A comfortable 20 walk thats easy to fit in between the 12:30 ferry drop and 14:00 departure! Next to freshly chopped trees but an easy find, gps is spot on thankfully! Tftc

Kiwiscot brought Scottie & Kiwi some tickets on the Kawau Island - Royal Mail Run Cruise for xmas. Finally getting around to using them today. Beautiful and sunny with light winds. Enjoyed the journey over - we got lucky seeing a pod of dolphins surfing in the waves behind our ferry. Had a picnic lunch on the grass, visited the Mansion House and gardens and now enjoying a walk down to School House Bay to catch the return ferry back to Sandspit. Cache quickly located. Enjoying the views from the cliff top walkway. TFTC

Last time we were on Kawau Island was about 20 years ago, not much changed apart from cyclone Gabrielle damage. TFTC

I headed over to Kawau with Supernannny and Nette for the day. We got off the ferry at Schoolhouse Bay so this was our first cache of the day and a nice quick find. Log is a little damp but signable.

We had a lovely day over on Kawau Island and enjoyed picking up the caches. I was surprised at how little this cemetery is, but yes, the grave with the picket fence and the baby who died is rather sad. Nice to have the cache a little distance away so that it doesn't feel intrusive, TFTC

I re-visited Kawau Island today with AliGle, last time I was here was about 9 years ago. After exploring Mansion House, we then took a walk up to this little cemetery. Initially we couldn't find the access path, so we took a more direct approach, made a quick find of the cache, then left on the correct path! TFTC!

Just been alerted to the fact I haven't logged this one. It was a great spot that the CO was very keen to visit while on the island. Some old and sad graves here. TFTC!!!

Whilst mrs c headed along the track towards to Coppermine I headed the short distance off to the side. I headed a bush way up to GZ and soon emerged at the site. Soon spotted the host and cache was all good here, replaced as found. Took a couple of pics of the graves and headed on to the next place.

It's the weekend again after a short 2 day week at work following the 3 day Level 3 lockdown. We had booked these cheaper ferry tickets earlier in the week and awaited lockdown easing which thankfully allowed todays trip to proceed. I had been keen for the event last year here but had too much on that weekend so had to pass. We did the sedate 2 hour cruise around the island with commentary and that was good to hear all about what we were seeing. It was a scorcher of a day too so we were welcoming of any shade encountered and had a nice iced coffee at the cafe after walking about 8kms around the island. Awesome place, well worth the trip and one of our recent highlights. Thanks to all cache owning COs.

We were spending an amazing day on the island, which has been on my radar since my last visit up this way with the aim of collecting information from a specific waypoint. I did not even realise this was a new placement until we got there! Unfortunately the log sheet is soaked already, but the location is amazing and most peaceful. Thank you for bringing us here!!! TFTC!!

Thank you Gorby for hiding this one, and allowing us to log, we were there on placement. Spending a few hours exploring this amazing Island, and visiting the historic, but also sad place.

I was with the CO and a group of other cachers for a lovely trip to Kawau Island and was there on placement. Thanks for placing and arranging a reason for me to visit Kawau after so long.
