#23191 @1115Day 8 of a 9 day trip: Drive from Canberra to Melbourne, then by air to Flinders Island, Launceston, King Island, and back to Melbourne, then drive back home to Canberra. For the King Island part of the trip, I joined Aquilus1 and sacada. This morning was rain free, but still windy. Much more pleasant for caching. Our focus was on the south and west of the island. Aquilus1 spotted this cache. It was very windy, so after a few quick photos, we moved on. TFTC.

Wild and windy coastal scenery here, quite spectacular with the rock formations and waves. The cache took a little longer to spot than it needed but found soon enough. It's been quite a journey, just to get to King, yes, but the many years of trips and travel in the quest to find every cachable LGA in Australia. So, here we are, on King, our last, all found and now sacada, TikvaNZ and myself are spending our time exploring the island and its caches. The weather hasn't shown its gentle side. Instead, we have had wild wet and windy weather. Apt perhaps, that this journey ends memorable, and gives us a little taste of the roaring 40s and bass straight life. A reminder of the islands history, often tragic, so a little wind and rain as we explored, quite mild in the scheme of so much hardship of the past. So, we carried on, as you can only do and found amusement and fun in the craziness of it all. The second day was much more pleasant, a light drizzle later on, and the wind still but compared to the previous day. Quite nice! Scenic, rugged, and wild coastlines, grassy lush fields, and cows lined up in rows to protect from the weather. Wallabies in numbers so high, just lining the roads, it makes you wonder how many there are we can't see. Wild peacocks, turkeys, and pheasants are often seen as well. With our caching complete early on the second day, a little fun. King island dairy for tastings and a little shopping! Very yummy and great prices, too. The KI brewery was next on our aganga where we had some tastings and a cheese platter to enjoy too.We finished the last day with an event, a celebration to reflect on being the first two to have all cachable LGAs completed, great to share this with milestone with sacada , and great TikvaNZ was there with us. Now the question is, what next? Thanks for your cache!

No rain today. Awesome views.

Quick find after we had spent a few minutes marveling at the view. What a spectacular place!

Day 2 on King Island and we are travelling south to explore. Already we have passed the 40 parallel so are now technically at the mercy of the Roaring Forties, except today is a beautiful sunny day with no wind and calm seas. We stopped for morning tea at the site of the wreck of the Cataraqui and our bus broke down so there was plenty of time to explore there. Such a sad story! A new bus arrived and we changed to the new bus and headed on to the Calcified Forest.Next stop was the Seal Rocks Lookout. We didn't see any seals today but the rock formations and the views of the Southern Ocean were spectacular! Then it cache search time. I followed what I hoped was a cacher trail but it didn't help. I went round and round, looking looking looking but no luck. One of the muggles who I'm working on converting to our hobby also started looking with me. Then I heard the tour guides voice, "Come on 'Jackscruff', it's time for us to leave." That's when I saw the cache!Thank goodness for that!(The hint is of very minimal help.)TFTC # 6337

An absolutely stunning lookout. Thank you for placing this cache here and bringing us here. Jay and I set about finding this cache but missed the mark a few times. Finally focussing on the coordinates led to a relatively straightforward find, after 15 minutes of looking in the wrong places! We did the nearby hike after which was equally spectacular. A must see if you're on King Island!

TFTC,
We enjoyed our trip around the Island today.
We took it upon ourselves to purchase a few containers at the IGA and using write in the wet paper we brought with us, replaced a couple of missing caches.
Visited trackables.

Absolutely breathtaking location!! Unfortunately, my second dnf today. The wind didn't allow me to do too much rummaging around. It was quite terrifying!

Coordinates changed from:
S 40° 5.729 E 143° 52.412

Coordinates changed to:
S 40° 5.728 E 143° 52.394

Distance from original: 84.1 feet or 25.6 meters.

To have an easier access. To get to the original coordinates you had to leave the track, now it's closer to the attraction

Didn't find this one, despite being right on the coordinates. The search was cut short by the local police making an appearance.

What a wonderful location! It was so incredibly windy while we were here but oh what a great view of the cliffs from the lookout.
Coordinates are very good. The bottom of cache has cracked and somehow the logbook in its bag is damp. We dried everything out in the wind (which didn’t take long) and replaced it as found.
So glad we found one of your caches after our dnf the other day.

Thanks for the cache and adding more fun to our holiday.
