Thanks Angus for this wonderful series which today I finally completed. It took a few years of gradual chipping away. This series gets a Fav.I actually did this section backwards starting at Sheffield and walking to the Mountain Bike Parking area. I took a bunch of Muggles with me and three Geo Dogs and everyone enjoyed themselves. Fortunately it was overcast which help particularly in the open farmland areas. After the walk we returned to Sheffield for lunch to complete a beautiful Geocaching day.Cache was in excellent condition.

In Tassie for the next few months. So many great places to visit and so many different caches to find.Staying nearby so we could get out and do some of the bike trail again today. Enjoyed the ride a variety of scenery. Most hides were found with only a short search with good hint where needed. Thanks Angus88 for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.

Today we headed out from our camp at the Sheffield Pub to finish off the rail trail caches that I had begun on Christmas Day. We walked out to the furthest cache and then cached our way back. All caches we looked for were found and we enjoyed our walk. We were glad we were not up Mt Roland today as it was covered in a very dark cloud. The beasts in the fields were super interested in us some of them were glorious. One very fat healthy black snake encountered on the track I dont know who got more of a fright the snake or me .Thanks for all the caches and this series I have enjoyed it and so has my heart health. This fence not on today but husband has been demonstrating to me that a lot of the rest are. Decided to combine a couple of my hobbies this evening, running and geocaching. Nice flat trail on a beautiful evening.
Took a look in a 2nd spot as gps had me a bit off
Thanks for maintaining the cache

It is a habit of mine to not conform and this is a good example. Starting in Sheffield on the 16th I decided to do this one backwards and took a few days off in the middle. At first I was a bit clumsy, trying to get the caches without taking off my big heavy hiking pack full of camping and cooking gear. At one point I tripped and did a somersault into a soft grassy ditch, pack and all. From that point I began taking it off to retrieve the hides. It was good exercise.
There was some wildlife, tiger snakes, one was on a cache, and a jack jumper nest under a cache.
All in all, it was a great geocache trail and an excellent walking track with caves and waterfalls.
Thank you Angus88!

Adelaide to Hobart Road Trip.
Day Three: Devonport Ferry to Latrobe (via Penguin and Sheffield).
Weather: sensational.

This is one of two caches that I found on the very impressive looking power trail between Sheffield and Railton. I was hoping to quickly boost my number of finds in Tasmania for a challenge in Adeliade.

Unfortunately I had two problems here. The first was that I was having trouble with phone signal such that cache pages were not loading, so I was just left with a string of dots on a map. The other was that the grass is currently very high, at least at this end of the trail, and so hard going to find anything at ground level.

I decided to give up on this, but but be more than willing to have another go if I get the chance.

An awesome body of work, thanks Angus88.

We have planned this day so many times before and finally today on Geocaching World Record day, CoxFamily7310 and I were able to head out on our Railton to Sheffield adventure together.

We found 52 caches, my highest number in one day!! Our day also included, walking a few km (got a beautiful blister to show for these ), an adventure lab, replaced a cache for another CO, some easy finds, some crazy coords, some slips, slides and falls, crawling in caves, jumping creeks, caching by torch and only a couple of DNFs.

So much fun, thanks so much for placing and maintaining all caches found today. I apologise for the general post but I know I’ll never get them all logged individually.

We started at Sheffield today and worked our way back to Railton, completing the track in reverse.

Pay extra attention to the electric fence peeps, I read the warning, got excited to find the fence, got a tiny zap (my first for the day apparently I don’t learn after the first time ), we still had the cache found and signed super fast

Massive thanks also to CoxFamily7310 for an amazing day out.

out caching with the Rafa family in the north of the state, TFTC TNLN log dry, a cool weekend with lots of caches on the list.

Thank you for the cache Angus88.
Staying in Sheffield for the weekend with RLD4963 and the two GeoGSP's.
RLD4963 had done a small section of the Railton-Sheffield rail trail during a visit in February. We have always planned to come back and spend a weekend here so we could attempt the remaining sections of the trail. Today was the day!
A quick retrieve and sign of the cache.

It was a Big enjoyable day out caching with ANNAGJW on a nice Sunny winter's day (even managed to get sunburnt). Have had this on our to-do list for some time, so with Anna trying to make it to find her 300th by the end of the month we finally organised a caching day together.! I found my 1100th cache along the way. Nice to get out and have a good day doing caching after not finding many in the last year.
Started at the Sheffield end and worked our way down to Railton. 52 finds including an adventure lab. With only 1 DNF we were happy with the day.

Thanks, Angus88 for placing all these caches for our enjoyment.

Yes, don't get zapped!! Anna did then managed to get a scratch from the barbed wire.....Starting to fill the cold blow across the paddock.

Found this one on a cloudy and windy day

07-Jul-21
Such a lovely crisp frosty morning with clear sunny skies and no wind. So we're off on a little caching expedition with newbie cacher daughter to lift her tally and add some more to ours. Found soon enough to spur us on for the walk across the farm to the next one. No tractors, belligerent farmers or muggles to contend with here. Curious cattle wanting something different to eat though ! Decided NOT to test our conductivity attributes today. All good here at GZ. Thanks Angus88

Found a bit of barbed wire first

25-Jun-21
Found it, logged it, next!!!

Looked at the wrong place for too long and even had my arm all the way disappeared up to my shoulder, TazScout found it a few meters away.....

This weekends adventures was instigated by TazScout with a discussion/statement 'Day Walk' followed by a map of the area around Sheffield and Railton on the 8th of April, after we all talked to our significant others and arrangements made and diaries double and triple checked we had a sort of plan on the 15th and accommodation was booked for a busy weekend of walking between Sheffield and Railton collecting those caches along with any other GC or GCA we could find the time to grab as we were in the area.

Along with a wonderful walk we had time to catch up with friends and find some great caches, so a perfect use of our time, i think we all were better for a caching weekend and swear we wont leave it as long next time, thanks to all the CO's for making this trip possible.

Thanks for the cache.

I don't squat well, but I had plenty of company who could. A quick find.

It was TazScout who first mentioned the idea of doing the Sheffield to Railton rail trail caches. I suggested this weekend to tie in with a CITO in Devonport that I had organized to attend, and a plan came together fairly quickly. Hotel rooms were scarce around the area but we managed to find a place to accommodate stainless steel rat, the egg and I. TazScout has a busy weekend so drove out to meet us for the day.
As always, our day started with coffee whilst we did a car shuffle before starting at 'The End'. We talked non-stop as we walked, it had been a long time since all five of us had been together and we had a lot of news to catch up on. The company was great, the weather was perfect, and we really couldn't have asked for a better day.
Thanks for all the caches today.

Had a day out with Stainless Steel Rat and Goose & Egg. Decided we'd tackle the Railton/Sheffield run. Of course we picked the busiest weekend of the month with three events in the area one of which being cycling so we had plenty of company on the track.

I'm afraid I"m going to have to send a long run of very boring log posts. If the cache was big enough I left a Scout behind but otherwise all my notes on each find have vanished into my phone storage so I"m relying on memory. I do remember the hole mentioned in the previous post and we were VERY careful of the electric fence in this spot.
Thanks for a great run of finds with no DNFs in sight.

Pretty sure I found the right spot but there’s a deep hole around the post and I have a feeling it’s down there. Wasn’t game enough to put my arm all the way down there though!

21st January 2021. Maintenance check proves that cache is in place and in good condition. The cache however, has been replaced with the new 'double cache system' where the log is inside a second cache. This is done with the hope of keeping the log dry. Please replace the log carefully.

This area of caches had been selected to be done after the Community Event held at Latrobe a couple of weeks ago but as it was pouring with rain we left them. Today we headed out with Tassie Trekkers in glorious sunshine to find them. The coords did wander a bit so we were pleased with the detailed hints. A lovely trail. Thanks for placing and sharing this area with us. TFTC

Today we targeted this series of caches with whitewebbs that form part of the Tasmanian Trail between Sheffield and Railton. We started early when the breeze was cool but soon became hotter as we worked our way to Railton.

Some were easy to find, but others took some time as we had trouble with co-ords. Cache and contents were in good condition.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Not easy to spot while trying to keep one's face clear of the wire.
As we were walking away the cows came our way and one was particularly aggressive. Thankfully the electric wire was sufficient. But that didn't help our nerves.

A trip to Launceston and Devonport on Thursday and Friday with a a night in Launceston. Thursday was work and Friday was a day off, so I took advantage of the new caches in Devonport and Railton for a run on my way to my target of 500 finds for the year. After a very successful day, I came home with 58 cache finds and 2 and nature lab stages.... so 60 which was a good day considering I was home by 7pm. Thursday weather wasn’t very good, so little was down after work, but Friday was a perfect day for caching. Not to hot not raining.
Really enjoyed a walk along the Tasmanian trail. And all was good until on the back roads to Railton, where one stop I was surprised by a tiger snake, which luckily didn’t seem interest3d in me. To be honest it was about 10 metres away, but going Parallel to my walking path.... I don’t like snakes.

Anyway. Managed to finish The Tasmanian trail whole series which deserves the huge favourite point.

Avoided the electric fence on this one.

Heading north for a few days, no real plan, by the look of the weather that will most likely determine what we do.

The weather was looking good so we decided to see how far we would get in this series. We decided to start at the end.....as you do. The start was very wet and but improved the further we went along the track.

Went to the more obvious post but expand the search and got it!!

With the treat of a cloudy day and maybe some rain we set out to collect a few caches in this series.
All we found with excellent coordinates and helpful hints!

Thanks Angus for a great series - we will collect the rest in the following weeks !

A good work out for the hamstrings and quad muscles Smile

Great co rods. Thank you for the cache from GeoMaggie and her sidekick Bonnie.

15-Sep-20
Yeah, finally finished this series.
Another quick find made here then Mrs Beetle rode on to Sheffield while Mr Beetle and the muggle riding with us rode back to Railton and then came and picked me up.
This section of the track had certainly dried out compared to a couple of weeks ago when we walked through here.
Thanks again for the series and giving us another bike riding option.

When we had completed some tasks in Devonport the weather had improved significantly and we continued on to Railton. We had not intended to look for Bonus 2 and 3 as the weather in Ulverstone had been very unpleasant when we left. However the sun was out and the sky clear so we made the 1km out and back trip along the end Sheffield end of the trail.

The start of the trail was a little muddy but we were still able to by pass the worst sections. Spot on coordinates meant a quick find for Bonus 3. Everything was in good condition and the log book blank so another {FTF} at 13:25. Glad of the CO's warning as the electric fence wire is very close when returning the container to its neat hiding spot.

Thanks for this cache Angus88 and for a reason to return to this trail.
