I was at the base of the sword but tragically couldnt find the cache! Ah well, will come back again.
A had a rest after a big day, then decided to go and get some tea, although undecided what to have. Thought I'd grab a few more before it gets dark.
A team of 6 of us came down from Wellington for the mega event. We hired out a house for the three days. However today I am helping out another cacher so am splitting off from the team. We don't meet up till 9am, so that is over 3 hours of walking around the house area, geocaching while I wait.Wow this cache title is pregnant with promise! What's it going to be? (I had not read the cache description). AS I came around the corner and spied the rocks I thought "Good! But how are you going to achieve the rest?"Well, I am impressed. The warrior has pulled it off again. Yep, Excalibur. Well done
Found with TARV2014 during a road trip down the West Coast, over the Haast Pass, back round Te Anau and to Milford, Dunedin to check in for the Mega Event, and then back to Tasman via Christchurch.TARV has done the all the detail of contacting CO's where necessary with info for Virtuals and Earth-Caches, and posing photos as required. Thanks to all the CO's along the way - the frequent stops, learning more about some local information, and enjoying the stunning views was fantastic. Thanks to all for the caches.
A quick find with SJT_NZ while exploring old haunts. Thanks for a fun cache, I always thought Arthur & Excalibur were more Glastonbury way but history corrected.
Down in Dunedin for the Mega this weekend with McJandals and NZFLOSSY. Signed the log sheet MDF Thanks for the cache.
Down in Dunedin for the Mega event. Travelling with Davidsonclan and McJandals. Really fun to be out and about with the team and catching up with other cachers friends m everywhere. Thanks to all the organisers and all the COs for some great caches. It is certainly a lovely area of New Zealand TFTC
Down here for the Dunedin Geo Toroa Event from the sunny Bay of Plenty,Tauranga and are with some of Team BoP. Great to get together with our fellow cachers. Signed Logs MDF. (McJandals,Davidson clan & NZ Flossy)I am logging using the Cachly App and using their template option which helps with my memory for logging. I genuinely thank every CO for their time and effort put into these caches. Much appreciated.
Cache missing. Replaced. As the sword is no more I will archive this after the mega.
We got down on our knees and had a good hunt at the base of whats left of the sword but no luck. Hope King Arthur doesnt need his sword anytime soon!
Great spot for a cache named Excalibur! Took a bit of searching but was eventually found a bit out of the hint spot. Relocated back to where I think the spot was. Otherwise in good condition. TFTC
Yay!! Finally, my first cache of the day, thanks heaps!! Really cool tree formation btw, very curious. TTFC!!!
After an eventful day sorting out numerous problems with GeohoundandI's student house, we came out for a few caches, some she had already found and others that neither of us had found. This was the first one, and she took me roughly to the area and tried to get me to find the cache without any clues! I really had to get down on my hands and knees to reach it, but at least I didn't roll down the hill.
The big mission of today day was to break my record of most finds in 1 day. I started in the morning from Larnach Castle, after spending the night there. Unfortunately, the weather was really bad for part of the day but I persisted nonetheless, going on a geocaching hunt through the wind and rain, on my bike! After going down Highcliff Road into the city, I spent a lot of time in the city centre, ticking off all adventure labs there. Then through the botanical gardens and onto the steepest street in the world, which I managed to ride all the way up in 3 'stints' . To finish off I grabbed some more tradies at the waterfront and just before midnight I called it a night. I'm not sure if I broke the record yet, since I'm only logging all finds at the moment .Btw, sorry to all CO's, I did not manage to actually sign all logs, since my fingers were sometimes so cold, I had no strength to open some tight containers. Rest assured, I actually found all containers and enjoyed the full day hunt a lot! Also sorry for this generic log for all caches, making it a little bit easier for myself, since I found so many. All finds were relatively easy, mostly because of the hints, thanks for that. All DNF's were either taking too much time so I had to move on, or were very probably missing. Many thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining! FP's rewarded for the ones I especially enjoyed!
My new favourite. This is definitely the true location of the sword in the stone in my head now. The Sabres.
This was a really cool spot and the view was amazing so after making the find we decided to take a break and go on the swings. TFTC
One of several caches located in Dunedin today when I was visiting a few points of interest. I was in the neighbourhood visiting an “ancestral home” and checked to see what caches were nearby. This one was. Took a brief moment to get the gist of what it was all about. Yes, a certain amount of novelty value there, and a reasonably quick find. #6224. TFTC.
TFTC, I too now believe the sword was pulled from here. Managed to find it during a quiet morning in the area without too many muggles around

I was staying at a nearby B&B and went for a walk visiting a few nearby caches after settling in and eventually found this one after the penny dropped and realising I could put my hand into placing without worrying about something biting and killing me.
Find recorded using GCDroid and logged using GSAK

On a tour of the area getting some caches for a challenge. All good with the cache. Thanks
With my ex-muggle friend, out and about exploring the hills and geocaching our way back into town. Glad she spotted this one. Great hide. Thanks!
In Dunedin for a few days for U13 football tournament. Even though Mr12 has a broken arm we still made the trip to support the team...and Mr12, with a bubble wrapped arm, even managed to play a couple of the games....
Games all over so we came out for an afternoons drive in the sunshine....boys not up to much walking to just a putter around to admire the views...and find the odd cache or two. How cool; gotta love nature - if it can, it will.....seed must have dropped directly down from the hole in the rock, then grew straight up threw it. Nice.

A bit of a hunt on a rainy day looking at the wrong “sword”, but a quick find once at the right one. An interesting feature! TFTC
A bit of a search, but found in the right general location an returned slightly closer to the base of the sword. Lovely afternoon for a walk with MsEvs.
In keeping with the legend, I couldn’t pull Excalibur from the stone. But I did find the geocache. Thanks Wilbywarrior
What an interesting sword. I am on a 4.25 day geocaching road trip with Jude_E. We spent most of the time near Dunedin. The geo art is complete and the main challenge we were aiming for too. We are on our way home. Thanks for hiding this cache Wilbywarrior I appreciate it.
Some scrabbling around but found much to the amusement of a nearby resident! Tftc.

“Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government!”
My 100th cache, thank you so much!!

After finding the cache at the bottom of the hill we wandered up here though the Bush as it was a lovely day and quickly located the cache. Two for my muggle partner. And zero finds for me so far.
Got my nails dirty for that one, all part of geocaching lol. Found with KJR on my way to first geocache event
Heading to the Bugging Out Event with Tithonian so we made a quick stop here on the way and soon had cache in hand. Now thats a crazy feature at GZ!! TFTC Wilbywarrior
Felt a little rough after two DNFs on my solo mission, so I came back into town to grab a couple of easier ones. Found this one with very little difficulty - it's amazing how nature does this. Tried but failed to pull out the sword - clearly I am no King Arthur. Ah well, can't win them all, and for now a smiley is enough. Cheers!
In Dunedin for a few days for work. After a looooong day and dinner with some colleagues it was time for caching out and about with B4 Dawn - yay!!
We must be worthy of the find as we found it pretty quickly. Cool to see the way the tree and rock interact.
Thanks for the cache.

Day #4 of my Geotour.
Driving from Oamaru to Dunedin collecting TMGT and PWGT caches on the way.
Arrived at the CO's lunchtime event and decided to walk over and grab this before getting myself invloved in some chin wagging.
An excellent cache name and a neat wee specimen. How do they do that?

Bit harder to see in the dark. Ha ha.
Drove Logan to football practice, at jubilee park, then run over here to find this cache as it is the missing cache for my solar system wonder. I am slowly ticking them off.
Now up to Roslyn for a coffee then back to pick up Logan. All in 90 minutes.
Ticked two things off I enjoy doing.

Had the day off so walked from home along here and then a stop on the way back for lunch at Copper. Unbelievable that this could happen! Easy find. TFTC!
Aha! That is quite impressive indeed. Physical cache quickly located, and physical logbook duly signed.
Thank you for the cache, Wilbywarrior.

Last chance for the day - hooray for an easy park and grab. I think... no... ooh-er... phew, here it is! Yes, this is certainly a very unusual feature!
