Logs
The D/T of this cache was too good to ignore so we went to check it out. After a bit of squinty searching the cache was spotted and MrG climbed up to get it. Getting there wasn't a problem.. accessing the log and replacing it was. On the ground a tight soft log is just a tight soft log, up in a tree it's a delicate juggling act. Fortunately it was only the pen that was dropped and that was after signing the log. Where it landed was a T4 with thorns attribute for the person on the ground. After the cache MrG said he would like a cuppa... like was too weak of a word for me. TFTC SAGEO_5.
A big day of milestones planned starting with my 8000th find as well as completing my Ausmer and later completing my 8th D/T loop. We left Portland this morning Expecting to get up past Millicent before heading home to Geelong. For me this was a must do cache today because it the D/T combo was the one I needed to complete my 8th loop. I was glad when AusFox; managed to spot the tiny little fella. Then the fun began. Getting my big frame up there and out there. AusFox directed my as I went up guiding me all the way till I could see my prize when I was in the tree.I think I have renames the cache to NNU#9 (Need new undies).I was very relieved to have my name in the book and have my 8th loop completed Thank you SAGEO_5 for the hide
The second day of a road trip with Sims_Family travelling from Portland, Port Macdonell and over to Millicent to work our way through the SPE Challenge series and some of the Finding a Fish series too.Cache:We searched high and low for the bison, which turned out to be the easy part. Getting the cache proved to be a little challenging. Trying to open and retrieve the log with a stick with one hand. While clinging to the branch with the other. Log signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the traditional cache SAGEO_5 #8,082
Found at 2:28 PM GAFF2.Well - actually I didn't "need" a ladder as there were enough low branches to get up, but what I did need was super human eyes to spot the bison! Couldn't spot it at all (found out later why that was) and so decided to just get up there and check out the scenery. Got to a point where it was going to be really difficult to go up any higher and as I was looking down to see how I could get back down again - I spotted it! However there was a bit of lateral work to get to it and I wasn't sure if the branch that I was standing on was going to support my weight. Edging along I needn't have worried - it was solid as a rock except right at the end when the whole tree started to sway from a huge wind gust - just great I managed to open the bison one handed, but then struggled to get the blasted log out - it was tight in there and usually I can "shock" it out, but I was not going to do that at this height and risk it falling down. So I used a twig and after a bit of delicate work levered it out. Signed, replaced and then a bit of fiddling to get the thread right and off I go on my decent which took no time compared to going up!Thanks to SAGEO_5
Im currently on the great novo Leap Day road trip of 2024 which starts in the north east of VIC and heads to Mildura via Echuca and Swan Hill, then on into SA through the Riverland and Barossa before heading to Adelaide for [The Leap Day event](https://coord.info/GL1BKDZBZ), and then the Adelaide Hills and greater ADL area for some cache cherry-picking before heading south to Millicent via the Fleurieu Peninsula. This is probably the biggest geocaching road trip I have undertaken to date with around 200 finds planned!Largely enjoying a semi-random feast of caching around the Millicent area on my final day (a bit late to the party but better late than never). Was out at [number two in this series](https://coord.info/GC88420) earlier today but was bummed to see that GZ has been decimated by some farm machinery ...or Godzilla; one of the two. But I saw this one was also in the area so I was keen to check it out as these looked good from recce. Well I wasn't wrong; got to GZ and it didn't look like much ...until you get right to GZ and look up. YIKES that's a long way up and also like looking for a needle in a haystack! The wind had picked up a bit too by this stage of the day (~3.30pm) so the D-rating was certainly on point - what to do? UP I WENT. This tree is great for a freeclimb (turns out you don't UNAL here after all lol) with branches reasonably well worn from previous climbers too so, once they took me up to a decent height which might reflect T-rating, I started to look around. Nothing yet. Oh boy the wind up here was making things a little howya goin that's for sure. I do love the sound of the wind thru pine needles. Searching for a micro up in a tree like this is always tricky... but OH there it is! Oh man that's going to be fun to get to! Shuffle shuffle... shuffle... -don't look down- ...aaaand gotcha!! I shuffled back to a safe (safer) spot to SL and to ultimately/ successfully get it all back as found without dropping anything in this breeze. What a rush! That's the scariest tree climb I've made in a while - have a FP! Awesome! TFTC, SAGEO_5.#1926
**Today:**On an epic roadtrip with DSD for the SA Leap Day mega! We woke up in Millicent this morning with a destination of Murray Bridge, via my first ever event in SA at Tailem Bend Motorsport Park, which is up there with the best venues I have attended an event in! The SFE Challenges near Millicent were the first target, before we cherry-picked our way via high DTs and county chasing! Thanks to all COs for an awesome day!**This Cache**A tough hide to spot, but thanks to some previous logs they guided me to the right spot and once I started climbing I was able to make the find! Love a good tree climb, and a good cache to grab between the challenge cache finds! TFTC
No ladder but good tree climbing ability.Unable to spot the hide from either below or up high.
Day 9 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.
Today fitzy_1965 and I again joined albida, Sol de lune & smittengranny. We signed as MAFSS to save room. Some of us may have rebelled and signed FAMSS instead.
Our aim was to finish the GV2020 series and to do the Crayfish series with anything we could find in between. We also did the SFE challenge series for good measure and will check these when I get home.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

30,873. Found with minniek, albida33, Sol de lune, smittengranny (signing either as FAMSS or MAFSS to save room and just for fun). After the hordes around Rutherglen it was good to drop down to a group of 5.
Rutherglen Mega and South Australia Trip Day 9. Today was another great day for our little group - the last day the 5 of us will cache together for a while - caching around the Millicent region. We finished up the GV2020 series, then knocked off the Crayfish and Challenges, along with many higher D/T and other caches along the way. Awesome. Quick find once at GZ and the TOTT was deployed. Signed, replaced, then we headed to the next one on the list.
Thanks SAGEO_5 !!

Southern Autumn adventure Day 10. Post Mega South East SA trip Day 4. Millicent was our base to visit the geo-art in the area. We started the day in the off and on rain by doing the GV2020 art we started yesterday. Next was tackled the crayfish and finally the SFE caches. In between there were some other caches and we targeted some of the high D/T caches in the area. Today he team was Fitzy_1965, Albida33, MinnieK, Sole de Lune & Smitten Granny and logs were signed as FAMSS or similar.
I lost count of how many trees I climbed over the three days we were here, but the most difficult part of each one was seeing the cache before ascending. I just went up a few times, hoping to see it. Log signed and returned safely.

So the 5 interstate amigos hit the trails again today. First up, we finished the GV2020 series then the Crayfish and finally the SFE trail. It was a very rewarding day with lots of success but at times we had to replace the cache which was missing. At other times though we found two caches where a throw down had been placed as previous cachers couldn't find the original.
As if all these weren't enough we managed to hunt out and find a few traditionals followed by a couple of the UNAL caches, some of which were real challenges. Albida33 did the honours again at this cache.
All logs were signed MAFSS ,or FAMSS, for minniek, Albida33, Fitzy_1965, Sol de Lune and Smittengranny. Thanks to all the cachers who have been/ are involved in the placement and maintenance of these caches.

After the Rutherglen mega, fitzy_1965, albida33, minniek, Smittengranny and myself headed to the Mount Gambier / Millicent region to tackle some of the caches from the Millicent mega that we couldn't get to.
Now onto day 2 of our run around the area and we started the day where we left off last night. We also stopped for a few in the UNAL series (4 or in total) and after a bit or work the caches were in hand. All of them deserve their D/T ratings.
Many thanks for the cache...it was good to hear the Millicent mega went well, but even better that we have finally made it across to find those caches.....as well as a few others.

With the temperature hitting 40°C and the metre high grass growing right up to the bitumen, we had to pick and choose the caches we found today, as we headed toward the beach .
This one was too good for us today, not able to spot it from the ground , so we went off to find some others .
We'll leave this for a cooler day .
Thanks anyway SAGEO_5.

Still catching up on logging so apologies. Geoturtle37 and I have extended our trip for a lot longer than it was planned and this is one of the many subsequent caches found.
I am not big on solving puzzles bit I like to be able to contribute to our group in some way. I was more than happy to do what was needed to get our names in the log. I do like a good climb.
Thanks for bringing us here with this cache.

Hadn't realised just how far behind in our logging we were so making a concerted effort to catch up before the dates from last year meet the dates of this year.
A few in our convoy, besides myself, had noticed these caches and so it was great to find one on the way to the SFE caches. I am hoping that we might come across more as we cache around this area.
Thank you for placing this cache for us to enjoy.

Out and about across several days with a fun caching crew that consisted of ChooknChunk, Team Crackers, micaparamedic, RoamingHowie, Papi4506, and GeoTurtle37.
The laughter, frivolity, cheeky comments, deep and meaningful conversations, drinking, eating, caching, dust, long grass, the spectacular Andrew (RoamingHowie also known as the human ladder) taking one or two or three for the team (geocaching certainly got him wet) , then there was Rob (Papi), his climbing skills and agility was second to none - amazing!! [^], and what Jo could do with a pole is impressive! [:X]
Life has been a little challenging lately (as it has been for many), but this geocaching trip instantly injected some nature, connection with others and different scenery into the mix (with the silliness and laughter) - just what the soul needed.
Thank you to those who placed the caches and then a special thanks to those who maintain the caches that we found. [:X]

I was out and about for some post Mega wind down time. After heading to Dimboola for the event weekend I jumped on the end of a convoy to Millicent. It was another day of exploring around the area to collect some of the caches from the Mega we couldn’t make it to.
Thanks Papi4506 for the hard work at this one after we all took some time to actually spot the cache.
Thanks SAGEO_5 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to mindful

We are still travelling around with our little group consisting of Roaming Howie, micaparamedic, chook n chunk, goodlook, Papi4056 and geoturtle37 and headed to Southend to do the Adventure lab and what ever else turned up along the way.
We decided to have a look at some of these UNAL caches as we had a variety of TOTT's amongst us, This one took a little while to spot even with this many eyes but once it was Papi4056 left the ladder and made his way to gz where all our names were added to the log.
Thanks SAGEO_5 for the cache.

After not being able to attend the GV2020 Mega, Chook finally made it here in Millicent with Team Vic (or The Vics, or V V R, depending on who had the pen) - consisting of The Tritonz, Papi4506, Geoturtle37, Team Crackers, micaparamedic, Roaming Howie and our honorary Vic GoodLook.
The agenda for Day 2 included the challenge series, the GV2020 geoart and the Wine Bottle geoart, and any other caches that took our fancy in between.
Wow this little one was hard to spot but we had many eyes in our team. Once located Papi left the ladder behind and did the climb for us. TFTC SAGEO_5

Road trip! Joined ZQX, Fox in Jox and TikvaNZ in taking advantage of a long weekend in the ACT to head to Victoria and South Australia for 4 days. We had planned this trip 2 years ago, but it did not happen for obvious reasons, so now getting it underway. Our goal is to pick up some old caches, get counties and get some interesting DT combinations!
Today: day 3 travelling from Mount Gambier to Bendigo. We had to backtrack slight to Millicent to collect some challenges as we ran out of time yesterday. Today is about challenges, some older caches and more counties!
A tricky find and retrieve.
Thanks SAGEO_5 for the cache and the fun!

Many a trip to Millicent was planned, locked out or down. More recently a plan was hatched for 4 of us to attend but enroute our number dropped to 3 which meant so re shuffling and re prioritising.
We (PPE and Crash 2079) held our own event, Grumpy Over Millicent or better known in our vocabulary as GOM amongst other TLA’s of the same acronym. It was great to meet some of the locals.
Many an adventure was had with TOTTs of various types. The weather left a bit to be desired with fleeting bursts of sun but mostly wind, over cast and plenty of rain but we still managed to hoist poles and ladders and climb trees.
We had a bit of look the evening before but figured best to come back in full light and hopefully less wind. As we pulled up Kevin the Monkey shot out the door before the dust could settle, didn't bother with a ladder and went straight up and out to make a speedy find.
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.

GOMs do Millicent - Day 3
After our plans to attend the Mega were cancelled by COVID, the stars finally aligned and saw **bella at waggy**, **Purplepeopleater** and myself jetting off early on Friday morning. With such a variety of targets on our list, we needed to bring an assortment of TOTTs via oversize baggage.
Today was all about mopping up as many of the remaining caches on our hit list as we could, including visiting some 2001 caches and a few new LGAs. We travelled as far south as Port MacDonnell and returned via Mount Gambier and Penola. Lots of driving and quite a bit of rain on and off.
We had done some reccie on this one yesterday and returned with a better idea on where to search today. Up and across and log signed.

So we were in South Australia and Mrs Dromaniax decided she wanted to stay on the coast and take some photographs. She stayed with our geodogs, Teeny Treek and Mini Michi, in A'Tuin. Mr Dromaniax headed off in the geomobile Joet with Gypsy Girl, who loves caching in the country with Dad. She jumps in and out of the geomobile nad generally has a ball.
We had packed the ladders as we were wanting to grab some of the UNAL series. We dragged ourselves through to the tree and set up the ladder. after searching around on a few levels we finally spotted the cache.
The cache is in great condition. Thank you for this cache SAGEO_5

Found by Rebel Acts in the company of The Empire.
with it being School holidays in Victoria I had some time spare to head to Millicent where I teamed up with the Empire for a few days caching in the area, we had a fantastic time exploring the area. Today we tackled the Crayfish before chasing a few D/T combos on the SFE trail and the UNAL series, once they were done it was back into town to grab a few before trying out the local Pizza for Dinner.

In Millicent for a few days of caching fun! The Crayfish was the first series we wanted to complete this morning. With the cold wind keeping the crowds at bay, we were able to find all of the caches in this series without too many interruptions from the locals.
With that series out of the way, we were able to chase some interesting difficulty/terrain combos with the ladder in the back of the Patrol. We were after some challenge caches nearby, this one was found quickly once I got a fair way up. Thanks for the cache SAGEO_5.

Over in SA again with a cut down group of geocaches compared to last time. We felt it was time this group of Victorians found some Millicent caches, as we were banned from the mega! We are signing the logs as Vic1. Thanks for the sometimes challenging caches SAGEO_5!

Found by Mary and David, in company with McLookers, beckNmonts, Alansee, muzza, and Rabbitto (signing as VIC1), at at 10:46. This trip was planned to tackle the many caches around Millicent as we'd been locked down last year and unable to attend GV2020. Our thanks to SAGEO_5.
Out to collect some of the higher rating caches today with ilook4geo and jebjeb, who proved to be a really good climber of both ladders and trees. This was where jebjeb really came into his own. He scaled the heights and spotted the container, then balanced very carefully as he headed towards the cache. The rain and the strong wind made the job even more difficult and scary, even for the support crew on the ground. All names were added to the log and everything was then replaced as found. Thanks go to SAGEO_5 for this very challenging cache.
We found this cache together with Goingplaces2.
We climbed the tree without a ladder, but when I wanted to sign the logbook it fell down.
So another one had to climb up to bring the logbook back to me.
As there was a strong wind with rain today it wasn't that nice up in the tree.

Despite a good hunt around, and up and down, we didn't find your cache today.
Nup... not a thing Nil. Nought. Nothing.
Could be we have cache blindness. Could be we just need some more experience finding them...
We obviously need more practice at this game, and a much better insurance policy too
Thanks for the challenge anyway SAGEO_5.

Found on a visit to the south-east with FeatherWaite to attend the Mega event at Millicent. We teamed up with a few others again today to complete some of the trails and other caches in the area.

With murmurings of more covid-19 community transmissions and the possible need for another lockdown in Queensland, I decided to high-tail it out of there and found myself in South Australia earlier than expected to attend the Mega Event in Millicent After a week in Adelaide, it was time to pick up a little camper van and explore further afield. The Barossa Valley was great for a few days followed by some time in Berri and surrounding areas before heading down towards Millicent
Finally, the day of the Mega Event in Millicent has arrived and I was lucky enough to have escaped Queensland to attend
After the official opening, I joined forces with Liz and Bruce and Wollaston in search of a few challenge caches, adventure labs, and other caches which might come our way on the day We had a great afternoon, and even met a few other cachers at various locations along the way
Thank you SAGEO_5 for creating the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Man alive!! ?? That took some searching. Like looking for a needle in a haystack. Didn’t spot it initially as we overshot it and went too high. Methodically checked everywhere and there it was... finally! Soooo happy when we spotted it. ?? ??

Day 3 of our stay in Millicent for the Mega event. Today we finished the lobster and picked up a good amount of general caches.

Wow that one was hard to spot. Climbed the tree with Wollaston with company from Honeysucker and Liz and Bruce. Great to meet some new people and find this difficult cache.

After grabbing a relatively nearby GCA cache with the use of a kayak borrowed from iml72, and the company of them and Nicko57 we stopped here to try for this one.
Mr iml72 had achieved FTF on this one so was able to point out where we should be looking...and sure enough we could see it from the ground....always easy when you know where it is.
Nicko57 and Mr sylken then made the climb with Nicko57 retrieving the cache. Mr sylken added both names to the log and Nicko57 replaced it being very careful not to get too far out on the bendy branch in the surprisingly strong breeze.
Many thanks for this one SAGEO_5

Joint assault on this one with team sylken and encouragement from iml72, bit windy up there today. Cache dealt with and safely back on Terra firma but gained a few scratches from branches along the way. TFTC
Was pretty windy when came here Saturday arvo, so thinking it was going to be in the clouds, I didn't go further than halfway up...
Then Sat night I watched the mass exodus at the event so many could get their name in the book sans scratches, I declined.
Came back this morning and found the cache, not where I was expecting, but nonetheless getable.... which I did, signing my name at the cache, not with my feet on the ground...

After attending the event in Millicent Mr Tardis rode the moto to GZ. Upon arrival there was a mob of geocachers all with the same idea. I'm glad as I wasn't alone - I can't fit a ladder on the motorbike.

I was part of the Mega Mob who jointly found this cache. When the CO said "if you want the cache find you have to come get it"... I did! I made the climb all the way up to the branch the cache was at but since there was some geo congestion in the tree, I did not go out to the cache. Had it been a quiet day with one or two others I believe I would have made an attempt at reaching the cache.
I was slightly hindered with a pocket full of stamps from the "zombie hoard"at ground level, who were less able or willing. Plus I grabbed another pocket full of stamps from another climber who stayed lower... Aha, so that's how you get your name stamped!

Some serious cache-rape here today. I came after the main horde and climbed up as FishDork followed behind. I'm not sure how a ladder could possibly help you here, there's just too many branches to get it anywhere near the trunk. The climb up wasn't too bad but the last meter out to GZ was a bit challenging. Especially as the tree was swaying in the wind and rain here tonight. I'll have to have a word with your father about that...

The great Southeast Saunter with Anymules down to the Millicent area to find caches associated with the postponed GV2020 mega. But with leave organized and accommodation booked the caching trip was not postponed! [^]
Day 6: Today we grabbed a few nearby caches and once again those unusual D/T combinations to have a go at filling a Traditional Cache Fizzy. As usual there were plenty of stops along the way to grab other caches that we were passing.
After the dinner event I had asked the CO for some guidance as to where to climb to get to this cache. [^] Seems a few others wanted help to and a flash mob formed at GZ. Davidwazza was first up and made his way to GZ swearing at the CO and soon had located the cache. The call went up for him to throw it down to which he replied if you want to sign it then to come up. So I did and was soon on the branch next to Davidwazza. But then up cam Anymules and then the CO and then Lib. It was getting crowded in the tree. I had just finished stamping my name in the log and when the CO suggest room could be saved if just everyone logged it as mega mob. So I wrote that in to save some space. The cache was actually a lot lower than I expected and also easier to get to than I expected but I don't think I would have found it without directions. Very clever hide really. [:X]
***Thanks SAGEO_5 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

There had been talk at the event about a group assault on this cache so a lot of us headed out here just as it was getting dark. It turned into a pretty large flash mob with a few intrepid climbers going up for the cache.
I was happy to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground.

Huge day out with the hound finding caches around Millicent and Mount Burr. Geohusband had to work so reassessed my plan as now the hound was in tow. He had already been out hunting for 2 hours before we left the farm so was already pretty tired. He was then super excited about the road trip and wore himself out even more before we started finding caches.
He loved his day and apart from a scary moment when he got bitten by something (thinking bull ant) on his paw he had a most excellent time. We found 40 caches and enjoyed the celebration event (Rex had burger and donut scraps). He was still puffed on Sunday night.
We found some really cool caches and thank all the CO and especially the Mega committee for all their splendid efforts. We love country caching.
Bonus find for the evening TFTC and to super climber Linda. Shame this wasn’t a D3.5 for to help finish my 2nd loop.

We have made a number trips to Millicent and the South East in relation to the planned (eventual) GeoVenture 2020 Mega Event and the COVID-19 based delays in its date of occurrence.
On each occasion we have found a number of caches (including some rippers!), beta tested some others, and also helped to hide a number with the GV2020 hiding team. We have also beta tested a number of the puzzle caches. We have even placed and then removed a few potential but never published cache containers.
Following our latest trip over the October 2020 long weekend we are now in the process of trying to catch up on our logging from this and from the previous trips.
Oh dear. What can we say about this one? A quick maintenance trio to the cache with the CO turned into a major dial-a-crowd with the eventual signing of the logbook as the Mega group to allow for the huge number who turned up. We did at least manage to get off the ground.

Whilst attending 2020 event a MEGA group got together to locate this cache.. Much discuzsion about the safety aspect especially when could hear the groaning and creaking of tree limbs. Cache eventually spotted and a group log of Mega Mob put on cache . We all then had a group photo taken. It was certainly a memorable cache.

This long weekend, I headed to the Limestone Coast / south-east to participate in the mini/unofficial Millicent GeoVenture2020 Mega weekend (Community Celebration event), as well as some cave diving in the morning to early afternoons. Saturday afternoon consisted of a trip around Tantanoola's pine forests, Sunday was more east around Mount Gambier and those pine forests, and then Monday was heading back spending some time in Dismal Swamp. A weekend of mixed weather with some nice afternoons, as well as continuous rain and drizzles (typical south-east weather?).
Today, I started out with a cave dive, finishing in the early afternoon. I only had a few hours before the main celebration event, so decided to head north to Tantanoola's pine forest for the new *STCL (Sadie The Cleaning Lady)* series. Wow, some of those were hard and tricky, spending a fair amount of time looking. A few more in the area and my vehicle getting temporarily bogged in the mud, before joining everyone in Millicent. A nice afternoon weather-wise.
Wow, what a convoy of cars that visited this geocache! A large group of Geocachers had assembled below, but only a couple of us went up. The tree was a fun one to climb, and once [@gridge98](http://coord.info/PRGKDMY) and I spotted/located the cache, the tricky part was having the nerve of going out along the tree limb. I don't think it was as bad as other [@SAGEO_5](http://coord.info/PRWG8DQ) geocaches, and just needed to steady myself as the branch rocked in the breeze/wind. I used one hand to hold on tight whilst undoing the container, before extracting the logbook. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. The logbook was signed as required, passing it to other Geocachers who were nearby. Once everyone had put their name in, it was then time to return the container back together again. These containers actually suck when it is cable tied tight. My hand that was holding on tight close to the tree's trunk then needed to return to the container, holding that whilst I did everything back together. That was very tricky indeed. The last time I did that, was when we had to beta test the container nearby. Thanks [@SAGEO_5](http://coord.info/PRWG8DQ) for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Came and looked, and similar to some others that we’d stopped at, we can’t spot anything and have no idea where to even start looking in such a huge tree for a tiny cache. I think this whole series can go on the FT list.
