Heading home after our trip away for the winter. Stopped nearby last night so we could grab a few around this area.Staying nearby so we could get out and do some of the bike trail over the next few days. Not on my own bike so it was alot harder going but found all of the hides and a nice place to cycle. Thanks for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
Today we are in Railton and will be here for Christmas. Very nice little town and thus far very peaceful. Our first stop was the Seven Sheds Brewery where we enjoyed a cleansing ale (anything to keep the husband happy). Then on to caches. I need to find 15 per day to get to my 22000 target by year end. So will need to do a bike ride tomorrow to get a few out of the way early on. We realized some of the bike ones are on a road so added them to the list for today then not so many to have to get tomorrow. We found all the caches we looked for today and enjoyed the topiary.Found whilst doing the nearby AL all about Norman. TFTC
All we can say for this area is wow. This was one of those serendipitous moments when you discover some totally cool that was totally unexpected. We had not read anything about this area and had no idea these sculptures were here. This place just screams for an adventurous multi or puzzle cache with a suitably crafted hide.TFTC
Found while doing the AL nearby. Didn’t have a pen but added a photo of the log.
This is rather a special place and really peaceful. I wandered around completing the adventure lab then this traditional to finish off.
Thanks Angus88
Thanks Angus88
Out for a walk on a rainy day. Quick easy find. Signed log book TTM and replaced as found. TFTC.
Thanks for the cache! Found on our trip around Australia with our cat Willow Really interesting place!
Picnic table hiding in the bush, quick sighting when I find The table, stamped log and replaced. Thanks to Angus88
TFTC,
We are out today visiting locations that we have not previously cached to complete the Tasmainian LGA Challenge.
Thanks to the CO's who have taken us to locations of tourist interest we haven't been to.
We have just completed the Advebture Lab by 2y'stassies here but there is no Bonus for it.
I have decided that since this cache also brings us here to award it a favourite. What a great adventure, visited trackables.

Enjoyed the walk to this cache. Certainly an interesting place to see and read the different information around. Caching today with The X-Trailers. TFTC
A most interesting place to visit - I need to tease h Norman Skyes. Great bush walk.
I am touring Tasmania with a group of Kiwi cachers. I’m looking forward to seeing the countryside, the towns and cities, finding lots of caches.
Logs signed GNTJ for GraciesGPSfun, NZ_B, TrinityNZ and Jude_E.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Angus88.

I’m in Tasmania for a week on a geocaching tour with some other New Zealand geocachers. We are in Launceston for a few days, and today drove over to Devonport and then Leith, taking the long route - NZ_B, Jude_E, GraciesGPSFun and me.
We entered this area to complete an Adventure Lab, and then decided to look for this cache, which didn’t take too long to find. What an interesting stop this turned out to be.
Thanks for the cache

It is a habit of mine to not conform and this is a good example. Starting in Sheffield on the 16th I decided to do this one backwards and took a few days off in the middle. At first I was a bit clumsy, trying to get the caches without taking off my big heavy hiking pack full of camping and cooking gear. At one point I tripped and did a somersault into a soft grassy ditch, pack and all. From that point I began taking it off to retrieve the hides. It was good exercise.
There was some wildlife, tiger snakes, one was on a cache, and a jack jumper nest under a cache.
All in all, it was a great geocache trail and an excellent walking track with caves and waterfalls.
Thank you Angus88!

A quick find while in the area to do the adventure lab. A lovely peaceful place in the bush, TFTC
Found quickly thanks to the hint. Also found an additional silver bison on the ground with an unsigned log. Most likely one which was lost, which we will return to Angus88 ........ maybe at the pre Xmas get together/CITO next weekend. Finally made it back to Railton to walk some more Tasmanian Trail cum Mountain Bike Trail cum old railway line. A good clean dry hide. Thanks for this trail of caches Angus88
Stopped here for an AL and after I started walking back to the car realised there was a cache as well , so walked back . Found a silver bison on the ground as well , so left them both in the tree . Thanks for the cache tnln replaced as found sl
Hi Angus good to finally bump into you after logging so many of your caches over the years. I really appreciate your personnel effort in maintaining all these caches for our enjoyment.
I could sign this one today as it was to wet. Your probably replacing right now as I log this find so no need for me to report a maintenance for it.
Heading home so decided to go via Railton and grab a few caches and this was one of them. I know this trail exists but had not done this part of it. So decided to give it a go. It was a nice day for caching today a bit wet and not raining. TFTC. Cache and content in good condition.

On a maintenance in and around Railton and surrounds today so called in to check this one and found that the log was wet. It has now been replaced.
At first I thought I was looking for a container not a bison tube and was a little stuck! But I soon realised it’s a bison tube then readied my self for the search! But I soon spotted it instantly! Thanks for the find.
Logbook is very wet and unusable. Unfortunately I don’t have a Spare with me

WetIt was a Big enjoyable day out caching with ANNAGJW on a nice Sunny winter's day (even managed to get sunburnt). Have had this on our to-do list for some time, so with Anna trying to make it to find her 300th by the end of the month we finally organised a caching day together.! I found my 1100th cache along the way. Nice to get out and have a good day doing caching after not finding many in the last year. Couldn't pick a better day to be out with it being International Geocaching day.
Started at the Sheffield end and worked our way down to Railton. 52 finds including an adventure lab. With only 1 DNF we were happy with the day.
Thanks, Angus88 for placing all these caches for our enjoyment.
Easy find log was wet sorry didn't have a replacement.

Super fast find, I love finding bison tubes. Log was soaked, thinking I need to start carrying replacement logs (learning so many things from CoxFamily 7310 today) Thanks so much for placing this cache trail Angus88
We have planned this day so many times before and finally today on Geocaching World Record day, CoxFamily7310 and I were able to head out on our Railton to Sheffield adventure together.
We found 52 caches, my highest number in one day!! Our day also included, walking a few km (got a beautiful blister to show for these ), an adventure lab, replaced a cache for another CO, some easy finds, some crazy coords, some slips, slides and falls, crawling in caves, jumping creeks, caching by torch and only a couple of DNFs.
We started at Sheffield today and worked our way back to Railton, completing the track in reverse.
Massive thanks also to CoxFamily7310 for an amazing day

While visiting Sheffield for a few days we decided to go out exploring the local area.
Our travels today took us past this cache.
We actually did this while completing the Lab Cache here.

Thank you for the cash Angus 88. I don't believe it I found a bison tube my miracles never cease! I can only attributed it to the fact that my head was still spinning after reading the formulas of letters and numbers left by Norman Sykes, when I get back to the van I might have an aspirin. Regards from Victourer
Found Out and about with 1 Lil Rafa caching for the GC reach the peak game what a lovely three days we had with a trip to tasmazia a trip to Burnie and accommodation at sassafras. TFTC TNLN log dry
Thanks for the cache Angus88.
RLD4963 and I were off to the northwest coast for a couple of days for some geocaching, and to attend a friend's play in Burnie on Saturday night.
After enjoying the play last night, today we decided to grab a few more caches as we made our way back to Hobart.
We headed to Railton hoping to make a start on the Railton-Sheffield rail trail series of caches.
Wow, this little reserve is quite a little gem. Those monuments are very unusual and intriguing. Thank you for placing a cache here. It was a nice quick find at GZ.

GPS had us swinging everywhere. Hint narrowed it down and lucky it was a nice bright colour to attract our attention. TFTC
Lovely here today, sun shining, daffodils and snowdrops out. Log soggy, so signed carefully.
We were just starting to walk East when the rest of our party arrive and jioned us, they also had the fuel we needed in the shape of coffee and cake, after that we walked on to this one after grabbing a GCA on the way, I found this park a very interesting place and was busy reading about Norman when goose said he had found the cache.
This weekends adventures was instigated by TazScout with a discussion/statement 'Day Walk' followed by a map of the area around Sheffield and Railton on the 8th of April, after we all talked to our significant others and arrangements made and diaries double and triple checked we had a sort of plan on the 15th and accommodation was booked for a busy weekend of walking between Sheffield and Railton collecting those caches along with any other GC or GCA we could find the time to grab as we were in the area.
Along with a wonderful walk we had time to catch up with friends and find some great caches, so a perfect use of our time, i think we all were better for a caching weekend and swear we wont leave it as long next time, thanks to all the CO's for making this trip possible.
Thanks for the cache.

After out coffee and pink lamington break we pushed on to the park. What a fascinating place! Whilst the others enjoyed the park I made the find.
It was TazScout who first mentioned the idea of doing the Sheffield to Railton rail trail caches. I suggested this weekend to tie in with a CITO in Devonport that I had organized to attend, and a plan came together fairly quickly. Hotel rooms were scarce around the area but we managed to find a place to accommodate stainless steel rat, the egg and I. TazScout has a busy weekend so drove out to meet us for the day.
As always, our day started with coffee whilst we did a car shuffle before starting at 'The End'. We talked non-stop as we walked, it had been a long time since all five of us had been together and we had a lot of news to catch up on. The company was great, the weather was perfect, and we really couldn't have asked for a better day.
Thanks for all the caches today.

Had a day out with Stainless Steel Rat and Goose & Egg. Decided we'd tackle the Railton/Sheffield run. Of course we picked the busiest weekend of the month with three events in the area one of which being cycling so we had plenty of company on the track.
I'm afraid I"m going to have to send a long run of very boring log posts. If the cache was big enough I left a Scout behind but otherwise all my notes on each find have vanished into my phone storage so I"m relying on memory. Perhaps our Co-conspirators can fill in any blanks. Thanks for a great run of finds with no DNFs in sight.

A quick easy find amounts some very interesting sculptures. We wouldn’t have come here if it weren’t for this series of caches. Thank you.
No problems finding this fella, all in good order.
As always, thanks for the incredible effort and task of placing these caches. It's a fantastic series.

Second time here at sykes its a beautiful quiet area, finding the two caches here today, 1 down 1 to go
This area of caches had been selected to be done after the Community Event held at Latrobe a couple of weeks ago but as it was pouring with rain we left them. Today we headed out with Tassie Trekkers in glorious sunshine to find them. The coords did wander a bit so we were pleased with the detailed hints. A lovely trail. Thanks for placing and sharing this area with us. A favourite here for the whole series. TFTC
Today we targeted this series of caches with whitewebbs that form part of the Tasmanian Trail between Sheffield and Railton. We started early when the breeze was cool but soon became hotter as we worked our way to Railton.
Some were easy to find, but others took some time as we had trouble with co-ords. Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

A trip to Launceston and Devonport on Thursday and Friday with a a night in Launceston. Thursday was work and Friday was a day off, so I took advantage of the new caches in Devonport and Railton for a run on my way to my target of 500 finds for the year. After a very successful day, I came home with 58 cache finds and 2 and nature lab stages.... so 60 which was a good day considering I was home by 7pm. Thursday weather wasn’t very good, so little was down after work, but Friday was a perfect day for caching. Not to hot not raining.
Really enjoyed a walk along the Tasmanian trail. And all was good until on the back roads to Railton, where one stop I was surprised by a tiger snake, which luckily didn’t seem interest3d in me. To be honest it was about 10 metres away, but going Parallel to my walking path.... I don’t like snakes.
Anyway. Managed to finish The Tasmanian trail whole series which deserves the huge favourite point.
For a hanger I found this very quickly.

Took a few minutes to find. Our second time to this reserve, would be lovely if I'd left the noisy kid at home tftc
Heading north for a few days, no real plan, by the look of the weather that will most likely determine what we do.
The weather was looking good so we decided to see how far we would get in this series. We decided to start at the end.....as you do. The start was very wet but improved the further we went along the track.
Once we got onto the correct track we found the cache ok.

Thank you Angus88 for the information on Mr Sykes and for bringing me here with this cache.. He must have been an interesting character to have living in the district. As for the cache I tend not to like hanging bisons but today the sun was at the correct angle to facilitate a reasonably quick find.
As one of the muggles has dogs that don't pull as hard on the lead as mine she had control of the GPS again today. Had warned the others that this one could be tricky and we would all need to search. But by the time we caught up to her she was standing at GZ, had spotted the bison, and directed me straight to it. They don't get much easier than that!!
Love this area and its history and stopped and read the information and checked out the stuff again while we were here.
Guess the original cache that brought us here years ago has gone. From memory it was a multi but I may be wrong on that.
This place is a real hidden gem!
Thanks for this extra cache diverting us through this interesting area. Am giving this one a favourite point.

Two days ago we found half the caches in the Railton to Sheffield Series. Today we returned to attempt to find the remainder. While Mrs y'stassie walked from Sheffield through to the Stoodley Forest, the other member of the team went to look for the other caches in the Railton area that we didn't have time to look for previously. The rain was clearing and better weather was on the way.
Mr y'stassie hunted for this cache for some time without success. He then left to go back to the Stoodley Forest to collect Mrs y'stassie. We then both returned to look for this cache. Despite accurate coordinates and the hint, this cache still took a while to find. It was only when one of us looked into the tree from the right angle that the cache was located. The cache and contents were in good condition. As there were no other entries in the logbook, we will claim {FTF} at 15:30. Thanks Angus88 for all the work that has gone into planning and placing this cache and the Railton to Sheffield series.
