Hi 63ROOS. Today I found your cache History of New Norfolk. After a delayed start this morning, a phone call ruined the plan to go to South Arm and surrounds. Plan2A was then activated and we took off up the Derwent to go fishing and find some caches. Thanks for hiding the cache for me to find today. Finding this cache takes my GC finds to 5016 and I found it at 09:30 on Saturday 27 Jul 2024FTF: NoMates: VK7HCHMuggles: noneMy EPE: Condition: GoodWeather: overcastMy favorites:Creative - Back to the future 1 by peaches (GCA5JYD)Hardest - Men in Black Holes by SG-3 (Archived)Most visited - Dragons Lair by Shagzter (GC2E33)
Thanks 63ROOS for hiding this cache. Now that my calendar and streak are completed, I can just cache for the fun of it. Your Mystery cache, History of New Norfolk, was just what I needed to get me out of the house and exercising. This is my find #1832 at 09:31 on 27/7/2024. Today Zozetta and I went caching at New Norfolk, starting the day with a find at Granton, then went up the Lyell Highway, finding a few more caches along the way. We found thirteen caches in New Norfolk, then made our way back down the Highway, finding a few more caches along the way. We ended the day with another find at Granton, a multi which I DNFed a year ago, so it was good to turn that into a smiley. A great day out with twenty caches found, ten traditionals, five adventure lab locations, two mysteries, two multis, and an EarthCache.
I solved this puzzle in October, and today we had a quick find.
Thanks for the puzzle and cache 63ROOS!

Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.
We visited New Norfolk today as I wanted to see where the settlers from Norfolk Island were sent to from 1807 to 1814 when the Colonial authorities closed the Norfolk Island settlement for the first time. TFTC

Lovely place for a cache! Had breakfast in NN and then went looking for smileys. TFTC!
After doing the required work in the town caravan park last night, we made our way to Gz for the scenic find this morning

Found and signed while on a 10 day holiday with my love doing what we love doing most. [:X]
A quick Google search, and cat' and I soon found ourselves looking out over another amazing view and signing another prize for our efforts. Thanks 63ROOS for your efforts in placing this educational hide. [^]
After being chased South a little early by the weather, catnap777 and I just set up camp in Hobart for a little while longer which suited us just fine. We had a lot of geocaching business down there that kept us very busy till well after the water's had receded back up north. [^]
This cache aided our challenge aspirations by giving us a find in Derwent County. By the end of our holiday, we had found and signed a log for at least one cache in every county on the main Island.

I enjoyed your History Mysteries so thank you 63ROOS. It was so nice meeting you at the CITO and I can't wait to cross paths with you again.
We had this trip to Tasmania on our wish list very soon after we met. The meticulous planning began a few months ago when we finally set a date to sail to a place that I had been before, but never cached, and for dalerious, a place he cached, but never really got to see the real beauty of this place, and all it's glory. God's country about sums it up.
We started our adventure in the North West and traversed the entire Island in 10 days. We thought the weather was going to thwart our plans, but all it did was change the itinerary a tad.
Where back home was flooding, we had mostly sunshine here; apart from the North of your lovely state, and our thoughts were with those who were affected both here and at home.
Caches here took us to extraordinary places; one's we will never forget.
We also got to meet some cachers; we can't wait to meet the rest .

Worked out the coordinates quite some time ago but this was the first opportunity for me to make the search. A quick find was made.
This one has been on my list to complete for ages but I have never got around to do it.
Some thought I better complete while out looking for a couple new locations for a cache I want to place.
Nice hide. Thank you.

Camped at Gretna , too wet to tackle the Something smells fishy series today Getting a few caches around New Norfolk in lieu of tackling the dirt roads. TFTC
Day 4 still camping and caching in and around the district. Pulpit Rock is a well known landmark to me, having walked or cycled along Boyer Rd to and from school back in the 60's of last century. Puzzle was solved and ready to go for some time. Today was the day ! All in good nick at GZ, with a resident huntsman as watchman attached to the bottom of the container. TFTC 63ROOS.
We were passing by today and decided to head up here for a quick diversion and short stretch of the legs. The cache was found easily with good coords. TFTC!

Also left a piece of swag for trading!

Another very worthwhile history lesson from 63ROOS. I have been here a number of times in the past, but geocaching and 63ROOS work have added to my knowledge and brought me to this spot with a spectacular view. I set out on the geo-cycle, but can't say that I rode it up steep winding track! Coming down was certainly a lot quicker! Fortunately I managed to stay out of the loose stuff and thus clear of that steep drop-off. The way some people trash this beautiful country of ours makes me angry though - way too much rubbish left here, along with chopped up hard pan from hoons. Go figure?!
On a (another) day where the fog didn’t lift in the valley until after lunch it was great to be able to see the view from here this afternoon. TFTC .
Today we decided to head to New Norfolk and surrounds and find a few more caches that we have not found and to make them a smilie. A great day out, not too cold, sun out allowed us to enjoy the great outdoors.
After working through the co-ords we found the cache quickly. We have been here before, great views from the lookout on a sunny day. Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Solved last night back at home i loaded this ones co-ords into my smartphones GPS ready for today on my 'NN Clean-Sweep'
Off to the final and the quick find was made. Pity the trees block the view here but if you stop on your way back there are clearings that offer stunning views of the town and river [^]

My last day in Tasmania and I was lucky to meet up with Lady membsec and head out for an adventure. I mentioned I had never been to this area before and LadyM was more than happy to join me for the lovely drive.
Before leaving Brisbane I had solved quite a few of this series just in case I happened to be passing any of the towns.
Geez! The road to GZ is a bit hairy!!! Thankfully we only passed one vehicle coming the other way on one of the bends, so there was still a bit of room to pass. It was all worth it for the view however.
At GZ it didn’t take long to have the container in hand. I left my scribble and took the TBs to move along.
This area could do with a CITO.
Thanks for the cache 63ROOS
Happy to part with a FP for the view!

Rubbish everywhere up here and at GZ unfortunately doesn’t make this much fun. The puzzle was easy enough and the cache was a quick find. Took 2 Tbs
Today I headed to Hobart to attended the celebration event in the evening and decided to make a day of it and find some caches along the way, around new Norfolk, the CBD and lenah valley . A great day out with around 60 finds.
Thanks for the cache

Solved last night and thought a drive was in order for today. Got to gz and there was a muggle but the cache is far enough away to not be seen. TFTC
Took a break from preparing the house for some changes and nipped off up to new Norfolk for a few caches. Of course it decided to rain, so my idea to grab the caches near Brighton will have to wait for another day.
Nice little run around new Norfolk. All caches were in good condition.

Hi 63ROOS if you had of told me I would have been driving up that road again today I would have said no way but that was before I found the coordinates to this cache. Thanks for the well hidden cache and also dropped off four TB's (3 of my own - new release).
Hi 63ROOS

The cache was Sainted at 1332 hours

We thought the wind would not be so bad today and we were hoping for great weather! Wind not too bad and the sun came out a few times!
Had worked out the puzzle on the day it came out but couldn’t come to the area until today. Have been here a few times and always love the views.
Nice walk to GZ and interesting container that we recognise, nicely done.

I remember coming up here to a cache that is now archived, assumed missing. We had a look and the old cache is still there with the original logbook from 2004.
Interesting history puzzle and good size cache.
With so many new caches, it was a pretty easy decision for our caching destination today. As is customary, stainless steel rat and I stopped for a takeaway coffee before heading to Bridgewater to do the trail there along the Derwent foreshore then up to New Norfolk for Pizza lunch at the market and a few more caches. We came down the western side of the river and picked up a couple more caches up in the hills on the way home.
Thanks for the cache 63ROOS

Today's caching was to be a bit of a loop round Bridgewater and New Norfolk to collect the new caches that have come out since I was last up this way.
I picked the Goose up at just after 9 and after a few caches on the North side of the river we had a lunch of Pizza at the market before finding a few on th way home, as a bonus there was a new GCA published and we just managed a FTF.
A good hide in a place I had never been to before and had some great views.

Thanks for the puzzle cache which highlights the history of New Norfolk, 63ROOS.
In the area this afternoon with the GeoGSP and made our way to GZ to see if we could find the cache. Wandered around in a few circles before spotting the hiding spot. All is good at GZ.

Hello 63ROOS thank you for the cache
This evening EeePees and I were out caching before our BNO.
After a lovely walk in the dark through the bush your cache was easily found.

We enjoyed the research for this puzzle and it wasn't long before we had a set of coordinates which were confirmed by the checker. Today we went to look for the cache. We were a little apprehensive that our car would get to the location as the last time we visited (many years ago) the road was in poor condition. We were very pleasantly surprised - the road was easily negotiated by our low clearance 2WD car. Once at the parking area, accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks 63ROOS for an enjoyable cache.
Out and about on another glorious spring day finding caches that have recently appeared and this was one of them. Mrs W. had the puzzles solved in this series as soon as they were published so it was nice to turn it into a smiley. TFTP and for adding a nice cluster of caches in New Norfolk.
