it!
#3192 Once again negotiating a cachers nightmare of blackberries (and yes, we did approach this the hard way) we finally found our way and reached this random artefact. I had an inkling was was rewarded with a quick find. Thank you TE!
A nice find here with the company of previous finders on a blustery caching expedition.
Thanks, Tankengine!
Thanks, Tankengine!
Very nice. Watch your step! Don't try to squeeze through the fence. The gate's unlocked! TFTC!
Came back today after not finding it yesterday. Guarded by a fence, blackberries and spiders . TFTC
Woohoo, avenged a previous DNF. Love the mysterious abandoned industrial aesthetic of this cache site.
TFTC!

A cool, windy afternoon, but I cycled to here for my exercise and also to remove a DNF. No sign of the magpie today. Maybe too windy for it. This is a good cache to cycle to being on the bike path, and the two open gates off the bike path. I had spoken to a previous finder and had my search area narrowed down. They didn't tell me everything. I had searched this spot, as one of several places I checked out last visit, but obviously not well enough [:o)] . Having the area narrowed down (and this time not misled by the hint ), today it was a quick find. Tricky though to retrieve and harder to return. Two people would find this easier, but I was alone. I used my head (with bicycle helmet) though, literally. Then I checked out a nearby cache, but too wet today and not dressed for it. I will need to return for that one. Nice to change to . TFTC Tankengine.
I cycled over to this one for today's allowed exercise. Only got dived by a magpie five times. Last trip this way in spring, it was a dozen times. I suspect not the same magpie. This one was lower down the aggression scale.
I was pleased to find both gates open and I could wheel my bike to GZ. Then it went down hill . I searched around, poked a stick in, looked for a tie, bumped my head four times on an overhead pipe; was wearing a bike helmet so okay, but couldn't find a cache. I am suspicious it might be hidden where I wasn't prepared to go. Will return with gloves, although maybe longer plastic bags might give more reach. DNF .

What and unusual hide, never knew this was here. I guess its important for the down stream users.
I had made a good guess where the hide was but missed it on first look. After a circuit I found it on the second go.
Bit concerned the item could have turned into a guillotine but kept one hand firmly in place on holding duties.
Thanks TS for another one of those eye opening caches.

I should have followed my gut feeling and looked more closely before aborting and looking elsewhere.
I think I mentioned elsewhere that I love lost places.

Dropping Pebbles in town for a course gave me another chance for some more west side caching. I had spotted these along the road side as possible subjects for todays collection (in combination with the neaby AL station).
I couldn't find anything at the Hideout so I though I do this one first and PAFed for a hint. A short walk after I was at a nice location and soon found the tricky hide. A nice lost place type place here and a good hide for the cache!
Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Today was event day with three to get to. It was great to have the chance to see people at each and for Throsbyonchurch for arranging two and Sol De Lune for the 5 year birthday ! It was interesting that there were different attendees at each.
In between the second and third event I talked Fitzy_1965 & MinneK into visiting these two caches I thought would be hard. This second one was on a very interesting object and well worth the visit amongst the blackberries.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine

Headed into Canberra with fitzy_1965 for a day of events.
In-between events, we teamed up with albida33 for a couple of out of the way hides.
Quick find here today.....and, of course, we found the easier way in on the way out.

We couldn't miss attending three different types of events in a day, so in towards Canberra we went, and after stopping at the lookout at Lake George at the lookout for the first one, and Mt Ainslie for the second one, we had some time up our sleeves before the third one. So we then headed off with albida to grab a few traditionals before the third event. This was an another interesting cache to find, and an interesting area to visit.
Thanks Tankengine !!

Interesting spot. Quick find at gz though I think it was more luck than skill. TFTC.
TFTC Great day for caching today, thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache.
Wow, that's two for two! This category of cache is also in my top 5 favourites, for a completely different reason however! I was once again impressed when I reached GZ and then made the find on the well hidden cache which was just as fun as discovering this abandoned gem.
Top hide, top location, you'd also be silly not to give this a favourite! Astounded how I am only the second person, I obviously have different ideas of awesome locations than others
Thanks Tankengine

Had a bit of time to kill while the young fella was at Army Cadets. A quick find tonight. TFTC
I needed a cache for the day and for some reason we thought this would be great to do at night!
So I picked up Aquilus1 and we drove down and parked near the bus shelter, which late at night wasn't a big issue.
We walked down first to another near by cache, just to check it out, but it was SO not doable tonight. After having a good look around we headed back along the track to this one.
As we came to the open gates there were a loud noises in the blackberries just on the other side. Our logic was that it had to be a wombat to make that much noise and no human would ever be able to go through those blackberries without screaming too. So we continued toward the scary noises.
As we reached GZ all went quiet, that sort of made me more nervous than the noise. But again logic stated that there are no tigers and lions in Australia so it wasn't like something was about to pounce on us.
At GZ I was able to make a quick enough find and sign. What an amazing piece of history here. I love old rusty stuff. So many stories it could hold. After a few photos we were then off back to the car. Tftc Tankengine!!!

After an 8km caching walk around Barrer Hill in the morning, and then a 5+km walk/run orienteering around Cooleman ridge, I spent the rest of the afternoon caching to top up my find numbers for the day. A quick find here. Then scoped out the nearby cache but decided to leave that for another time. TFTC.

Early away from work today and as I was heading towards Queanbeyan to collect a few puzzles I took the opportunity to stop by and take a look at this one.
There are some curious relics around GZ, with a myriad of potential hides but I managed to lay my hands on the niftily located cache within a couple of minutes.

**This Cache**
After spending the day cycling in Kowen Forest we decided to pickup just two more caches on the way home. On this side of the road there is plenty of parking and traffic lights across the highway , perfect for safe passage during peak hour.
We hesitated to enter the enclosure at the GZ location but soon realised that we had no choice if we wanted to locate the prize. Very interesting infrastructure around here most of which we were familiar with given the era in which we were born - LOL . Quick find at GZ with luck on our side. TFTC Tankengine.
**Our Day**
Up late this morning, so I sent out a few SMS' to confirm our previously planned 'easy' walk day. Tiredness led to a misunderstanding and Plan 'B' (next Tuesday's adventure) was agreed to with no one wanting to disappoint the other - LOL . So, in the end both today’s Plans 'A' and Plan 'B' were completed as we all had our mountain bikes .
This adventure ended up being an easy ride, on excellent dirt roads, despite there being a significant amount of water flowing besides and across our tracks, and howling icy cold winds - at times. In total we cycled just on 20km with 505m of ascent/descent in just under 4 hours. Our main goal was the new Tankengine cache on the border so we also picked up a handful of caches along the way and a few others on the way home. After finding this new border cache we went on to ride another 14km to pick up the 'walk back in time 1-5' group of caches. Into the car we stopped off at the Harman site to pick up a couple more caches.
Throughout the day we enjoyed the views back across to the white peaks of the Brindabellas and Namadgi mountain ranges thanks to fresh snow falls. Saw a few kangaroos, a wallaby and a few flock of birds. Mid morning we saw plenty of runners and several bike riders out for some great exercise including one guy out setting up an orienteering trail so we bumped into him several times at either end of Kowen Forest.

An interesting location that must have been an important piece of a large system at one stage years ago .
Plenty of old relics and hide spots for a cache .
Don’t think this will ever get muggled .
Thanks to Tankengine for the location highlight and sneaky hide.

Another marvellous location you drive past but just never see. Had a bit of a looksee before settling in on GZ. Found signed and replaced the cache before a little more investigation of the site. TNLNSL TFTC
*FTF* at 10:58, with Aquilus1
We were a little distracted when this came out, but thankfully not too far away. Mosied on over to grab this as the nearby Flying Fox....

*FTF* 10.58 am with GreyHams. The publication timing wasn't the most convenient but being so close we decided we could get back to things after. GreyHams navigated to a good stopping spot and we soon had ourselves at what is left to see. Its actually a great cache location and after taking the stairs GH soon had the nicely hidden cache located. Thanks for the cache Tankengine!
