Bisoutje and I are on a roadtrip with a campervan between Cairns and Adelaide and have now touched ground in the capital Canberra. We scheduled for 1 full day here to be able to see and experience the city. It was a cold day but the many interesting Geocaches we found during the day made up for it. We saw many interesting buildings and enjoyed walking through several parks and along the river. This was a quick find with help from the hint. Many rabbits around.TFTC!
Thankfully had a geokid with me today, he gets credit for finding it. LottieCc and halcyon123
Missed the cache on the first scan and began to look at other objects but finally found it when we returned. Then the clue made sense! There was a bit of a break in the cold spell today and the sun was out much earlier and things warmed up, even though the temperature only got to 13 degrees. We had been keen to ride our bikes round Lake Burley Griffin so today was the day. We only made it to the Farmer's Market on our first attempt then had to return to the van with our purchases! With that done it was back out to firstly catch the tram into town and then the ride round the lake. On our way round we picked up a variety of caches, trads, multis, puzzles and quite a number of Virtuals. Some were straightforward while others challenging.Lunch at the National Portrait Gallery was welcome. We made it home just as the sun was settingThank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache The Farmers 5.**SKI Pair****
Walked through this park this morning with Frenchykek...looks like the Floriade flowers are all planted and waiting to grow! Don't think I'd ever cottoned onto any of the sculptures around here. Managed to find this one quickly enough which is always a win when searching for a cache hidden by the peerless TFF...thanks!
Im out at night after work, collecting clues nearby for a multi. So Im picking up a couple of caches in the area while Im here. Its a pleasant night for a stroll! Its interesting to see how the garden beds are being marked out and seedlings planted ready for glorious Spring displays. Thanks for the cache, The Farmers 5!
Nice easy find on a very peaceful morning. Good to see the floriade bulbs and seedlings being planted.
Another fun micro in Commonwealth Park. Slightly pungent aroma hereabouts! TFTC
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in Canberra for ANZAC day. With a late morning start we were on the bikes through EPIC to the light rail then the plan was to ride between the bridges of Lake Burley Griffin but alas too many caches and too little time so another day at least to finish that task. Bit of a breeze today so whilst sunny it was still a little cool. some lengthy search didnt help with our time management. We saw at least 2 school groups cycling around the lake, lucky for us they were going the other way, whilst we were stopped having lunch. TFTC The Farmers 5
A very very very small part of me was hoping I'd have to dig up one of the sculptures...But fortunately I didn't have to! Also saw a bunch of white-winged choughs eating a bunch of seeds, which was hella cool.TFTC!
Since I'm in Canberra for Mega, I've enjoyed seeing many places as well as the warm weather. Here's one to find today. Thank you for placing the cache The Farmers 5
With a D1T5 CITO on in Canberra I decided that today I would do a day trip over. Johno, why didnt you just stay a little longer over there after the Geobash? Because I had things to do at home and wanted some time with my [muggle] family and friends during my annual leave. So I made my way over there and after having breakfast, I headed off to go Geocaching. Due to the bad weather, I decided it was going to be a great day to find those caches within high muggle areas. It was a great idea because there wasnt any muggles around. Yes, I got very wet throughout the morning and once it was about 1pm I started to dry off, because the rain stopped. I then found a couple of more caches before heading to the CITO. Once at the CITO, it was great fun cleaning up the pond and catching up with everyone. I then headed off to get dinner and afterwards headed home. TB visit. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTE & TFTCs! While it was still raining walked round Commonwealth Park collecting the high muggle area geocaches. All of them were quick finds and have been replaced ready for the next finder. My last find in Commonwealth Park today. I found this cache on the ground after a short search today. I replaced it where I think it goes. Now off to get some lunch.
2/4/2024 Find #6964The final day in Canberra for KBreeAHH, Captain Terror and me, and we were going to pack it with caching before handing the hire car back and relaxing in the lounge at the airport. Having been up as far as Murrumbateman and then Yass this morning, we were now back down in Canberra for our final caches. This was the first on the list and was quickly found to avenge the Captains DNF. Which we were glad of due to the rubbish around GZ - we werent too keen to be poking around here too much today. Thanks for the cache The Farmers 5.
I found this while staying in Canberra for the mega event. It was a pleasure walking around the area and finding a lot of caches. Although it was raining in the morning, the clouds cleared up for the rest of the day. I want to thank The Farmers 5 for placing the caches and highlighting this beautiful area. It was a great experience!
Out taken a walk this morning in the park. Made a straight forward find. TFTC Farmers5.
Found 31 Mar 2024 at 12:13:44pmOut and about on a cycling tour of part of Lake Burley Griffin with Team_Crumble in a beautiful sunny day. We cycled about 20km today, picking up a few caches as we went. Many thanks to The Farmers 5 for placing Flugelman's Treasure for us all to find
Over here for Capital GeoBash Mega. One of many hidden caches all over the city and surrounds for Mega Day weekend. Night caching while muggles largely locked away, TFTC
Massive caching days continue. My online logs do not match with days found simply because I cant keep up with online logging sorry. My alliance of 5 all from WA are three young fit boys and two less young ladies who try to keep them honest. We have been up trees and ladders way more than I like and, like all geocachers who insist on wearing shorts in hot weather, our legs are ripped to shreds from hiking. Logging WAC since the three boys usually cache with a fourth called the Cockburn Crew based on their LGA. Having an almost totally cleared map locally, its difficult to explain the excitement of having a map that has caches literally everywhere. Ive cached in Canberra once with my partner and also at the Queanbayen mega but theres still so many to find. Long days and during the few hours allocated to sleep Im so sore I barely sleep anyway. Thanks so much for your contribution to making the days so exhausting and enjoyable. Much appreciated!
Nice quick find - phew. Lovely garden areas surrounding this one. Kangaroo and joey sculpture are pretty cool
We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen. We have hired bikes to ride around the lake today.
As part of the tour group, we walked a ton of miles and signed all the caches as LT2. This was a quick and easy find, just the way we like 'em. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today was day 3 of my time in Canberra for the GeoBash Mega from the U.S. and getting to spend time with my friends. Hooray! It was another day that started with an awesome tour around Lake Burley Griffin. The weather was warm and the cachers were friendly. We were led by tankengine, one of the cachers who had a hand in the gadget caches at the mega, has awesome mysteries and other caches in the area. He kept us moving the entire time and we were able to get all the caches on our list. Then I attended the mega which was a lot of fun. There were so many people! The gadget caches were amazing, the adventure labs were fun, and the evening get together for trivia was a blast. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
Found with hevwalker on the Lake Burley Griffin Tour 2. All logs are signed as LT2 to save space. Beautiful views during the walk around this part of lake. Flugelman definitely got what he wanted when it came to initiate conversation about art and what it looks like or should look like eg: does it mean it has to be seen to be appreciated. Thanks to our guide Thomas TankEngine for taking us on this tour. TFTC The Farmers 5
While attending the Capital Geobash with scramping we participated in the 3.5hr Walking Tour around Lake Burley Griffin with Tankengine. We stopped at some pretty cool locations along the way.We signed all the logbooks with LT2 to save space in them.Hmmm!!! I believe artwork should be seen but art is very subjective so each to their own thoughts.TFTC The Farmers 5
Day 5 of our Capital Geobash mega-holiday, and first up for us this morning was to join the tour of Lake Burley Griffin, led by our wonderful guide Tankengine. This tour was heaps of fun, and all caches signed as LT2. Wow we would have had no idea there was a buried sculpture here, if it weren't for caching. Thank you for the cache and the interesting story Farmers 5.
Part of the Sandgroper contingent that has come to the Mega to explore new hunting grounds. Its sure to be a great week with many finds and laughs with lots of great friends and maybe some new ones along the way. Thank you for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Logged as WA6
How weird is this sculpture?Least we had a good quick and easy find here this morning.TFTC
Found while attending the Mega and out with the tour group at Lake Burley Griffin. A great day out. Log signed for the group as LT2Another great day for caching. ?? TFTC The Farmers 5
While attending the Canberra Geobash participated in The Lake Burley Griffin Lake tour this morning. A most enjoyable walk around the lake and surrounds taking in a variety of caches and scenic locations. Our group signed the log as LT2. TFTC
This is day 4 of our Australian adventure. While here, we participated in the Lake Burley GeoBash tour. What an amazing walk enjoying the sights navigated by Tankengine. Thank you The Farmers 5 for placing this cache for our enjoyment today. Logbook was signed as LT2. TFT ?? ????
I was expecting a bigger fight from this one, but no. Quick find, thank goodness. TFTC
Out and about as part of the Capital GeoBash Mega activities. Thanks to Tankengine for organising the Lake Burley Griffin Lake Walk tour and showing us around. Thank you to The Farmers 5 for placing the cache. It certainly had me thinking! It reminded me of the saying if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it .. does it make a sound? Of course it does. So by my reckoning.. if someone buries an amazing sculpture in the earth.. is it still Art! Bert Flugelman was a genius.. we are still talking about his work! Hmmmm ..Log signed as LT2
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers The Farmers 5! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
Out and about again, headed over to Sydney early in the morning, grabbed a hire car and got some local hides before driving to Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew - signed log as WAC to save time. This is 14361, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to The Farmers 5 for the caches we found.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.
The third day in Canberra and surrounds for the OzMega Geobash across the Easter weekend.Made my way to the event location for the first time today and enjoyed some of the festivities there throughout the morning. The afternoon was filled caching all over the place with a high priority placed on older caches to help fill Jasmer grids.Another day filled with an amazing variety of cache types and containers were located and with a large group the competition to get hands on the log first was high, with plenty of laughs along the way too. Thanks The Farmers 5 for placing Flugelman's Treasure for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 21:21 on 29/3/2024.This is find number 8548 for me.
Found as part of the Geobash Lake Burley Griffin tour with Tankengine as our guide. Our group signed as LT1. Thanks to all the COs, the caches were in amazing locations. It's puzzling to think...a sculpture is buried here?TFTC

Found today with the LT1 group, under the guidance of our friendly host, tankengine.Thank you to all involved in making us welcome to the ACT, we are enjoying the rich variety of caching adventures!
On our bikes today. We were suppose to be having a non caching day, going to visit the sister-in-law, however she had to cancel due to important client meetings. The price of being a small business owner. Hall was on the cards but we decided to leave that for another day and go into the lake, picking up what we could and adding a few Ad Labs.A nice hideaway here, great clue and easily zeroing in on the container.Total Caches Found 15675TFTC The Farmers 5
Weren't expecting to find a cache in this location. Not a flugelhorn player in sight either ! Anyway had cache in hand quickly, and away to the next one. Thanks Farmers 5 for your work.
Greetings from Tasmania, ALL7 pick me up at airport to ahead Aromoo, and via some caches on the way home..Signed the log with good dry..TFTC
just had my walk here to enjoy the morning thought why not catch up some caches here so found this one so log and placed back where it belong TFTC
Pleasant change to find a cache in a strongly vegetated area where I didn't get hacked to pieces! TftC
The third day of our scooter package today took us to the area between bridges on lake burley griffin. The scooters were great and we focused mainly on traditionals and virtual caches here.
Had to go bush from the main road hugging the fence to get this one due to Floriade fencing off the area but we came up CIH! TFTC

Access was made inconvenient due to the Floriade "preparations" (although nothing was going on). Still somwehat accessible. TftC.
Neat little hide. A great spot we have visited many time for Floriade. Way too many muggles are if to find then! TFTC
Out for a quick afternoon stroll through the park while Naterater13 scootered around. Nice quick find. TFTC
Wandered over whilst waiting for the paddle boats- thought it was going to take longer but not too bad. TFTC!
TaurusSix and I are back in Canberra for a few days. It is a place that is very dear to our hearts so we always enjoy any opportunity to visit. This time one of us is here for a work conference and one of us has tagged along. As well as the work conference there is plenty of opportunity for us to catch up with old friends and of course to squeeze in a geocache or two or three …

I came to this cache to get me one step closer to a major milestone. On arrival I wondered where to look, nothing jumped out. After a few circles I stopped to read more. It didn’t help but as soon as I looked up the cache leaped out at me. Suddenly the hint made sense.

Didn't have luck this time with alislaur, will check back another time when my brain is not so fried )
What a crazy idea for a sculpture! Found the cache easily enough as it was lying out on the ground. I returned it to where I think it ought to be. The park is deserted this evening. My son came here for a walk along the lake with friends so of course I took the opportunity to do some geocaching. TTFC
We overcomplicated this one majorly but it was a simple find in the end! Thanks for bringing attention to that fascinating story! Tftc! Sabo + JJ

This is my third trip to Canberra this year. And truthfully it has not been a good start. I arrived at nearly midnight last night, the airline lost my bag and this morning was marked by a rushed visit to Big W to at least find a change of clothes. With lunch near Civic Square, I packed clothes and a toothbrush into my carry-on bag, took off my sad face and decided to go geocaching anyways.
I love Canberra and am bloody happy to be here. I have big plans for this trip. Today I wanna grab some choice Jasmer geocaches and in a couple of days will head to the Snowies. But right now, I am going to put some miles on my shoes, wait for a phone call from the airport and find some geocaches.
When I was in Canberra for the first time this year, Floriade was in full swing. It was a work trip, but we still found time to wander through the flower festival and enjoy our time in this park. Very soon after I got home I smacked myself in the forehead, remembering Earthwork was here and I forgot to go look. I love Flugelman and have sought out his works in cities across the country all year. So today, walking past the park, I decided to go grab the geocache associated.
Hard to believe this park is where Floriade was. Then, it was chockers with people and garden beds. Today, empty lawns. Both are beautiful, starkly different. I navigated along towards GZ and smiled knowing what was under my feet. Rabbits scarpered as I approached close. I started looking and found nothing but about $3.40 in 10c bottles all over. I checked the logs for any hints. I looked longer and harder. It wasn't going well.
And then my phone rang. After a night of panic and a morning of stress, my bag has just landed. Not worth the shopping trip! But with that, I called this search off. I checked everywhere and note it hasn't been found since before the Floriade. I expect it didn't survive the festival-goers or gardeners. Still, I checked out the plaque, gave a nod to Bert Flugelman and trotted off.

Looked for a while, within the bush area with the domed shaped big floor vents. Couldnt find it.
Nice cold morning in Canberra at a conference so thought I’d pop over to this one! Took a bit of time but eventually found it. Thank you for the hide
#2704 Homed in on this hide fairly quickly, and was able to get on my way without any muggle intervention. Would be a different story during Floriade. Thanks The Farmers 5.
