Today we picked up a few more pre solved puzzles while about in Townsville.
Mrs "T" made a quick find here. Enjoyed exploring the area, cache and contents were in good condition.
Many thanks for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience today.

Being in the general area for another cache this had been solved so over we headed. Some careful looking so the nice bit of camo was spotted and the careful extraction made. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
In the Townsville area with Selva Girls to pick up some solved puzzles, Challenge caches and anything else that gets in the way. We found an interesting collection of caches in some nice areas and this was one of them. Tree climbs, tree fishing and hanging off rocks, all part of the fun.
Continued around the park to this one and once at GZ made a quick find. Log signed and all returned as found,
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for me and others to enjoy.

Made the find this morning to keep my daily streak alive. I loved the camo on this cache. I was almost carried away by mozzies as I signed the log. But like the painted rock that I found nearby said, I had to just “dill with it”. . Thanks for another great hide.
Tankengine, Youban and I had another day of a caching fun planned for today around Townsville.
This cache: Found quick enough. Very cool. I have bled for many a spiky hide. But not here though. Tftc!!!

With great excitement we headed to Townville for the for the first FNQ Mega - we were very curious to see how much it had changed since we lived there pre-caching.
Today we spent the morning with Pprass and BeckNMonts looking skywards, mostly in Anderson Park.
While the TTC were setting up I wandered across to find this one only to nearly step on a snake! Fortunately he stayed on the other side of the creek.
Thanks for contributing to the fun burgo78

And not only are there plants that attack, but there are midgies that appear from nowhere and invisibly bite. p-pprass never caches in shorts, but he did the other day and suffered the consequences
Thanks burgo78.

It’s about time I decided to head home after the mega, but there is such a high quality level of caching in Townsville, that I keep on staying. I enjoyed solving this prior to coming! Thanks for the puzzles, the caches, the different to the usual finds burgo78.

I've had my share of encounters with waitawhile and Gympie Gympie in South-East Qld and I can tell you the former is annoying as hell and the latter stings like buggery. Thankfully none was encountered today. CaptainVimes headed straight to it while I was still walking around in circles following the GPS. Thanks for the cache
The profession of barbarian hero appears to be disappearing fast as inventions such as the Clacks, together with a general rise in the level of background civilization, make the Disc a smaller place by the day. Not only are all the traditional venturing grounds within a hundred miles of Ankh-Morpork all played out, the average age of a typical barbarian hero is currently around seventy. With the exception of the occasional romantic of the Nijel the Destroyer persuasion, few young men are entering the profession. On top of this, there are unexpected hazards. As Truckle the Uncivil discovered, a man can't test his mettle against a traditional foe like the Five-Headed Vampire Goat of Skund anymore, not without conservationist groups coming out of the woodwork and protesting that this is an endangered species. And just you try going after dragons, anywhere where Lady Sybil Ramkin is likely to get to hear about it.
A few hiding places at GZ, so Ghostugms and I split up to tackle different spots. We were carefully scanning and peeling things back, when Ghostgums turned around and spotted the cache in plain sight. Oh, no need to be risking losing any skin it seems, excellent...
GG added our names to the log and tucked it back in place.
Cheers burgo78.

Found as part of the Qld Cache mega event weekend in Townsville over Easter 2022. Joined forces with Gunnie69 after flying up from Brisbane to tackle a variety of caches around the Townsville area including three GeoArt series, other puzzles and a few labs! I would like to thank all the cache owners who are making this an enjoyable weekend!
Today it was heading out to James Cook University and then back towards to the centre of town, before seeing Gunnie69 off as he headed back to Brisbane
A smiley has been added to the cache!
Thanks burgo78 for the cache, the hunt and the smiley today! [D*|

Headed to the Anderson Gardens after the Farewell Event with geo friends, (Soeren's Angels) and also met up with other familiar cachers from SEQ here as well.
There was no way I was going to stick my hand into anything spikey after still having nightmares from being stung by a pretty innocent looking plant (Gympie Gympie) on my way to find Pocohanis (GC17W46) at Mothar Mtn, SE of Gympie! Continually rubbing my arm and hand on my hiking pants was the worse thing I did, not realising I was breaking off thousands of tips into my skin. Cant explain the severity of the pain that lasted for six long months. In hindsight, if I had worn a long sleeved shirt & gloves, it would never have happened.
I was very happy when charmad found this cache without any incident.

Attending the Townsville MEGA as Team Tour de Ville and trying to find the caches that were on our list before we added more. This was a tricky one to get as none of us like any of those nasty plants, log signed and cache replaced as found. TFTC
The puzzle was solved before our trip. Alansee and I made the find this afternoon.
After the Farewell Event we were split as to what to do next…. With invitations to go in two different directions… ultimately the Park of Despair, Anderson Gardens won out…
Another tree climb done, my goodness they’re exhausting, the group of mostly Brisbanites walked around to collect this cache… chamad called “found it” before I had a chance to open my mouth… but I made sure everyone knew exactly who found the container…
Tftc…. Log signed Tour de Ville - TIPP ??????

After doing 2/3 tree climbs in the park, our small group were making their way to the third one. It was good as we needed a break from the effort those tree climbs take!
This cache was along the way and I think there was some contention as to who really found the cache....the boys always want the glory.
A nice way to spend the arvo, walking through this beautiful park. Thanks for bringing us here burgo78

So the day went along nicely. First was a boat ride around the creeks of Townsville and out to Bay Island. Next was the closing ceremony of the MEGA. Then a couple of quick caches before heading to Anderson park for some tree climbs.
After our tree climbs it was a walk around the park to just enjoy and “smell the roses”. There are some nice caches in the park. It did not seem to take long to walk around and grab them. The talks and banter with friends laughing and enjoying time together just made short time of the walk. All caches were signed and replaced as found, thank you for placing them here, all good.

Day 3 officially, day 5 actually....
Great to have attended my second MEGA, and to be able to fly once again to a destination for fun! A return to the tropics has been long overdue.
Great to meet new faces and to spend caching time with some familiar cachers as well.Find #5634
So much caching on offer, and apologies for the generic log.
And so it goes, just happy to pick up caches such as this one. Thanks to burgo78 for putting out and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment!

It was at a Sip and Solve session that the CO provided a hint on this puzzle. Oh wow, that was quite clever, and I really enjoyed the subtlety of this puzzle.
During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.
This afternoon, e.gregory1 and I had several hours between our visit to Mega HQ to visit the GPS Maze and Cal's Escape Room, and tonight's Trivia Night, so we decided to stay around the Idalia and Mundingburra areas. An afternoon highlight was the visit to Anderson Botanic Gardens where several "adventurous" tree climbs were completed.
After parking nearby, we took a short walk to GZ where the cache was found reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as DWEG1 (Davidwazza and e.gregory1) to save space in the logbook. Thanks burgo78 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. A Favourite Point from me for the memorable puzzle!

I was totally off track looking for this cache that one of the others found. A clever cache container holder

This cache was found as part of a trip with GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to Far North Queensland for the Townsville Mega. The trip started in Cairns and ended in Mackay, and allowed us to find some ripper caches inbetween.
We managed to complete some of the Breaking Bad cache series until we driven back to the car due to the heat, and the Saint and most of the book series. There were some good variety in both these series which kept them interesting.
One of the highlights (although a low light when removing the mud) was the walk on the salt flats outside Townsville to get the challenge caches
Another highlight was Magnetic island, where other than some great views, we managed to spot two koala's in the wild.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache that was part of our trip

Another frustrating yet simple puzzle if you take the time. Looking for the cache took some time too. After moving the car I met the guys searching. We eliminated many sites and narrowed it down and then suddenly SSR spotted the well camouflaged hide.
Thanks burgo78
A ten day mega trip was arranged with Stainless steel rat and Budgietas. We flew into Cairns and out of Mackay, with the majority of the time in and around Townsville. We found a huge variety of caches and although our find count was a little lower than we would have liked, some of the high D/T caches more than made up for that. I really appreciate the effort of the local COs and all the people involved in hosting the mega and associated activities. I enjoyed catching up with many of our caching buddies, and make some new ones too!
Thanks for a great mega trip!

The weekend of the Mega was here at long last so the first thing we did was not go to the Mega but we went to clean up some DT caches we missed on Castle Hill after we had got coffee then it was a drive to A Box of Red Herrings only to find the library closed but then to discover the cache at the Mega site anyway.
Maze was next then we did the box of red herrings while we waited for the Escape Room to open, which we were first in along with the Davinells, before heading out for the day collecting a few more good caches around Townsville.
This was my first Mega trip in a while now, I had planned to go to the last one in Wangaratta but concerns about COVID made me pull out at the last minute. For this one it was a trip with BudgieTas and GooseandEgg landing in Cairns on the Sunday where we collected a few caches in the dark before driving down to Townsville on the Monday collecting a select few caches along our very indirect route.
While in the Townsville we made the best of our time collecting a few series of caches and searching for some of the older caches on offer, some with lots of favourite points or something we thought maybe a bit different, along with all that we got to go to all the Mega events and meet up with cachers old and new, spending Thursday with Greg going round Magnetic Island and a bit of time with the Davinells who went out of their way to welcome the Tasmanians to Queensland.
All to soon it came to an end and we drove down to Mackay on the Monday again collecting caches along the way before flying home on the Tuesday Morning.
Thanks for the warm (sometimes too hot) welcome Queensland until next time!
Thanks for the cache.

27,754. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 9 of our Townsville Trek, and we have arrived in Townsville ! Today was a big day. After finishing off the Adventure Labs and the Maze, we teamed up with the Canberra contingent (signing as Southern Caching Group SCG) and tackled The Saint, the Book as well as many more caches. The series was both fun and certainly with some challenging caches. The run along collecting was also a lot of fun. This was one of the bonus caches during the day. Pre-solved and a quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then we continued on to the next cache on the list.
Thanks burgo78 !! Clever puzzle !

Day 9 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
A truly mega day on Mega Day! Started off back at the event arena. Completed the gadget/labs on site and made our way through the Maze before heading of to team up with friends for a day full of caching. Whilst with the group we all signed as SCG or Southern Caching Group. Our main priority was The Saint and The Book series which we had all worked on beforehand. We picked up many other caches along the way. The day ended with the Trivia Night which is turning into a must do annual event.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Thanks to all the CO’s. Today was certainly a fun and tiring day.

Townsville Mega 2022. Saturday. I started working on this puzzle just after publication and got... nowhere. Come today and we are at the mega! A hint from a previous solver and the 'd'oh' moment hit me. So 3 of us, names SSQ for short, collected this cache on our trip up to Townsville for the Qld Mega 2022. We laughed when we found this cache! Great place for it and wonderful container. Awarding a FP for the puzzle and the cache.
This was the 1st of 32 caches found on this outing.
Thanks ***burgo78*** for showing us this place

Found while in Townsville to attend the Mega event.
I travelled up from Adelaide, taking a week or so so get here, meeting up with FeatherWaite to do some caching around the Cunnamulla area then continuing on to Barcaldine and Charters Towers.
While in Townsville I teamed up with Budgietas, Stainless-steel-rat and Gooseandegg on some days, including a day on Magnetic Island, and with Davidwazza at other times. When caching with Davidwazza, logbooks were signed DWEG1.
All in all it was a terrific week or so in Townsville, with plenty of great caches found.

TFTC. The mission of the morning was to complete the Saint Trail. We met Liz and Bruce, TBU, Wollaston ,Seasoned Bird, Wazza 9 and NanaNel at the appointed time and place and then proceeded to find all of the caches. We had solved all of them , some with help and a few will a great deal of help. A great morning with good friends. Th ask for the brain work out firstly and then the physical activity.
We were in the Gardens so that Liz and Bruce and Wollaston and Seasoned Bird could find the Waypoint for the Townsville Tourist AL.
We had searched here before but came up empty. Fresh eyes helped to located the hide for a clever puzzle.

Up in Townsville for the MEGA with Sharpe m and slow puncture . all the log books were signed SSQ to save room. We had a lot of puzzles solved for this trip and this one I looked at so many times before a PAF gave me a clue how to solve. What a great puzzle and at GZ it took a little while to spot this cache. Then we had a laugh. What a great one. Giving it a FP FOR all the fun
On a group hunting expedition. Another great day for caching. ?? TFTC burgo78

Day 9 of a 3 week holiday driving from Canberra to Townsville and back to attend the Mega. This morning team FATZ (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, ZQX and I) focused on Castle Hill. Then following brunch we tackled these caches in Anderson Park. This was my second visit to this cache. Nice to have reinforcements. ZQX soon spotted the cache. Not sure how I missed it on the first visit. TFTC.

Cache 8803 on 16 Apr 2022.
Up in Townsville from CBR for the Mega with TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox and ZQX and thousands of other CBR cachers! So many interesting caches to find while in the area, we will sadly not be able to get to all of them. But happy to get some warmth and sunshine while out and about, which has been sadly lacking in the ACT this summer. This was also a chance to use up some flight credits from a cancelled trip to the USA in August 2020 before they expired. Many puzzles solved before travelling, either individually or collectively, and a few solved on the run!
Today: the plan is to grab a few caches on and around Castle Hill in the morning and head to the Mega and Maze in the afternoon. Who knows what the day holds!
Thanks burgo78 for the cache and the fun!

Day 7
Today we teramed up with the Snakepitters to do a few caches before heading to the Mega.
We targeted A cache in Particular so that Snakepitters can complete their 1st DT loop. The 1st loop always seem the hardest to do.
Had a DNF last time, a quick find here today.
Thankyou burgo78 for placing this cache.

#14115; Day eleven of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. The plan for today was to pick up an adventure lab in the city and a few of the local caches in that area before heading to the racecourse and the Mega itself to join a group of other cachers to tackle a couple of the local geoart trails. Our merry group set off, adopting the name Southern Caching Group and signing logs SCG to save on space. After completing both "The Saint" and the "Literary" geoart series, our group decided to kick on and try for some of the higher D/T rated caches, including this one. ToTTs were deployed as required to make the find. A nice way to wrap up a busy day of caching. TFTC burgo78
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 8. Townsville Mega section Day 8. Mega Day 1. Easter has arrived and the town is quiet. There was a plan to try the Breaking bad walk today, but that fell apart due to some planning issues and a possibility the park was closed. What's more, it was hot. Instead Smitten Granny, Gliss!, Nibletricecakes and I toured around town doing Labs and interesting caches we had solved or had peaked our interest during planning. The evening was the welcome to Mega event alongside some amazing gadget caches, followed by some impromptu night caching with Cosmonaut97.
After th cemetery LABs, we came to thus solved puzzle, because the front gates were closed. It seemed an easy find to me, but the sun was shining on the outer cover, another object to beware off.
Thanks for the cache burgo78

Walked past the tree climbs and just laughed.
Still took a little while to spot.
Was looking elsewhere until read the clue

An excellent puzzle! I’ve never seen one like that before . At GZ, we approached from exactly the right angle and spotted it immediately, appreciating the themed container. Found while exploring lovely Townsville and surrounds during the CacheQld Townsville Mega, with DisSister and Dragonsky. TFTC, burgo78. =^.^=
After spending yesterday out on the Island, the target today was as many ALs as possible with a few others thrown in for good luck. So it was that Nibletricecakes Albida33 , GLISS! and I set off to become conquering heroes. All caches were found to be in excellent condition so were signed as NAGS or some such combination.
These caches were extraordinary in their variety and creativity. Huge thanks to all COS for the incredible effort that has gone into the creation and placement of both the ALs and caches.

Caught the info I needed and placed into the checker.
Get the correct co-ords message.

Nyssaflutterby and I had a road trip to Townsville for the mega. It involved camping, hotels, cabins, tunnels, caves, beaches, trees and lots of laughs with old friends and new.
Off to pick up some solved puzzle caches with Membsec for the afternoon.
Off to pick up some solved puzzle caches with Membsec for the afternoon.
We got off the plane, grabbed the hire car and was trying to decide whether to head straight for our accommodation or head to the supermarket. We contacted Nyssaflutterby who stated that they had just arrived at the accommodation, (she knows how to find some good accommodation) so we headed for there too. Once our luggage was in the room we decided to head out to do some geocaching before it got dark.
Just beginning to get dark so our phone lights came in handy. We found it going in one way and leaving another way! The container was very cleverly cammoed!

Last cache for the day with membsec and wombles. With torches on we headed into GZ. Lady membsec made quick work of discovering the well hidden beasty and a few giggles were had about the covering and the way LadyM described how it went on ?? Ribbed for her pleasure was a reply ??
Thanks for the smiley burgo78

We discoverd these amazing gardens while out walking the dogs at our current house sit close by and they've become a regular place to wander and just sit in the shade. Definitely a public asset that deserves more attention. Of course, I'd checked out the caches in the park and discovered most were beyond my climbing abilities.
This one was a bit outside my usual thought patterns, so a quick request of the CO to give a starting point was needed. As it turns out, I'd never have succeeded due to some technical issues, but once the door was cracked, the solution was quickly found. On arrival at GZ, another obstacle...the sprinklers were on and GZ was well and truly off limits. So, an extra lap around the lake was called for and once the sprinklers finished, the find was quick and easy.
Thanks for the cache and especially for cracking the door seal burgo78!

Thank you for the work you put into this puzzle burgo78. I had an "Oh WOW" moment when the penny dropped and we both appreciated the themed container.
Every year, my trip to visit my in laws in Townsville for Christmas provides a chance to unwind, get a bit sweaty and find a few local caches. And with the quality of the caches on offer here, I always look forward to the trip.
Despite, having a lot of experience with spiky, stinging plants, including the stinging nettle, wait a while, the NQ chonky apple tree and the infamous Gympie Gympie tree, I struggled with this puzzle.
When my twisted mind needs a laugh, I go and read logs for one of my own caches, Numinbah Views, which requires climbing a mountain covered in spiky plants and stinging trees. LOL.
I thought that I had uncovered the solution early on and despite red crosses, could not drag my mind out of the rabbit hole I was stuck down. Seffnjarah is travelling to NQ shortly and has solved a heap of puzzles, so I sought his assistance. Turns out if I could have dragged myself out of the rabbit hole long enough to undertake a thorough review of the puzzle, I would have discovered the solution as I have encountered this before. Preconception is often a killer when solving puzzles.
At GZ, I checked out a few possibilities, before finding the cache hidden in its nicely themed container.
Many thanks, Burgo78

Out for a ride and doing some maintenance.
This one was still in place at good coordinates (for me at least).
Keep looking.

We had a good search around but no luck at all here today.
This is the one we presumed the council worker knew of. We should have went back to get some more advise.

I have avenged a DNF early today with my geomunchkins (AGG & MCB); we got back to GZ armed with the CO’s encouragement I was super close. I definitely had cloth eyes, because I had my fingertips on it last time I was here, I can’t believe I thought it was a & didn’t check it out closer. Signed log & RAF.

DNF After solving the puzzle on Tuesday just gone (18/08/2020) I finally got to GZ this morning with Geo-munchkin AmazingGracieGrace. However without help from AGG as she was busy munching on her morning tea whilst in her stroller,(she didn’t want to! ) she watched her mum fight off cobwebs & get pricked by spikes that she shouldn’t touch. “Don’t Touch the spikes mum” she tells me! Appropriately named, however I couldn’t locate the cache to sign the log & gain the smiley
Having been stung by one sort of stinging plant while caching further north I can attest to the fact that they are to be avoided at all costs. Whilst the pain didn’t last for too many days I was pretty happy about it as I was concerned with what I’d read before heading out on caching treks around Townsville. I usually don’t wear appropriate gear thanks to the temperatures we do get up this way, so I’ve been pretty lucky. Also lucky today, and didn’t have to resort to wearing the sock puppet and woolies bag I brought down just in case Evil burgo played a starring role in this one. This one was pretty easy to narrow down once I looked into it, and gathered what it would take knowing that the CO and the cacher that had the FTF had recently looked into a puzzle with similar elements involved. Thanks for another fine Anderson Park Cache. Have enjoyed each and every one so far.
Thank you very much Burgo78 for raising awareness. I prepared myself already with long trousers, long shirts and gaiters for an upcoming adventure at the Pinnacles.
Having seen a similar cache recently, it was a very quick solve and I raced with my bike to GZ. A bit of a search, and I can confirm that it is indeed spike..., but I was rewarded with an [FTF].
