Sorry to miss it - weren’t in Pambula yet to visit the Barnards who originally put us on to geocaching a decade ago! Would have loved to meet the real dghoffy in the flesh. Will content ourselves with picking off a few more VB finds up the Darragh Rd from the home base in South Pambula. Love your work!
Fitzy_1965 and I could not pass up the opportunity to catch up with dghoffy so when we saw they were holding Community Celebration Event, we jumped at the chance.
We headed to the far south coast on Friday afternoon, arriving in good time and with plenty of time for a nice chat into the late evening. It had been more than two years of catching up.
Saturday morning, we were up early to get to the main event. It was great to see some other Canberrans had made the trip down the coast and even better was the arrival of a few young locals. Let’s hope they continue to enjoy our hobby and put more caches out themselves. The highlight of the event was a lift in the back of the Hof’s new 4WD so that we could all do their new Adventure Lab in the Panboola Wetlands. After a few days of heavy rain, the back part of the track was well and truly under water. I managed to work my way around in bare feet…..I wouldn’t suggest that for future finders LOL.
Once the event was over, fitzy and I picked up a few caches here and finished off the day with fish and chips before attending another event.
Thanks to all the CO’s for placing and maintaining their hides. We had no problems today.

Chooo ooo [attebded] with youban and dty73! Great little road trip to get here, and great to catch up with fellow cachers! And what about the weather! Perfect! Especially after all that rain! Thanks dghoffy!
I came down with Youban and Tankengine particularly for this event and it didn’t disappoint.
The food was yummy, the games were fun and the walk around the track for the AL was a great adventure. To which we really appreciated the advice of the COs to buy some thongs as the recent rains have flooded the area. Luckily we got two pairs of thongs for $5 and one for $3 from the Op Shop which were well worth it. The lift by the CO through the first deep water at the entrance was very much appreciated too.
Thanks for putting on this event. Great catching up with the CO and other caching friends.

26,602. Attended this fun Community celebration Event in Pambula with minniek and the usual suspects from the Canberra region - outnumbering the locals !
We don't need much of an excuse to do a trip down to the Merimbula / Tura Beach / Pambula region. When we saw that dghoffy had published their Community Celebration Event it was a given that we would go. We booked in to our favourite AirB&B in Tura Beach, and ventured down yesterday evening. We arrived at the beach I mean reserve and found it was high tide. It was fun playing the games and enjoying those cherries ! Soon it was time to catch our water taxi to start the nearby new Adventure Lab.
Thanks dghoffy for the fun and well run event !

Due to the rain, access to the gathering is somewhat underwater so we will be relocating the gathering to higher ground at GC3FXCP s36 55 931 E 149 52 562. For those who want to do the adventure lab caches we will be providing a 4wd ferry service over the flooded section.
