Hurray a virgin cache find!!! Well maybe not exactly, more like a born again virgin. I thought I would try this one at night – less people about… Well – I didn’t count on the hobo that decided to make his bed on the park bench nearby. I wonder what he though of me walking around in circles as my GPS was going ballistic due to buildings and trees!
In the end I turned off the GPS and decided to use the force. My triangulation gave me a rough area to search, and the GPS was of no further use. Finally I decided to look in the right place. I thought 'no way – it can’t be in there'. Luckily I had my 4 LED torch in the pack, and sure enough it was in there. So I you know what at the you know what, and wandered off to fill in the brand new log book. Putting the cache back proved a little easier.
Took a whistle, and left 4 rubber feet. Thanks for the frustrating fun Ideology!

A sad cache...found down the bottom of the ---- but it was open, logbook un-readable (very wet). Did this one after dark, my compliments to anyone who got it during daylight hours!! TNLN

I tried and tried. Triangulated from the open space all around. I feel like I know where it should be, but I'm not putting my hand in there late on a rainy night.

Found it relatively quickly at 9.05am, but like others before us, had trouble actually retrieving the container and logging our visit without attracting unwanted attention. Having a plane to catch, we were unable to hang around until onlookers moved on. Disappointed because we had a Melbourne Metro ticket to add... we'll keep it for another time!

Finally the coast was clear for us to make an attempt on this cache. It was one of four for the day. Once we zeroed in on GZ a torch was called for. With torch in hand all was revealled. Left an SES badge and took nothing..... Thanks guys.

With an extra hour this morning because of daylight saving ending, Hecta suggested the time might be better spent enjoying the morning air rather than sleeping.
We found this one fairly easily, and not too many people around.

Found the cache relatively easily today, third time around. took nothing, left nothing.

Woohoo! It's my 100th find too!

Found it easy enough in the evening (nobody was watching). The log entries on this page have been quite helpfull locating this cache. Lovely location and excellent hiding place.

Found by Co and Sophia (1st time cacher)

Damn, I was SOOOOO close to this one I could smell it. My GPS 12 was skipping around
like a drunken schoolgirl and I only had a general idea of the area the cache was in.
Taking on board a very important clue (Nick and Ali's comment about an electrician), I
pored over everything electric - the streetlights, the lights mounted on the trees,
even the electronic toilets on the corner near the train station entrance. Either I
didn't look hard enough or my GPS 12 sent me in the wrong direction.

Other than that.. What an awesome location..

Found today at about 6pm. Clever hiding place. During our search we were approached by a car full of park rangers, they finally left deciding that we were MAD!!

Left some English money and took some Aussie money.

Thanks, Nick & Ali (UK)

A fairly easy find, but we were unable to login as there were so many people around. We came back a second and a third time, yet people were still sitting around watching us. They must have thought, What are those 'Sepos' doing wandering around in the ivy? On our last day in Oz, March 25, we returned and still were unable to retrieve the cache without being seen. We now understand the comment about rubber gloves. Thanks for the cache even though it was a bit frustrating.

My first cache Down Under! After a long time of being too busy to geohunt, I find myself on the business trip in Sydney with my GPS!! Cool. Brought my boss along for the hunt (her first). Excellent hiding place, beautiful surroundings.. what can I say?

Took leather boot keychain and die, left US coins and something else, now forgotten (papers were lost later in botanical gardens... a block or so away and certainly an awesome visit)

Thanks for the cache! Come to Alabama and cache with us soon!

Found this after a conference in the city. I had to battle poor GPS signal which sent me to the wrong side of the road, before sending me straight back again. Doh! Had little trouble finding and retrieving the cache, however had to wait 10 minutes for a break in the traffic so I could replace it. Sadly had nothing small enough to swap, so nothing taken, nothing left appart from my name in the log book.

Thanks Ideology for a top cache location!

After celebrating Australia Day in The Rocks, we headed south to find this cache, with dear friends in tow. I knew I was in trouble when we arrived at GZ and we were standing in the middle of a street somewhere south of Surry Hills. What a difference one tiny little digit can make. After backtracking about 1.5k we found where we were supposed to be, but by then it was dark and once again, no torch. The rat running across the walk and into the ivy was almost enough to cause those of the female gender with us, to head for the hotel. Lessons learned: 1) double check coordinates, 2) take torch, 3) take garbage bags (they would help clean up the park and give one an excuse for plowing through the ivy.) We're from Sacramento, California and are sad that we must go home tomorrow. Thanks for making us feel so welcome.

Cache #7 of the Australia trip. Visiting from Montreal, on our way back from the eclipse.

Our GPS was quite confused, pointing us all over the place. (It may still have been unused to the South and East coordinates.)

We were about to give up when Kat, as usual, spotted the cache. Some minor stealth later, and we had it in our possession. [It was actually in the first place we had looked, but we hadn't looked hard enough.]

Took an alien finger puppet, left a super bouncy ball.

A relatively easy find for an i! cache...

Wish I'd had my rubber gloves with me though!!!

There was no pen and I didn't have one, so had to manufacture my own charcoal to sign the log...

My 50th cache - Yay! Big Grin

Thanks ideology...

While scratching our head looking for the 12 monkeys, we decided to have a look for this one. It was well hidden but easily found. Good One Ideology.

An enjoyable Sunday afternoon adventure with KitPie and pup. GPSr was totally confused, going from reporting 500m to 12m, one second to the next.

We weren't in any hurry, so we caught some sun, checked out the markets, and I tried my hand at photojournalism when a lone protester threatened to go nude in the fountain and was subsequently arrested (he hadn't yet done anything wrong IMHO).

Was scratching around mindlessly when I saw a possible hidey hole. There were too many people about, so I just took a peek to confirm my suspicion, then returned half an hour later to log it.

Thanks i!

Piece of cake. Took the Sydney 2000 badge and left a plastic finger monster with compliment of my apprentice. Not enough room to leave a travel bug.
Thanks for this easy cahce.

We almost gave up on this one, but then we noticed something ajar. Great hiding spot in such a busy area, we were thankful for the stick to help! Took a small clay watering can and left a leather keychain with a moose that we brought from Montana (USA). Thanks!!

Well I'll be... Can't find it. Spent time triangulating and figuring and thought I had it - suspicious looking package in tree. Yippee thinks I and ducks over to grab it (on a weekday lunch hour). Joy turns to dismay as I find package contains someone's very, very mouldy & discarded luncheon. By this time I have the full attention of a couple of old stickybeaks, so call it a day & head off, muttering to myself in order to confirm their suspicions that yet another of the criminally insane has been released.

To paraphrase Arnie, 'Some day I shall return to this place'.

This one was a walk in the park compeared to Achillies, but fun all the same, Stealth is definately the name of the game with loads of passers by and a group of mormons. Recovered cache moved a good distance away filled in log and made swaps then carefully replaced to hiding spot.

Thanks Ideology for a very urban cache.

The efforts of the dynamic duo combined to make light of this cache.
Watch out for Elder and Elder who frequent this area, bailing people up to tell them fairy stories. Forgot my swaps, but left a calling card.
Our 2nd Ideaology cache in 2 days. This could become habit forming.

HYDE PARK, SYDNEY - Ideology Geocaching paid tribute to the late i!4 Metro cache today, describing it as quite simply the most magical cache you could possibly have.

Ideology's special relationship with i!4 Metro was well known. They often referred to it as their favourite cache, and remember fondly its first log where Hounddog famously noted As soon as you appear to do anything out of the ordinary, all eyes are upon you.

Today Ideology Geocaching released a videotaped statement about its cache, which disappeared between 8 and 10 months after it was hidden.

For us i!4: Metro meant everything and we had dreaded this moment along with, we know, countless others. Part of us knew it would disappear aventually, but somehow we never imagined that that time would come. i!4: Metro seemed gloriously unstoppable, said Whatshisname.

Ideology talked about how much they will miss Metro's logs. Above all Metro confounded many cachers and we laughed until we cried. And oh how we shall miss those laughs.

Ideology moved from the personal to the public, saying that Metro's demise would leave a chasm not only within the Ideology but in the Australian geocaching community - a community it had served, they said, with unswerving dignity.

Ideology has asked that Flowers and Freddos be directed to your local charity.

Well we searched and searched for this one.....we have a bright idea that we know where this should have been but it wasnt to be seen...

Searched for this one in vain for over one hour. Tried triangulating from open areas and consistently homed in on one area, but still came up empty-handed after thorough searching.

This was going to be my first physical cache find in Australia, after walking here from the GC2725 virtual cache coordinates. Later searches at the Relics cache and two in Centennial Park were also unsuccessful. Just not my day for finding caches, but still enjoyable, nonetheless.

City Buildings + Overcast Skies + trees and what we have? Poor GPS coverage. Took bearings from 3 location and triangulated on the location. Finding the cache was easy then. Carefully stole the cache to a remote location. Changed an elephant pin for another (and last) of our Singapore Pin. Discretely replaced cache.
This should be our last cache in Oz for a while. Will be heading back to Singapore soon where we will set up our Singapore cache.

Found by Team GeoCoopers. Puzzled at first at where the cache could be hidden. After a bit of triangluation we took the London Pin and left a Coopers Pin. After our visit to Sydney we will be taking a few new cache ideas back with us to Adelaide.

Just two swedish backpackers trying out a brand new Garmin eTrex in the Sydney area. Not having a map makes it more interesting Smile
Good spot. Pretty popular judging by the log book. We just managed to sneak in a comment on the last page...

Tried searching for it for almost an hour. Well... This is the 1st time we are searching for a micro-cache so may be we are lack of experience. Couldn't find it after searching for the whole area. Either it's too well hidden or it's gone with the wind and rain. Haha! Sounds quite impossible though. Will try another time. (A lot of passerby asked us what are we searching for. Haha! Embarrased ourself for an hour. Hehe!)

Overlooked the cache location a couple of times before the penny dropped. Literally!! We liberated the generously donated cache coins, and left a microswitch. Shouted ourselves to a Magnum with the proceeds.

Second people to find this cache today! Good location, enjoyed the hunt. It wasn't too busy when we were looking just before 6pm so not too many prying eyes.

We took the Sydney pin and left one from London. We're here on holiday from the UK so this was our first Australian cache.

Good to see our State tax dollars are providing this free internet connection on the way to another cache.

Turned out to be easier than it seemed.
Funny, I thought Delrin and graphite were slightly different.

Avoided the Jap tourists with their zoom lenses, but got caught by a charity collector.

G1 and Arfa found it on the way home from Go Jump (stumbling around in the dark!). Good fun staying inconspicuous (we hope we were inconspicuous, but how do you look at a GPS without being inconspicuous?). Took the 64MB pretend memory chip and the dot, and placed some geomarbles and a glass geoprawn. Careful whoever is there next, it is easily broken. Well placed Ideology (or should that be Technideas?)

Found it nice and quick. The MapBlast position was way off, but quickly homed in on the stash when I turned the GPS on. Lots of people around but they don't bother you as long as you look like you know what you are doing. Good fun.

Found by Ray and Maya (Nomads) at 11:15AM on a fine and beautiful sunny Sunday, June 24, 2001. We had no trouble locating the cache and had retrieved it within 15 minutes. It took us nearly one hour to replace it though. A guy decided to sit talking on a mobile phone, facing the cache location, he must have had free time, so we sat and had our lunch, waiting his pleasure. Eventually our chance came and we moved. We took the sewing kit and added some more gold bullion. It was a good cache location and the extra complication of people in the area added to the challenge. Thanks from Ray and Maya - Nomads.

02:15pm GeoPiggy DiDi took a late lunch and hunted down this cache. Most of the lunchtime eyes had returned to their offices by that time, so it wasn't too hard to hunt and find without attracting attention. Took a dice and left a rare gold two dollar coin circa AD2001!

Trying not to raise the suspicions of the madding lunch-hour crowds in Sydney increased the difficulty of this cache. We finally located it after taking a few triangulations. Bingo! the EeTrex was right on the money..erm.. cache.

We were delighted to locate the cahce, this being only our second hunt, and our First find.
Cogratulations Ideology on such a bright hiding place.
Spidey has a new temporary home ( till this weekend), left an olympic stick pin, and some refreshment!

Diversionary tactics were employed to replace cache. Which, by the way, is still in good condition.

Got to the co-ordinates without any problem, but was unable to do a search. Too many people around at that time of day, 12.30pm. As soon as you appear to do anything out of the ordinary, all eyes are upon you. What's that guy doing to that bush!!! I'll be back at a more quiet time.
