Staying down the road a bit farmsitting for my sister while visiting from Sydney. Not a particularly nice day for caching with a bit cold and windy so just grabbed on the way back from a quick trip to Countdown. Not sure what the Please Shut the Gate sign is referring to! Thanks captainultra.
Day 16: Around TaranakiTodays journey took us around the Taranaki Region, where we headed as far south as Cape Egmont before heading up to Pukeiti, and back to New Plymouth for two more parks: Tpare and Pukekura Parks. After that, we searched for the best views of the Maunga from Te Wera Wera Bridge and walked the Coastal Walkway back to the Port. Another truly productive day, and thanks for all the caches around the Taranaki Region. (End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache: A nice quick find here once I found my way over the fences. A herd of sheep was watching me as I did this I wonder why there is so little information around about the place - seems to have become private land now. TFTC!
Dropped sprog #2 off at a sleepover party over this side of town so sprog #1 and I drove the extra 2.5kms to this cache! I’ll warn you now..the farmer has closed access off to the cache by taking the gate out and wiring a fence in. Didn’t stop us though and we climbed that sucker and quickly made our way to the cache before we were seen. I had brought a new waterproof log and bag to replace the ‘soggy lump’ that’s been reported here but only to find another group has already been through and replaced it. Quickly signed log and got the heck outta there TFTC
Did some acrobatics over the fence and quickly found the cache in the first spot we looked. Thanks!
planned group attack on new Plymouth for this long weekend.
with squirrel nutcase eyespyben and ABCDF4
kiwiana trail was our main goal but anything else will be great.
this was back to the car to get another log sheet
cache mush. you think we would remember to take a spare with us .

With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap)... A planned expedition into the Taranaki region. All logs were signed with our individual handles, or Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa) depending on who accessed the logbook first...
King's Birthday Monday: We were unsure how to approach this hide as the landowner appears to have removed external access. Nevertheless, we jumped the fence and hurriedly made our way to ground zone. The cache took a few sweeps to uncover, and we were dismayed to find pulp for a logbook. This just won’t do! We had to return to the vehicle to get a replacement, and then it was another swift trek to replace the cache… Job done! Thanks captainultra. TFTC.

First of 10 caches located today on our drive on the “Surf Highway” SH45 between New Plymouth and Hawera. This was a quick find. Photographed saturated log, as attached. #5752. TFTC.
I was on my regular fortnightly visit to Wanganui (from Wellington) this weekend, and despite the steady rain over this side of the country I found myself visiting New Plymouth for the afternoon today. After taking care of some errands we had some time to get out for a few geocaches before the wet got too much. This was one that we found.
The rain was really coming down by the time we got here, however my caching companion had an interest in local history so was very keen to visit this interesting spot. No problem finding the cache as described, however as the container is far from waterproof the log paper was a soggy lump and not able to be signed. Photo attached instead.

#13,124. Park, walk and grab on South Road in Omata. GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Quick find. The cache was wet inside. Tried to dry the log a bit. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

Out with D6NZ in New Plymouth today to collect a few Geocaches. Selected the Lagoon as a nice cluster and set out.
Having finished at the Lagoon and still an hour to spare we targeted a couple of nearby caches to round the day off.
Read the details of the cache while parked on the side of the road and simply walked straight to it without the need for a GPS device.
Log sheet was very very wet so D6 left another slip of paper with our names on it.
Thanks.

Out and about on a last minute caching expedition.
Mrs rattll wandered over for this one while Mr rattll waited in the car.
A straight forward find, but as reported before the log is soaked. I scratched in something, but could see the ink running already. I do have a photo if needed.
Thanks for setting this up

Nice spotted on the way back to New Plymouth. Unfortunately log soaked, so photo taken.
I enjoyed the prompt to search more, not many photos at archives but got some good history from Google search. Unfortunately the log is very wet. Managed to make a mark but it's probably illegible. Really must get some waterproof logs that we can add to caches that need them. Tftc
I remember visiting this site years ago (and the previous cache), and I think there was an information board, telling the story - pity it's gone now, as it's quite an unusual one. I checked it out online when we got home. Good views from the top, too. Glad we stopped on such a lovely afternoon. TFTC
Lovely day to visit the stockade quick find and sign then went up to check the view TFTC
First cache in awhile taking a friend to show her how it's done log is very damp but all in all a good find tftc
A new cache in new Plymouth and so while we were over in that side of town , after going on Caddy's - we went to visit this cache I have seen the sign many times and often thought amazing that there is no cache here1 but now there is

Quick find. Good to have a cache where you can hunt out of view of public. TFTC
First cache for 2021. Had a good look while at the top of the Pa for the view, accompanied briefly by some sheep. Missed seeing the cat (Miow4).
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
We soon had another good cache located.
*No problem, quick stop!*

Cache was quickly located after visiting my grandparents nearby. This used to be a waypoint for a multi cache which I found will have to have a look and see if that's still active
Today was a dot day so I looked for a cache near by to find this afternoon. I picked this one because it was recently hidden in a month I hadn't found - also happened to be on my birthday.
At GZ it was an easy find before I headed up to have a quick look around.
