In Marton with rattll this morning. Came upon this cache, still safe and sound in its hiding place. All in perfect condition. Tftc!
We hope you enjoyed exploring this region of the North Island. The Pokai Whenua GeoTour: Rua has now ended. Thank you to the community for all the great logs, photos, and Favorite Points over the last 2 years. It has been so fun!
With the Geotour coming to and end soon Yvettetb and I decided to go on a road trip to collect Tahi and Rua. Of course I had some puzzles at various places to collect and a few special types were added to the list too.
This was day 5. We stayed in Fielding last night. Today all we had to do was get to Wellington. Well that shouldn't take long. We did however go via Marton, Bulls, Ashurst, Palmy City, Shannon, Foxton, and finally Levin. It was a long day but quite a few goals were achieved.
This was one of our essential Geotour caches. Thanks for the interesting information in the description. The cache was quickly found at gz, TFTC

Our North Island Roadtrip from Whangarei to complete Tahi & Rua of the NZ Geotour - Day Five
Quick little park and grab in Marton on our travels from Fielding on our way to Wellington today. Thanks for bringing me here, haven't been to Marton for about 25 years.

A quick caching trip to Marton with the kids. Completed our first cache of the geo tour with the aim to complete the series over the coming months. Well hidden, TFTC!
Staying at the NZMCA park, and this was right close by, so had to make sure I found it while I am here, TFTC
Left it too nearly the last minute to complete this geotour. Not sure where 2 years have dissappeared too. Lucky muggle Kev was happy to join me on a quick drive around the North Island picking up Tahi and Rua. Thanks for a quick quick cache as we head north
Recently it was my birthday, and GeoHubby (GNARwhal) single-handedly planned a weekend away (including childcare) up to Rotorua to collect the PWGT caches.
With 2 of us searching it didn’t take long to find what we were after. TFTC.

On a mission to do PWGT 2 caches in full and maybe some of Tahi ones too in the time I’ve allowed myself. There will also be some extras along the way to to make break the journey
Although I won’t get all the tour as two are beyond my abilities I did find this on but not the tree mentioned by Ruru-NZ. This is when the rain started and a little cooler than it has been all day

Up from Southland with muggly hubby to revisit some old haunts and discover new places. Taking a leisurely trip and the caching goal is to complete PWGT2.
This is Day 1 on the road. Aiming for Mangaweka.
First PWGT of the day after some remark-a-bull detours in Bulls.
Got distracted by the stealthy tree nearby. Surely not, and no.
Thanks for the cache and research mar1sa

Out and about on a mission to try to complete the final 13 caches I need to complete PWGT2 and the tour itself - two down/eleven to go. I wandered over here from the lab and I was almost here when I realised I only had my phone with me and no pen! I continued on hoping there would be a pencil in the cache and there was whew! Thank you, thank you, thank you. TFTC # 18,641
Full day of caching with with Infoferret and BFG. Signed all logs today as BIC. Quick easy find. T4TC
Our phones were sending us all over the place so checked out a few of the trees until we found the right one. The cache is in good nick. Thanks.
I've sort of been picking up these caches in dribs and drabs as I visit places. PWGT 2 hasn't created the spark of excitement in me that the first tour did. All seemed a little too much too soon to me really. Found without any problems. TFTC
I had decided to stay in Marton for the night & was pleased to find that this cache was close to the NZMCZ camping ground.
My phone is never at its best under trees but found the cache surprisingly quickly (no, it’s not at the tree with the black bra!).
Thanks for this cache, mar1sa.

Apologies for late logI was with Nannie kerr and was drivingHave realised I missed logging on the day Have signed at gz
Spring is only a few weeks away and we are at the start of yet another new month (seriously, how fast is this year zipping by???). I normally like to try and get a good caching outing in early in any month to take the pressure off my own desire to find 50 caches each month, so jumped at the chance to create our own pod with Haydn.seek and deltatea. We managed to cover a lot of ground and end up with no DNFs which is always a bonus. My personal haul was 35 for the day.
The weather looked like it would threaten us with rain all day long, but we were very lucky for most of the day with only a few passing light showers - until we got to the Tutaenui Resevoir where we managed to get seriously wet. But that was towards the end of our day so didn't spoil our caching at all.
Believe it or not, I've never actually been to Marton before in all my years (over 30) of visiting and living in NZ. I was glad to be able to put that right today.
This was a cache that I have wanted to find since the Geotour started. Toilet stop time (lol) and so whilst the ladies were making use of the facilities, I walked over to look for it. A nice quick find, and I appreciated the quietness of the location although I imagine it would be quite different in Summer. All is well here, so soon put the names of myself and dealtatea onto the log before replacing as found.
Thanks for setting up the this cache. Just 3 more to grab to finish PWGT2

Found after gps settled… staying at the NZMCA park nearby. Decided to do some caching around Marton! TFTC
On travels north, targeting PWGT caches. Our wagging tails liked this cache a lot, scurrying around amoung the trees and leaves TFTC.
Was only planning on doing the lab cache in the area but seeing as I was nearby I might as well go for it. I managed to find 4 of the PWGT series during my stay. I'll hopefully add more on future trips. TFTC.
Finished the Adventure lab and realised there was a cache nearby. A straightforward find . Thanks for placing it
Nice straight forward find of a cache - not many people about maybe because tis so cold. T4tc
I completed the Adventure Lab in the belief that there was a bonus puzzle cache. I was unaware that it had been archived.
So this became my bonus cache instead. My GPSr was rather indecisive to begin with but once it settled down, I was fairly confident I was heading to the correct location. There was a problem in the form of a fresh turd that I had to reach over to get to the cache. I put the container back in a slightly different place so it will be easier for someone with a shorter reach to get to without coming into contact with the offending material.

took a while to poke around the trees the checked previous logs then quickly found. tftc
PWGT cache number 150, what an adventure it's been over the last 18 months visiting every region of NZ. Some places I've been before but there were also a number of regions I've never been to or not since a very young child. My to do list is even longer with so many that I now want to return to and explore in a lot more detail. Unfortunately most areas I only had a short couple of days to cover a large area collecting caches from both of the geotours so it was very rushed and some like this one were visited under the cover of darkness. I think I've bypassed Marton on previous trips so I'm yet to see anything here, next time I'm in the Manawatu I will have to come back for another look. Took a few minutes to spot what I was looking for here. Thanks for your contributions to the geotour mar1sa

Wow. Second time ever I have actually seen acons fall! The last time I saw one fall it landed on the roof of a car. Made a little dent. So... Walk into the woods with falling acorns? Yeah, sure!
Nice easy find.
Happy Easter Egg Hunt!

AliGle and I were heading down to the Wairarapa for a 3 day hike and decided to work on the PWGT2 series on the way there and back again. Did this one late in the day, so needed to take a torch with us, but made a quick find of the cache at GZ. TFTC!
Found it more by geosense than a hint On my way from Whanganui to Wellington for an Easter holiday. TFTC
Making our way through Marton and grabbing one or two caches as we go. Fascinating history thanks mar1sa.
Quick find, TNLN and left as found. Thanks for placing this cache and providing the local lesson.

While I was saying that the hint was as useful as T--- on a B--- as would be in the next town we were to visit, Mrs agreed with me and then used her power of observation to make a quick find. Cache in good condition thanks for the hide. So now it's off to Bulls we go.
My 3 year old grand daughters first find. Now she wants to go treasure hunting all the time, thanks!
Lots of the hide item around, but found the cache pretty quickly!
Took a bit of a walk through the town after, very interesting buildings!

After arriving at the motor home park we decided to take the dog for a walk before the deluge of rain forecasted arrives. Cache found nice and dry. Log signed & returned. Back to moment to dry the dog. TFTC
Quick easy grab on our road trip to find a few TMGT and PWGT caches. Both container and logbook were in good condition. Thanks for telling the story of the city!
Today is the last day of our road trip, completing the PWGT 2 (Lower North Island) caches from Palmerston North to Tongariro.
Another hot day today, so it was nice to have a shady walk to this cache in Marton. Pleased to finally spot this one after checking a few along the line. Made a note of the codeword. TFTC

Our 1st find! Off the track and it took us a little while but the GZ is a good place to start
Plenty of hint items to look at...
Found on a road trip around the central North Island, targeting Geotour caches. More when I get home. TFTC

Quick find underneath the trees with D in peaceful Marton, thanks mar1sa & MinistryofEducation!
Had a few minutes spare before visiting a friend in Marton this afternoon so called here to bag another PWGT cache. Found with no problems - signed log, recorded code word, TFTC!
A day trip to Nanas house. For the school holidays. While out and about and no rain thought it would be good to get a cache or two.
It was good to let the kids out for a run around and many means the cache was soon in hand.
Thanks for bringing me to this park.

Stopped for a brief break to find another in this series. On arrival it looked as though it might take a while to locate, but had the cache in hand after a short search. Tftc
Driving down to catch a ferry on Tuesday heading south. Geopup Finn has been in the van all day so deserves a walk I reckon. What better reason to hunt for a cache. Unfortunately Mickey Mouse has gone awol. TFTC.
Found eventually. Lovely place to search through, listening to the birds, smelling the damp earth. Very fun. Thank you
GPS jumping around. Cool after all the rain of last night with a new little stream going through the trees. The tūīs were singing their hearts out.
Our trip starts again after being curtailed on day 2 when we went into lockdown (that was an 800+ km day to get back to our respective homes). The trip with LNM1961 (logs signed either with our own names or ‘LE’) continues. We are travelling around the Rua area of the PWGT to collect all of these caches, plus some in the Tahi area. However, we aren’t just focussing on them. We are targeting others - oldies, ones that help us qualify for challenges, ones out of the way (especially on the Desert Road), as well as having fun, exploring NZ and seeing the countryside. TFTC

Back out on the road again with Ethness, enjoying a clear day, and managed to find this one whilst having a few raindrops overhead from the trees. Enjoyed watching & listing to the local tuis.
A quick find, with no muggle traffic in this part of the park. Used a bit more natural camo to hide as was a little exposed.
Cache in good order. TFTC.

Nice tidy little spot. Easy divert into Marton on our way south from tripping around the mountains. TFTC.
Missed this one on previous visits to Marton. Not DNF, just didn't see it on the map. Quick easy find today while walking Maggie the geohound and Maggies.Mum
Pleased there's a pencil in the cache as I too forgot my pen.
Thanks for contributing to the GeoTour. A lovely peaceful place to visit.

Took soo long, GPS kept jumping around in trees. Finally found it thanks to Mr 4. TFTC
3 July 2021 13:07. I had intended to do a bit of a numbers run today, but a series of DNF's had put paid to that concept! This was one of my ' Must do' caches for today, as I slowly chip away at the remaining PWGT caches within a days drive of home. I'm pleased to say that this was a very much appreciated quick find, and in excellent condition. Tftc
Lovely to visit Martin again. Had fun finding the right tree. Near the end of the day and bitterly cold.
Lots to learn about this town. Thanks for bringing us here

Only my third cache on this leg of the tour after a quick whistle-stop visit to Linton and Palmy last month. A nice hide here and all good at GZ, nice and quiet on a blah Saturday afternoon. Noted the codeword, first of seven for this trip - yay, and thanks for being a part mar1sa. Grabbed the sole trackable a Geocoin in residence, a MnGCA bird on it.
With the excitement of the birthday party now passed it was time to make our way back from Palmy to Taihape with some very specific caches on 'the list'. Definitely a quality rather than quantity trip which yielded four more Geotour caches, and codewords.
A planned trip to Manawatu/Rangitikei region has been on the cards for a while now, it's baby Kaiah's first birthday this week and she's having a birthday party in Palmy on Saturday. mrs c headed down South earlier in the week and I flew down on Friday morning, getting in nice and early. We were on baby minding duties so there was never going to be many caches up for grabs, so it was just opportune finds when convenient. I ended up getting a few more of the Region 2 Geotour caches, a missing DT combo to leave me one off a second trip around the buoy and a few Multis from Phronimos. A good weekend to catch up with family and enjoy a change of scenery from Auckland and recall that we do really enjoy the area down south too.

First time geocaching and found this gem straight away! Lovely spot easy to access
Parked up in the nzmca park then went out to finish the adventure lab cache and the bonus then this one
Many thanks good hide

Took a little while, pleased to say that we found it after losing all motivation don’t give up that’s all I can say
(# 6682). A trip to Marton and Hunterville to grab some caches. Left early as the weather was meant to turn bad in the late morning. So much for weather forecasts as it remained partly cloudy and dry all day. A quick find after a delayed start as I had a long yarn with a local while passing through the gardens. Everything in order. Thanks for bringing me here.
