Short Trip Away Day #2 [24/11] of 3Day two of my holidays (and day #2 of 3 for my trip away) saw me having a slow start. I ate Bfast and then headed off to catch up with some non-geocaching and ex-geocaching friends at the Woden church. Along the way I stopped off quickly to find the final cache in the Under Athllon cache in the series which was the second cache of the three. After church and the catch up with my friends, I headed over to the arboretum for the lunchtime Geo-event. It was a great event with all talk Geo and yummy snag sandwiches. Next I headed down the hill to the lake to find some of the newer caches that has popped up recently, including a very unique AL. I then went up Black Mountain to find a couple of ALs and a bonus cache. From there I started making my way back to the motel but not before finding two more cache which has been on the to-find-list for far too long. I also quickly stopped off to get some dinner. TB visit. Some caches were signed as JM. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTE & TFTCs! This cache was my last find of the day. I have been here a couple of times but couldn't spot it in the dark or muggles pulled up behind me. Today, neither was the case, except for the muggles driving by while I was finding it. A couple of minutes of searching and I had the cache in hand. It was signed and replaced ready for the next finder. Now off to get some dinner and head back to the motel. Thanks
I have stopped here before, it was hot that day I remember and I had to give up for some reason not after long. Anyhoo, today it was much cooler, I was in the area after an FTF and thought to collect another couple of caches this way while the clounds held back the heavy rain just yet. Parked right at GZ and went to work, tyring a more logical approach maybe or just lucky I spied it this time in any case I made a quick find and was super thirlled to have this one found now. Thank you InnocentApple for putting the cache out, maintaining it and contributing to this great hobby we have. Happy trails, Flintstone's
8.10amAttending Mega from Qld and today have joined RoddyC hatzofff and Imbunda for another day of geocaching in Canberra. After an early morning event and brekkie, we are now ready for some serious caching.Parked nearby and made my way to GZ where the search started. Looked inside the fence, outside the fence, up and down but no having any luck. Read through previous logs and I had an idea of where it might me. Being vertically challenged I searched the car (borrowed my sons) found a small folding camp stool that might help me reach my search area. Poised on one foot I searched around but nothing. Repositioned myself to get a better footing to restart my search when a police car stopped nearby. Was ready to let them know what I was doing but they then just left. Back to my quest and back on the stool, I finally found the cache. With log signed cache was returned. What a fun activity so early in the day. Tftc
Found while attending the Mega event in Canberra over Easter. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team waldron, courtney rose, davidwazza, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. Found during the Mega event in Canberra over the Easter long weekend. Our team comprised courtneyrose_, Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Featherwaite, Freddo, gridge98 and Team Waldron, signing the logs as ABP to save time, and space in the logbooks, or with our individual caching names. Enjoyed a great weekend away finding a rewarding range of cache types, d/t combinations, cache hides and retrievals. Thanks for the cache InnocentApple!
Found on our journey over the week here. This weekend was mega weekend and we headed over with Courtneyrose_ Freddo, Team Waldron, e.gregory1, Davidwazza and Featherwaite as part of our team called: ABP (Alphabet People), the log books were either signed with the name, ABP or our individual caching names.A great weekend away in the capital and a very well organised mega, it was nice to be back in the ACT caching once again over easter with great weather. Thanks for the cache

InnocentApple's rival bridge banter VII3.0/1.5 Micro Traditional Cache Thank you for the cache InnocentApple.30 March 2024 7:51am
Headed out with one of the geokids for a short four cache haul. This one took use a little while, but luckily geohusband is taller than I! Thanks for the cache.
I attempted this one a long time ago as a baby geocacher, and was left flummoxed. Upon return today, cache was quickly grabbed - but it is very elegantly hidden!I am glad to tick this nemesis off from my local area.TFTC!
Knightech and I finally found this one. As it turns out, one doesn't need to go inside the fence ... TFTC.
Sneaky little ****
No luck yesterday with full traffic. Today at 10:30PM it was easier to find a time between cars

After a previous DNF, I contacted the CO for a hint! I've been sitting on that for close to 12 months now but popped back today to avenge my previous DNF. TFTC IA.
I walked around the fence as this was where the hint indicated the cache would be. Whilst searching the back of the sign, three police officers came up and indicated that I was trespassing and was to leave the area immediately. I then had to provide identification and they took down my details. I do not think I will coming back to this one.
#1516 Decided to do one last cache before heading home for the evening and stopped in here. We were intrigued by the recent DNFs as well as the owner drop by that stated it was still in place. We reached GZ after parking nearby and begun our search.
There was plenty of ideas being thrown around for the location of this one but we kept ourselves grounded and followed the scent of the D/T and size. A few different spots checked but the perfect angle lined up Turtles eyes to spot the well hidden little guy.
Added our names to the log and continued on our way, a fairly successful day out in Queanbeyan today! Thanks InnocentApple for the hide!

#3362 On our way out of Queanbeyan after a puzzle and a multi, this cache caught our attention.
Setting our attention based on size and D/T I eventually caught just a glimpse of the long hidden container.
Retreated to the shade of the bridge for logging and back over for replacement by DeadThief.
Happy to confirm the cache is still in play for the next avid hunters.

Decrypter and I searched for some time, even places which were definitely not 1.5T. We had a hard time imagining where a 1.5T cache could be hiding. DNF!
We looked about the signs. I even climbed up on the fence and over to the other side, a place where it shouldn't be necessary to go for a mere 1.5T cache. After lots of searching, a DNF.
Out for a quick bout of (local) interstate caching with a like-minded buddy today. This was a quick and easy find at GZ, thanks IA.
A late morning start for a spot of caching to get a bit of exercise. Later we met up with our colleagues to pick up a few targeted caches.
A quick pick up road side on our way through. TFTC InnocentApple.

I had to head out to Queanbeyan to pick up my van after a service. So after not being able to reach the hide on a previous visit, I came prepared with a step. It was exactly where I had hoped. I just need to grow a bit to do these things from the ground.
Thanks for the cache InnocentApple

A solo misssion this morning to pick up a bunch of recently solved caches. Afterwards I came here. I had previously found the cache, but had not been able to open it. Today I came prepared and soon had it opened and signed, TFTC.

ALL7 ran a check for me while I’m out of town. Cache is still there. All good. Happy hunting
Looked with O319 but didn't find it. We think that the hint is no longer relevant as the picture is different to the one in loci612's log.
Today Loci612, All7 and I went to do the new power trails between Captains Flat and Braidwood. It was a lovely sunny day so we had the Air Conditioner on for most of the day. It was very windy in the morning and just hot and dry in the late afternoon.
A great day out, weather aside, and TikvaNZ's celebration event was a nice way to end the day by the lake and with absence of the crazy wind, finally! Nice to have a chat and the cake and sausages were great, as was the nice ice cold drinks but sadly I could not stay longer as a New Adventure Lab Cache was published. Loci612 and I took off like bulls at a gate. Before long we finished the Adventure Lab and had the Bonus Cache in hand to claim the First To Find.
Thanks for your event that was part of an enjoyable day! All up I placed 14 Multi Caches and found just over 30. Lets not forget the FTF also. Not a bad day at all
I have included one of the Geocaching poems that I have written. I hope that anyone reading it likes it. Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with 30 plus finds including the 10 Adventure Lab stages it is hard to write a different one for each cache.
Thanks TikvaNZ this was an excellent event..

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN
My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

I am currently writing more detailed logs than usual. This is because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author" Badge. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to write an average of one hundred words or more in each Found It log. As of 30th November 2020 my average was 160 words per log, which seems close to the 200 words per log target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After 7600 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 160 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.

This is a very TOUGH hide! [:o] Couldn't believe it when we found it, admit that we did need a previous finders help, otherwise I don't think I would have found it at all as it was hidden very well and I could barely find it even when I knew where to look!
Not sure what is wrong with the container however, but it seems to be jammed shut. We all attempted to unscrew it, but had no luck. Instead a picture of the container, with the hint item in the background as proof of find. I am sure that advertisement will change one day though and the hint won't be accurate.... that will confuse people!
Thanks!

Out caching today with DSD and ALL7 before heading to the Community Celebration event in the city at 5pm.
We started with the new ALL7 power trail caches that myself and DSD had not yet collected, as we still had some gaps after getting FTF on a bunch and running out of time the other day! Our third visit to this trail, but we managed to tick them off finally It was good to have the CO there especially for the one we DNF'd last time..... tough little thing!
We soon ran into J+J.au and teamed up for the final caches in the trail, before joining out heads together for a very tough AL in Captains Flat. Despite there being 5 people and a total of 59,000 finds between our accounts, we still couldn't work out the AL without help, TWICE! But got there eventually and the bonus made up for it all.
We then headed back towards Canberra, picking up a couple caches along the way, before making our way to the event to quench our thirst and hunger with some sausages and soft drink! Well done Tikva, an absolutely fabulous event to end a good Sunday of caching, the crowd that showed up was impressive too!
Thanks to all the CO's for today's caches!

On a wet, wet, wet Saturday morning you’d think people would have reason to stay inside. Well I think everyone in Queanbeyan drove past me while I was out looking for this one. Soaking wet I resorted to a tip from a previous finder which I was soon then able to make out the sneaky hide. Covering the log from the rain it was a quick sign and replace before retreating back to the geomobile parked nearby. TNLNSL TFTC
*FTF* 1.45PM with dty73. Out to get a daily cache so off to Queanbeyan as its rich with unfound caches for us both. Going past the city and a message had us returning home again, sorted and we were on our way when new caches appeared, one right where we were going!
slight problem as we needed fuel so into the airport, actually was a good move as its super cheap, and also as we were leaving a new cache and its on the way, only 4km away!
Endless traffic as we stood and looked but the hint is good and spotted it quickly, dty73 was back to the car for a useful TOTT and cache soon in hand for a blank log and signed initials to fit.
Thanks for the cache InnocentApple, off to the next cache which proved a little eventful along the way!
