I was driving north from Christchurch to Motueka today and stopped to pick up just eight caches along the way. Took a little while to find this one, despite my coords indicating I was just 1m away from the cache. Scrolled through earlier logs and one dated 22.10.23 indicated that GZ wasnt as far along the track as the coords seemed to suggest. On that basis I moved my area of search several metres closer to the start of the track and quickly located the cache! #7477. TFTC.

I try one day but had no luck then came back a second time and took me a bit but I found it finally

Whoops I'm a bit behind on my logging. We tried several times to get to this spot, but road works did not allow us to stop. Today was different though and we made a reasonably quick find and the river looked cold! Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I have been out and about, mostly around town. Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.

Took us nearly 2 years to get this because of roadworks! On the way north this month, the traffic lights were at the layby, and a truck was parked up. On the way south tho, the roadworks had moved and we had the place to ourselves. Thank you paddle chick

Very peaceful place

no luck for the cachebox today, but we found 20 Dollar neary Winkteam bycycle

Out on a bike ride from Murchison to the longest swing bridge I stopped by to seek this cache. As I made my way down the track I was dismayed to see the difficulties that this cache posed - too many possible hiding places![xx(] On reaching GZ I briefly searched a couple of places before giving up and returning to the bike. There I decided to read some of the previous logs and one suggested the cache was not as far in as the published coords. Mmmm, so I decided to go take another look. In the first place I decided to search (non-river side of the track) I spied something a little odd among some roots.[^] Phew! Glad to get the smilie. TFTC paddle chick

On holiday with busy paws and heading to Motueka. Enjoying caching on the way. Tried hard for this one but had many options and phone wouldn't settle. After both of us tripping and falling we gave up.

19-Oct-23
coconuts3 and I didn't have any joy here with this cache! A couple of slips and we gave up. I don't think we found the path needed. Another time!

Out for a long weekend drive from westport to get the numbers in , walked to far down the track initially but back tracked and came up with the goods...tftc

Time to head out of Murchison and down a back road without the snail shell on behind.

Seeing that the arking area was best approached when heading to Murchison I left it to later on my trip. The GPS does bounce around a bit here. I searched a few places first before coming back up the track a bit.

Cheers for the cache, paddle chick.

Reasonably quick find 2hd time around. TFTC

Nice little track down to the river.

21-Oct-22
We are off to Nelson for Labour Weekend. I was expecting this to be pretty straight forward but the GPS really struggled in here and the hint left many areas to search. This was only our second stop for the day so we had already given up saying we could search on our return trip when I looked at a couple of more places on the way back to the car. Bingo! What a tiny container for this location. I was also surprised the paper log was super dry. Thanks for placing this cache and adding to our smilies. Smile

Thought oh no, we won't get this because of roadworks. Then yippeee there was a layby for the cache after the green light so we pulled over. Should be easy to get, wait till the light is green, which will be obvious when the cars come past again in our direction and job done. Just as we got out, a truck pulled up and moved us on. Much easier to comply than explain.

02-May-22
Still getting used to the new GPS but it was definitely sending us in the wrong direction, so back to the car, get it settled and then back down the track. Could see the debris in the trees from the last flood that went through but luckily it didn't affect the cache and once again Andy came up trumps. tftc

20-Apr-22
No luck today.

20-Mar-22
We stopped here to check the River views and grab the cache...interesting talking to some People canoeing from this point down too the bridge. They said it's fun ...with huge smile on their faces cache all ok...great spot not far above High water line ..
Lucky as I guess

20-Mar-22
I got phone coverage right here. I wasn't sure we would be able to look for this as there were 4 kayakers setting up ready to go down the river. We chatted for a while, then they drove off to do a vehicle drop. Perfect! Thanks for bringing us here paddle chick.

30-Dec-21
Scoured the bank around the trees but still couldn’t find it.

23-Dec-21
Phone bounced around a lot and decided to give up after an unintentional vertical slide….maybe I will return one day

This one took a bit to locate. But got it in the end. Tftc

A quick pull over and wander down the track - no muggles here today. Found it, signed it, replaced it and met a few ladies with their gold panning geargoing to try their luck. Interesting spot for that, but it might work. Cheers

#10172. Day 6 of the South Island road trip around the top of the South Island (Canterbury and Westland) with Infoferret. This trip was planned to replace the Labour weekend Auckland Mega adventure. We have stayed overnight in Murchison and today are heading to Christchurch. The weather has improved in the morning and by time we reached Canterbury it was like a hot summers day. We are on our way to Lewis Pass now but decided to stop here and find this one. Interesting track. Not sure I would have noticed it without a cache to find. Parked nearby and wandered down the path to GZ. Overshot the mark and checked a few likely spots, then doubled back and saw a suspicious pile of rocks. Must be it and it was. Signed the logbook and replaced where found. Thanks paddle chick for hiding it here.

Travelling with GSEL around the SI. One of the ones I had forgotten to note on my phone, but GSEL remembered. Took a bit of spotting, as I focussed on a likely but incorrect object, before GSEL spotted it. TFTC.

This long weekend was an opportunity to get away and do some caching in and around Westport. Haven't been there for a few years so there was plenty to do. Nice walks even if I got a little damp. Stopped off to have a look for this cache on my way home today. Nearly a year since my first attempt to find it failed. I had better luck today. Not an instant find but it didn't take me to long to locate the cache today. Nice to turn a frown Sad into a smiley Smile TFTC, Biggles.

We were on our way home after a caching and fishing weekend on the West Coast. This is the first time we have passed that the carpark has been empty and we were on the correct side of the road to make an easy stop.

The cache was a nice quick find, all in good order and obviously popular today as GK was the third to sign it today.

We stayed and had a look at the debris on the other side of the river that was left during the recent floods, man oh man there must have been a lot of water rushing by. Just looking at the scars on the land from all of the slips around the place was pretty incredible.

Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

Took a while. Got it with Kaz53

Quite small . Very well hidden. New log with only one sign . Not sure if this is it but have signed with Judith

19-Oct-21
Finally road clearing up a bit in traffic so can stop pick up a couple of caches on our way home, Dashed down the track which was a little wet and to start went a little to far. I stopped looked around and spotted a little sign Smile. Ventured my way to to quickly spot the cache. TFTC and bringing us to another new place.

19-Oct-21
Pulled in and soon found a wet looking track Smile - Stretch0 gallantly helped me across the small stream and we soon had a cache in hand in the second place we looked Smile log signed - thanks for bringing us to a slightly unexpected place and the cache Smile

03-Oct-21
Looks like the flood didn't get as high as the cache going by the debris but it was missing. Rock that had been holding it in place was still there. Replaced with smaller container in the same place

20-Sep-21
DNF, think the terrain was more than a 2.

09-Jul-21
Interesting area with no muggles around when we visited with evilC. Took quite some time to locate. TFTC!!

12-Jun-21
Caching with Sidewaze. Apologies for the late log - working at catching up. I enjoyed finding your cache. TFTC

12-Jun-21
Just the one trad today as we headed for home. I spent some time scrambling around on the bank between the track and the road without success. Checked out some earlier logs then repositioned myself for an almost instant find. What was starting to look impossible suddenly became very easy. Great access to the river here.
Thanks for the hide.

10-May-21
Went bush for this one, bit damp out today. Good find by hubby. Tftc

04-May-21
I'm pleased I stopped off here ... the river looks amazing today. Took me about 30min to find the cache with my GPS finally settling at 9m out for GZ a few metres off the track. Definitely earned this one. Thanks paddle chick.

23-Apr-21
Found with StreetWalkerNZ en route from Christchurch to Nelson.
It was raining, so on with the jackets and we headed to the track start. I didn't like the look of the slippery looking approach, or the wee creek between us and GZ, so let SW carry on to find the cache. After a few minutes, when he didn't reappear, I had to bite the bullet and negotiate the obstacles (which weren't as bad as they looked).
After a few minutes fruitless search, and not liking where the GPSr was taking me (up the bank towards the road where SW was looking), I retraced my steps and spotted a likely cloaking device not far from the track and there was the cache. Phew. TFTC.

23-Apr-21
#19787. The rain made GZ a bit slippery to get to and to search, especially as I wasn't sure how fat to go off track (turned out, only a couple of steps). I was pleased when Troodles found the cache. I left her to sign the log, and went down to have a look at the river. TFTC.

09-Apr-21
What a cool spot along the river.

02-Apr-21
No paddling for me today, just a short stroll in an excellent spot to find a great hide. I'll stop here for lunch next time. Thanks for bringing me here, and TFTC!

11-Feb-21
Paddle chick and i were heading home from a trip to the West coast we stopped so I could get this cache, it a lovely river i don't think i would be to keen to kayak down it. Thanks for this cache paddle chick

04-Feb-21
Found on top South. Don't know when I will be back home. Trying out the new caravan.

28-Jan-21
The coords were well and truly out for me here. For me, this was about 13m back towards the carpark, much muddier than I started. I have some scary memories of getting swallowed at a slalom here many many years ago. TFTC.

22-Jan-21
Found on my geocaching road trip on the way to Canterbury Faire. The river was up a bit from the rain. I think I can guess how CO got her name

05-Jan-21
A quick stop on the way through

TFTC

03-Jan-21
Quick find here, and no muggles either, which is a bonus as I am sure it was pumping when we came past in the other direction not long ago. TFTC PaddleChick.

Driving home to the top of the south after spending almost a week in Christchurch. We decided to get some caches on the trip home as we had time up our sleeves, and our caching finds in Christchurch were a bit skinny. So we just looked at ones on our side of the road going north, and that did not require too much effort getting off the main drag. Good fun. Thanks all.

One last one for the year. Nice that it is one of yours paddle chick. Didn't really have appropriate footwear for searching round here but it was a nice quick find with no one around. Happy New Year to you and your family paddle chick. TFTC # 16,518

This took quite some time to find. We enjoyed the walk down to the beach in between searches. Eventually Ms M and I zeroed in on the same spot at the same time.
There used to be a cache at another get in or out point along here which took us to a really nice picnic spot over looking the river and we’ve failed to find it since. This wasn’t it so we went further south and found a set of wooden steps down to the river but that wasn’t it either.

We had driven past here on Labour Day (26th Oct) but there was both too much rain and too much traffic so we flagged it for another day. Today was fine and sunny and no traffic in the car park.
Hazedarus spotted the hiding place for the cache while I was still contemplating my approach so a quick find.
After signing the log we replaced the cache and returned the camo so it really was camo.
Thank you paddle chick.

We passed GZ on Labour Weekend on the "wrong side" of the road. Heavy traffic and bad weather made it unsafe so we left it for later. After a long spell of bad weather we passed again for no more than a look expecting things would be unsuitable. Just in case I wore my gumboots but it worked out that with careful foot placement dress shoes would have sufficed. I followed the GPS but was a bit eager and overshot the target it said. I guesstimated GZ and the cache was at the first place I looked Big Grin I love it when that happens! After the paperwork I went down to the river to see the river upclose and in flood. Just enough of a rock to have good footing to get close and personal and take the customary pictures. Thank you paddle chick

*Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!*
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
Weather was quite bad again with lots of rain

*2TF with ww9, took quite a while before ww9 discovered it.*

FTF 15:54. Stopped by while driving north. Saw the last log and that was still the case today, still pretty slippery. After a bit of a search and backtracking under the trees, my sister yelled out that she'd found the cache. Nicely hidden, would've been easy to miss. Jumped back in the car and headed for afternoon tea in Murchison before continuing on. Patchy rain and unusually warm today. TFTC

Hmm - it might be there but I couldn't find it today. I was wet and slippery around GZ but I did search a few spots close to where my GPS zero'd out. Oh well - I guess I'll be back in drier weather.
