Last time we attempted this cache we were constantly muggled out and decided to leave it for another time. Today we were back in Mt Beauty and decided to try again. No muggles in sight, so parked safely off the road and headed for the Briarpatch. SL at 2.19pm Left: windmill pathtag #11,046 TFTC nordic ned

After having spent the week in mount beauty with the weather not too condusive for another day on the mountain with the geo kids we opted to spend the afternoon caching. The geo son loved exploring the local creek for this cache

The day started off nicely, but quickly went to WET when we were at Harrietville!
We got a few done there before getting soaked (us and the doggies!)
The rain didn't look like it was going to stop in the next few weeks so we set off for Mt Beauty where we are staying. We shall return for a few more SNOMO caches.

Interesting history of this spot.
Been a lot of new planting in the area, but it just has made it really easy to get to GZ, but not troubled the hide.
Glad to see the hide did not live up to the title!
Thanks, Robmc.

#18065. Having not been away anywhere for almost 2 years Rob suggested we book a couple of nights at Mt Beauty. We had no sooner done this than WHAM Ronice88's GeoArt SCOMO hit my emails. Rob immediately started to work through them, getting more and more grey hair by the minute.

So today it was a Bright, Harrietville, Mt Beauty day with 15 finds and 2 DNF's. The weather ruined our caching time at Harrietville so we will return when the weather is better.

Our last find of the day as we make our way to the Caravan Park. Hopefully we will find some more tomorrow without getting too wet. A nice little area being created here by the water.

Thanks nordic ned

Yes, it is on the other side, but the land is owned by the crown and probably a water frontage licence area which permits pedestrian access. But best to keep to streamside trees. But one could get the feet wet! Thanks to CO for this almost tricky cache. NB, saw big fish here.
Ref: alpineshire website
The land is zoned Public Conservation and Resource Zone.

Found after a big walk on Vails Hill (keeping COVID restrictions in mind). Have looked at this one before they cleared it.

28-Apr-21
Had been on the wrong side a few days earlier. Originally thought it may be restricted access but further examination determined an entry possibility to the cache itself.

Seems the patch has been cleared. I could see the likely hide location but there is a fence and to my mind this is private property.

13-Apr-21
I'm out for an early morning walk while M sleeps in. Like other geocachers before me, I found myself on the wrong side of the creek at first, and then, unwilling to get my feet wet, I took the other option which really did feel uncomfortably close to private property! But the cache was soon found and the log signed and I was on my way.

Thanks for find #1983

Perhaps if I were better at working out which side of a creek was east or west, I wouldn’t have ended up flat on my face after tripping on tree debris. Oops!! Anyway, could see an obvious location from the west side. Back on the bike with the geokids to make our way to the east side. Cache signed and now home again to nurse my bruised ego.

Day 6 of the Magnificent Mount Beauty Caching Festival. Like at any festival, there needs to be space for some time out away from the buzz and excitement of the big acts. A day of reflection. I’m calling today’s set of five caches: “Inside Ned’s Head”.

A key philosophy for today is that wherever a track branches, take the less travelled path!

This was the 1st of 5, and I’m calling it “Ned’s Creek”.

I got an easy park on the roadside and started to get a little prickly. Upon paying more attention to the hint I changed my approach. Like others, I felt a bit uncomfortable here. Although I didn’t jump a fence, it was a very fine line!!

Time to log - a tad late! was not sure of that fine line boundary between public and private and the chance of seeing a joe blake in such a nice snaky habitat. Good located quickly TFTC Nordic Ned.
